LoobyLou36 · 13/05/2009 15:45

congrats on all the new babes!

have completely lost track of this thread now..

have hired an electric breast pump from NCT to try and up milk supply and take Matilda off formula. Good news - MW weighed her again today and she's now only 50g away from her birth weight so we've been signed off!! Bad news- Matilda has got thrush so am waiting for the prescription to be dropped off for her and me.

I have got some fenugreek tablets. On the label it says you shouldn't take them if pregnant or nursing. Is this them just covering themselves? I am assuming that all you ladies who take them have checked this out and they are fine to take?

LoobyLou36 · 13/05/2009 15:47

electric pump is a bit of a faff and I now officially feel like a dairy cow must but if it helps Matilda I will perservere

Jennster · 13/05/2009 15:47

Yes but you also had a physiological 3rd stage Belgian. I am DEFINITELY going to try to do that this time.

LoobyLou36 · 13/05/2009 15:52

this BF sure seems to be getting the baby weight off. Got on the scales this morning and have lost 18lbs since Matilda was born - is this normal?

Belgianchocolates · 13/05/2009 15:53

jenn do go for it. I felt so well afterwards. With ds and dd1 the syntometrine really made me feel rough. I was so sick and weak for a good few hours. I only realised that it was a side effect of the syntometrine after training to be a mw. They never mention the side effects when discussing the 3rd stage with you.

detsy · 13/05/2009 15:55

ah oui tres bon Jenn il est tres posh dans preston - non?

Belgianchocolates · 13/05/2009 15:55

looby yes it is! The weight loss is 1 of the nice bits of bf. Last time it only took me 4 months to get to my pre preg weight. I'm hoping 4 the same this time around

Jennster · 13/05/2009 15:59

Absolutement. No idea why I replied in French. I think I'm going slightly mad. Off for another walk. Need some Creme Fraiche for dinner. Found some hot smoked salmon in the freezer, and thought it would be nice with some of last years peas and beans I still have in the freezer and pasta.

minimenace · 13/05/2009 16:09

huge food at BelgianC I really want to eat goat cheese and for some reason last night I really wanted to get very drunk - I've not felt like that in 9 months.
I think I could have drunk half a bottle of voddy if it was given to me but luckily the moment passed very quickly.
Also my MIL left me a tin of Fois Gras in my cupboard when she was last over here from France, with my name and yesterdays date written on it - bless her.

FiKelly · 13/05/2009 16:12

ooo jennster can I come for tea? salmon appealing to me too but going to have to have ours with roast potatoes and bought frozen petit pois.

looby great that matilda's weight is almost back to birth weight.. that's fab. lol at the dairy cow. if I have enough any milk this time I'll be investing in a b pump to be a dairy cow too.. [she hopes][makes mental note to buy fenugeek just in case]

LoobyLou36 · 13/05/2009 16:12

brill! we are thinking of going to Spain at the end of sept (if finances allow) would be nice to get back to Slimming World target before then

FiKelly · 13/05/2009 16:14

right off to peel spuds back in a bit

LoobyLou36 · 13/05/2009 16:17

did u take fenugreek last time fikelly? sorry if i am repeating myself

LoobyLou36 · 13/05/2009 16:19

is it def safe?

FiKelly · 13/05/2009 16:40

looby I didn't know about it last time and had major supply probs due to being so poorly after ds's birth. but quite a few girls on here have mentioned it and have used it with bf previous dc's. I looked at a few bf websites and they've mentioned it too.. when I'm on the laptop later I'll post the links.

minimenace · 13/05/2009 17:00

Looby I didn't take the tablets last time but I drank the tea made from crushed seeds and it worked really well.

There is advice on it here ...www.breastfeeding.com/all_about/all_about_fenugreek.html

sorry if that link doesn't work I'm not very good at them yet

Blottedcopybook · 13/05/2009 17:04

Evening ladies!

I've been out all day with the little DCs and honest to God I don't know why I bothered - they've been a pair of grumpy little buggers all day! I've been getting really painful twinges that have stopped me in my tracks whenever I walk but they're stopping when I relax. I'm really hoping that things kick off for me before Friday and I'm not sure if it's wishful thinking now or if I really am experiencing some symptoms. Argh!

How are you all today? x

Jennster · 13/05/2009 17:21

Bum! Managed to buy fromage frais instead of creme fraiche. Thought they'd just changed the pack. Lots of nice cramps again. Bought some paracetamol in Boots and got the 3rd degree about taking it while pregnant. Are you sure she said. Can't find maternity pads anywhere. I went to a Mothercare World this morning, and they only had packs of 48. I've got loads so won't need that many more (especially if I go for physiological 3rd stage) and the only small packs they had, were ones with wings. Wings are horrible and just spread it a bit further....yuk.

Fenugreek info here looby Do you still have blood glucose issues. Read carefully if you do.

Belgian Thanks for reminding me about naughty food. Just added some dirty pate and cheese to my Ocado order. For the syntometrine, do you have up to 30mins post delivery to decide if you want it? After that time you can't?

chocolatebunnies · 13/05/2009 17:36

So I've been asleep since lunch time, not feeling tierd anymore thats for sure! Im still quite sore and uncomfortable, want baby out now, while I have the energy! The next 5mins would be prefect for me!

Madi will be home in a bit and DH has just finished work and is on his way so am feeling a bit chirpier.

Will be having a bath soon, hmmmmm will wait till DH gets home first!

Just remembered football is on tonight, great

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 13/05/2009 17:50

Evening all

DH has actually been home early for once and has taken DD1 to Tang Soo Do for me. DD2 and I are eating Mini Magnums and watching Mister Maker .

I have done nowt today, just washing (actually I say I've done nowt, but I have done a lot of washing) and ironing, but have hugely swollen cankles.

DD2 made me laugh earlier - I'd been explaining that her tummy button was from when she was inside me, etc. She said "Mummmmmeeee I want to open up your tummy and see what's inside. I want to see what the baby looks like". Ewww! She then laid her head on my bump and sang to the baby. Bless.

Chocobunnies glad you're feeling a little better, I was sorry to hear you were tearful earlier

Still very of all the gorgeous babies out there - Spangle I was thinking about you earlier - Harvey must be 6 weeks old now? Wow!!

Blotted I was hoping you'd burst into spontaneous labour .

Wonder how Frazz is?

Febes · 13/05/2009 18:18

I have not had a BH or show or anything all afternoon which is weird as yesterday was getting tightenings every 10mins all afternoon. Maybe my body is saving it all up for tonight when the real deal will kick off . I have done nothing all afternoon except play will DD and sing songs and field "have you had it yet?" calls . Do people not think you will text or ring if something happens?

Looby I found the first 3 weeks the weight poured off and then I stayed the same for ages as I was always hungry from BFing and drinking a bit of wine again . I think you lose lots of extra fluid in the early days too.

Tummum · 13/05/2009 18:28

Evening ladies. Sorry I can't name check everyone but finding it hard to keep up with the thread !

I am shattered tonight because G was up since 5.30am and I haven't had a chance to get a nap in today. I have been busy attempting to be organised and showing some more love to DDs today. So they are bathed and watching the last of the bedtime hour before the fun begins !

I have also had a really sore left nork. I hope it's not a blocked duct but I have been a bit lazy latching G on at night and let him latch and sort it out when he is on IYKWIM. So I have had a shower and massaged it and fed G using the rugby hold and hopefully that will clear it up. I really want to avoid mastitis as that is horrible. Has anyone any advice about what else I could do?

Hugs to you all & hope you have a good evening

minimenace · 13/05/2009 18:32

LOL choco now you come to mention it I have a spare five mins this evening too so would be a good time. glad you are feeling a little better.

cloveofhislife · 13/05/2009 18:47

febes I have so many have you had it calls and texts. It's getting ridiculous! Today has been the worst....

euromum · 13/05/2009 19:00

Ooh I do love a club, thank you detsy I will happily sign up as the second almost-baldy! Did indeed have to look with a mirror but just felt so much better already! I do recall from my last go many years ago that sex was considerably more fun with less hair n the way - and it's been such a long time I almost feel keen to give it a go but I really don't want to do anything to bring this baby on early! Momi yes it did hurt but only in short bursts, more like an intense sting each time. But definitely bearable - even though being pregnant meant it hurt more due to general increased sensitivity. Am impressed that you're considering the strimmer I must say, I wouldn't be able to do it myself. At least when you're paying someone else to do it, you can't wuss out half way through whih is what happened last time I tried waxing my own legs...

Belgian glad to hear you had a good night last night. I hope you get another one tonight and feel more rested before Friday. About the doula, in the end I found one in fact - an American lady who coincidentally organises my local mum+baby coffee mornings. e talked everything through though and decided it probably wouldn't be that helpful for me to use her, as I really wanted someone who could deal with medical staff for me and be treated as a professional by them while 'representng' me (I really shut down in labour last time so am preparing myself to not have to speak to anyone!). Unfortunately my hospital would only accept her being present as my 'friend' and still address any questions etc to me. I also had a really good discussion with my phsio about it, who is part of the team and will be there, and as she is very understanding I gave up on the doula idea and am prepping dh to step in for m as much as possible. If I go for a home birth next time then I will definitely go with the doula though.

But what am I saying - 37.5 weeks pg and conteplating the next time??? Obviously there is some serious hormone-induced insanity going on here... especially as I'm with minimenace, very [envy ]at belgian's goats cheese and soft egg. I want the egg too! And sushi! And some Spanish ham and a selection of strong-smelling soft cheeses and and and.... oh my god I am actually drooling. Have been having that urge to get plastered too and it's been years! Right now would just LOVE a night off the whole pg and kids thing to go out and drink till dawn.

Also at those losing weight with bf. I didn't! Might have been because I was super healthy all the way through being pg with dd, and was so stunned by the appetite increase that I ended up eating way more cake than any sensible person should. Given that his time I've been eating cake non stop anyway, perhaps this time round I'll notice a difference .

Baby wriggling around just behind my belly button, most uncomfortable. Few big and non-comfy tightenings too - don't suppose making dinner will make them go away, but it won't make itself.
