Due Feb 2010

Afternoon,

I can't find a due in Feb thread, but I suppose it's very early still!

Got my BFP on tuesday, with a due date of Feb 3. It's still not quite sunk in - I've had to take another three tests since then just to check

I'm spending far too much time already planning for this baby when I should be working, please tell me I'm not the only one who is completely obsessed. And that I will calm down eventually!

Anyway, would love to chat with some other newly upduffed types.

Hello

I can not believe how you are all able to keep this secret in. I could never do that.

Plus with this horrible MS you deserve al the sympathy you can get.

applesaretheonlyfruit - i agree with exactly what you said about it.

I told me boss with dd1 when I was 8 weeks pregnant, he immediatley started to give me less stressful work and thats what you need
when pregnant.

Plus if you get on with your boss then they appreciate you telling them.

I always thought of something went wrong if they knew they would be more understandable about the situation too. Not that anything will. I can see more reasons for telling people than not. I told people from 4 weeks with last two.

I can undertand people who have lost babies in the past. But you can still tell people closest to you because surely you would tell them about a mc after it happpned? I'm from quite a big family and i just have to tell them everything, plus they know when I am hiding something so exciting

I'm 9 weeks today and still feeling yuck but I dont want to speak too soon (touch wood) i seem to be getting periods of feeling ok - not 100% normal but not needing to let long sighs out iykwim.

this heat too! hope you all have fans!

laurawantsababy · 30/06/2009 15:03

Hi all, has anyone else got really bad heart burn already? I got it very late with dd but this time its me at 9 weeks. Horrible.

becks130 · 30/06/2009 19:56

I gave in and left work early, I was sick twice with half the office hearing I spoke to my manager and she had already guessed so was very nice and told me to go home.

I am now going to rest and try and stay cool.

devotion · 30/06/2009 20:50

becks130 - oh poor you but at least now they know and they will be sympathetic towards you.

i hope you didnt have far to travel home.

i'm moaning all the time about feeling sick but i should be lucky i am not actually getting sick.

right now a good 10 min cure for me is to drink a nice tall glass of Schweppes Ginger Ale with ice - mmmmmmm! Very refreshing. I'm sick of ginger biscuits and can not eat any more of them.

send dh out for some ginger ale

are you taking a day off tomorrow then?

sending you lots of hugs xxxxxxx

becks130 · 30/06/2009 21:42

Yes I am going to take tomorrow evening off, I have booked an acupunture session as I have heard that it works wounders for MS.

I just went to the toilet and there was very slight pinky discharge which has made me very nervous as I had a mmc back in late april. Has anyone else experienced this??

Pops78 · 01/07/2009 12:17

Hi All,

Nice tip on the ginger ale front Devotion gonna get some defo! I ca sympathize with all of you on this MS thing I feel absolutely awful. Being my 1st time I just didn't realize it consumed you so badly. I am lucky in that so far have not puked but am only 7+5.

I don't know how those of you at work are managing. I work from home luckily but I am getting nothing done. Just want to lye on couch all day in cool. Also, I should be eating healthily but on the rare occasion I think Ican stomach something it's crap like ritz crackers or wine gums! I got my midwife app fro 14 Jul and 12 wk scan for 28th Jul today, v.exciting but so nervous to make it there and when there still have all in place correct. This whol thing is a really long rollercoaster isn't it!

Not telling is so difficult, I am going to a family wedding this weekend and nobody except my mother knows I'm pg so they will all think I am being weird not drinking. Just pray I don't still feel this awful to boot.

Becks 130 definitely take it easy. To be on the safe side perhaps just pop a call in to doc.

scoobyd00 · 01/07/2009 12:30

Becks - I hope you're taking it easy and the d/c hasn't got any worse.

still no ms symptoms for me, infact apart from being bloated and not doing my normal intense exercise every day, I'm pretty much the same. Of course, rather than being happy with this, I'm now paranoid that something is wrong - I just can't win!!!

Pops - it's so hard when there's drink involved. I tend to accept one drink and then just keep hold of it all night or pass it onto my DH. It does mean that he gets twice as drunk as normal!

devotion - I'm the same as you. I've been telling my close family and friends as I'd want their support if I do m/c.

Hmmm cold ginger ale sounds nice even when I haven't got ms!

becks130 · 01/07/2009 13:38

I think everything is ok, it was a one off and nothing since so fingers crossed. I feel better today, but not 100% which is good in a way because if I was feeling 100% better I would be worrying.

I have my acupunture tonight so I let everyone know if it has worked.

becks130 · 01/07/2009 14:45

I spoke too soon, I feel awful again

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 01/07/2009 19:04

Hi all,

Had my first midwife appointment today. It was good. Although she said I'll be due about 28th feb/ 1st March.. so maybe I shouldn't be on this thread? I'm not sure. I'll wait for my scan and go from there.

twoplusone · 01/07/2009 19:13

hope the acupuncture works for you becks..
I do sympathise on the mS front.. I ahve never had ms like this.. it is constant doesnt give up at all.. and I hate ginger!! so wont be trying that.
Might have to see if someone from home will send me some motion sickness bands.

My friend warned me today that her DD who is in DS1 class has chicken pox.. My DD and DS1 have had them but just waiting to see if DS1 bring the virus home and passes to DS2 as DS1 has been a bit of colour today since xoming home from school.. I am sure I am immune but i will contact the MW tommorrow and ask if they need to do a blood test to make sure. Also need to tell my grandparents if DS2 does get them as they are in their mid/late seventies and are coming to visit next week for 5 days.. Which may not be a good idea ubless they are immune..
I let DH have the car this week.. boy was that a mistake.. it has ment I have had to walk to the shops and carry all the shopping back the pram was full to the brim.. tonight it was really heavy to push.. I am not letting him take it again I hate not being able to go out and about.. have a shopping day booked with DD and her frend on friday as they are off school, so we will have a walk into town.. loaded with ice drinks etc.. in the pushchair!!.

josla · 01/07/2009 19:53

hi girls,
becks - i so sympathise with the ms - i have it absolutely horrible - had it like this with DD and it never never went, was still sick and feeling sick all the time when i was admitted to hospital at 34 weeks, i hate it so much. acupuncture did help me last time, but it wore off so i had to keep going, so see how you go. the wrist bands don't help me much, or the ginger, or the sweets, it has to just be coping , one day at a time, one trip to the loo at a time. and i often lie on the bathroom floor and cry, that is all i feel i can do! pathetic i know

devotion · 01/07/2009 20:05

josla - that is SO unlucky - 34 vweeks! I would have had a nervous breakdown. poor you.

well every pregnany is different, mine were plus I spoke to a few peopl who had worse ms the first time compared to second so you never know. it may stop sooner this time.

for the last few days I have an hour here and there were I feel totally normal which is HEAVEN!

as soon as I feel normal i start to worry - silly

becks130 - glad to hear your dc has stopped

glad to hear you had a day off.

take care

x

preggybear · 01/07/2009 21:24

I had my booking in appt today. Was really please with the midwife. I was so worried she was going to be funny with me because of my weight, but she didn't say a thing! Just now waiting for my scan date. 9wk+1 today, can't wait till I can tell people. When is best? After 12 weeks of 13 weeks?

twoplusone · 01/07/2009 21:54

preggybear- glad all went well for you today. As for telling people.. that is entirely up to you, when you feel ready.. Everybody already knows about this baby, with all four of mine i have told people from the finding out at 4weeks. It is a personal thing down to you, no right or wrong way hun when ever you feel ready.. xx

becks130 · 02/07/2009 08:46

morning,

Well I had the acupunture and chinese massage last night and it was VERY relaxing. The nausea hasn't completly gone but it is a lot better. The practioner told me that it is really important NOT to drink cold drinks (even in this hot weather!) as it makes the blood circulation slower and for a healthy pregnany the blood flow has to be quite fast, she has said that I should do this until 12 weeks and the coldest drink should be at room temp, so I think i'm going to give it a try

I think I'll go back to work tonight as I feel a lot better and feel quite guilty about taking time off.

devotion · 02/07/2009 10:34

becks130 - DO NOT FEEL GUILTY [GRIN]
its one of the bonuses of being pregnant, putting yourself first!

Glad and very interested to hear about the acupunture and chinese massage helping with ms and shocked to hear about cold drinks .... thats worrying as I have been having so many with lots of ice. never heard about that before.

room temp drinks? - dont think i can handle that. normally i can only drink water room temp and dont like it from teh fridge but since being pregnant water tastes disgusting and def at room temp so i have been drinking juices mainly but with ice. i do make myself down a few glasses of water a day but its torture. my teeth are going to suffer with all this extra sugar i'm consuming. plus i never drink fizzt drinks and i;ve been drinking z-up as its does not have junk in it and ginger ale.

ah well - constant guilt trips for us mothers.

hope you dont work too hard today. i'm alone until two but got to tackle dirty kitchen and bathroom - lovely!

Pops78 · 02/07/2009 10:50

Warm/hot drinks in this weather - what torture!

I know it's not a very ladylike subject but does anyone else have terrible constipation? Even though I have drunk Fybogel, as instructed by Doctor, just cannot seem to do no 2's and when I do it's really difficult and scared I am going to push wrong thing out (if you know what I mean). Do you think pushing too much in this way can harm baby?

Pls don't laugh too hard at me, I know I sound a bit silly.....

motherof2boys · 02/07/2009 11:16

not laughing - I got piles with all 3 previous pgs but not yet with this one. I understand it is really normal as things slow down and straining is obviously not good (although I think it's highly unlikely you could push the wrong thing out).

Dr told me Fybogel before and eat loads of fruit and veg although I tend to go off it a bit (a lot)when pg. I guess prunes etc might help. Really go for it on the dried fruit and see what happens. Treat it like medicine?

I think it'll sort out - try not to worry too much.

geekfreak · 02/07/2009 12:31

Hello, I've not been on for a few days and it all sounds good news on the scans and midwife appointments (for those who have had them). But it sounds like the heat and MS misery is continuing for many1

Pops, I was struggling with constipation a week or so ago and after blaming hormones for a couple of weeks I suddenly realised that my vitamin supplement was the cause. I've switched to a folic acid only product now, and all is well again (phew).

As for the telling people, I've told my boss because he wanted me to manage a project that would have taken a year or so to see through. He definitely appreciated knowing and has gone easier on my workload since. And I've told a few friends because of not being able to drink when out (I'm a hideously bad liar and many of them are hardcore drinkers when out). Ideally, I'd wait until the 12 week scan, but it just hasn't been possible. And it's nice to tell!

I'm cream crackered today because I spent all day yesterday manning a stand at an exhibition. I was OK at the time, but am ruined today. Anyone else got sleeping sickness?

scoobyd00 · 02/07/2009 13:31

Pops - constipation is apparently very common. It's due to the high levels of progesterone, which is a muscle relaxant. Unfortunately the muscles for peraistalsis also relax and so digetsion slows down massively. I've suffered quite badly and so have read up about it. The 3 key points are:

  1. drink plenty of water
  2. eat healthily including lots of fresh fruit and veg
  3. exercise every day (just walk for 3o min)

If I'm really bad i have a couple of glasses of prune juice and take the dog for a good hours walk and that helps a lot!!! My reflexologist also recommends hot pineapple juice or hot water with the juice of a lemon squeezed in.

As motherof2boys says, you shouln't strain if possible, but wait until you need to go.

Hope this gets things moving for you!

Scooby

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 02/07/2009 13:34

Hello again, been away for a bit so just catching up...

Had my mw appointment last week which was nice, it was the same MW as last time so I let her peek in at DS (who was sleeping) as she hasn't seen him since he was tiny! Now I am waiting very impatiently for my scan date, am 8.5 weeks now so it won't be TOO much longer hopefully!

Am still not getting any real MS but I do have very sensitive insides at the mo, I keep getting fits of crampiness or squishy feelings and occasional upset stomach, and swinging between feeling really bloated and full, or starving and dizzy (mw said I have low bp so that's probably why I get dizzy). Hope it will settle down soon.

This weekend we have a big (DH's) family party on, I'm not sure what to do as I am already starting to look quite pg but we haven't told any of his family yet. I don't want them all to just guess or speculate all night, but can't find anything to wear that hides it, and not sure we will get a chance to tell people privately beforehand! Oh well...
DH keeps annoying me by saying "it'll be OK, you're driving so you've got an excuse not to drink" - I'm not worried they will guess because of not drinking, but because of the big flipping bulge coming out of my front, grrr!

becks130 · 02/07/2009 15:12

Well I can now say that the MS has returned so that was VERY short lived, not sure if the acupunture was worth £40 now

I have suffered with constipation as well, but i think that may be something to do with only being able to stomach toast.

flyingcloud · 02/07/2009 16:51

Pops - I laughed at your post - but only with relief that someone else had the same worries as me.

My MS has eased off a bit (don't want to tempt fate too much). I also thought I'd conquered the fatigue (bounced out of bed this morning) but just had a quick lie down on the sofa before tackling some work, and fell asleep for a good hour.

I'm drinking LOTS of cold drinks as it's so damn hot here in France. I also have a little ritual of my double caramel magnum which has been going on for the last week (not every day) if work takes me out and about in my car and because my cravings have veered from savoury to sweet. Today I was told by the person in the BP shop that the Magnum was delicious but NOT GOOD. When I asked why he said "well, it's NOT GOOD for getting into a swim suit this summer is it?"

or ?? I do look a little thick around the middle...

geekfreak · 02/07/2009 17:19

Flyingcloud, you're thick around the middle because there's a small person in there! And it sounds like he or she is loving the magnums and growing fast (hence the tiredness)!

Sounds like BP man was voicing his own concerns...
