Due Feb 2010

Afternoon,

I can't find a due in Feb thread, but I suppose it's very early still!

Got my BFP on tuesday, with a due date of Feb 3. It's still not quite sunk in - I've had to take another three tests since then just to check

I'm spending far too much time already planning for this baby when I should be working, please tell me I'm not the only one who is completely obsessed. And that I will calm down eventually!

Anyway, would love to chat with some other newly upduffed types.

Hi all!,

All well my end, however for some reason I keep doing pregnancy tests just to make sure...I think it was because I got such an early result. They all still say the same...positive. You would think I would just take it in my stride being a mum of 2 already! but hey I just love being pregnant and am so looking forward to it all again.

Hope everyone is ok still!

xx

devotion · 07/06/2009 15:24

ah me too bettyjack

i've already started to find things to ease the sickness, pure orange juice ice pops seem to be helping.

shall we start a list of tried and tested for "all day" sickness:

  1. Good old ginger biscuits
  2. Crackers
  3. Orange ice pops
  4. Sean bands (accupressure bands for your wrist)
Squarah · 07/06/2009 19:10

Did the run!! It was horrendous weather - thunder and heavy, cold rain. I was soaked to the skin but ran it with a friend and feel really elated to have done it. Managed 5km in 31 minutes and feel I could have gone further and faster - feel really proud of myself as I haven't done much exercise in a long time! My lovely DH had run a hot bath for me and brought me a fishfinger sandwich too - sorted me right out.

I'm now absolutely shattered. Managed a little nap earlier but then had to take my DS downstairs after his nap too. Hope his afternoon naps get longer!

Welcome new ladies, especially Musicalmummyjules - don't panic about your dates. Last time I was convinced that I was at least 10-14 days further on than I actually was.

I've had small waves of nausea but grazing on food is helping. What's the earliest you've gone to bed so far? I'm hopeless at getting early nights even when I'm knackered so need some encouragement!

Tips for sickness:-

  1. Keep biscuits by bed (digestives for me) and eat them before you even get up
  2. Then have proper breakfast before doing the rest of your stuff
  3. Eat all the time, even just before bed if needed
  4. Salt worked for me - marmite toast and pickled onion monster munches. Yum!
  5. Sleep. Definitely more sick when more tired.
  6. Drive rather than be a passenger in a car if possible.
flyingcloud · 07/06/2009 21:22

Hello, just found this thread and haven't read all the way through (as I'm knackered and now off to bed despite 9 hours sleep last night).
Add me to the list!! So excited, first time pregnant. Haven't told anyone yet and really not sure if I have worked out my due date right
(periods are quite irregular and the the one before conception came at 25 days on the 28 April but they usually come 28 days plus) I think I'm about six weeks ish.

Only symptoms so far have been bloating, fuller boobs and starting in the last couple of days aching pelvis and back and the odd abdominal twinge, although that might be all the fruit and vet I'm eating.

I'm ridiculously excited! Good luck everyone. xx

Hi Ladies,

Thought this might be a good place to post a first trimester question. I got my BFP on Saturday so (fingers crossed) due date will be 11th Feb 2010.

Now, I've got my regular yoga class tonight, been doing yoga for years and I'm not sure what to do. My DH is the only person who knows and it would feel really strange to tell my yoga instructor before those closest to me. I also had a MC last year so I'm a little nervous of telling anyone at this early stage. Should I attend and do I have to tell my instructor or is there a discrete way I can ask him to advise me without directly telling him?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Apart from slight anxiety I am absolutely thrilled to be pregnant and hoping that all goes well this time. I actually stopped all exercise last time round so MC was unrelated.

Bettymum · 08/06/2009 09:59

Morning ladies, hello to all the new people!
CailinEireannach I used to do a bit of yoga and I think the only things you're not really supposed to do are things like the downward dog, or anything where you're squashing or squeezing your middle. I believe the other bits are fine. However I am NOT a yoga or antenatal teacher so you'd be best to check with someone who knows better
The morning sickness hit me in a big way yesterday, we were doing the washing up after my friend's hen and all of a sudden I got the shakes and went very pale. It was like the worst hangover ever which is ironic since I had been drinking water all evening . We went out for poached eggs and toast and I felt much better. Hope everyone is feeling well today!

ktpie · 08/06/2009 10:11

Morning! Welcome to CailinEirennach and Flyingcloud and any other new people I have missed.

Squarah - Congratulations on the run! Embarassed to say I have been out running only twice since I had my DS and I think he is a little older than yours so a rubbish excuse! I guess now is not the time to start again.

I should use your tip about biscuits by the bed, I have to run down and get a biscuit to nibble while I get the breakfast stuff out.

Cailin - not sure about the yoga, do you think you can trust the instructor not to say anything to anyone? It's funny the random people you end up telling first because of that sort of thing!

Better go and raid the kitchen again, just had some flapjack but already feeling rubbish.

Bettymum · 08/06/2009 10:23

ktpie talking of random people the first person that knew I was pregnant with DD was the bra fitting lady in John Lewis. A good fortnight before any of our family knew! Boobs don't seem to have expanded quite so rapidly this time

Gidders · 08/06/2009 12:34

Hello everyone and congratulations to all the new people!

I can't believe I was actually looking forward to having morning sickness because it would make the pregnancy seem real - I feel vile.

Told the family at the weekend, they were all very happy. I didn't know what to expect because it was a huge suprise for them, so that is a relief.

Flyingcloud - It's my first time too, and my last period was also on April 28, so our babies should have the same due date! It is so exciting, isn't it?

OP posts:
flyingcloud · 08/06/2009 14:09

Congratulations Gidders and glad that breaking the news went well. We still haven't told anyone yet. Just as a matter of interest - how pregnant did you say you were to people (I find working from the first day of last period very confusing).

No morning sickness here, have a very early meeting with my boss tomorrow who is not going to be happy with me being pregnant (just been relocated and promoted) so hoping it doesn't come just yet (preferably not at all!)

Good luck with it all, lets keep each other posted on progress. I've got a blood test on Thursday to confirm (I'm in France) and to do all the other bloodwork.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 08/06/2009 14:25

Told my parents last night - they have been sworn to secrecy though as it is so early.
We will probably tell MIL fairly soon too, but maybe hold off a bit longer as I think she might struggle more to keep it quiet, they are very sociable so there is just much more temptation to share the news or at least drop hints! I don't mind her and my parents knowing, but wouldn't want anyone else to know yet just in case.

Gidders · 08/06/2009 14:49

Flyingcloud - I told people I was six weeks pregnant, based on this website www.askbaby.com/due-date-calendar.htm?period_date=28-04-2009

CailinEireannach · 08/06/2009 18:07

Thanks Bettymum and ktpie, have decided to go to the class tonight but rather than say "I'm pregnant", I'm going to try to ease my guilt about telling a near stranger by asking his advice on how safe it is to do yoga in the first trimester and if he says it's okay but with some modifications (which I'm hoping he will), I'll then ask him if he could just point out which ones they are - I know he'll know that I'm asking for a reason but he is a man so he could remain clueless :-)

devotion · 08/06/2009 20:31

hello and congrats to the new mummies!

i've been suffering so bad today that i had to go back to bed and go into college late. i have not stopped eating - its the only thing that helps. luckily there are moments i feel normal so it i get respites like that then i can cope.

keep posting your tips on easing morning sickness. tried the biscuit thing this morning too and that definitely helped me get through a shower.

contacted my hospital about recording my scan on my camcorder and they wont let me - so annoying! i offered to pay but they said its not their policy!

it does not interfer with equipment and it would be a distraction. feel like a little spoild child. i'm trying to think if a way to do it sneakly! dh wears big coat and pokes the lens out when the sonographers back is turned. all she can say is "can you turn that off please"... hmmm might just give it a go and see.

devotion · 08/06/2009 20:33

MyNameIsInigoMontoya - i bet they're really excited to have another grandchild and they'll be eating their hands to keep it in. my mum is rubbish.

telling is so lovely x

ktpie · 09/06/2009 09:03

Cailin - how did the yoga go? I have a dentist appointment on friday so he will be one of the first people we tell!

Devotion - for some reason the image of trying to sneakily film the scan has made me laugh! Personally I can never make head nor tail of the scan and have to have it all pointed out.

Flyingcloud - it always seems odd to me that the way they work out how many weeks pregnant you are, you aren't actually pregnant for the first couple of weeks, does that make sense!

Bettymum · 09/06/2009 09:45

daisydot any news??? x

bettyjack · 09/06/2009 14:38

When I had my 12 week scan last in 07, my OH used his phone to record it. They are really good these days and it came out fine, I still have it now on my pc! lol

They will not know if he holds it in right position and just looks at scan.

Ruby01 · 09/06/2009 16:07

Hello everyone have just added myself to the list- am almost 6 weeks and feeling the sore boobs and extreme tiredness - have jumped awake at my desk 3 times today! I am also suffering the nasal block thing at night, waking up with a dry mouth is awful- but am really garetful in a way as suffered an eptopic last last autumn and and a mmc in January - lets hope this one sticks.

Good luck to everyone else on this list

Ruby01 · 09/06/2009 16:32

sorry one more symptom - loads of my hair is falling out - i thought it was meant to get lush and thick during pregnancy - at this rate i will have none left!

devotion · 09/06/2009 17:44

Hello Ruby01 - the lovely hair and skin stage usually comes in the 2nd trimester. Thats my fav bit - usally the sickness is gone, you have a lovely bump and you look lovely and healthy.

My sister brought around my seabands today - thank goodness! I can not believe how much moaning I have done since just yesterday with this sickness.

I'm not sure if its just a placebo effect but shortly after wearing them i feel almost back to normal and when i start feeling sick i noticed the bands have moved. Its really important you have them in the right place and you can add a bit of pressure when feeling really sick so I recommend them. They helped my sister too although my friend said she noticed no difference wearing them.

I'm just so glad they seem to be helping.

Another tip for the sickness list that i forgot was:

Hot water with teaspoon of honey and slice of lemon - leave for five mins to mix before drinking, yummy!

Cailin - how did your yoga go, can you still do most of the moves? I went to antenatal yoga classes when pregnant both times, I have to say they were not really a work out but more relaxing. Alot of us would fall asleep - i loved it! Maybe you could find a local one later on. I think you have to be 16 weeks, but because you already do it it maybe different for you.

x

CailinEireannach · 09/06/2009 18:07

Hello, lots of sympathy to all of you feeling a bit green at the moment. So far all I feel is really really tired in the evenings but then can be awake at night for hours!

Thanks for asking about the yoga class ktpie and devotion. The yoga teacher was really nice, he said it was fine to do the class until 12 weeks and just to go at my own pace until then, but I should probably try to find a pregnancy yoga class after that - was very relieved! He also gave me an email address of a lady who did yoga all through her pregnancies and also does aqua births so I think I'll drop her a line! It does feel very early to be thinking about the actual birth though .

Devotion - I think I will try and get some of those bands, didn't last pregnancy as I was working and thought it would totally give the game away!

Cailin - glad the yoga went well!

I keep falling asleep on the sofa then waking up to find DS getting up to mischief. Today he was rummaging through the bin!

Hi Ruby and welcome!

Stumblebum · 10/06/2009 07:01

Hi everyone!

I've not posted for a while as I had a little wobble and convinced myself I wasn't pg as I wasn't having any symptoms. However, was really sick and tired again yesterday so feel much better!

When do they do the first scan nowadays?
(sound v old, it's been 5 years since my last one)
