totally off the baby subject. missed a couple hours of sleep because I'd woken in the middle of night not being able to breathe, chocking not on food but like my throat was closing. this has happened before but in the daytime, sometimes when i eat. it's a minute or so when i can breathe again but very scary when it's happening. this is the 1st time it's happened in sleep so i was afraid to go back tosleep. i googled a bit and think it may be when i have sinus 'drip' which might get caught in the back of my throat, or a type of reflux ( again). almost thought it was food allergy but this was hours after i'd eaten.

anyway, left with sleep deficit again so will try to nap today. Harper ok in the night but waking about 3 hourly, would like it to be 4 hourly so hope i can 'move' her to that schedule soon.

we took her yesterday for her hearing test (all ok) then to be registered. she's now a UK registered little person .

Hope frazz and anyone else in labour is doing well, breathing in a relaxed manner and holding your new LO soon. ahhhh.

blotted,yes you can!

OP posts:
FiKelly · 15/05/2009 07:10

blotted lol.. I needed that.

thanks for all the hugs.. got about 3 or maybe 4 hours sleep as ds woke up at 5am.. dh tried to get him to go back to sleep but he'd had about 12hrs so not much luck there. still very emotional and tiredness won't be helping. dh is taking today off work as ds will be just too much for me with no sleep . as soon as the carpet guy has finished I'll head to bed for a sleep after lunch.

wonder how frazzle is doing?!

FiKelly · 15/05/2009 07:14

momino sounds scary.. not surprised it took you a while to sleep again.

Momino · 15/05/2009 07:32

fi, you've got a lot going on: baby due, DS to watch as well, dog, carper man... i'm so glad your Dh has taken off work, you really need someone to take a bit of the work off you at least today. be sure to take that lunchtime nap.

i've got dh as well. we've been having so much trouble with our new kitchen installed about 6 weeks ago. the installer just came (7.20am!) to re install a new sink/unit, piece of wood worktop because the parts were faulty (not a good thing in a new kitchen). this is the 3rd time he's had to return tofix things. and Ikea have overdelivered and not picked up the extras which have been laying around our dining room for 6 weeks.

we're trying to get this all fixed before DH goes back to work next wed but it's been such a palaver . Ikea kitchens are not as expensive as other kitchens but still a lot of money to spend for things to go wrong. thank goodness for the 25 yr guarantee, we've really taken advantage of it in the 6 weeks we've had the kitchen!

can you tell i'm bored and need tochat? DD's not up yet, Harper asleep at boob, dh downstairs with installer. so you (prob just poor fi) have to listen to my droning. sorry!

OP posts:
Momino · 15/05/2009 07:33

ohh, hate to post a long one and run. hear 2 little voices in the other room soon to join me and H in bed. see you later.

OP posts:
Blottedcopybook · 15/05/2009 07:40

Right! I'm off, will try and keep you lot posted if/when something happens but my number is on the facebook page if anyone wants a blether. Remember and tell me who's texting though because I have a new phone and have accidentally wiped the address book

See you on the other side!

FiKelly · 15/05/2009 07:41

ds was bit confused where douglas was. dh had to show him every room in the flat as he kept saying he wanted to go and find him and bring him back to the bedroom. we said you know how douglas was so poorly.. he got a lot worse and had to go to the vet last night so unfortunately we won't be able to see him again.

FiKelly · 15/05/2009 08:00

I suppose I should get dressed.. can't wonder about the flat in my built in support camisole and knickers all day.. well I could but would be too embarrassed in front of carpet guy!

Febes · 15/05/2009 08:38

Morning reporting again for sodding roll call. I'm now the most pregnant I've ever been. DD was born in the early hours of 40+7 and I'm now 40+7. . Oh well Mum is here in just over 24 hours so I guess LO is waiting for Grandma. At least I won't have to worry about childcare for DD with her here and she hasn't seen me pregnant so it might be fun to spend a few days with her before the madness begins. I still feel totally fine and apart from the odd period pain and tightening there has been nothing to write home about at all.

Fi I'm so sorry about your Douglas Dog. Take heart that he was so well looked after and obviously loved by you all. x

Blotted are you in for induction today? I didn't realise. ust check the list. If so good luck xx

Momino Sounds like you have everything sorted with your girls and that Harper is settling into a routine. Super mum!!

Flippin How do you pronounce your DDs name I haven't heard it before. I had a look at the hotos on FB and she is gorgeous!!!

emmabemmasmom · 15/05/2009 08:44

Morning ladies!

fi I am so so sorry to hear your news. I know it is very hard to loose a pet as they are like family. My cat is 19 years old this August and I can relate...Really hope you are doing ok today. Thinking of you!

frazz Oh good luck! I bet you have already had your LO...can't wait to hear!

Well everything has stopped on my end. Grrrr. I am still uncomfortable but nothing really seems to be happening. I am so upset! I had a great nights sleep though so maybe my body was letting me sleep in preperation?!? Oh god I just wish I could get on with it already!

DH is home though to help with DD so hope I can just rest and be pampered, but that would be the day! lol We were having a laugh lastnight and I told him that he needs to be kissing my feet and taking care of me. He replied with 'Why what have you done?'!! Ummm you mean what am I about to do you idiot...so I think I got through to him. Funny how when DH is sick I always ask 'what can I get you, are you cold? want a blanket? How about some soup?' But noooooo not for me! lol Well ok he made me coffee this morning and he is doing the dishes now...still no dish fairy in my house...

LoobyLou36 · 15/05/2009 08:44

morning all...

oh fi so sorry to hear about douglas dog

we've had a very restless night here. have had alot of trouble settling Matilda probably due to her suffering from thrush poor thing . I think I managed 3hrs sleep all night. She's peaceful at the mo - completely exhausted I think, so have managed to have a cup of tea and some cornflakes and will now jump in the shower.

think I might have to put off walking into town later, I've managed to hurt myself lifting a box out of a cupboard yesterday whilst looking for something cs wound is more painful and swollen.

Hv is due at 11.30 so had better put some clothes on - all I want to do is slob on the sofa in pj's.

LoobyLou36 · 15/05/2009 08:48

good news is that I've booked holiday flights for the end of September. hopefully this will give me the incentive to lose the baby weight

quite scared at the thought of taking Matilda abroad but she will be 5 months by then so assume we will be a bit more organised and settled by then?

emmabemmasmom · 15/05/2009 09:33

looby Oh exciting about your holiday! I took DD to the states alone when she was 6 months. It was not easy traveling alone that far but I managed and was so glad I did it. I think traveling when they are smaller is actually a little easier! Take it easy though with the cs wound you!!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 15/05/2009 09:37

Flippin Angharad is GORGEOUS (the hair!) and I love love love the name. Is there a shortened form? I would presume Annie or something?

Have you been at the Touche Eclat to look so fresh-faced and dewy?

Blotted Oh that made me laugh - I hope you absolutely ripped the piss out of him for that. Just realised - you'll be gone by now - I'll text you later.

Momi eek at the throat thing, especially waking you up

Loobs Oh poor you. I really hope the CS scar heals soon, I hope you have a good day today

Fi Good morning, I hope today is ok for you, your lovely DH, staying at home. Catch up on some sleep xxxxxxx

I hope Frazz is ok and cuddling little baby boy right now.

Sorry if I've missed anyone. Just waiting for MW to turn up, she couldn't tell me when she'd be here other than 'morning'.

LoobyLou36 · 15/05/2009 09:38

booking the flights for the holiday means i've got something to look forward to when i'm having a down day. I love M to bits but do feel quite isolated alot of the time, I know it will get better tho, especially when I can get out and about more.

also I can now look for some really cute outfits for M's first holiday!

what sunscreen should I be using for her? prob a thick question but a first timer

ReeBee · 15/05/2009 10:27

Reporting in for roll call. Feel v sick today and bump is painful on one side - probably the baby and my stomach protesting at too much curry and pineapple!

Pleased I'm not the only one anti-induction, and interesting that different PCTs have different views.

Fi, what sad news, I'm so sorry about Douglas. At least he was at home and being loved when it happened, and it was over quickly. Dogs are a part of the family and you have all my sympathy; you must be devastated.

Frazz, how exciting - wonder if you have any news yet?!

Blotted - good luck!!

Flippin, great name! Just off to FB to have a look at the photos.

We have a viewing today at 2pm - yay! (Our 3rd in 3 weeks after 4 months with nothing) Wish me luck!

runningmonkey · 15/05/2009 10:39

Fi so re Douglas, big hugs from me and glad you, DH and DS are all together today, hope you manage to get some sleep.

Flippin gorgeous wee girl and lovely name too. I am also impressed how fresh faced you look!

looby sorry you had a disturbed night and have hurt yourself but woo hoo on the holiday, where are you going or did I miss that? We're going camping in August with friends who assure me its easy with a 3 month old I bought some baby/kids sunscreen that is factor 50, think its Nivea but wil have a look out for it later and let you know.

Momino sounds scary, hope you are ok now.

Hope frazz is ok

emma sorry things seem to have stopped for you, but and very of you having a day of being pampered.

Blotted lol at DH. Hope today goes well for you.

This morning, I am trying to stitch together my first ever bit of knitting - a pram blanket. Its proving v difficult with my carpal tunnel syndrome which has got much, much worse over the last day or two - holding anything in my right hand just causes numbness/pins and needles, its really uncomfy so any suggestions for things to relieve it would be good, the yoga exercises aren't working anymore

runningmonkey · 15/05/2009 10:51

thought I'd repost and try to update the list, and correct the gender of my impending arrival as well as the latest births. I might have missed someone tho... not intentionally, I promise!

Let me know if this is ok and I'll update the birth announcements list too...

Oooooh Fi you poor, poor thing - lots of doggie hugs coming your way. Our family is a real doggie family, and have been heartbroken each time a dog dies. We've always had boxers, and they don't tend to go past age 10 or so - I still get all teary when I see old pictures. My Mum had to explain to my (then) 3 yr old nephew when Basil died a couple of years ago that he had gone to heaven, and he took it quite well.... it was only when he asked my Dad when was he getting Basil from Devon as his friend from nursery went there for her holiday, and she's back already.... siiigh...

Flip - beautiful name... I love that name, but haven't been allowed it - booooo! Would you shorten it to Annie or Harry?

Lots of luck to Frazz...! Reebee - hope you feel better soon...

Gaaah - on phone to MIL2b - 3rd call from her this week..... AAARRRRGGHGH!!!

sausagenmash · 15/05/2009 11:01

Any news from Bantam btw... ? Or have I missed something?

divedaisy · 15/05/2009 11:27

Fi - so sorry to hear about Douglas. Big doggy hug going your way.

Congratulations to all of you who have your new little ones in your arms. I've missed a lot over the past 2 weeks or so, and I don't think I'll get the chance to catch up. so sorry I cannot comment individually...

Sofiah is doing well thankfully. We were in hospital for 4 days after she was born as she was being treated for a potential Strepp B infection. We were allowed home on the Wednesday afternoon, but just as we were beginning to settle ourselves for our first night home, the hosptial phoned to get her admitted as there blood cultures were indicating another potential Strepp B infection which they couldnt ignore (the bug that can develop Meningitis). So back up to the hospital with her and she was in until Saturday morning when we were given the all clear.

In the middle of all this I was breastfeeding painfully, and develpoed mastitis and breast thrush - very very sore. So the antibiotics I was put on for thrush I couldn't bf her. I had tried to keep up by expressing but to be honest it was getting too much for me. Also my neck, shoulders and arms are extremely painful so I thinkthe best thing for me is to bottle feed her and get myself back onto my painkillers for my neck. Are any of you exclusively bottlefeeding? I feel a bit guilty about it at the minute and find myself tryign to justify my decision to myself over and over...

I will post my birth story soon - when I get a good hour to do it without interuption!!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 15/05/2009 11:42

dive don't feel guilty - just do what's best for you and your baby. Don't let anyone guilt you about bottle feeding either.

MW has been. No sweep (she looked aghast when I asked if I would have one today), head still bobbing about. I will be booked in for an induction if I go 10 days over I said, I don't want one and MW ignored me so I sense a battle ahead . Positives, baby lying in as near perfect a position for birth as possible and all is well. The Slapped Cheek thing is not an issue either. Yay! However, once again I am measuring smaller - 38. My dates were changed at my initial scan, I think I may actually be 38+2 and therefore due on 27th May but I kept quiet on that one.

Sigh. Still no signs of anything happening, I really, really, really don't want to go over and be induced.

Off for a sad sulk now.

But, I hope everyone is ok today

SpangleMaker · 15/05/2009 11:44

I was just thinking about bantam too.

Hope Frazz is ok. am sure she has her LO by now... how exciting!

Fi about Douglas. Hope your DH helps you get some rest today.

detsy good luck for hosp appt this morning. i'll text you about a visit tho am hoping you may have to cancel, in the nicest possible way.

Tired this morning. H was very sleepy yesterday. I was a bit worried about him by the end of the day actually as he didnt feed as much as usual - my boobs were killing me & needed breast pads for the 1st time since my milk came in. He didnt poo either! Happily he had simply decided to go nocturnal & was perky as anything & guzzling away during the night

Oooh - was unresonably excited yesterday at doing a supermarket shop with just H. Embarrassed myself by talking to him on the way round (he was asleep) Even more i sometimes find i'm talking to him when he's not even in the same room!

minimenace · 15/05/2009 11:49

Still here ... sorry for short post.

Thanks for all the well wishes sorry i can't namecheck right now.

Does anyone know what the record is for the longest labour ever ? I may as well have something to aim for.

I sent DH back to work today and I am resting as much as poss between contractions as advised by hospital.

Good luck and speedy wishes to all those with signs of imminent labour. although that probably doesn't mean much coming from mrs slowcoach.
