Hi

So for your betty's meet tomorrow! So exciting! Who is taking pictures?

Kayz- well done for losing a stone, thats loads in 6wks

LBOT- I'd be annoyed at 3am dh arrival!!! Enjoy NYC!

Thanks again for all your replies last night. Really helped me, I was feeling so low. Did try and talk to dh (thx for asking Diege) but it went as i expected ie not well at all. Thankgoodness for you lot and thanks for the galaxy bite Ses

I was suprised to hear how common not sleeping in the day is! Overall im v happy bfeeding but hard when i see how easy it is with bottles (sterilsing aside)

Fortunately, i'm having much better day today. Just back from lunch. Was really good, as DD slept for full time, 12.30 til 2.15!! So my "anti-baby" friend didnt have too deal with her . Also last night she slept 7pm to 3am!! i woke up in soggy mess! Think she might have slept longer if i wasnt drowning

Really think daytime sleep issues result from overtiredness. Seems if DD sleeps once, she is more likley to sleep more IYSWIM.

Kayz- hope GF sorts out DS2 sleeping.

Tink, not read about crash will look it up, thsts close to me (ish)

Going food shopping with DH now my least favourite activity.

See you tomorrow (woo hoo, so excited!).

Kay - thanks for that link. I've posted on it

Looking forward to seeing the meet up photos!

Had a lovely day with friends. Their 3.6yr old DD was v cute with DS. We went into town with them and registered his birth, went for coffee & cake and then to the park.

kookykid · 22/05/2009 20:05

Hi everyone,

Lots of photos please! Am so so gutted I can't be there as would've loved to meet you all. Can't wait to hear all about it!

Kayz - thank you for the offer of a mini-meet! Might take you up on it next time, as I'm going to be so busy getting my reports written this time. (Bloody HATE writing reports.)

SES - I don't think I've even posted yet to say Congratulations. So CONGRATULATIONS!!! Sorry the birth wasn't quite as you'd planned, but it sounded like absolutely the best thing under the circumstances. Will also add; there's always next time.....!

Just noticed that MINM has had her LO too - so CONGRATULATIONS!!! to you too!

Slightly freaked by the fact I now appear to be third on the list for "who's next"! eek.

Hope you are all well.

There's an echo in the wagon this morning...
Where are you all?!
Oh, yes - York!!
Hope you all have a great time

Kooky - good to hear from you and thanks for the congrats. Did you have a good time with your mum being over?

Sun is shining here so hope it stays for my friend's wedding this afternoon.

DS had a good night as he's learning to latch on himself so I managed to stay in bed whilst he fed for a bit longer.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 23/05/2009 09:55

X-posted Moos, sorry!
Wow - 12 weeks!! How's the sickness?

Moosy · 23/05/2009 09:59

Easing ever so slightly I think, I'm still feeling nauseus and needing lots of sleep but the underlying 'dead' feeling is starting to go and I'm getting a bit of an appetite back.

DD2 is going nappyless today - one wee on the sofa so far but we're trying again!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 23/05/2009 10:07

Ooh good luck with being nappy free!

Starshinetiger · 23/05/2009 11:15

Morning Kooky, Moos and Ses!
in York direction at all those currently meeting in Betty's! (I'm not at all )
Moos - so glad sickness is starting to ease, can't believe you're 12 weeks already!

Have to admit, was all set yesterday evening to post a "help me" post, as was at my wit's end - had had yet another very short and disturbed night with DD, then DS was climbing over my legs yesterday and managed to land on his head and graze his back (gave him arnica straight away and applied calendula to back), ended up pushing him in puschair, DD in sling up hill to corner shop just to get out of house - both fell asleep and were dead weights! Then she fell asleep on me while he was in the bath (would never have fed my PFB sitting on the loo seat, but there you go!), had to put her down not properly winded to get him out of bath, so she woke up while we were reading stories, which was fine, but after 5 nights of settling by 8.15pm, would not settle. Ended up twice just putting her in her cot and letting her cry for 2 minutes, as I was crying too and needed a break. Then she finally settled at 9.15pm - when DH got home I was in much need of cuddles, which he of course gave. Has said all along he's happy with me bf, but for me just to say the word and he'll happily get up and make bottles - he says it so nicely it is supportive.
Anyway, went to bed by 10.30pm...

DD did not wake until 1.40am - she had nearly 4.5 hours sleep - longest she's ever been. Was delighted, was up again at 3.30am and 5.30am, but after that good first chunk, didn't feel so bad. Then at 6am, she had dozed off, but woke up again, so after cuddles, I thought - "You're still tired", have a lie in your cot and crawled back into my bed next to her. She snuffled a bit and next think I knew it was 7.25am and I could hear DH and DS running around downstairs! She stayed asleep until 9.05am - could not believe it! DH has now taken DS to the playbarn, so I've stripped all sheets with DD watching me, she had a lie on playgym too and then I thought - I may as well get a shower (DD sat in bouncer next to shower). She started to grumble while I was in there, so rinsed off, got dried and dressed very quickly, all the while talking to her - could see her eyes were shut and she wanted to go to sleep. Just before I was ready to pick her up, she fell asleep (on her own - no booby, no dummy!)!!!!! !!!

Sorry for me, me, me post, but it's been a really long 10 weeks and I so haven't wanted to give in the bfing, but the stories of all these ff babies sleeping for longer than 3 hours has been so tempting, so this is big news in our household! I also wanted to get it written down, so when we get more rotten nights, I can remind myself that the good nights do happen!

Also, I really can't do controlled crying and feel guilty even that she just grumbled herself to sleep just now (feel like I should cuddle her and not let her cry/whimper at all - I know I'm a wimp!), but it was obviously what she needed.

Anyway, enough of the me post - move along please, nothing to see here!

Hope you are all enjoying glorious sunshine!

GYo · 23/05/2009 19:02

Hello

Anyone back from the wagon meet up? Cant wait to here about bit. Was thinking of you all this morning!

Tink- hair sounds great, hope you post some pics of you in the party dress ]

Star- sent you a message on FB. Hope byou've had a good day today.

Ses- hows things with you? has the mw signed you off yet? How is DSs weight coming on?

Had a good day here today. Had a friend of DHs for lunch and it was boiling in the garden sitting outside. Having all the NCT crowd over tomorrow for a bbq so lots of prep required tonight, but not after I've found a glass of wine

x-posts Sorky!

We've not decided dates yet but would be good to get something sorted to include as many as poss!

So, did you all recognise each other?

OP posts:
Diege · 23/05/2009 19:34

Hello! Back here too, and had a great time - feel really relaxed, though I have to say SORKY that the house was a bombsite when I came back ; how do you train dh so well? Do you have a hypno- CD for that too?
Was really lovely meeting everyone - after a few minutes it felt like I was meeting with old friends (which I was really!)although there is something quite disarming about realising that people you've never met know all about your piles .
The food in Betty's was scrummy, and think we should all be proud of ourselves for managing it with so many LOs (ok, so I was child-free that day but would happily have taken Dylan home !).
TINK, we need perm pictures!!!
GYO, NCT BBQ sounds fab - you are amazing hosting something like that!
Looking forward to BGT tonight!
Oh while I remember SORKY have been looking at coorie website and wondered what size to buy as in between xs and s based on measurements. As we are both a massive 5' 3" I wondered what size you got for Xanthe? Think I may buy the e-bay one too GLASK - can't go wrong with 2 slings I say!
Kids in bed, but screaming..better investigate
Thanks again for a lovely day everyone!

sorky · 23/05/2009 19:51

I'm pleased to say we did recognise each other GYo
Kayz & LB were much taller than I expected, Diege was shorter lol.

will check sizes for you Diege and post back.

Yes Tink we need pics, such a change of appearance needs pics def.
Food was lovely, I enjoyed sharing mine with Freddie he's fab & I could've taken him home!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 23/05/2009 20:07

Just back from wedding. DS did really well and we managed to stay longer than I thought. Also managed to bf in public for the first time!!

Glad meet up went well

GYo - MW discharged us yesterday! DS had put on nearly 100g since Monday. Next HV visit is Thurs. Fortunately the first time she came she seemed really nice.

Does anyone have any ideas to help with my back pain? It's particularly bad when feeding, changing and standing up holding DS which isn't great really. I keep taking the hot water bottle out of his Moses basket and putting it against my back! I'm sitting as far back in the chair as I can with 3 cushions trying to support me and 2 under DS! It's not getting any easier.

Nearly time for BGT!!

GYo · 23/05/2009 20:31

Hurray for a good meet up! Glad it went well and the Betty's food was good.

Remember meeting with Ses and Gruff and finding it odd that we all have real names as well as our MN names!

Ses- well done on BFing in public, also great to attend the wedding too, quite daunting with a new baby!

Sympathise about the back ache. I had awful back and neck pain with DD for first 4wks. I soon corrected it by finding a more relaxed postion to feed in. Originally I was hunched over her, staying really upright but I realised that I could recline and prop my elbows with cushions and it was much more comfy. Even space on my lap for my laptop for MNing. I now feed mainly on the sofa with my feed up and tele on. Hope you can get some relief.

I have coorie (if you are talking about the pouch sling) but havent been able to get use out of it as DD just screams as soon as I get her in it. Hope you have more success Diege. BTW, I got a size 2 and thought it was too small and sent it back for size 3 which would be too big if I wanted to BF whilst wearing it.

Realised how much is involved in having the NCT lot over fortunately DH's talent is cooking and so he is dealing with food (I just wash up) but the clearing up after will be mega. There will be 12 adults and 6 babies (one family cant attend or there would be 14 adults, 7 babies!). Weather due to be good, hope it is or we will be cramped inside!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 23/05/2009 22:06

Hi guys, so, so sorry to have missed out today. I swear I don't know how I ever had time for a job, this week has been a bit manic to say the least...

I had my 20 week scan on Thursday followed by a meeting with my consultant. I got to ask loads of questions about DS' birth that have been troubling me, with regard to what could possibly happen for DC2. She was really nice and I'm hoping that we can work it so that its better for me this time round.

We decided not to find out the sex again, I can't really explain why, but I guess I like holding people in suspense!!

I found out on Monday that my car, which I thought I'd be keeping, work have offered to take back with no financial penalties for me. Its a very expensive car, whilst working it wasn't a problem because work paid about 98% of the bill but it was going to be painful whilst not working... so I accepted the offer but it meant that I needed to get a replacement pretty bloody smartish. I decided I wanted a smaller car, but that would mean that we don't have one big enough to use for travelling around the country and DH has been after a new one for ages - so I've spent all week traipsing around car supermarkets, asking question after question, reading review after review and getting soaked in the process - typical bloody weather!

Its all been a bit extra urgent to finalise because we're going on holiday next week and need a car big enough to fit us in to (we are not light travellers ).

However, I put down a deposit on a car last night and after a very, very long day today with the most inefficient sales person I've ever met, we put down a deposit on a car for DH too. Then went to the bank and arranged the loan, so now there's just the insurance to sort out.

Oh, and making sure I'm actually going to get my money from work on Friday to pay for the car with!!!

Weird that we're both getting new cars, and its going to cost us less than the car I was going to have, but a massive, massive relief.

I had bugger all sleep the last few days, and I'm hoping after getting so much more than we thought done today, that tonight will be more restful.

I know it probably seems like a crap excuse, but it would have been a disaster if the money hadn't been organised today - and we needed to find a car before we knew how much we needed to borrow!

Am so glad the weather was good for you today - can't wait to see some pics (if there are any?!).

Oh, and I got my laptop back on Friday (I'm sure no-one has guessed this from my mega long, me, me, me post! )

Oh, and on the subject of babes, I laid down on the sofa to rest this evening, undid my jeans (am back into pre-preg jeans , pregnancy seems to make me lose weight!) and baby was wiggling away, shifting from side to side and kicking away - really is very regular and very lovely.

Will try and get on a bit more regularly - although I do have another busy few days ahead, with final arrangements with work (desk clearing on Weds), insurance deals for me and DH to sort out, and getting ready for our holiday.

Speak soon, x

Kayzr · 24/05/2009 07:36

Morning!!

I had a lovely time yesterday. I am feeling like a bit of a terrible mother as DS1 just ignored me but did everything anyone else told him to do. He adored LB's DD, plus he kept asking about Glask and IDOB on the way home. He told DH all about them and his Peter Rabbit balloon.

Diege ruined my non daytime sleeping baby and had Dylan sleeping really well in Betty's. We should definetly do it again!!

Only downside was that I got an awful headache on the way home and I still have it now. So will probably spend the day lazing around.

Hope everyone is ok!!
