Due Feb 2010

Gidders · 22/05/2009 16:52

Afternoon,

I can't find a due in Feb thread, but I suppose it's very early still!

Got my BFP on tuesday, with a due date of Feb 3. It's still not quite sunk in - I've had to take another three tests since then just to check

I'm spending far too much time already planning for this baby when I should be working, please tell me I'm not the only one who is completely obsessed. And that I will calm down eventually!

Anyway, would love to chat with some other newly upduffed types.

OP posts:

I kept my ds's pregnancy a secret right up until I had the 12 week scan. It seemed right at the time, but now I am not so sure why I did it! I used to be nearly puking umpteen times a day and managed to hide it!

I am starting to feel a bit queasy now and the whiff of the lunch I made today made my mouth water, but not in a good way.

mowmi · 28/06/2009 13:59

Apples - I went for a scan at what I thought was 6 weeks and saw nothing but an empty sac.
Like you this had happened to me before so was devastated.
I then had another scan at 6+6 convinced they'd tell me it was still empty I couldn't even bring myself to look at the screen.
The lovely nurse laughed and told me I was writing the pregnancy off way too early and there was yolk sac + baby and hb - I can't tell you how empty it was only 6 days earlier!
They then redated me and I think I was 4 days out despite being fairly sure of my dates (only had sex twice around ov) I'm now 10+3 after having a scan on Friday they've redated me back to my original dates.
This is my long winded way of saying just because it happened last time doesn't mean it will again and there is a massive chance all will be well when you go back - I'll be lurking to see how you are doing.
best wishes to you x

nictorina · 28/06/2009 14:47

I may be being stupid (forgive me!) - do you have to pay to have a scan before the standard first scan?

mawbroon · 28/06/2009 14:57

nictorina - it varys from area to area, but many people will be getting early scans because they have previously miscarried. Mine is being done at 8 weeks and I "qualify" because of an earlier mc. I think in the normal course of things, you will have to wait until 12 weeks, unless you are prepared to have one privately.

CaractacusPotty · 28/06/2009 15:04

Hey mawbroon! Congrats!! I'm not ready to come out from under my wraps, but in fact we have met... at my sister's house... a memorable halloween party with copious green goo!! But apart from dh and a friend who I randomly told today, no-one knows, and because (as you know) dsis uses MN, I'm keeping under this name. You're sworn to secrecy!!

CaractacusPotty · 28/06/2009 15:06

ps re the bfeeding, I bfed ds1 until I was 20w with ds2. My nips didn't actually get sore at all, but ds1 self-weaned, which isn't uncommon. I read (on MN!) that bfeeding while pg can make MS worse, but I've got to say I feel worse this time round and ds2 self-weaned ages ago!!
Congrats again though.

mawbroon · 28/06/2009 15:08

CaractacusPotty - Congratulations!!!

Hmm, perhaps you should either delete that last post, or tell your afore mentioned sis just in case she is looking under my name for anything??!!

mawbroon · 28/06/2009 15:11

My ds is a lot older now than yours was though if I have worked this out correctly.

I feel like he is never going to wean, ever. He is so determined. I would be surprised if he self weaned during this pregnancy, but I guess stranger things have happened.

CaractacusPotty · 28/06/2009 15:17

Yeah, ds1 was about 15m when he self-weaned.

Hmm, maybe you're right about the posts - she found out about ds2 by MN too . Maybe I should just be sensible and tell her!!!

Doctorskidaddle · 28/06/2009 20:16

becks - great news you must be so relieved

caractauspotty - I wouls def tell your sis or deleter the message - I have got myself in all sorts of trouble posting things which I think are anonymous

nictorina - congratulations!! Sounds to me like your symptoms are just starting and in a week's time when you have your head down the toilet bowl you will be wishing you hadn't wanted more symptoms!! I had symptoms just like you last week and now I am in MS hell! And then add extreme exhaustion and splitting headaches into the bargain and that pretty much sums it up... hopefully you will escape it but I reckon it is actually just round the corner

apples - fingers crossed for your next scan - mowmi's experience sounds very encouraging

twoplusone - my house is also a state and I also can't be bothered to do anything about it. Any smell sets off my MS so I want to disinfect the whole place but that would mean getting my sorry arse out of bed so it hasn't happened!

twoplusone · 28/06/2009 20:55

LOL doctorskidaddle- I motivated myself this afternoon, clothes have been put away..(well everyone elses but mine as I need t sort them out to what fits etc..) Have ckleaned the front room, washed the frontroom and hallway carpets and the kitchen is 75percent done!!
Dh has took the car this week so now i need to get lifts or find out bus timmings..or i could walk the 30mins to camp!!! DS2 has his 2 year check tommorrow at the doctors.. well with the HV there. As he has the car also means I cant go to slimming world or netball.. must let the girls know!!

motherof2boys · 29/06/2009 09:43

hi all
totally and utterly - you asked about homebirths! I've had 2 - 1st was unplanned and involved getting ambulance 4 minutes before he was out; 2nd was planned (had al the equipment there etc) but the midwives didn't make it in time (!).

So my experience of homebirth is not straightforward - but it is handy if you have other small children in bed at the time.

Because I had the equipment there 2nd time they could at least stitch me up at home etc and that was much better than my hospital experience.

In terms of mess - this was really fine - you need to be quick with the plastic sheets (DIY store) and I found that with being so sweaty etc they were a bit slippy and felt a bit like a carrier bag so old towels on top were good - and a bit of newspaper underneath for grip. But I didn't need to chuck anything out afterwards or get a new carpet etc. First was without plastic sheet and even then no mess to speak of!

I don't know your location - if you are miles from a hospital where will you go if it hits then fan? I ended up hospital both times anyway for admin reasons even though babies perfect.

With DS3 (induced following my late mc) I was in hospital and they do run around after you a lot more than I had at home. I would think about the other arrangements for DS1 - if you are at home you would still want to have him looked after (I didn't have this and when DS1 got up I had to still do his nappy!)- whereas when I was in hospital my DSs had to go elsewhere so that was a tiny relief (although of course we had a timed appointment which isn't the case usually!)

I'm not able to advise you on the medical side but my DSs popped out so fast there was no time to panic on that, but practically it's cosy at home but you need to think if someone is going to look after you there!

mawbroon · 29/06/2009 11:57

No homebirth for me, I can say that for sure.

DS was a cs because I have a bicornuate uterus and he got stuck in the breech position with his foot up by his ear.

The doc has referred me to the consultant already, presuamably a previous section plus a bicornuate uterus will make them a bit twitchy.

I have no idea if I will have a section or not. I think it will depend on how this one ends up positioned towards the end.

I am 5 weeks today, and starting to feel a bit blah, which is good I guess........

becks130 · 29/06/2009 15:01

Is anyone else dieing from this heat??!! It is killing me!!

I went to the Dr this morning who has now referred me to the hospital and she was very positive

I am not coping very well with the MS, the heat is making even worse

Doctorskidaddle · 29/06/2009 17:14

me too becks - it is unbearable I didn't even go to work today I felt so awful. Everyone else seems to be basking in it and I am fantasising about snowcapped mountains and glaciers!

well done twoplusone with the cleaning - my house is still a tip - but I am getting used to it...

I planned a HB with DD but then had to go to hospital due to a bleed. Wouldn't let me have a HB with DS because I had a PPH with DD but I reckon I will be allowed this time as DS's birth was straightforward. But motheroftwoboys - isn't a HB a bit difficult when your DC are at home? Or do you send them elsewhere when you go into labour?

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 29/06/2009 20:26

Got my 12 weeks scan letter in the post today, for August, I'm so chuffed. Got my early scan in 10 days, too.

Poor all of us with morning sickness

devotion · 29/06/2009 20:56

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied - thats exciting!

I would love a homebirth but dh says no way!

i had two tricky hospital births but found the treatment fantastic and I felt very looked after but i love the idea of giving birth at home and then getting into my own bed.

ah well!

i guess if dh is worried about it then there is no point. we both need to feel relaxed as possible.

feeling SO queasy but at least i handed all my assignments in and finished my course today. just got to cross fingers now until i get my results in August!

x

luckywinner · 29/06/2009 21:00

I am feeling very sick so I do not feel like I am tempting fate by putting my name at the bottom of the Feb thread. However I have no idea when I am due but will add this on once I have had a scan. I hope I do this right!

I have amended the list with my proper name on it.

This is a real mind f*ck this early pg stuff! I wasn't worried about miscarrying at all when I was pg with ds, but I am only a few days away from the point where I miscarried last time and although I keep telling myself not to think about it, it just keeps popping up at the front of my mind constantly. I'm not worrying about it as such, because I know there's nothing that can be done, it's kind of weird to explain.

Anyway, have stayed up far too late watching Andy Murray win the tennis!

becks130 · 30/06/2009 07:56

I feel soooooo sick I have been up since 6am!! I have actually got sick this morning and this heat is NOT helping I feel so awful I just can't face work this evening but don't know what I can say is wrong as I think it's a little too early to tell my manager, any suggestions?? I was going to take a days holiday but at such short notice I need a good excuse. If I do manage to get the evening off I am going to give acupunture a go, I will try anythin.

How's everyone else getting on with the MS??

torshihunter · 30/06/2009 09:08

Becks 130, i really feel for you! I haven't got full on MS but the waves of nausea and extreme tiredness are a trial. I told manager I had a virus and needed time off to rest, and have had some days off sick and some holiday. Like you I don't want to spill the beans at work before I'm ready. Why dont you try having a cool bath or lie under a damp sheet, that's what 'd do in a heat?

flyingcloud · 30/06/2009 09:17

Oops - thought I'd amended my due date but it's been changed back!

Started to tell people, although of the people we've told, not one single one has suffered from ms, DH now thinks I'm making it up

millymay · 30/06/2009 10:35

Hi All

Not posted for a while as been away then just been too ill to do anything else i am so fed up of feeling sick and the tiredness is a nightmare, with my first child i went to work then came home and basically just lay on the settee but this time i have so much stuff to do plus looking after my DD

I can see from all your posts that i am not the only one suffering from what i can rememeber this is the hardest time roll on 12 weeks!!!!

i am 9 weeks pregnant (10 wks on fri) and i still havent told anyone (apart from DH) everytime i see my mum it is on the tip of my tounge but i can not seem to spit it out i dont know why it just doesnt seem real yet.

i wanted an early scan as i am worried about a missed mc (as had one before) but my doctor was rubbish i recieved a letter yesterday from the hospital saying my dating scan is 24th July i will be 13 weeks so i am not impressed i am phoning then today

it is so nice to hear there are lots of us all feeling the same its hard trying to hide how ill you feel from everyone as least on here we get a bit of sympathy

motherof2boys · 30/06/2009 10:53

Mawbroon - I have been feeling the same I think following my late mc in March - previously I thought mc was a thing that 'happened' tho not to me. Now I feel that it does happen - but there is absolutely nothing I can do about it (in my case anyway) other than the usual health and diet stuff. So I shouldn't worry - it is not in my hands and I must trust. But we are human and we do worry and we want the best for our children and we need to acknowledge that too.

I have been through lot of bereavements recently and the baby's was the very worst thing ever, but it has made me stronger and made my faith stronger and I know that no matter what happens, God will be there for me and us.

Thinking of you all with ms - am dreadful also and heat here in central London is a killer - usually I like it when it's hot!

Re birth types, place of birth - I have been thinking further - I feel I almost can't think this far ahead now in my case - but IMO it really doesn't matter in the end provided there is a healthy baby and a healthy mother.

have a good day all

applesaretheonlyfruit · 30/06/2009 13:03

Hi everyone,
Mowmi, your story is positive about the heartbeat. That's encouraging and I just have to wait to next Monday.

For those ladies who are working, from my own experience, I would advise telling your employer immediately about pregnancy. Obviously this feels a bit strange when you haven't told extended family yet, but from a legal point of view, you can only be protected job-wise when you have told them. For example, if you are racking up some sick days to cope with morning sickness, it is not uncommon for an employee seeking to reduce a workforce to let go of the staff who don't appear to be fully engaged. Once they know you are pregnant, the discrimination protection means you are likely to be the last on this list..
