FiKelly · 18/05/2009 11:08

runningm* I'm feeling like pants too. having to guzzle hot lemon and honey for sore throat etc.. and bump is stretched so v tight that every time lo moves around a bit I'm wincing. she's still not flipping dropped either so have touch of heartburn to boot. just want baby out NOW!!!!!

FiKelly · 18/05/2009 11:14

minim we decided to postpone my birthday till june.. felt like pants on sat and sorta in limbo waiting for things to happen. I know you're fed up of the on/off labour but even having anything like that is making me green with envy. I too can see the chances of getting my VBAC are fast disappearing

ReeBee · 18/05/2009 11:16

Re fetal heartrate, I didn't mean 170, I meant 160.

Congrats to yawningm as well, sounds like you've had a tricky time but things are good now.

Happy Birthday minim, hope your birthday improves so that you have a fab day and get the present you've been waiting for for so long. I really feel for you, sounds like a bit of a rubbish start to your day so far.

FiKelly · 18/05/2009 11:21

off to check birthday lottery tickets.. been saving them so I could dream about winning a bit longer

sophietom · 18/05/2009 11:22

Wow lots of new babies! Congrats to yawning, detsy, ebsmom, febes and blotted

For some reason I am feeling very calm about my approaching due date... is this a case of ignorance is bliss being a first timer?!

(My mum in contrast is in full panic mode phoning me constantly to check I'm ok - she is coming up later this week to fill my freezer with nutricious casseroles )

Momino · 18/05/2009 11:34

just on quickly to say Happy Birthday to minimenace. Hope you have a good day and try to think selfishly today of all days. maybe you'll feel better (?). Are you doing anything special this evening?

all others overdue/approaching, hope you're well and knowing it's almost over!!

yawning, many congratulations on Clare; beautiful name btw.

off to wake the sleepiest baby i know.

LoobyLou36 · 18/05/2009 11:48

happy birthday minimenace

congrats to blotted and febes

dandy glad that you are both home and on the mend

detsy lol at your birth story - obviously not funny at the time tho

Still trying to persevere with BF, we are 50/50 at the mo formula and BF, but I think M's thrush is clearing up so hopefully she will be able to latch better
still feel crap every time I give her formula but she seems to be thriving on it

LoobyLou36 · 18/05/2009 11:51

I am currently filling out M's passport form - wish me luck trying to take her photos has anyone else had to sort out passport for LO? I've found a site that turns your pics into 4 passport size pics for £3.75, trouble is the original pics have to be suitable.

SpangleMaker · 18/05/2009 12:12

Big congrats to blotted & febes I'm sure your LOs are worth the wait

Dandy glad you're home properly and that H doesn't need treatment.

Detsy Archie/Henry (have you decided yet?) is a gorgeous, scrummy little thing! Love the pic of him with Lotti. Your birth story made me ROFL, well, to be exact, spit chocolate biscuit crumbs all over Harvey's head! Sounds very similar to H's birth only I was in hospital... often wondered how it would've gone if I'd been at home - v glad I was in hosp with hindsight tho it makes for a less dramatic story. You did amazingly well for taking it all in your stride & pushing him out so quickly. Those hypno cds did the trick

Happy birthday to minimenace

MsG · 18/05/2009 12:35

Congrats on all the new babies!! Am struggling to keep up with all the threads again!

Am plodding on...I've got a feeling mine will be late but you never know, do you?! x

frazzledoldbag · 18/05/2009 12:35

looby - Jessops are brilliant for baby passport photos. They have a special machine and can also double check them before you leave to make sure the photos they have taken will be accepted by the passport office (who, by the way, are extrememly difficult to please re: shadows, facial expression etc) I'd go there if you have one nearby (maybe give them a call first to double check they offer the same service where you live). And don't feel bad about the formula milk looby . x

1stMrsF · 18/05/2009 12:55

Hi

Just popped in for catch up. Congrats to those who've had their babies, some lovely lovely names there. Hope everyone is well. We are all fine, but all I seem to do is breastfeed or eat myself (some sleep would be nice, but that's not so forthcoming!)

I am already a stone lighter than my prepregnancy weight, mostly from losing water in horrendous night sweats I think. I think I'm going to write a celebrity diet book - the twin plan.

sausagenmash · 18/05/2009 13:28

Yaaay congrats to yawn, blotted and febes!

Nice to know that people are still hanging around on this thread.... its great hearing all the birth stories (loving Detsy's!) Sophietom - my Mum's coming over this week to fill my freezer up too! (She also wants to go to M&S at Marble Arch - erm, don't think I'll be joining her on THAT front!)

I was up every bloody hour last night weeing thimble sized wees. Ggrrrrrr. And if my MIL2b calls again....... aaaarghhh....

rosielady · 18/05/2009 13:32

clove Febes and Yawning Detsy and blotted - congratulations to you all - well done! I am as had bursts of contrx over the weekend amounting to nothing - may have to try Emmba 's proven technique for kickstarting labour!

My word the babbies are coming thick and fast now!
Sausage dont worry I am still here too!

Mimi and Fikelly IKWYM re feeling chances of VBAC slipping away - me too although I have one week tomorrow til due date I am booked to see consultant on Friday this week to get a date for CS the following week. I feel differently with this pregnancy like things are really happening in terms of my body preparing itself for labour. But we will see - que sera sera and all that - as long as it all turns out okay in the end.

Belgianchocolates · 18/05/2009 13:50

passport pics Thanks for that tip about Jessops frazz I was going to make my own, but this one will have a British passport rather than a Belgian one, because we're married now and I know the British passport service is far more picky. Us Belgians tend to be a bit more laid back about that sort of things .

Frazz I can imagine how frustrating your extended latent phase must be. Hopefully it'll become active soon. Have you ever read 'Spiritual Midwifery'? by Ina May Gaskin? She'd see it as a sign there's something worrying you or that there is some tension between you and DH. Could she have a point, you think?

febes Congratulations.

Oh no, C's making lots of noise. Better go and feed her some more, again, she only came off 30 mins ago. Sigh,...

FiKelly · 18/05/2009 15:20

back from a lovely lunch and good walk there and back.. no twinges though maybe I'll be able to get the hospital to do a s&s tomorrow at my review. interesting belgian about the ina may gaskin.. I have been wondering if our douglas dog hadn't died whether I'd have been in labour by now.. as I really thought things were starting to happen earlier that day

alapala · 18/05/2009 15:23

Well done love Febes and Yawning Detsy and blotted. [detsy] I like your style!
Nothing here. Dr Marcos shoved a hand in there this morning, and there is nothing happening, but he estinated LO from scan at over 8 pounds already.. oh well. Maybe I should get off my arse for a walk or 2 - any idea what rasperry leaf is in Spanish!?!

FiKelly · 18/05/2009 16:07

alapala according to google raspberry leaf is.. hoja de frambuesa my mw at check last wk also said she thought i had a good 8lber.. don't know if i'll get another scan tomorrow but at 36wks it looked like we were on course for 8.5lbs at due..

chocolatebunnies · 18/05/2009 16:21

Hi Ladies,

Congrats to all the new babies, they're flying out left right and center arent they!

Love the story Detsy, hope mine is like that, however I have resigned myself to the fact that I am going to be pregnant for the rest of my life.

Im having twinges, niggles etc etc but still no bloody show or waters breaking, I wish that all these so called contractions I keep having would actually amount to something or piss off and leave me in peace!!!!

Its DH's birthdy on 27th, am really hoping baby is out by then.

Baby has taken to sticking foot out on my left hand side to the extent where you can actually see it, its quite big, doesnt bode well does it although DH does have size 13-14 feet so our kids were always going to have flippers!!!

Have tried sex, curry, pinapple, hula hooping on wii fit, jogging, walking am stuck with what else to try!

Glad sling is good pula

Im itching to squidge an ickle baby and sniff that smell babies have!

chocolatebunnies · 18/05/2009 16:23

Just to point out I wasnt doing all those self-induction techniques at the same time!!!! That would be multi-tasking!!!

CoteDAzur · 18/05/2009 16:40

re heartbeat - Naturally, as baby moves, her/his heartrate increases. My question was the 'resting' heartbeat - i.e. when he isn't moving, also the heart rate at first scans.

DD's heart beat was about 170 bpm even at 7 weeks.

This one (boy) had about 135 bpm at 7 weeks, and even now his heart rate is about 135-140 bpm when not moving about (at which point it does go up to 160-170 bpm).

runningmonkey · 18/05/2009 16:42

Hey Choc just wondering about you and how you were getting on. Lol at you multitasking! I'm having the foot out the side thing too but on my right, am sure I can feel toes sometimes!

glad you had a nice lunch Fi sausage am also sick of phonecalls and texts. I think people think we're not going to tell anyone!

Am still trying to sew together my pram blanket, is proving v slow with my claw like fingers and thumbs.

My Mum is visiting tomorrow, I'm really looking forward to seeing her but I really don't want to go into labour with her here as I really would prefer to be just with DH when it kicks off - what do you reckon sods law will kick in? Maybe I should get the wii fit out tonight and try to get the baby out before she arrives?!

runningmonkey · 18/05/2009 16:45

Ooh cote was wondering about you too how are you doing?(actually it was remembering your claw hands comment - I do manage a giggle when I wake up with them - DH calls me Jim Carey hands!)

Lazzer · 18/05/2009 16:47

I'm overdue 4 days now. And NOT happy!

Sorry, just had to share that as I know there will be other sympathisers out there!

CoteDAzur · 18/05/2009 17:21

Hi runningmonkey - Claw hands still there, unfortunately, but it's ok, as I have less than two days to go until elCS Wednesday morning.

Are you being tested for uric acid? The swelling in my hands is due to high uric acid in the blood ("hyperuricemia"), apparently, and I am being monitored rather closely for it - blood tests every two days, as well as blood pressure & fetal heart rate monitoring every day at hospital. I'm loving it (not).
