Press those thumbs ladies - lets get these babies moving!!

I'm having some serious tightenings but am not getting excited - simply refuse to.

Ok off to type up a whole load of lotti instructions - just in case - am quite fretful about leaving her but can't be helped and will have to happen at some point in the future!

check back in later x

And yeah where is Frazz - prob ironing or concocting something yukky to swallow

No one responded about Bantam I checked on FB but don't think she got involved in that "scene" - hope she is ok

Spangle saw your new pics of H - my goodness he is gorgeous! Must get to see him soon!! xx

detsy · 13/05/2009 19:20

Oh euro this evening having post bath battles and lots of giggles with my DD (18 months) I too thought oh I so want another one (ie in addition to the little awkward, comfy person currently on board) so I'm with you on the crackers front!!

Belgianchocolates · 13/05/2009 19:31

Hmmm, I'm very very emotional at the moment. Just cried with dh. I just can't seem to be able to settle C. Everyone else seems to be able to hold her and she'll sleep for hours. I hold her and she cries, roots, etc... The pram doesn't seem to work either. I'm starting to get really worried about dh being away over the weekend, on top of it I'm feeling more tired than before my 2 bad nights and I feel like I'm coming down with the cold that's been going round this house because of my fatigue Baby C just seems to be the type of baby who goes to sleep really difficultly. BF doesn't tend to knock her out like it did with my other 2. On top of it all my dd1 is making me even more stressed out while C is crying because she's moaning that the baby is crying and she can't eat while the baby cries, etc...

SpangleMaker · 13/05/2009 19:47

Belgian sending you virtual non-MNetty Don't forget - I'm sure you haven't - that this is the time for getting teary & emotional, and it will pass in a day or two. I was a wreck on days 3&4 and had a total meltdown in front of one of the midwives, who was lovely about it, although I was very . Also I think babies do change their habits quite quickly at this stage and because C is like this now doesn't mean she will stay that way. Has your milk come in properly yet? That might make a difference to knocking her out.

H is indeed 6 weeks old today It's gone so quickly yet in some ways I can't remember what life was like before. I think I'm slowly starting to get used to being a mum. Still have some 'settling down' to do with DH but won't go on about that now as he's about to come home!

Detsy I keep thinking of asking if you'd be up for me bringing H round to see you but you keep teasing me by nearly going into labour! Perhaps we should arrange a date & then sod's law would dictate it'll kick off on that day (hopefully not as I arrive, with the thread trend for quick labours )

Tummum · 13/05/2009 19:54

Hugs to you Belgian sounds very difficult. Spangle is right - of course you are feeling hormonal and apprehensive about this weekend. Do you have any friends you could palm off --the kids play date with so you can get some time off childcare?

FiKelly · 13/05/2009 20:00

belgian are you getting the milk coming in hormonal day blues? I'm sure the week end without DH won't be as bad as you are expecting... could Claire be picking up on your apprehension/tiredness/stress and responding to it? Is your DH quite a laid back kinda guy and maybe that's why she's a bit more settled with him (apart from the not smelling milk on him)?

chocolatebunnies glad you got a good rest this afternoon... it sounds like it was just what was needed.

I'll give you all a laugh... i've been stuffing a Noukies 'pinto the donkey' comforter like this one down my ample cleavage for a few days when pottering around the flat so when the baby comes i have something to pop next to her that smells of me when she's in her crib to help her settle. I did the same with DS and it really helped him so thought i'd try it again. Well I took the dog out for a wee/poo in the garden & bumped into the son of one of my next door neighbours (think he's late 20's/early 30's) who was off to a hiphop gig in Bristol... it wasn't until i was heading back in from the garden... you know what's coming next don't you?! i'd forgotten i still had the comforter stuffed into my cleavage with the donkey head sticking out the middle LOL he never mentioned it but must have been seriously wondering why it was there?!

FiKelly · 13/05/2009 20:04

and here's the links i found re fenugreek to go with the other ones that have been posted earlier...

minimenace · 13/05/2009 20:06

BelgianC {hugs} wish I could give you advice but I can't tell you anything you don't already know. hang in there girly, we are here for you to vent at and give support if you need it.

Well my tightenings are a little stronger this evening and getting closer together. I'm still unsure if it will amount to anything. I was getting them 10 mins apart every other one being strong and then a weak one in between. now they are about 8 mins. one lasting 40-45 secs and the inbetweens lasting 20 secs. according to DH's Labour mate newly installed on the iphone. LOL

I still don't know when to raise the alarm, get the parents over to pick up DS. DH keeps saying when do we call ? is this it ?
how the hell do I know ... arrrggghh

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 13/05/2009 20:06

Fi , what must he have thought?! That really made me smile A LOT

Belgian Oh I hope you just have baby blues, DD2 was the same, she settled really quickly for DH and fretted with me. I too am sending very un-rumpy and un-MNetty hugs to you.

Detsy I reckon Frazz is having some weird gas & air/dessert/sex/ironing concoction.

FiKelly · 13/05/2009 20:22

grumpy I still have the donkey in there now.. figured dh is out (doesn't bat an eyelid at it anyway!) and ds & dog now both asleep so mnetting away with it

FiKelly · 13/05/2009 20:26

ooo minim it could be happening for you... not at all i promise

FiKelly · 13/05/2009 20:32

DH is off doing a stocking us up on food shop atm... if he's not too shattered I think i'll suggest some get things going induction... really keen to not be going into labour on my birthday on saturday and with the twinges of the last few days it might just work?! [she hopes & then wonders if it's a good idea... am i ready? arrgh?!]

FiKelly · 13/05/2009 20:36

right off to change into my hotmilk sexy black nightie... may spark his interest when he gets home?! lol

FiKelly · 13/05/2009 20:37

oh and definitely lose the donkey...

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 13/05/2009 20:37

Ooh Belgian I meant un-Grumpy hugs (not un-rumpy which means something completely different )

Fi My dog would be attacking my norks if I walked around with a toy sticking out of them.

Mmm DH made Spanish Tortilla for tea, it was delicious. And he's just brought me a cup of tea. my hero.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 13/05/2009 20:39

X-posts Fi, it'll be your DH attacking your norks. Any custard involved?

daizydoo · 13/05/2009 20:45

Hello ladies - I'm back! We were kept in hospital overnight and I'm like a dairy cow, feeding every 3hrs and expressing for topups - I am exhausted, but the good thing is ds2 has put on weight and his bloods we okay so we were able to come home this evening. We just have to go back on Friday for a final blood test.

Belgian - you sound like me. I really struggled to settle ds1 and its started with ds2 again. Everyone else seems to be able to comfort them, but me. Has your milk come in yet? Hope the weekend is better than you think it'll be.

I think my hormones are playing silly beggars with me. I have not like being pregnant x2 and last night I was thinking it would be nice to have more children, especially a dd. Maybe it was lack of sleep or something! Dh has just laughed at me and said no way! Oh yeah and I miss being pregnant - what is that all about

Anyhow all the best for those in early labour and congrats to Pula. I'm off to feed my lo

sausagenmash · 13/05/2009 20:45

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah I'm soooooooo tired....... dp not home yet (IN BLOODY PUB) so not had dinner yet and I'm staaaaarving.

Can I join the July thread, please? Am fed up with this effing alien inside me. Got v fed up at 5am when I couldn't sleep anymore because of dp's incessant snoring, so went into spare bed, and was just dozing off when lo got hiccups. AAAARGH. I nearly hit my belly I was SO PISSED OFF. Then had to go into work today for a crappy team away day thingy which was indeed very crappy and everyone came away moaning. Gah.

Ahem.

Hope things are on the up for choc

Re: naughty foods. I had some pate the other day, and I DON'T CARE. (It was bloody lush!)

Belgianchocolates · 13/05/2009 20:46

My milk is coming in at the moment, I can feel it, but not fully arrived. It could be the baby blues I suppose, never had that with the other 2. I'm normally someone who doesn't get overly emotional. I think it's the tiredness more than anything, so I'm going for an early night tonight while dh looks after C. I've just fed her and she's had loads, so hopefully she'll stay settled for him for a good few hours.

FiKelly · 13/05/2009 20:54

on phone now.. but donkey less now. grumpy lol at your dog.. what kind is he again? my dog generally can't be bothered with toys these days.. but would do almost anything for cheese!

minimenace · 13/05/2009 20:58

Phoned parents they are on their way over to pick up DS - better than relying on them to get to the hospital in time during the night. DH has called his boss and said he won't be in tomorrow. I'm hoping I will be able to relax once DS is gone with Grandma and then I can go out for a walk, have a bath and just generally on with it.

God I hope I haven't raised the alarms for another false night of labour.
Still no show or jelly or pink stuff or anything just I have really strong backache now .. pleaase please please be coming now LO.

Momino · 13/05/2009 21:03

belgian, hope you're feeling happier soon. it's tough the first weeks, imo. dd3 is much more settled than dd1&2 but still feel like it's really hard work esp with sleep deprivation. no matter how 'settled' a baby is, the 1st month or more is tough getting baby used to night/day, baby uses crying as communication but it's soooo tough to bear, not only for other DCs but for us as well. hang in there.

Harper is a bit unsettled at night and I'm not sure if it's colic (her knees come up and i hear tummy noises). anyway, we're trying a dummy which we never did for dd1&2. it's worked sometimes but not working right now.

those with dogs and new babies - mine is acting weird. at 1st he didn't seem to notice the new baby. but today esp as i've been bf, he is overly attentive and comes up close to me and baby and looks intently at me... is he just being protective now to the nursing mother? weird.
