Due Feb 2010

Afternoon,

I can't find a due in Feb thread, but I suppose it's very early still!

Got my BFP on tuesday, with a due date of Feb 3. It's still not quite sunk in - I've had to take another three tests since then just to check

I'm spending far too much time already planning for this baby when I should be working, please tell me I'm not the only one who is completely obsessed. And that I will calm down eventually!

Anyway, would love to chat with some other newly upduffed types.

Nobody around today?

I am feeling tired and a bit blah today, but other than that, doing fine.

The nurse told me yesterday at my scan that they could see bruising beside the sac where it had burrowed in, and the bleeding I had the other week was probably left over from that. I did have implantation bleeding around the time of implantation, but I didn't know it could sit in there for a while. She said if there is any more light bleeding, then there's a good chance it's more of the same, which was reassuring.

It measured at 19mm. DS is fascinated at how small 19mm is!!

Pops78 · 22/07/2009 15:44

Hi Mawbroon,

sounds like scan was good and that info on the bleeding must be reassuring. Bizarre isn't how small and yet how developed they are!

I tried the pill my doctor gave me for nausea last night and it really did make me feel better today, much less nausea. Even though its supposed to be fine for baby I still don't want to take it every day, just in case.

So fed up with tiredness and nausea jus feel like hermit at mo so what am I gonna be like later. I can't stop watching Portland babies on health channel and all these births, every one makes me cry. Must say the midwife led care of a private hospital does look so nice but could never afford that.

chinook · 22/07/2009 20:13

Portland Babies, that's a blast from the past. Saw them all first time round. Will have to have another look at them. My midwife has strongly recommended a local birthing centre for my delivery instead of the local hospital. She says it is like a hotel and I am hoping it is like the Portland!

Pops - are you getting excited about your scan, I think we are on the same day next Tues? I am nervous even though I had one at 8 weeks which was fine. I just want it to be over so I can start getting excited, which I haven't been yet at all.

Got told off by shop assistant in M & S today for insisting on buying underwired bras instead of those delightful maternity ones. Back off lady, they are my boobs not yours!!

Think someone asked about skinny maternity jeans the other day. I saw some surprisingly good ones in H&M for £30. Good quality, very skinny fitting and flattering even on my thighs.

BobbieRainbow · 22/07/2009 20:16

Hi All

I'm a serial lurker, but thought it about time I took the plunge and joined in!

I'm 9 weeks pregnant with baby number 4, we have 3 DS's, once the new addition arr
ives, we'll have 3 under 3

Feel totally different this time though, not much morning sickness, but sore boobs aplenty, also plenty of weeing and having nightmares at night!

x

becks130 · 22/07/2009 20:31

Hi all,

mawbroon Congratulations on your scan, it really puts your mind at ease doesn't it.

My MS seems to have gone, I was VERY worried but then I done some research and found out sometimes the placenta takes over around 10 weeks which is what I am. I still have tiredness like you wouldn't believe and my boobs still hurt.

becks130 · 22/07/2009 20:40

BobbieRainbow Welcome and Congratulations, you are not alone with the terrible nightmares and weeing, we were having a moan about it the other day!

motherof2boys · 22/07/2009 21:26

chinook - I had sore boobs between DS2 and DS3 (4 years) and even hurt in a particular place always down the side of my boob where it joins the chest. I had lactation at one point and horrid blood stuff running out of one. A 'breast specialist' (male) told me that basically the lactation and blood stuff happens sometimes but could not explain lumpy bit that hurt (but it was 'ok'). I had had numerous bra measurings by certain high street experts in this time.

Anyway I went to Rigby & Peller at the recommendation of a friend and without even touching me with a measure they produced bras that were 4 SIZES different to those from the high street (smaller chest and bigger cup) - they fit me perfectly and within one week horrid lumpy hurting bit had gone. (to do with poorly fitted underwire)

When I was pg wth DS3 I got enormous boobs by 6 weeks - went to R&P and they said underwired were fine when pg all the way through, except if the cup size gets so big that the wire starts rto poke into your armpit.

So what I am saying is that the people who solved a big problem with my ill fittinmg bras actually causing me medical probs said it was just fine to wear underwired. And going there was the best money I ever spent...

I have my 12 week scan and consultant appt tomorrow. Unreal to believe that will be OK...

mawbroon · 22/07/2009 22:05

I have had my first pg induced blubbing.

We watched "The Duchess" on dvd tonight, and the bit where she has to give away the baby set me off.

Pops78 · 22/07/2009 22:47

chinook - totally excited for our scans next tues though of course nervous too. Will all be real then. Yeah I can tell the Portland are old but good for getting used to diff labours and being ready though I know it's early.

Mawbroon - that made me blub in the duchess too. End of her life seemed so sad from such a beginning...

Motherof2boys - good luck for scan 2 morrow. Wish I could afford r&p bras.

Beck130 - wish my placenta would take over. Now nausea pill has worn off feel mega blurgh again.

Cograts and welcome bobbyrainbow.

skibelle · 23/07/2009 09:30

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only Portland Babies addict! I've got them all series linked on Sky+ so DH thinks I am a complete loon. If, for medical reasons, I need a CS then my health insurance will pay for it privately, so checking it out just in case! Wasn't there a 'horror story' about the Portland a while back? I don't think I'd choose to go that far away from home really (we live just outside London). Can't believe how far some people travel to go there! One woman the other night was from Dover and they induced her, purely because she lived so far away. Not sure what I think about that really, but prob won't be saying that in 7 months time!

Have been really sick this week, but at different times of day so it's not like I can predict it. Luckily I'm on school holiday because there is no way I could be teaching like this.

Hope everyone else is getting along well. Got my 12 week scan on 6th Aug, although will actually be 11+4ish. Seems a long way off and am worried already! x

skibelle · 23/07/2009 09:35

Becks and Bobbie, have also had the weird dream/nightmares. Yesterday I was attacked by a shark and found out that very occasionally humans could be pregnant with shark babies. Was really nervous about telling people that my baby was actually several small sharks and that it was very disappointing because I wanted to buy a cot and the sharks would die if I put them in a cot! I woke up convinced it was true!!

Pops78 · 23/07/2009 09:50

Lucky you about insurance skibelle though obviously hope cs not necc at all! It's more the nice treatment that I love when watching Portland as I hear so many awful stories about uncaring, unsympathtic, miserable midwifes on busy labour wards in nhs hospitals. Just seems like prgnancy is one big worry, wish I could be blase, calm, glowing pregnant woman!

Pops78 · 23/07/2009 09:52

LOL at shark story...hilarious..these weird dreams are freaky...

Pops78 · 23/07/2009 15:07

Seems so quiet on here the last few days. I'm just really sad with no life I guess because I am stuck on sofa cra king up completely because I feel so sick. My mum has to put down her/my cat tomorrow because at 18 he is really ill and in pain. I watched him born and now she wants me to go with her to watch him die. Just had major meltdown of tears over it...how silly. Would it be really selfish of me not to go, its just because I am such a wreck at mo?

flyingcloud · 23/07/2009 15:58

I'm kind of lurking until my scan on Monday.

Pops - I don't know what you should do - I think if you are physically up to it you should go, but I can see that it's not an easy one.

General question - after having children do you ever feel sexy again? I feel like that I am now (aged 28) consigned to the scrap heap.

Pops78 · 23/07/2009 16:09

flyingcloud, I haven't got kids until this one comes (hopefully) but do also feel like my body will never be the same after this and I am going to be 31 in Aug. This is totally ridiculous though cos I know loads of sexy women who are mothers and well over 31 so why should we be any different. I think this is all just part of the hormones and total irrationality as I am sure many will agree with on here. It's also cos I got made redundant and am stressed about trying to restart my career after being off with baby so other than the wonderfulness of having this baby feel a bit crap about myself in general.

mawbroon · 23/07/2009 17:44

flyingcloud - you will feel sexy again, but sometimes it can take a while.

Some women find they like their bodies more after childbearing because they are so proud of what their body did.

If you are breastfeeding, it can sometimes (or sometimes not) take a while for your libido to come back.

The main factor is feeling unsexy is usuall that you are bloody knackered!!!!

CaractacusPotty · 23/07/2009 19:28

Have also been lurking. Started with some brown loss on monday. Hospital arranged a scan this afternoon, though, and all well. Plus the hospital's dates much more in keeping with mine (unlike the dodgy one last week on the portable scanner), so relief all round. No idea where the loss came from, but it seems to have stopped now, so will just chalk it up to experience! Now I'm definitely going to have to tell my parents!!

twoplusone · 23/07/2009 19:57

Got my scan in the morning and i am really nervous about it.. it is at 9.15 will let you know how i get on hopefully all will be well.. nothing to suggest otherwise other than my head!!

Re feeling sexy after the children.. The older i am getting the more I appreciate what my body has gone through.. have also accepted I am never going to get the figure back i had when I was 19years old keep looking at piccies taken 6 months before i fell pg with DD.. I was a size 8-10 5ft 7..

Since having her I have never got below a size 14.. generally i stick at an 18!!!.. After this baby I will seriously give it another go to get rid of all the excess flab.. Atleast my hubby finds me attractive and that is the main thing.. and when I go out i still get chatted up and people think i am younger than I am which s good..
My hubby laughs at me when I get home and tell him i was chatted uptonight.. it makes me feel so good though that someone other than him finds me attractive...

devotion · 23/07/2009 22:48

motherof2boys - hope your scan went well x

mawbroon - on your scan x

CaractacusPotty - i'm glad your scan showed all was well, that must have been worrying for you. doesnt brown blood mean old blood? so not from baby.

flyingcloud - since having children and breastfeeding it speeded my metabolism and i guess i changed my diet so i am slimmer now then before kids... well not now because since 13 weeks ago i have been eating all day!!!

but like someone said you can feel proud of your body after making a baby and yes it does take awhile afterall it took many months to make a baby so just as many to get back to normal. you should give yourself a year to naturally go back, if you eat healthy and exercise then it naturally happens with no diet.

as for libido bf can have an effect on that which i called my contraception but sex for me is the same although slightly less often but thats a mutual thing due to both being tired!

after take your time and make time!!!

devotion · 23/07/2009 22:49

twoplusone - forgot to say enjoy your scan tomorrow and hope you have a happy, friendly and enthusiastic sonographer

scoobyd00 · 24/07/2009 07:31

twoplusone - hope your scan goes well this morning.

It's good to hear all the other scans are going well. I've still got over 2 weeks to wait for mine and it seems like forever! My booking appt with the mw is 4th Aug and the scan th 10th. I'm currently in the paranoid stage as I don't have many symptoms!

Pops78 · 24/07/2009 10:19

Twoplusone - hope your scan went well, do pls let us know.

Sccooby - I know that paro feeling all too well. Constantly freaking. Don't worry about not having symptoms, you are prob just one of the very lucky one's...I can't keep much down at all, its awful.

MusicalMummyJules · 24/07/2009 10:31

Hey Guys

Hope you are all well. Watercress - how are you feeling? My friend is also pregnant and has swine flu but is feeling much better so hope you are too.

Chamois - so sorry to hear your news and hope you are getting lots of support from family and friends.

Well my news: I'm still waiting for my scan date (have now been waiting 3 1/2 weeks), the first doctor didn't even bloody send the letter off, the second doctor's letter got 'lost' in the post? and finally after my booking in appointment with my LOVELY midwife, she has rang up and prodded them. Apparently I'm on the urgent list. Midwife thinks I may be due earlier than my due date as she can feel the bump etc! Scary and makes me want to have the scan even quicker - I keep on ringing the department up to bug them and they keep on saying 'were sorting it out today/this afternoon/tomorrow morning' Hmmmm

Nevermind, apart from that I'm still feeling sick but less tired thank goodness. Trying to tackle my ever so messy house!

I have brought some books for my DD about becoming a big sister and a book for me about having a 2nd child - ahhhh!

Hope everyone has a good day.
