glad its not just the small giraffe that screams like that! Am sure its that she is picking up on the tension.

Also worked out that people tend to over handle her and that makes her a bit grumpy, she much prefers to lie on a rug and look around.

Hard to stop aunty/nana cuddles!

my 31st bday got £60 4 my bday off into town

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 05/06/2009 09:09

Morning all!

BNJP - I'm really feeling for you. Wish you could have had my hospital appointment yesterday. Such a stupid system
Wish I could do/say something a bit more useful.

Kay - can't believe your MIL would just get your DS hair cut!!

GYo - v impressed with your DH doing 3 peaks! Good luck for your wkend going solo but hope your mum is helpful today.

Gruff - will send you a message on FB re mini meet up

Star - hope there wasn't too much bed swapping for you last night...

Sorky - did you watch BB opening night in the end? I Sky+ed it and have it on now.

Anyway, hoping for a calmer day here today. Especially after it started with DS being sick in my bed at 6.45am. I then got up to change and bath him and he wee'd 3 times on the change mat! He honestly wasn't on there that long but ut was everywhere - with the last one going straight in his face! He's nice and clean now though!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 05/06/2009 09:10

Happy birthday Jules
Have a good time shopping!

Moosy · 05/06/2009 09:11

Morning

More sunshine today, hooray!

LB, sorry you're having such a hard time and DP is being an arse, is there anyone who can come and give you some moral support? It definitely sounds worth giving the dairy thing a go, I hope it's not too hard for you to stick to (don't forget, dark chocolate is dairy free!). I hope Owen has a better day today.

MS seems to have gone now, am still tired a lot but definitely improving
Also had my letter from the hosp yesterday with the results from teh nuchal scan - I have a 1:9012 risk factor!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 05/06/2009 09:14

Morning Moos - great results from nuchal

Star - according to FB it's your birthday too!! Happy Birthday!!!

Diege · 05/06/2009 09:31

Happy birthday to TINKS and STAR Hoping you get a few hours of sun and lots of spoiling.
LB, what can I say, you must feel at your wit's end . I truly admire you with how you are coping (yes, you ARE coping)probably far better than most of us would. I think you shpuld def sit down and let dp know exactly what you're feeling - surely he'd do something to help if you knew the extent of the situation? Maybe also get the hv over for a chat?
KAYZ, please tell me those lovely curls haven;t gone!!!???? . Agree with SORKY, I'd say that's pretty low, and would be extremely cross
Have the 3 at home today, and had a rubbish night due to killer heartburn. Bad tummy also back this morning, so hoping they won't be too demanding! Going to get out to library and park before lunch, as I find that afternoon trips tend to be more stressful for some reason.
Morning SES, GYO, and everyone else!

sorky · 05/06/2009 09:40

Happy Birthdays!!!

Moosy, those numbers look great

Settled days needed for everyone it seems.

I did see BB, Ses. Quite an interesting bunch this years it seems. I loved Freddie!

idreamofbeanie · 05/06/2009 09:55

Morning,

BNJP - sorry you are having such a rough time. I wish I lived closer, I'd come over and help out for a day (and then probably give your DP a big slap!). Feel free to post DD up for the weekend if you need a break .

Kayz - I can't believe MIL cut his lovely curls off . Actually it's the kind of thing I can imagine my MIL doing - I 'm predicting several arguments once the baby arrives.

Jules - happy birthday and enjoy shopping. You miust be influencing me through MN - I bought 2 new tops from Jojo Maman Bebe this week plus a shirt and cardi from Vertbaudet. I think I have more maternity wear than I do normal clothes .

Happy birthday star.

Moosy - hooray for nuchal results and double hooray for ms leaving !

Ses - sorry for sicky wee'd on baby. Hope you have a lovely calm day today.

Gyo - good luck for solo weekend and hope mini-gyo doesn't scream at your mum. I'm kind of hoping the baby screams whenever MIL picks her up . I know that's mean but she is already driving me bonkers with the name suggestions, lists of advice, telling me what I shouldn't do when beanie arrives etc. The woman is a menace.

Morning Sorky, gruff, LBOT Kooky and everyone else I've missed.

It's such a lovely sunny day again I'm already clock watching and counting down the hours until I can go home. Going to a wedding tomorrow so just hoping it lasts although the forecast is for rain. Feel in a weekend holiday mood already and beanie must be feeling the same as she has been wriggling and kicking away like mad all morning .

idreamofbeanie · 05/06/2009 09:57

Oh morning Diege, sorry I forgot you. Hope you have a lovely relaxing day and DDs manage to amuse themselves as much as poss. Enjoy the park and library.

sorky · 05/06/2009 10:15

It's pittling down up here.

IDOB she sounds excited (MIL) about the baby Is your Dd going to be her first grandchild?

I've arranged to go out for tea with the girls again on Wednesday. I need a new outfit

Off to a HE science session this afternoon. Dh takes the elder two in, whilst I nip across the way with Ds2 for splash n play

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 05/06/2009 10:23

Sorky - tea with the girls sounds good! As does splash n play!!
Not sure about BB but I'm sure I'll tune in regularly

IDOB - You're expectation of your MIL sounds a bit like my expectation of my mum when I was pg. I have to say though she has been really helpful and there's only been the odd unpleasant comment rather than the stream I expected. My best friend has had huge issues with her Mum since her DD was born 3.5yrs ago and I had told my mum how frustrating and hurtful some of those instances were so I think that may have helped my mum to think about what is truly helpful.

Morning Diege! Hope tummy and heartburn ease up.

Starshinetiger · 05/06/2009 10:54

BNJP - sorry for bad night again. And especially sorry that DP is no help. If I was closer, I'd gladly come over. Re. Milk - as Sorky says, Soya is fine (although it is quite high on the allergenic foods list too), but if you want to avoid it, you can try oat milk or rice milk. We use oatmilk at home - use it for cereal, in cooking, but haven't tried it in hot drinks as I take mine black, but it does make yummy hot choc when mixed with cocoa powder (dark choc stuff - has no dairy). I try not to have too much of the dark choc, due to caffeine levels, but is a nice treat (hmm, might make one now while DD is asleep)! They also do choc oatmilk (no dairy in it) and oat cream substitute, which is fine too - so long since I had dairy, I don't notice any difference. Try your "free from" aisle in your loca supermarket for some dairy free treats to get you through the day!

Really hope something gives soon - if it is dairy intolerance, you might notice some change within 3 days, but do be prepared to wait 7-10 days for real results. Can you go to bed when DS does tonight (reminds self that I rarely do that with DD!)? Do you have a friend who could come over and help out? I really do feel for you. If there is anything else I can help with, please just shout!

Starshinetiger · 05/06/2009 10:57

Thanks for bday wishes!
Kayz - and at your MIL - that's awful, really crosses the line. You and DH together should confront her about that.
Diege - sorry for heartburn and poorly tummy. Hope it passes soon (did I mention today is a lovely day for a Birth Day?!)
Hi Sorky, GYo, Moos, Ses, IDOB and anyone else lurking today.
Boo - was hoping for a shower and sit down while DD slept, but no - she stirs!
Have a lovely day all.

idreamofbeanie · 05/06/2009 11:16

Hey Sorky and Ses - I do understand that MIL is excited (beanie will be their first grandchild) and I keep telling myself not over-anticipate problems/arguments or I am just going to be ridiculously touchy. The problem is MIL is very critical and negative towards DP and his sister, the youngest is definitely her favourite. She has always told DP that he is stupid and that his DB is much smarter and she says that she doesn't even like her DD as she is just fat and useless. DP has learnt to ignore it most of the time and says it doesn't really bother him anymore but it really affected him growing up and it drives me crazy! I hate the thought of her saying anything similar to our DCs - I think I might commit murder if she tells beanie she is stupid/fat/ugly. She called yesterday and was hinting that DP would be a rubbish dad and just not able to cope with nappies, crying etc. I try to ignore it but I feel I have to defend DP which just makes her worse.

Sorry for the rant ! She can actually be lovely some of the time and she is genuinely excited about being a GP but sometimes she just makes me so

lastboxoftampons · 05/06/2009 11:19

Oh BNJP poor you. Hoping you get some relief soon. As others have said is there anyone you could call on? or even pay a baby sitter for a few hours of peace?? I hope you can find some support.

Kay Did you give your MIL the green light to get his hair cut or did she take it upon herself? When I was visiting my family, my mom and I picked up my nephew from nursery school one afternoon and she mentioned getting his hair cut - I said You can't just cut someone else's child's hair!!! But then when we dropped him off, SIL said Oh, I thought you might've got his hair cut, he really needs it. Apparently they have an arrangement...! But I agree, if she did it on her own I woudl be

Moos - Yay for wonderful results! you must be so pleased!

Ses - you're making me rethink my choice of duvet cover in the spare/baby's room! Those little boys can get it everywhere, can't they? Glad the paedetrician was okay.

Happy Birthday Jules and Star! There's a really cute video of Britney's boys dancing to the song Toxichere

Hi Sorky, Gruff, IDOB, Kooky, Diege, etal

Not much to report here, definitely looking forward to the weekend! Tried out Skype with my family for the first time last night and was lots of fun - DH got to see my brother's kids as he hasn't been there since Christmas when baby was new and 2 year old was only 18 months - they're so different now already!!

sorky · 05/06/2009 11:59

No she doesn't sound particularly supportive does she IDOB
Still Gchildren have a habit of softening even the hardest, most cynical of hearts

idreamofbeanie · 05/06/2009 13:12

Here's hoping Sorky and for now I'll try to just appreciate the fact she is excited and wants to be involved and ignore the other rubbish.

Diege · 05/06/2009 13:36

IDOB, MIL sounds a bit of a nightmare tbh, although I have to say MIL tolerance is not my strong point!
Did you say new outfit SORKY??? How exciting . One place I've found recenently that I'm always pleased with is ASOS - maybe worth a tiny peek??
Back from morning out, and have just made pizzas with dds. Hoping to have an afternoon of rest/putting away washing, while they watch dvds. Had a good 2 hours at park and library, so don't feel too guilty!

julesisoneyearolder · 05/06/2009 14:05

bumpsnowjustplump · 05/06/2009 16:07

Afternoon all, I am feeling a lot calmer now.. I start dairy free tomorrow, I got some goats cheese and calcium tablets as feel I can scrap milk altogether. Will miss cappucchino's but hay ho!!

I am going to bed with owen tonight!!!!!!!! although i say that every night

Happy birthday star & tink!!

Moosy · 05/06/2009 17:08

Glad things are a bit better now LB, and good that you have a plan, I hope it makes a difference. Good luck for tonight, I hope you get some sleep.

Am feeling crappy today, we're house sitting for my parents (only a mile away from our house and on the same farm as the barn) and I'm feeling all sad and homesick. I want to go hoooooooooooooooooooooooooome! I'm so pathetic!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 05/06/2009 17:11

Glad you're feeling a bit better BNJP. It must be so tough and you are doing really well.

Having a better day here I think it helps having nothing else on for a change (no dr, HV or hospital!) so we've had some definite sleep time and definite feed time. He slept for 2hrs on my mum this morning and managed 35 mins in his moses basket this afternoon! Little steps and all that, but it's all progress!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 05/06/2009 17:16

x-posts Moos! I hate that feeling when you have to be somewhere that's not home and you just want to be in your own environment with your own things. Am sure those feelings are magnified when pg too...

Moosy · 05/06/2009 19:46

Glad your day's been a bit more settled Ses, p'raps if he's not being prodded and weighed every day he'll find a nice routine for you

Feel a bit better now the DDs are in bed, but nearly cried at tea time when DH said he wasn't going to be here for their bedtime. I'm sure it's because of being pg, I'm not normally this useless, honest!
