Hi,

Back from jabs. DD was very brave bless her. They give two injections one into each leg and I just had to hold her close to me as the nurse did it. She cried a little after the first one, then a little more after the second but then settled down well after that for the journey home in the car.

I have given her 2.5ml dose of calpol and nurse said to give another at bedtime. Am keeping her in a short vest to keep her cool. She seems ok so far - not grizzling yet.

Poor things have to have three needles in four week's time for the next lot though!

Ses - sorry for disagreements with DH. Know what you mean about things you just get your head in a tis about - I had to ring my Mum to get her to tell me it was okay to give DD a bottle when I was at the end of my tether at 10 weeks - just needed someone to "give me permission" - as it was, DD wasn't having a bar of it, so she's still fully bf, 1 week on!

GYo - thanks, things getting there with DD, but still keen to introduce a bottle of EBM at some point to give me a break. She has started doing 4 hour stretches at night, so it's getting there.

Nat - if you're lurking, hope all is okay. Thinking of you.

Moos - sorry for sickness and for insensitive DH.

Need to go and take DD from DH, think she will need a feed, then off to Tesco and maybe she'll have a decent nap, as she hasn't so far today! Am feeling all out of sorts, as DH was supposed to work short day 8-1 today, but his colleague has called in sick, so he's worked 8-10am and back in 6-10.30pm - when his routine changes, it mucks ours up (so selfish of me and I know it's wrong, but it is really irking, as that is one less bedtime I have help with this week - ah well, they seem to go more smoothly when I do them on my own anyway - )

We've decided to extend our current house rather than move, if we can. We have spoken to the builder and the planning dept today who have suggested we send in details for informal agreement, so we'll do that this week. It's not straightforward because we want to add another storey to our house [eek]

HV just been...
DS birth weight was 3820g, went down to 3420g on day 5, last Thurs was 3520g and today 3480g.
She says he seems to latch and feed fine from what she's seen and he seems healthy in every way except for lack of weight gain. She's made us an appointment to go and see a dr at surgery at 4.20 so they can rule out infection of some sort.

I'm worried for DS and worried I may have to top up BF.

Oh Ses, do try not to worry, I'm not good at metric, but I think that's just over an oz he's lost which really isn't the end of the world! Had he just been fed/not been fed for a while last time he was weighed and this time (does that even make sense?)?

Sorky, good luck with the planners! We've learnt from our experiences that it's best to ask for absolutely everything that you want and more, then you have haggling room when they say you can't have it all!

I think LBOT might have been to NYC this weekend, maybe she's not back yet?

Ses, sounds like ds is doing same as the small giraffe weight wise. Hang in there you are doing brilliantly- dd didn't regain birth weight til she was about 7weeks. The added work or stress of house guests might have affected your supply.

Just back from Dr. HV had briefed her perfectly and supportive of my wish to BF. She checked him over and said she was happy with him in every way except for weight so she phoned paediatric registrar at the hospital to check things through and we all agreed to continue as things are til Thurs. Will get him re-weighed late Wed or Thurs morning and then have appointment to see Dr again on Thurs at 11.30

I'm going to ensure I take it easy over the next few days, drink lots of water and eat lots. (Stuff getting into pre-pg clothes!)

GYo - hope you're pleased with your hair! LOL at no need to get boobs out!

Cosmo- hope DD has settled. It does get frustrating when you think something's cracked and then "they enter a new phase" as one of my friends puts it.

Evening! Just a quick pop in to say that still feel rough and quite nauseous, but that tummy has settled. Having bath, then v.early night. Have been reading posts but haven't had energy to post (pathetic I know); feel like I've done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson!

Diege - not pathetic at all! Sounds awful, but glad your tummy has settled. Please don't bother posting this evening. Just take it easy and look after yourself.

Evening all.. Not such a good day here...

Had hospital appointment today as you know. They weighed ds and he has dropped another half centile. These are the proper breastfed centiles here as well!! That means in the last 4 weeks he has dropped from the 75th to the 25th centile... So not good..

They are stopping the gaviscon now as it is not working for him and have gone to stage two in the treatment... I cant remember the names of the drugs as the prescription is at the chemist (who dont stock it so had to order it in for tomorrow) but one is a stong ant acid to try to combat his heatburn and intigestion ant the other lowers the stomach so that the sick has further to travel so (fingers crossed) he is sick less... The paed wants to see us if no improvement in 4 weeks or if I am happy then 6 weeks... If this doesn't work ds will be admitted and a tube put down his throat to measure the acid... I really hope this isn't necessary

Added to this we are having problems with the neighbours (other side to me fire man) about boundaries so that is both neighbours we are potentially falling out with now!!!

And all this is compounded by dd who is playing up big time. She wont do a thing i say and today nearly got run over out side the hospital!!!

So we are really at a low at the moment, i think us being so tired isn't helping either...

I'm sorry the hospital didn't have better news for you. I do wonder in these kind of cases if they actually know what is wrong or if they just try anything in the hope it works.
I do hope it sorts itself out rather than them start to interfere with him

Also, I know you said you didn't want to FF even one feed, but in your situation, I might try one bottle at the 10-11pm feed, to see how he goes.
It won't affect your supply if you express at this age and he may do okay on it. Is it worth a shot do you think?

Thanks sorky. He doesn't usually wake at 11 so dont want to wake him really, because last time I woke him at 11 he was unsettled for the rest of the night. At the moment he sleeps from 7 to 1 (~ish) then is up ever hour from there. If things dont improve then I may give him one bottle at 1 so see if he goes through!! It will be the last resort though.

He gets really hot with the swaddling but I may be putting too many clothes on him !! What do you dress dd2 in when you swaddle her...

you are right we are stressed at the mo which is probably why dd is playing up!!
