Afternoon,

I can't find a due in Feb thread, but I suppose it's very early still!

Got my BFP on tuesday, with a due date of Feb 3. It's still not quite sunk in - I've had to take another three tests since then just to check

I'm spending far too much time already planning for this baby when I should be working, please tell me I'm not the only one who is completely obsessed. And that I will calm down eventually!

Anyway, would love to chat with some other newly upduffed types.

Hi all, I was 7 weeks yesterday, had the pregnancy confirmed by the doc almost 2 and a half weeks ago. my question is, when should i expect to hear from the hospital or midwife about when my scan or first appt will be? i just noticed quite a few people on this thread seem to know already.

Hi everyone - dont mind if i join you?

I found out today that i am pregnant with number two - quite took me by surprise! I had been feeling exhausted for a couple of weeks and today i thought - hmm, i felt like this when i was......pregnant, then watched in astonishment as two lines appeared! I havent been marking my periods down on the calendar or anything, so i have absolutely no idea how far gone i am!! Is there something i should be doing? i feel so ill prepared (but very happy!).

Hi all and welcome all newbies x

I have finally got my exam out of the way, I thought I would be happy about that but now I realised why I was so calm, I had something to take my mind off everything. I have my date for a dating scan which is next Friday. I am VERY nervous but it will be nice to know how far gone I am, I keep telling myself 4 weeks that way more is better.

How are we all feeling today??? I have turned in to a hormonal witch!!! I cry and shout at EVERYTHING my poor DH, is anyone else feeling like this???

taylor1982 · 18/06/2009 20:01

bettymum my love goes out to you sweetheart so sorry
i cant even begin to imagine how you feel at the moment take care and hope you join us soon big kissis xxxxxxxxxx

tryingtobemarypoppins · 18/06/2009 20:07

Hi everyone, I had an EPU scan today as feeling a bit poorly and doctor wanted to see how if everything is ok. It took AGES to find and in the end I neeeded an internal. I thought I was 5 weeks now it seems I am 4, just, so I need to go back in 3 weeks time.
The waiting room was just terrible, silent ladies all looking at the floor. I felt terrible as I had to take my 18 month old as we only found out we had an appointment 40mins before! A mad rush today, so now have a long overdue chocolate break!

applesaretheonlyfruit · 18/06/2009 21:43

Hi Clairemcq, appointments really depend on your area and how stretched they are. Obviously you will be seen before 12 weeks, but to a newly pregnant lady, that seems like forever. Personally, I am always proactive. I don't wait for someone to contact me. When I had my DS, now 7, I had moved, and the baby was born by cs and no one came to see me post partum. For days. I waited, and waited. After three weeks on my own with my first new baby I called and they had forgotten me! This caused a needless amount of stress to a new mother. Ask your surgery for the midwives number, or check their website, and call them. Ask them what to expect, and when. Any good midwife service will immediately tell you what their system is and how it works. Unless you call, they will assume you know. Then, at least, you will reassured by the step-by-step system. Personally, the not-knowing feeling drives me crazy, so I bother people until I do know. Gives the illusion of control.

devotion · 18/06/2009 22:55

clairemcq - i guess all areas are different but I am 7 weeks and probably registered about the same time as you so you should have received your letter from the hospital giving you your 11-13 week scan date (if you have early scan, not all areas do) and a date for your booking appointment were you have blood tests and talk to a midwife. That app is usually about 10 weeks.

Maybe you will receive your letter within the next few days but i remember with my second i had to ring up and remind them so I would call to double check if i were you.

congratulations to you and all the new mummies to be.

hope you are all not feeling too sick, i am already so sick of hearing myself moaning. why do i have to feel this bad? so annoying especially when i didnt really with my first, although my 2nd was bad so i guess it gets worse the more babies you have. i've only been ill for two weeks and it feels like months! i feel bad for moaning especially when you read about people who have mc - i should feel lucky that my little one is still growing but its hard at times.

right lets see if i can not moan until the morning...

sweet dreams all and little beanies x

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 19/06/2009 08:18

Hi all, glad to hear about the healthy scans!

I have 3 problems-

  1. I am going to a standing Take That concert next weekend.
  2. The weekend after is my hen night which is supposed to be a crazy night out, away, lots of drinking. However, my boss is going and a couple of work friends. If they find out I am pregnant, they won't reemploy me in September, and I cannot lose my job or I'll lose my house.
  3. I am going abroad to get married at the end of July. All the family are going. Is there anything I need to consider? Can I sunbathe?

These problems are nothing compared to anything happening to my little bean, but things I think I should ask for advice on?

flyingcloud · 19/06/2009 08:53

I found out I was pregnant just after I'd been to a hen party (I'm seven weeks now) and have been constantly mortified eversince at how much I drank and smoked that night - and that I ate steak tartare for dinner - to make matters even worse!

Obviously don't follow my example. The old antibiotics trick has to be worth trying for the hen party although that might involve an intricate ruse that requires a lot of dishonesty and deception of your colleagues. I know they have no right to discriminate but it's not a perfect world. I have been relocated and promoted recently and I am supposed to be issued with a new contract, which I am still waiting on and I am terrified that employers will find out that I'm pregnant and try and renegotiate the contract, although I am still employed under my old contract. A lot of my friends know colleagues and vice versa - it's a bit of tight-knit community that I live / work in.

So not much help TAUP! I know you need to wear sunscreen on your face when in the sun to prevent the mask of pregnancy, whatever that might be.

devotion · 19/06/2009 10:02

TotallyAndUtterlyPani... - you are in a sticky one.

If I were you I would just cancel it and say its because of money and say its just going to be a small affair.

Then just go out for a meal with a few close friends and stay at a posh hotel with a spa maybe for the night.

I'm rubbish at lying so would find the whole thing stressful if i had to make up illnesses and say i was on antibiotis. my friends would never trust me again.

Plus you r boss will find out after and think it was a bit devious of you and it may cause bad feelings anyway.

i do feel sorry for you and obviously you need your job but if you have invited your boss on your hen night then you have a closer relationship than most boss/colleagues and she will not appreciate where you are coming from when she finds out it was all lies to stay in the job.

the only way is to get out of it.

Plus your hen night is all about you, you want to enjoy it and relax, you wont this way but will if you make it a smaller affair or wait until next summer and organise a massive girly weekend where you can really let your hair down.

good luck xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

flyingcloud · 19/06/2009 10:24

I agree with devotion's plan. Although while you may (perhaps reasonably based on my suggestion) think I'm a devious witch, I know plenty of people who use the antibiotics ruse, not to be deliberately deceitful but just to keep their pregnancies secret until the end of the first trimester. I would hope most people would understand this as it is perfectly reasonable to keep it a secret.

It is hard to lie and sometimes the creation of a lie does create more hassle than its worth, even if its a white lie. BTW I'm not a habitual liar or a good liar and I've found that out since being pregnant as we don't want anyone to know, although a few people have figured it out.

twoplusone · 19/06/2009 10:33

bettysmum- so sorry xxx

Mum of 2boys..-not sure how to read your message hun xx but if it is what i think then I am sorry hun xx
if not then oops..

Welcome to everyone new and congratulations.. we are now becoming a biggish group.

Glad scans are all going well,. wish I could have one now, but hopefully next month will be here soon enough.. expect it will be the week of the 20th July.. just hoping it is before the children break up from school, as hubby is away for July and it will mean taking the 3 from them to the transvaginal scan..
Noticed this morning my waist is thickening , and my trousers getting tighter!! not happy just got into them again...lol. looks like i will be in maternity clothes or elasticated waists for our hols in August!!

It is DS1 bday today he is 5 bless him, and he asked me why do his socks still fit now he is 5.. and told me Now i am 5 I can wrestle, ride a 2 wheeler and run even faster... just hope he doesnt get to dissapointed bless him.

Of to tackle the house before everyone comes this afternoon for his bday tea party all I want to do is go to sleep........

Have a good day all xx

Doctorskidaddle · 19/06/2009 10:54

totally - I also think devotion's plan is really good. The last thing you want on your hen night is to be stressed and trying to think up convincing lies! Have you told any friends yet? Maybe you could just invite those who you would be comfortable telling and have a lovely alcohol-free pampering session.

Re your job, it would be illegal not to renew your contract on the grounds of pregnancy and you could take them to court if it came to that. However, if you go with devotion's plan re hen party then hopefully this won;t come up anyway.

Yes you can def sunbathe but wear sunscreen. Hopefully your dress will still fit! It is awful timing but hopefully you can find a way to have a lovely hen and wedding anyway (I got married when I was 6 months pg with DS and had a great time!).

twoplusone - waist thickening already? Oh gosh I know I started showing massively sooner with DS than with DD so I suppose I will also be showing soon . Like you I had just got back into my pre-preg jeans. Oh well it's a small price to pay...

Does anyone have any hunches as to the sex of their baby? I am absolutely sure this one is a girl, I don't know why exactly but I just feel like I know. I knew with DD and DS and was right so we'll see if I'm right again...

twoplusone · 19/06/2009 11:39

Doctorskidaddle- with number three my waist was thickening by 9-10 week at 11weeks i was in maternity jeans...
I have an inckling that this is a girl as I am very short tempered as i was with DD with DS1and2 I was fairly chilled.. no where near as short tempered as i am at the moment everything is such a drama to me a the moment, also off sex which was a big no no to me when pg with dd.. poor dh as it didnt get any better until I had her.. But i always feel guilty about having a feeling re the baby being a certain sex incase it isnt.. I know that sounds daft doesnt it.. At the end of the day i would like anbother girl so i wilkl have 2 of each , but aslong as it is healthy that is all the matters..xxx

Glynnispig · 19/06/2009 13:41

Hello all, I hope its ok for me to join you. I think I am 6 weeks on Sunday. I am a bit confused because the first day of my last af was 3rd May which would make it 7 weeks on Sunday but because my cycle is a bit longer (31-34 days) I think this would make me almost 6 weeks?!?! Very confusing! So possibly due 14th Feb. I have a midwife appointment next sat. I still cant really beleive its true!

motherof2boys · 19/06/2009 13:59

sorry if my message wasn't clear - i think i am still pregnant - although after what has happened i cannot take for granted. Haven't been sick for 3 days though.

CaractacusPotty · 19/06/2009 14:09

Oh boy - in maternity jeans at 11 weeks? I only just (like this week!!!) got back to my old pre-pg weight. Still, at least I can look forward to the weight falling off in the next few weeks of MS I'm supposed to be doing a long distance hill walk in a coupple of weeks time. Oh dear.

I'm not going to try guessing the sex. We didn't want to know with ds1. Then we found out with ds2 but were told by two sonographers that it was a girl, until the obstetrician charmingly told us at a 40w scan that that was "bollocks" - and indeed they were a pair of unmistakable bollocks. So statistically we are far more likely to have another boy, but there's no way I would trust a scan if it said girl, so we'll just assume it's a boy 9and die of shock if it comes out pink!)

TAUP - I think devotion's plan is a good one too. Hope it works out ok.

motherof2boys · 19/06/2009 14:54

feeling full of coldy flu (not manflu) and am certain it will mean end of little bean. Yet with DS2 I had terrible fluey thing for weeks, fell down stairs, put knee through wall etc and didn't occur 2 me that he wouldn't be fine (and he was - practically getting himself a beer 2 minutes after unscheduled, unattended 20 min home birth).

I guess more worried since losing DC3 in march when didn't have any flu or colds or anything. I have given up my work in preschool as can't face any unnecessary snot/poo etc. Have not been obsessing about stuff with this one - what will be will be but suddenly v sad to think that stupid cold may be the end. Writing this seems v irrational - bear with me.

you all seem to be seeing drs and midwives - my friends all seem surprised I'm not demanding early scans etc following DC3. But not seeing gp till Tuesday - and then yes you are right it will be a complete stressathon to chace for scan appt's etc.

hope party goes well 2+1.

expect to get enormous - with dc3 I had to get special bras at 6 weeks!!! But with this one not - so can't believe ok.

thesoo · 19/06/2009 14:58

Hello, Can I join please?

Had a BFP on Monday and again on Tuesday. AF was due today but no sign. I think that puts me at 4 weeks exactly, with a due date of 26 Feb!!!! Have a DD at 16 months.

Extremely nervous, due partly to age (38) and partly due to having no symptoms yet, am constantly knicker checking. I don't think I can take the strain of having to wait for 12 week scan, guess I am not alone there tho' eh?

Good luck to all xx

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 19/06/2009 16:50

thesoo we are due same day!!!!!!! Fantastic, was hoping there'd be someone same day. I had mc april and I'm terrified this time, I'm not even sick today.

Unfortunately all 16 of us have paid 50 pound each for the hen do so can't go back on it

clairemcq · 19/06/2009 17:04

thanks for the replies re midwife appts etc - i think i will give the hosp a ring and make a nuisance of myself. didnt want to seem like a nervy first timer, but thats what i am so what the hell!!

xx

UnderWrapsForNow · 19/06/2009 18:50

Name changer here until things progress a bit more. Got BFP this morning, wasn't really expecting it as have been disappointed every month for the last two and a half years.

Had a miscarriage at 6 weeks ish, last January, so not getting too excited about this one quite yet.

I already have a ds who is three.

Due date is roughly 28th Feb.
