Congrats Fi so glad you had positive experience x x

No signs here but lovely day so going out for a loooong walk to see if that does anything.

Have a good day all x x

Belgianchocolates · 23/05/2009 11:16

Morning everyone,

fi lovely to hear from you. Great to hear that your elc/s was so much more better than last time. I'm sure your breasts will catch up with your dd's appetite soon enough C being so much bigger, it does seem to have taken a touch longer than with the other 2 to catch up, but they did in the end. I started taking my iron tablets again and somehow that seems to have made a difference in both my energy levels and milk production. Have you changed any nappies yet? It's funny to do a girl after a ds!

rivermoon I'm equally impressed with your cross continental move while pg.

ses I'm also getting used to going out and about. In fact, I've found life is easier if I go out in the afternoon. It seems to send C to sleep and give me a bit of peace and quiet

It's a lovely sunny day here today, so after I've tidied the house ready for some visitors tomorrow, I might take C and the dcs to the park in the pram. It'll be her first proper walk, rather than car journey.

RiverMoon · 23/05/2009 11:49

Congratulations FiKelly! I hope you and your little girl are resting.

Frazzle your birth story was amazing!

Rosielady: We have moved to America for the first time. Everything is different here! But I love it!
Ses, Belgianchocolates: Thank you! Delta airlines are quite cool about pregnant ladies flying in late pregnancy. I was treated like a queen. All our belongings arrived 4 days after we did, in a huge shipment container. They emptied all the boxes, so I had to put everything away. I only finished last week. Nesting really kicked in when we got here. But amazingly I did it all and I am ready for my little princess?s arrival. My hubby had to work, but I was rewarded with lovely foot massages and takeout whilst I was organising, so it wasn?t too bad!
Well I am off to Ikea and then to purchase a nursing chair, hopefully something will start today!
x

Belgianchocolates · 23/05/2009 11:51

Rivermoon I bet you'll find a big difference in how ante-natal care works and care in labour will be much more different too. As far as I know the USA is much more medicalised than here.

SpangleMaker · 23/05/2009 11:54

Congratulations Fi So glad you had a better experience this time. Looking forward to hearing your birth story when you have the chance & seeing pics of your (not so!) little girl.

RiverMoon very impressed with your move. You sound very chilled about it all! Hope things start for you soon.

Ses it's good to get out and about. Baby can sleep or look around at things and you get to do 'normal' stuff. Enjoy the wedding today.

Momino · 23/05/2009 12:25

hi all. still in my pj's and it's after noon ! well, I've been busy (searching for an excuse). actually, made fairy cakes this morning as we ran out of the ones brought to us by a friend and I'm desperate for choc cake . just have to ice them now and let DD's top them with something sugary and sickly.

Fi, congrats and hope you and new baby doing well.

rivermoon, I think I remember you from earlier. did you go by a diff MN name? anyway, glad the move went ok, can't remember where you moved to (i'm from OH btw). hope your trip to IKEA was fun (!). will be interested to hear how diff your care is in the US from here.

euromum · 23/05/2009 12:26

Congrats sausage, Minim, fi and frazzled!

Just about managing to keep up and really loving hearing about the new babies. Not much time to post though as unfortunately we are still trying to get our house finished and unpacked, and I have been a terrible hormonal wreck the last couple of days (frazz your lovely story made me weep) and unable to do anything that needs doing. Having all sorts of pre-labour signs though ds not due for another week, but I think he will be early. Trying not to panic or be too upset that I am still sitting in a building site. Luckily some lovely friends are coming over this afternoon to help sprt it out so I hope all will be well by tomorrow. Reebee also totally amazed at how you seem to have taken such a big move in your stride at this stage, I really don't feel like I am hadling my own move at all well. Happy shopping today!

Yet another whinge... I do promise to come on here and say something happier and less me me me soon!

FiKelly · 23/05/2009 14:35

belgian yes have done 1st nappy change this morning and definitely a bit weird after ds had forgotten how sticky and tar like the meconium is though!

dh brought ds for a visit this am and he likes his sister but was more interested in the bedside telly with headphones! he kept saying I'm a doctor mummy/daddy while playing with the remotes and wearing the headphones lol.

still bit dizzy but getting looked after and resting while dd does.

Blottedcopybook · 23/05/2009 14:50

Congrats to all the new Mums! Sorry not to individually namecheck but have just had a rant in the postnatal thread. DS2 and DD have both got mumps despite having had their vaccination and our Doctor told us it's because our herd immunity is non-existant around here because less than 85% of children have the MMR.

So, with a 6 day old baby in the house I have two toddlers with mumps and a 7 year old who is looking decidedly grouchy so probably brewing it. Excellent.

Momino · 23/05/2009 15:31

euro, hope all is well with you're moving in and not too stressful.

ReeBee · 23/05/2009 16:23

hello everyone

congratulations Fi and Sausagen, lovely news.

I've had a morning in the hospital - always nice to have a drive out and a change of scenery on a bank holiday! MW came round this morning to do my 40 + 10 check, and 2nd stretch and sweep, and was unhappy with the baby's high baseline heart rate so sent me in for monitoring (adv me to take my bag - it was then that DH began to panic!).

Had a fab hour and a half hooked up to monitors on what I think might actually have been a bed of nails. Of course, within the first 3 minutes the baby's heart rate was completely fine as usual, he moved perfectly, was reactive etc and made me feel like a fraud. On the plus side DH and I got to hear the inadvertent use of the f word live on on Saturday Morning Kitchen.

Even more on the plus side, the uterine monitoring showed distinct regular tightenings throughout the whole time - the MW there said it could well be the start of something. She then did my sweep and said my cervix was favourable, 1cm dilated and she'd easily stretched it to 2cm (um, ow btw...).

So, maybe this baby finally is beginning to make a move - no abseiling or bungee jumping required! Fingers crossed and hopefully legs akimbo!!

euromum, I'm flattered by the compliment re making the move abroad but unfortunately I think you mean RiverMoon rather than me!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 23/05/2009 19:22

Congrats Fi! What a whoppper!

blotted I would be furious if I were you......

Still no baby here. Busy day today including massive emotional meltdown AGAIN from me.

Sigh.

Frazz fabulous birth story.

grumpy, allbest to you. hope you're feeling better and it CAN't be long now .

blotted, i can't believe mumps is still around. should have been eradicated (is that the word?). does that mean that even though our children have had the MMR, they can still get any of those illnesses? that's terrible.

frazzledoldbag · 23/05/2009 23:00

Hi all. Just a quick one before my norks are required (again) to say hello. All good here, just a bit tired due to no sleep to speak of and a constantly hungry DS. Apparently he's lost 10% birth weight but as he has no jaundice and is feeding well the m/w isn't worried.
grumpy am thinking of you - emotional meltdowns are good, IMO. I hope your baby decides to come very soon. Have you tried using pressure on the reflexology point on the inside of your foot - about 3 fingers down from your ankle bone on the inside. When you find the spot it will REALLY hurt a lot to press on it (like a really sore bruise) - sit and massage it as much as you can bear as often as you can. I think it might have helped with me. (do both feet by the way).
Also you might remember I was stressing about work etc and the m.w thought that might be the reason my contractions kept stopping - well the night before I went into labour I gave myself a bit of a talking to and told myself that I'd deal better with the stress I"m under once the baby was out and not feeling under pressure to go into labour any more. 12 hours later I was in labour.........
fi - CONGRATS ON YOUR LITTLE GIRL. Can't wait to hear the name.
reebee - good luck!
cote CONGRATS ON YOUR LITTLE BOY - any names chosen yet?

Oh and incidentally whoever was asking about milk production boosting - I started taking 'More MIlk' capsules as soon as H was born and my milk came in yesterday - 48 hours after birth - with a vengeance! (I do look like Jordan, but H is delighted). The capsules contain fenugreek and fennel plus a couple of other milk-encouraging herbs. Apparently fennel tea can also work really well.

Better go, the milk monster is stirring. x

frazzledoldbag · 23/05/2009 23:02

oh and blotted I meant to say - MUMPS oh my god, you poor thing and your poor kids. I had mumps as I child and remember it even now. I can totally understand your anger about this issue. Hope everyone feels better very soon. x

MatthewAndBumpsMummy · 23/05/2009 23:17

hi all,

havent been on for a few days so havent been able to catch up so no name checking from me sorry.

congrats to SausagenMash MiniMenace and Fikelly

im not sure if things are happening here for me or not really, having been induced last time and having no signs i spose im sort of new to this anyway!

woke up friday morning with a small wet patch in pj bottoms, didnt think to much of it but woke up again next time with another small patch. i was due to see midwife that day at 1pm anyway so just waited till she came and told her, she said it could be a leak from hind waters so sent me to hospital to get checked, turned out that it wasnt waters (very dissapoited) but midwife said that the discharge was very watery and lots of it and could see why i thought it was my waters so didnt feel quite so silly. she also said she could see my cervix but didnt say any thing about it. anyway was put on the monitor for 20mins just to check baby and ended up being on there for about and hour becuase lo was going so crazy moving so much the heart beat was in the 180's and she wanted it to be around the 155 mark when not moving, so when lo finally settled abit it did finally come down and we could go but it was really high for quite along time, she even phoned me again later that evening to check we were ok coz she was abit worried but baby was moving ok so she said ok see you thursday.

since then ive had some show yesterday and today and still lots of discharge! also have bad back ache really low down in my back and also qutie a painful pain really down low feels like its in my fanjo its so low. dont think its contractions as its a constant pain and pressure rather than in intervals, but im hoping this is all signs that things are happening and i could have this lo soon.

put my breast pump on this morning for about 20mins and got about half an oz of fluid so not too bad for first time gonna do it daily now to try and encourage milk to come in, and also as a induction method coz i cant be bothered with any of the others at the mo!

sorry for being so me me me but im hoping people are gonna tell me im getting all the right signs and i could have a baby soon ill be 39wks 2moro and would really like lo to come 2moro as its the last day my midwife is on call this week, and it would also have been my grandads 70th birthday 2moro sadly he died 2 yrs ago in june but would be really special if lo could make his apperance in his honour. so fingers crossed i may even go and have another go with my pump now just to help things along even more!

sending best wishes to all those with lovely new babies already and good luck to all those who will be in labour or have lo in arms soon x

FiKelly · 24/05/2009 04:04

matthewandb will keep my fingers crossed things are starting for you.. didn't manage a natural birth this time either so I'm not much help with definite signs I'm afraid. but the b pump has worked for a few so no harm in keeping that going

Tummum · 24/05/2009 08:31

Just wanted to say congratulations and well done to Sausage Mini coteand fiK (and I think I forgot to say to Frazz too... how crap am I at remembering?!)

Good luck Matthewandb it does sound very promising to me and Reebee too

Frazz what a fab BS. Thanks for sharing with me. It makes me want to do it all over again, but I couldn't put up with another pregnancy tbh !

Grumpy hugs to you girl. Not surprised you are feeling rubbish. Take care of yourself.

Tummum · 24/05/2009 08:32

I meant Frazz thanks for sharing with us

Durrr

alapala · 24/05/2009 10:32

matthewandb sounds promising, but then again could be very early signs.

blotted am astounded by mumps. What a complete pain, and poor DCs. I remember having it too, especially when I walked into a table at ear level and bashed myself in the sorest spot..

According to scans my due date is actually today and still nada, nada, nada. Yaboo sucks.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 24/05/2009 12:57

Hello all.

More cheerful here today. Still cheesed off (mmmm chevre, brie, unpasteurised camembert, blue cheese) at no baby but feeling more positive. I KNOW the baby will be here soon . Thank you all for hugs and sympathy and patience with my endless whining - I'm only 4 days over after all!

I may be feeling chilled because my darlings are going to Granny's for a few days and I can sit with my feet up and do nowt. And DH is off work for 2 whole days (unheard of). I will miss my girls but..........it's lovely to have a couple of days off from them

frazz reflexology - can't reach my feet and DH won't go near them because they're so horrible (they are proper trotters) . I wonder if I can do the pressing with my big toe on t'other foot?

Sunshine here, lovely. Feet up, cold drink (non-alcoholic of course), lovely!!

OP posts:
frazzledoldbag · 24/05/2009 14:30

grumpy - your DH can still press on the right spot even if you have trainer socks on - so he has no excuse. Or get one of your older DD's to do it - my 8 yr old wanted to do it for me and bloody hell, she was good at it (when I say good, I don't mean it was nice - I mean she pressed so hard when massaging on the spot that I came out in a cold sweat with the pain. Did the trick tho..........) 4 days over is pants, that's what I was too - and I was very miserable. Just keep repeating IT WILL BE SOON.
LOL at your 'trotters' BTW. Can't be as bad as my DH's - gross.
matthewand - sounds like early labour signs to me - could mean it'll be soon or if you're like me it could continue like that for a while. Fingers crossed it's the former for you!

MatthewAndBumpsMummy · 24/05/2009 15:12

hi all,

well things are looking more promising as my waters broke at 3.15am this morning!

went into labour ward to get checked and they didnt think they had but i knew they had coz theres no way there could be that much of anything else, midwife said it was just discharge think she though i was making it up about the big gushes of fluid pouring from me, but to be fair to her that had stopped at that point. got sent home again feeling rather stupid and very dissapointed, but anyway my midwife phoned me at about 12pm and asked me about it and said that it must be my waters so in we went again! was put on monitor for 30mins everything fine there and she has said my waters have gone so if things dont start by themselves today or during the night im booked in for induction 2moro at 9.30am so by 2moro i am gonna be a mummy again no matter what feeling very happy about that as im so done with being pregnant. im 39wks today. im in shock really coz i really thought id be overdue again and have to be induced again at 40wks+12. i may have to be induced again but it wasnt all that bad last time and im hoping to have an epidural again this time anyway, but hopefully before the drip comes any where near me

good luck and best wishes to everyone else x

might make it back on here again before 2moro morning but if not ill let you know my baby news soon as were home (ish)
