Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Jennster · 08/06/2009 11:37

Have listened to the postnatal one once. Found the labour one useful in just breathing deeply (although Yoga helped me with sectional breathing) and just relaxing during a contraction. I didn't come out of the whole process feeling like I'd been steamrollered or having run a marathon because I wasn't tensing my muscles and fighting the contraction like I did with dcs 1 + 2

Jennster · 08/06/2009 11:38

Didn't want to announce it without her permission, and didn't want to pester her. She is still in hospital and will be until Wednesday, making sure feeding is established. Jake born at 12.30 weighing a whopping 9lb 5oz.

frazzledoldbag · 08/06/2009 11:42

I think you're probably right about the not feeling steamrollered thing. Although I was achy all over that was probably more from flinging myself around in the birth pool for the last ten minutes when it was getting to the hideous pressure bit. I did feel fine afterwards tho compared to how I was after DD1 + 2- I think I was just slightly disappointed as I thought I might manage to keep it more pain-free than it was - IYSWIM! Don't think I really pushed tho - possibly only once - I did breathe him out I think (with the help of constant G&A), which was good. I guess there is no way of knowing really how it would have felt without.
Oh am waffling.
Anyway so sophietom huge congrats!
Are you going to tell us what she had then?????? Please???

frazzledoldbag · 08/06/2009 11:44

aaaaaaaaaah, lovely name and good size.
How fabulous. CONGRATULATIONS.
And thank you jennster for letting us know.
[eventually]
Excellent, I can have a shower now.

frazzledoldbag · 08/06/2009 11:45

crossed post - oops.

SpangleMaker · 08/06/2009 11:51

pulapula · 08/06/2009 13:04

Congrats Sophietom. Hope the hospital stay goes OK and look forward to hearing from you once you are at home on Weds.

sausagenmash · 08/06/2009 13:14

Yaaaay Sophietom!!

Momino · 08/06/2009 14:05

Hurrah, Sophietom! congratulations!
I'm so glad I wasn't on here earlier... Jennster, you would have driven me mad .

detsy · 08/06/2009 14:07

Congratulations Sophie big baby boy - how lovely, well done you! x Enjoy the rest in hospital and look forward to hearing all about it!

So is that it - are we all done then?? That makes me feel a bit sad.... I know I'm a crazy old bat

Frazz i feltthe same disappointment as you - think i thought it would be pain free, calm beutific experience and it was bloody fast and furious. At last you visualised a clock I completely forgot about turning down the dial!! Just keep chuntering that its natural, its fine, its one contraction less... And I missed out on my water birth too (hence the need to have another - which DH is freaking about big styleee!!!)

My bonkers DP has just put his mother on a train and got stuck on it with DD who is desperate for lunch and a nap... First stop is Milton Keynes.... bloody men honestly

Blue titch is yelling, best go and have a wee before the boobs come out. He's put on 9oz this week (OMG) now weighs 9lb11oz

xx

Belgianchocolates · 08/06/2009 14:43

Congrats sophietom!! Does this mean we can officially close the a/n thread down so we don't have to try and keep up to date with 2 threads??

LOL, I listened to that labour CD so often, but always fell asleep, so I have no idea what that clock thing is that you guys are on about. The hypnotherapy isn't supposed to make it painfree, just to make the pain managable, but I also had one of those fast and furious labours and there was no way I could stay in control and breathe through it all. Funnily enough that's what I did instinctively with ds and dd1 without the hypnotherapy. C's labour was the most out of control one of them all

I've just been out to swap some of the little outfits C received for presents. At 4 weeks she's already so big that none of them fit and I've swapped them all for size 3-6 months She's actually wearing a size 3-6m outfit as we speak and it fits .

daizydoo · 08/06/2009 14:54

Aren't we still waiting for MsG?

pulapula · 08/06/2009 14:55

belgianchocs- S got sooo many 0-3m clothes- now i can drive, I plan to swap some for 3-6m too. I feel bad taking things back that people bought, but at least this way things will get worn.

detsy · 08/06/2009 14:59

dd has had virgin trains cake for lunch - so tats ok then......and breathe... grrrrrrr

how much does claire weigh now then?!

I too already have oodles of little stuff that doesn't fit any more - also makes me sad, think i havea hormonal thing going on

daizydoo · 08/06/2009 15:09

Ooh sorry - forgot to say congrats to sophietom!!

pulapula · 08/06/2009 15:32

Detsy- I'm sorry but i let out a laugh when i read that the first train stop was Milton Keynes - that's quite a journey (stupid DH grrrr). If anyone doesn't know the full story, its on the pn thread.

At least you will have a nice quiet afternoon

Blottedcopybook · 08/06/2009 15:42

congrats SophieTom!!

Belgianchocolates · 08/06/2009 15:44

Well, C was 11lbs 2oz a week ago, so she must be at least 11 1/2 pounds now, probably more at the rate she has been gaining. She was also quite long (56cm), so together it made some of her stuff too small. She's never fit in newborn stuff, she'd outgrown that before her birth . It does depend on the brand too though. George clothes in 0-3 only go up to 12lbs, M&S up to 13 1/2 lbs, that's a big difference and I can tell. The outfit she's in today is one my mym sent over from Belgium. I was very when I tried it on her and it fit. I had expected the sleeves to be to long and the dress to reach her ankles!

MatthewAndBumpsMummy · 08/06/2009 16:22

congratulations sophietom

sophiet yay huge congratulations on jake and look forward to hearing of you getting home.

jennster I'm so glad I wasn't on earlier when you were teasing everyone so well ;)

detsy I hope your dd enjoyed her unexpected train ride.. not ideal though.. bet your dh was a bit

I too have been taking clothes back this afternoon not because they're too small but as they are summer clothes in size 6- 9 months. nice idea for people to buy with growth in mind but they don't think about seasons.. summer dresses in november will be a bit chilly!

Jennster · 08/06/2009 21:38

Dd too is in 3-6 months already. Not everything, but most. Even the 0-3 footless White Company babygro she got is half mast. My friend was so proud of getting me for dd1 born in January, a snow suit size 6-9 months. She said you will have too much newborn stuff. Erm yes.

at going to Milton Keynes.
