Due Feb 2010

Gidders · 22/05/2009 16:52

Afternoon,

I can't find a due in Feb thread, but I suppose it's very early still!

Got my BFP on tuesday, with a due date of Feb 3. It's still not quite sunk in - I've had to take another three tests since then just to check

I'm spending far too much time already planning for this baby when I should be working, please tell me I'm not the only one who is completely obsessed. And that I will calm down eventually!

Anyway, would love to chat with some other newly upduffed types.

preggybear - HOORAY!!!!!!!!!

thats fantastic news - awww I bet that was lovely to see the little heart pulsing!

RoseBlossoms - welcome and well done so far with the smoking!!!

my sister was a smoker and stopped when she found out she was pregnant, they had councelling sessions to stop smoking at her hospital and she said she would not have been able to do it without their help so maybe your hospital has one too.

i'm sure you have some techniques to help you not to smoke but just imagine every puff on a ciggie, all those toxins and chemicals travelling down the placenta to your little babies body.

i use to be a smoker so i totally understand what you are going through. the first few months are the hardest but then it gets easier and easier and then you forget you actually smoked.

do you have morning sickness yet, thats great for putting you off fullstop!

goodluck!

ktpie · 11/06/2009 15:32

Preggybear - brilliant about the scan!

Devotion - I managed to get some bands from boots this morning, thanks for the kind offer to send me some! They seem to be working, feel a lot better than I did. Had actually been sick part way through my breakfast this morning (sorry if TMI) so a big improvement.

Hello and congratulations makingafamily, twoplusone, tryingtobemarypoppins and roseblossoms (and anyone else I've missed!).

Twoplusone, your story is the sort of thing my DH would have nightmares about!

makingafamily - don't worry last time my morning sickness didn't kick in until I was about 8 weeks so still plenty of chance (hope you don't get it though!).

I've not really decided whether to tell everyone earlier this time, last time I waited until I was 12 weeks, we are having a party at the weekend so I think most people will notice and I'll end up telling them.

raindroprhyme · 11/06/2009 19:02

hey everyone,
Is anyone else who is on number 3 huge. None of my clothes fit me. I have had to sit at work all week with my trousers unbuttoned.i have a very distinct bump and am only 6+2 by my calculations.
starting to think all my dreams about twins last month might come true!!!!!!

twoplusone · 11/06/2009 19:29

raindrop- when I was pg with number 3 I was in maternity clothes by 10weeks.. I think they pop out the pelvis sooner the more you have or it is because your body starts to remember what it has to do..
Hoping to get through summer withhout showing but doubt it.. Still keep thinking OMG cant beleive i am going to be a mum of 4..
Dh is so proud that he got me pregnant with one time at doing the full babydance
that he has announced it all over facebook!!!

CailinEireannach · 11/06/2009 20:18

Hi everyone, lovely to see so many of us on here, congrats to everyone who got their BFPs in the past few days.

Ktpie, I'm in the same position as you about telling people, only DH and I know so far (oh and my yoga teacher of course ) but I'm going away for a girly wkend with two of my oldest friends this week and it is going to be IMPOSSIBLE to hide not drinking, I don't know how I'll not let it out.

By the way Gidders, the yoga teacher didn't rule out any yoga moves but I have emailed the person that he said did yoga all the way through her pregnancy to ask her advice so I'll let you know.

iwantapinkprincess · 11/06/2009 21:26

Well spent the morning at the epau as gp was concerned about an ectopic but all ok its in the right place and showing signs of development one of the sonographers thought she saw a heartbeat the other wasn't sure so got to go back next week to be rescanned. I thought I was 6 weeks but it appears i am just 5 weeks. This week is going to be a long one. Still feeling very sick which I hope is a good sign

applesaretheonlyfruit · 11/06/2009 23:21

Hi Raindrop, oddly I had a dream about four weeks ago, before conception, of a room full of babies, in single beds, but tiny babies and I was trying to organise them in the room...yelling instructions ineffectively to people who I couldn't see.... well, that bit was like real life.

flyingcloud · 12/06/2009 07:59

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all well today and not too sick.

When I tell you that I've only had very faint nausea, it's not to make you jealous, it's because I'm a little bit envious of you. I am a tad worried about lack of symptoms (boobs still the same size and not remotely sore or tender. I had a bit of a scare and although tests confirm I am pregnant and a blood test confirms I am pregnant I will have an early scan in the next few days. The lack of symptoms does worry me a bit , but I'm trying not to worry too much because it's all out of my control.

Wishing you all a happy, ms-free day.

xx

Ruby01 · 12/06/2009 09:41

flyingcloud - its so hard not to worry but do try and stay positive and good luck for the scan i am sure it will be ok.

Preggybear - i am boiling hot all over but especially across my torso - its so hard getting to sleep when you're that hot.

oh and i have another symptom- i have been waking up everyday at 5am on the dot. Its the worst of all the symptoms especially when I love my sleep- maybe its bodies way of getting me ready for less sleep but i dont think its really effective as I am sleeping mcuh more at work

Bettymum · 12/06/2009 10:01

I had a dream last night that I went for my scan and there was a smiling baby
Makes an improvement on recent dreams which have often been quite violent and gory which isn't very nice. At least they're just dreams.

Geekylass · 12/06/2009 12:32

Hello everyone, may I join too? It's very early days for me, according to the due date calculator I will be a first-time mum around the 15th of February (quite disappointed we haven't got any Valentine's Day babies yet, although they never make an appearance when they are supposed to, do they?). I am absolutely bricking it, as I am 37 and will be 38 by the time my little sproglet is born, so we are not going to tell ANYONE (oh, except all of Mumsnet of course!) for as long as we can keep it to ourselves.

I am going out to buy folic acid and ginger biscuits today (even though I'm not feeling that nauseous yet, just a bit dizzy). I am scared to make an appointment with my GP so soon, tho, do you think it'll be okay to hold off for a few weeks until we feel a bit more confident that it's going to stick? And is there anything else I should buy/do in these early days? I really need some experienced Mums to help me here, I am totally clueless about this subject

As my main pregnancy symptom is huge amounts of wind I think I have safely dispersed with any romantic notions about it all! I suppose that's better than thinking it's all going to be wonderful and becoming hugely disappointed (isn't it??). Hoping I will get the chance to send OH out at 3 in the morning for pickles and ice-cream soon!

Pops78 · 12/06/2009 14:18

Hello Everybody,

Congrats to you all. Can I pls join too? Have just spent the last hour reading this thread all the way through from the 1st of you and it is all so very re-assuring. Like Geeklass it's v.early days (due 13th Feb) for me and I'm terrified it won't stick. In fact the slightest twinge has freaked me out. I found out Tues and was totally not expecting it as we are all booked to get married next June and that was our current project. Frankly this is a load more exciting and we are thrilled!

I feel so worried though as I keep getting cramps but, though I know this can be bad, now I know lots of you get these symptoms and it can be normal so hopefully that is the case with me.

I may regret it later but also wish I had more symptoms for reassurance. It's so irrational. I do feel tired and achy, can't sleep in also. Is a blocked nose seriously a symptom as I have one?

Hello Geekylass and Pops78, congratulations and welcome!
Re cramps, I had them a lot last week and every time it made me think something was wrong, but I think it's just things starting to move, they seem to have gone now.
Re GP, you can go now, and he/she will probably tell you to make a booking-in appointment with your midwife, which will probably not be for a few weeks. No harm in letting your GP know you are preggers!

Pops78 · 12/06/2009 14:48

Thanks Bettymum.
I actually headed straight there on Wed and the GP has sent off my letter to the Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead for my app. Another daunting thing of where to go, I have read awful things about nearly all the London Hospitals, including Royal Free. Does anyone have any hospital recommendations in London and/or knowledge of the Royal Free? It's weird to have to think about this now....

twoplusone · 12/06/2009 15:28

Congratulations to all the newbies..
i had it confirmed at the Drs today due date they worked out is the 12/02/10 so will change the list. I have a mw appointment for 14/07 then a scan will be booked for the week after. Had a quick chat with the mw today re my pains as my lower back is also killing me.. but she coinfirmed that as it is my 4th pregnancy all y aches and twinfges will come sooner.. so not to worry it is the ligaments softening.. If the pains in the tummy pelvic area get worse then have to go to Aand E and get it checked just to make sure.

Everyone round here knows that I am pg DH and I just couldnt keep our months shut or the grins of our faces!! Think I will ut it on my facebook for all my freinds in the UK lotys of positive thinking for everybody.. It all feels so much more real now that I have had it confirmed....

Welcome new mummies to be!

Dont worry about cramps unless they come with bleeding.

When I found out I was pregnant this time bang on 4 weeks, I was so bloated that I looked pregnant and had lots of cramps all day and actually felt like I was about to come on my period any minute. This lasted for over a week. I am 6 1/2 weeks now with no cramps at all but green 24 hours a day! - torture! My tummy has also gone back to normal now too.

But someone was worried about no symptoms, please dont worry, I had hardly any with my first and I know quite a few people who had normal pregnancies and healthy babies and had no symptoms at all. Every pregnancy is different so try and relax and enjoy this lovely time. If you can escape sickness then thats great.

I know it can be reasurring to have some symptoms but this 24 hours sickness I have is driving me and I'm only 6 weeks!!!

5am this morning I had to get up and get some grapes. fruit and ready salted crisps seem to help when i feel my worst. I have been eating so much fruit that I have to go as soon as I wake each morning no pregnancy constipation for me.

My nipples are bright pink still with no sign of darkness like they say. They never grow anyway until my milk comes in but they feel totally normal. So we all get different pregnancy symptoms, i have to say i'd prefer growing breasts to sickness

Everywhere I go with my three year old she announces like a town crier - "My mummy has a baby in her belly", on buses, shopping queues etc. Bit embarassing especially as I dont look pregnant.

Hope you are all getting lots of TLC, i'm trying to get as much as pos here. With my other two pregnancies, I tried to just get on with it but this time I getting what I can get. "Dh, would you mins getting me..." etc - its great!

Bettymum · 12/06/2009 16:24

My DH has offered to hoover upstairs, clean the bathrooms and do the laundry this weekend. I am to say the least.
If he does it I will let you all know!

Gidders · 12/06/2009 16:28

Congratulations Geekylass and Pops!

Pops - I'm in London too, and I know what you mean about hospital scare stories. I'm in South East though, mine will be Kings College, so I can't help you with the Royal Free.

re. cramps, i've had all sorts of strange pains ever since I found out I was pregnant, mostly in the night. My stomach is also making a noise I can only describe as creaking - strange!

Devotion - I'm still getting morning sickness pretty much 24 hours a day as well, it's horrible, isn't it. The seabands have helped, but I still feel like I have a hangover every day - not fair! I'm currently trying homeopathic remedies, not sure yet if it's helping.

Thanks Gidders and Devotion, all very reassuring stuff. I am just a paro wreck. I have never felt so much going on inside me and it's so early so I think I am going mad, prob mainly wind LOL. Going to try that fennel tea someone mentioned.

makingafamily · 12/06/2009 20:32

Hey

Hope everyone's having a good week. I'm so relieved its friday as this week ive been exhausted and i seem to have developed some problems with spacail walking!! As keep bumping into stationary objects, chairs, desks, fire extinguishers etc and my memory seems to have turned to mush!!!

Also cant decide if ive got really bad hayfever or am coming down with a cold. Any suggestions for medication i can whilst pregnant?

Twoplus looks like we are due on the same day

Geeky and Pops i'm a first timer too and am also a paraniod wreck lol

Pops i'm still under the fertility clinic at the Homerton and as we live in Hackney is our nearest hospital. Dont know much about the Royal Free, although when i worked for Camden a few years ago it had a good reputation then

Hope everyone has a lovely relaxing weekend planned

makingafamily · 12/06/2009 20:33

Meant to say we have our first scan booked in 25th June

RoseBlossoms · 12/06/2009 21:26

Hi again confirmed at doctors this morning. So epu clinics will just scan anyone? like a walk in clinic? I'm going to google and see if there is one near me! I seem to have slipped off the list so i'll add my self again

Hi Roseblossom, most epu's are referral only by GP, unless you say you're in quite a lot of pain/bleeding... I think the St Georges Tooting unit is unusual in that respect. But you should definitely search around - even ring a local unit and ask. I phoned the Chelsea and Westminster and they told me about St Georges.

My two dc were born at Chelsea and Westminster, but now I'm over the river in Clapham and I haven't a clue about the hospitals. Will definitely be researching - after a few certain early milestones.

I loved the C&W.. but I can't advise on what it is like there to actually give birth because I didn't go into that. Elective c-sections both times. Lovely.

Obviously I would add that I have nothing against ladies who want to give birth alternatively!

preggybear · 13/06/2009 08:16

May be a little early, but my sister (who is 31 weeks) has sent me some e-mails about freebies.

www.beamingbaby.co.uk are doing a Free Eco Disposable Nappy Trial Pack, one per household.

and

www.huggiesclub.co.uk/littleswimmers/free_sample.aspx are doing one free swim nappy per household‏

I'm a first timer too and have been getting tummy pains (mostly when I hungry or at night) and very light bleeding. Doctors has said it can be totally normal. I have a cousin who didn't found out she was pregnant untiil 7 months because she still had bleeding all the way through!!!
