Hi Ladies!

No baby yet. Enjoyed my trip to Ikea though. It was a special bargain weekend, so it was manic. People kept on asking when are you due? I said ?yesterday?, should have seen their faces?LOL.

Momino ? it was a different name?still along the lines of a moon ☺

Belgianchocolates and Momino the ante-natal system here is completely different. Some aspects I don?t like?like the constant cervix checking. I refused on Friday, because it causes bleeding and period like pains. However, my particular hospital is amazing! It?s like the Portland. Never seen anything like it. Very organised and they provide everything! My hospital bag has hardly anything in it.

Spanglemaker - I think I am chilled because I managed to get organised in time. Had my house been full of boxes, I think I would have been all over the place.

Does anyone have a nursing chair? I was contemplating getting one. Any recommendations?

ReeBee · 24/05/2009 16:15

hope you're all enjoying the lovely Bank Hol weather.

blotted, am really at the mumps outbreak, I honestly thought it was a thing of the past. I remember having it and being absolutely miserable, your poor DCs.

grumpy, it's poo isn't it, the whole waiting thing? I might ask DH to try the reflexology but am not great with anyone (even me) touching my feet: I have to issue warnings when I have a pedicure as I inadvertently lash out so it could be an entertaining (and brief) session!

Matthewandbumpsmummy, good luck! exciting news.

No baby here yet either but (TMI alert) have def lost a fair amount of plug today plus more reddy brown discharge and still random tightenings with a little light backache and period type pain thrown in for good measure.

Am trying not to get excited / think about it in case I inhibit things. I am determined to have the baby before my induction appt on Wednesday, still desperately don't want to be induced, although it does sound more attractive with every passing day.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 24/05/2009 16:59

reebee funnily enough, I've had awful backache for a few days now and have had incredibly painful BH's, I am hoping they will develop into proper contractions. That's all I've had though.

Re: feet, mine truly are awful, I have very wide, flat feet and suffer from rhino hide on them (years of walking everywhere). I just cannot bear people near my feet. DH has velociraptor claw toenails though, I don't know which is worse. Luckily the DDs have beautiful, perfect feet. I think my feet are the one bit of me loyal, loving DH would change in a flash.

matthewandbumpsmummy, all the best. I hope the induction goes well, I am .

I was tearful when I waved my babies off this afternoon, DH has driven them to York. I so hope I can have a little brother or sister waiting for them when they come back . Oh dear, I'm getting teary again

Matthew - how exciting - it sounds like things are definitely happening for you. Good luck and hope everything goes quick and smooth.

Grumpy glad you are feeling a bit more chilled out about things and being emotional is par for the course I think at this stage....I was shouting and v short fuse this morning and went back to bed and slept for about 3 hours - I must have been needing it - as I feel much more chilled out.

Reebee - hope things happen for you soon rather than being induced on Wednesday - I will be getting a C-section on Wednesday also if nothing happens before then - its all a bit surreal but hoping it is calmer and more positive than the last time.

Momino · 24/05/2009 18:26

just on quickly to say hi. Hope all of you having 'signs' (eg waters breaking, plugs, niggles etc) are doing well and things happening.

grumpy, understand you're tearful. really hope you and others overdue progress soon.

fingers crossed for you all!

pulapula · 24/05/2009 18:38

grumpy- when my DD went to stay with my PIL on Friday night, I got teary and really missed her (even though she's been a real pain and i was glad for the break). Funny eh. It's like when DH and I go out for a meal (a rare treat) and end up talking about the kids...

yawningprincess · 24/05/2009 21:01

Hi ladies- wanted to post some pics of Darcy for you to look at!

Have given up bf, felt really upset about it but to be honest it was impossible to feed on demand with a 16 month old, plus my dh had to occupy Ruby for most of the day which meant that I didn't get time with her, bearing in mind it is usually just me and rubes as I don't work, and also DH wasn't getting any quality time with Darcy as she was permanently attached to me!

She is feeding really well though and feel as if I have bonded so well with her, which is something I struggled with Ruby, so I am confident PND is not going to return.

I really feel for the ladies that are overdue. I was in slow labour for 5 days and it was soul destroying, I tried everything to shift the little one, although I think in my maternal instinct knew something was wrong as I had unexplainable high blood pressure and protein in my urine, when Darcy was born she had a true knot in her cord, so think I knew she had to come out soon.. the main things I tried were clary sage, expressing a little, raspberry leaf tea, walking loads more than usual altho that wasn't much because of SPD, and walking upstairs sideways... what I truely believe worked was visualisation of Darcy progressing down the birth canal, she turned up 2hrs later!

I struggle with waving Ruby off, in the 16 months I have had her, we have left her over night at grandparents twice and she has been babysat about 3 times thats it, I am rubbish at separation even if she is being a demon child!

Sending all you overdue ladies lots of bubba vibes and all the new mommies hope you are getting more sleep than me!!!!!!!!!!!!

Momino · 24/05/2009 22:35

yawning what gorgeous girls you have! am glad you feel you've escaped PND this time. i'm the same: have been able to bond properly wth Harper which i didn't with last dd2. I don't feel the same anxiety, depression i did as last time.

Tummum · 24/05/2009 22:55

Evening ladies. Just a quick post as off to sleep in a mo, DS allowing !

Matthewsmum v. exciting. Hope all is happening for you as I type.

Yawning how beautiful are your DCs?! I am so glad you think you have escaped PND this time. I am the same in that I had AND but it seems to have disappeared completely and I feel like myself for the first time in a long time... well about 9 months!

Reebee any more news?! Sending positive labour vibes your way

Grumpy LOL at your feet comments. Hope that you had a lovely day today and that you can relax and enjoy the quietness. IKWYM about waving DC off... I am always wishing for some time off / me time, but when it happens I mope about missing the little blighters!

I've just seen the time and need to sleep now before G wakes again. Night night.

emmabemmasmom · 25/05/2009 08:02

Morning ladies!

I hope everyone is doing well. I have been awol for a bit as I find it hard to find time to post! I try to read when I can, but then of course baby S wakes to feed!

I feel for those of you who are due or overdue. It is not easy, but it will come before you know it.

Sorry to not name check, but congrats to anyone who has had their babies!!!

I put some pictures of Sara on FB too...finally!

Yawning I wanted to ask you about your decision about BF. I totally understand where you are coming from and have been thinking the same too. BFing is going so well, but I am doing it all the time and with an 18 month old I find it very hard. DH is home for a few more days but what will I do when he is away? I really want to BF but I just don't feel like it fits into our life if that makes sense? I know you said you felt upset about the choice to stop, but are you finding it easier now? I really want to spend more time with DD1 and I worry about her roaming around when I am trapped on the couch. I don't know what to do and am hoping you will have some insight

I am feeling the drop in hormones big time. I feel like crying for no reason. We had a bad night the other night too but much better last night. Of course DD1 woke up last night though, which she never does...

We have been out nearly everyday since S was born and we even had dinner guests on Saturday. I think I am just pushing myself to much and feeling it now.

Anyway, better try to eat something myself before I am required by S again Then we are going to go for some retail therapy in the hopes that it helps

FiKelly · 25/05/2009 14:49

msg I had to wear a pant liner pretty much the whole pregnancy.. I didn't notice an increase in discharge but many of us have if I remember right.

still in hospital but should be going home tomorrow. could have gone today but thought I'd give myself an extra day to make sure I can manage bf when my milk comes in.. which looks like it is coming in atm. my boobs have exploded in size today and feel a bit hot and tender generally. no funny red patches anywhere or painful bits on them so don't think it's mastitus (sp?).

MsG · 25/05/2009 14:56

Hi all, congrats to all who have had their babies or about to!! It feels like mine's never going to come... I just don't know, I can't see it happening for a while.

Bit of a gross personal question - but have other people found the later their pregnancy gets, the more discharge you get down there? Uch.

Hope everyone is ok. xxx

ReeBee · 25/05/2009 16:15

Rosie, completely understand how you feel with your cs date looming. At least we should both have our babies within the next couple of days, regardless of how it happens.

yawning, lovely photos.

I'm not sure whether things might be happening here - advice appreciated... I keep getting backache, like loads of pressure (almost like G-force on a rollercoaster or something) and my stomach tightens a lot. I have no idea if these are contractions as I wouldn't call them painful in the sharp, achey sense of the word. Also they are happening most when I'm doing things so are p'ing me off rather than anything else!

Not sure how long they last, or how frequent or regular they are as we've had a really busy day taking all our kitchen units to pieces, moving appliances, disconnecting and draining the water, pipes, sinks etc and then rebuilding it all, filling loads of holes etc (we had a slug issue, don't ask) - so I suppose I could just have overdone it and got tired and backache from that.

I suppose if it is anything then I'll find out tonight probably! I don't think it hurts enough to be anything 'proper'. Although I have lost masses more plug today I know that that's not a sign that things are imminent.

I don't want to keep an eye on things re timings etc until I'm convinced that there's something to keep an eye on!

Hmmm, I think I just need to get a grip!

(brilliant, have never spoken about myself in the third person / as stage directions before!)

alapala · 25/05/2009 17:16

Oooo Reebee sounds like a start but unless you are the world luckiest woman 'real' contractions will hurt a lot so you'll know. True though that the pain is dull rather than sharp.. good luck.

Nothing here - another 200 euros to Dr Marcos today and my cervix has not shifted one millimeter. I really thought number 2 DS would be on time, seeing as his brother was. Pooo, pooo, pooooooooooooooooo.

Tummum · 25/05/2009 18:09

Hi Reebee sorry, but those sound like strong BHs to me (although I'd love to be proved wrong !!). As alapala said, ctx do hurt, although they can start off mild AFAIK.

Alapala pooooo is right... being overdue is rubbish. Sending strong labour vibes your way

FiK glad to hear you are well and taking care of yourself. Good luck with the BF.

rosielady · 25/05/2009 20:03

Reebee thanks for your words of encouragement - I think I am feeling more positive about it now and looking forward to meeting the baby - at last!

As for what you are feeling - IKWYM - I am getting the same, but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere and does seem to relate to when I am doing stuff - today we went up to the allotment to get my cages finished off and peas and beans planted and when I was hoeing I was getting pains and aches!

It sounds like you may have done too much today I think.
Try to relax as there is a rollercoaster to come I think.

MsG - me too - discharge has been increasing. Although I think I have an infection as the midwife said my urine had 3 positives and they were going to get me to take a sample to the docs, but once my date for CS was booked they thought it wouldnt be worth it as the results wouldnt be back before I have the baby.
Emmab good to hear from you - I completely understand you are kind of busy at the moment! I see what you mean about time with DD1 being difficult to spend time with, when you are tied to the chair feeding DD2. Could you perhaps mix feed? dropping a couple of feeds to let DH do them in the afternoon to allow you some time with DD!? You will still have to feed DD1 when DH is back at work so you may as well BF.
It does sound like perhaps you are doing too much as well and maybe need to pace yourself when DH is back at work.

detsy · 25/05/2009 20:47

Hi girls - quick post and sending positive labour vibes to all those thinking about it - I know its a PITA (I was 7 days over) but so worth it and the little monkeys won't budge till they are ready! Sorry Grumpy

Also big smiles about your rhino feet - we videoed Archies birth (not for anyone else but me as when you're doing it you don't get to see it - if that makes any sense??!) And I noticed the hard skin on my heels in the video As it happens my sister and one of my bf has watched it - it makes me cry every time and I'm not half as noisy as I imagined I was

Big hugs and congrats to the new mummies - think so far its fi - what a bouncing baby girl, that would have been an ouch, glad you had a good cs exp this time, Saus mini and cote kisses for your new littlies as well and well done to you all xxx

Reebee i had the same confusion first time round and thought I was in labour as was getting twinges and regular ish pains - my hospital have a policy (which I always thought odd till this time round) where they don't "believe" you to be in labour until youcan't hold a decent conv with them on the phone!! The 2nd time I phoned them with Archie, I was puffing and panting and holding onto the banisters for dear life - so they suggested I make my way in, lol!!! Could be slow labour starting tho and at least something is happening - all v exciting.

Huge hugs and good luck to those imminent - have to dash as DS is starting to squeak.

I want to come back later tho and join in the conv about bf with Yawning and Emma - been tearing myself apart with exactly the same issue and am missing my DD like crazy as a result of regularly attached baby - can we come back to this one in a bit ??

detsy · 25/05/2009 20:53

Also - sorry but have lost the posst natal thread - does anyone have a link or can point me in the right direction - addled brain cells or what - no bloody idea how to find it!

pulapula · 25/05/2009 20:57

Detsy here's the link. If you loose it again you go to topics, being a parent (more) and you should find post-natal clubs.

One more question for you - how do I scroll back thru our previous threads as well - I need to get back to one where I posted my BS which was the one before this one (I think..?!!) Sorry to be such a dullard - hoping it doesn't last

pulapula · 25/05/2009 21:11

sausagenmash · 25/05/2009 21:50

Hello everyone

Just a quick one to say hello and thanks for all the congrats.. Martha and I came home this afternoon after being in hospital since Wednesday... absolutely shattered, bruised and sore - but M is now well. Will do BS another time soon, but we had a "normal" vag delivery, with a ventouse, M aspirated meconium - one lung got infected, the other had a pneumothorax, so she was v poorly She weighed 7lbs 4oz. Am off to bed now... she's v gd at bfeeding already so no doubt I will be awake soon. Can't believe it all really. Nnight, back soon xxx

minimenace · 25/05/2009 22:08

Hi all,
They finally let me out after getting my blood pressure back up off the floor. so just a quick post to let you know that Isaac and I are doing well.

Thanks for all the lovely messages.

Well done Frazz you beat me by a day

I'll post again soon with birth story soon.

Anyone got any good tips for reducing feet and legs that are suddenly the size of elephants. I'm being told it's because of the post op but can hardly walk and just want to sort it.
