euromum · 13/05/2009 12:20

Haha hello detsy an momino - never thought to cause such curiosity re the waxing! Am indeed no longer a hairy mary , quite the opposite in fact due to a misunderstanding over exactly how much to remove (my french apparently not quite being up to discussing the details of these things!). Am very pleased with myself I must say, it's MUCH better, I might get into doing this regularly. Was slightly freaked out though that the lovely girl doing it said she had a previous client who went into labour straight away afterwards, presumably due to the shock/pain - I am so not ready to give birth yet! Like childbirth though I immediately forgot how much it hurt because I was so pleased with the results, so all round an excellent experience!

I have also been dying to tell someone how pleased I am about it but have been too to mention it to anyone apart from dh, so thank you very much for asking!

chocolatebunnies · 13/05/2009 12:20

Honestly momino it was her tone of voice, she just didnt care at all, she even just put the phone down without saying bye or anything!

detsy · 13/05/2009 12:22

But you do get so many people in customer service industries who are CRAP with people. One of the head sonographers at my hospital is called Mrs Cheer and she is so uncheery its untrue. Have also seen lots of grumpy midwives in the past - if they can't cope with hormonal, upset, worried ladies then they should be doing something else where they don't need to interface with people. IMO pah!

detsy · 13/05/2009 12:26

Euro good on ya babes - welcome to the almost baldy club (think its only you and me in it tho ) I too love the results tho am guessing you had to look with a mirror??!

And, if i recall correctly altho it has been a LONG time it makes sex (erm oral and erm digital...)much more enjoyable as lots more sensitivity without the jungle

Must go and get ready - had this app booked yesterday but forgot and fell asleep - durrr

runningmonkey · 13/05/2009 12:26

Ooh choc if I was nearer I'd be round to give you a hand. big hugs to you. I keep getting pains right at the top of my bump too and mw yesterday said it was prob ligaments too. Its not nice tho is it? Stretching my arms above my head helps a bit its only temporary tho.

Hope all having signs progress soon. I've still to see anything hopeful - do keep getting a few periody pains altho nothing regular. Bump is sitting a lot lower too which prob explains why I can and am eating a lot more

Oh yeah, detsy and momino [boak] at the worms.

detsy · 13/05/2009 12:27

ciao bellas xx

detsy · 13/05/2009 12:28

Worms in custard....

minimenace · 13/05/2009 12:31

clove I think you are right about the round ligament pain - I remember having that a couple of weeks ago too and was really worried about it at the time until my MW reassured me what it was then it disappeared after a couple of days and I have since forgotten all about it. Mine did feel like a burning pain around my bump so hopefully thats what choco is experiencing.

Thanks for the reassurance everyone over the (non) weight gain - no longer concerned

it's not fair there is a clear absence of anything in my knickers.

MW told me yesterday that I was only getting labour pains in the evening as thats when I was most relaxed after DS was asleep in bed so today I am having a relaxing day on the sofa and DS is having a treat of cbeebies - he is normally only allowed to watch the bedtime hour and weather is too miserable to play outside.
hopefully this 'relaxing day' will bring it on since nothing else has worked so far.

Momino · 13/05/2009 12:50

choco, glad you have Madi being looked after, that will take some stress away, can you rest?

euro, I am impressed, did it hurt much? now that i can (almost)see the lady garden area, i;m going to experiment with my strimmer again. no, no, I won't use the lightening bolt stensil even if any of you lot dare me, lol.

off to eat lunch whilst i have window and maybe walk into town. i've not been out much and need some sun.

Febes · 13/05/2009 13:04

I'm baaaccckkkk.
Midwife said that my cervix was coming forward and softening and then booked me in for induction next wed but said I was unlikely to make it till then. It didn't hurt at all but I was quite relaxed and I took paracetamol first thing this morning as my pelvis hurt but that was 3 hours before. I hope that means I am a) relaxed and chilled b) going to have a very easy birth and not c) loose as a goose

I can't remember who said it but I starting to freak out about the birth a bit as well. I have good memories from DD's birth but did have an epidural ( it wsn't 100% effective but took the edge off) I'm worried that I'll find it too much with just gas and air and I haven't hired a tens machine or anything to use at first. Oh well too bloody late now. I'll probably be on my back with an epidural in after induction sometime in July .

Choc at MW why can't they just reaasure and be nice about it even when they have to deal with minor things (to them) as they are major to us. Hugs honey hope you are feeling better.

Bantam Haven't heard from you in a while hope that means you have had Lo if not goodluck for induction tomorrow.

Detsy We are second on the due list now. Do you think that means ANYTHING??? Come on 8th of Mayers. at 48 week story is that true???

sophietom · 13/05/2009 13:28

Hi all- hope those of you suffering early labour niggles get the main event underway soon!
Choc MW sounded very rude- hope you are feeling less stressed now

detsy I'm in Preston is that near you? "It was you that asked wasn't it?" lol at worms and custard- would you like jelly with that?

euro at ladygarden waxing being a possible induction technique- I'll have to book myself in for a wax in 2 weeks time!!!! Ouch!

FiKelly · 13/05/2009 13:42

well back from dropping ds at pre-school and now i have a few hours to myself so having a lovely hot cuppa, an assortment of biscuits and a bit of MN time before i have to go and do the errands... post office, bank, get dog weighed at the vets etc. Even the flooring guys have finished too so i have the flat completely to myself [ignores the drooling stare from dog standing so close he's resting his chin on my knees after a stray biscuit crumb... no chance!]

minimenace · 13/05/2009 14:01

Febes and Detsy I'm an 8th of mayer too really. with my own dates it was impossible that I was any later than that but the hospital sonographer estimated my date as the 12th and I didn't argue it since it gives me more time to get my VBAC.
Which is also why my MW offered to start my sweeps 2 weeks ago. in my own mind I feel 40+5 now.
I was induced at 41+3 last time so who knows what will happen.

FiKelly · 13/05/2009 14:09

well finished cuppa and checked email... i too have just received a 'Welcome to parenthood!' message from the babycentre ;) although it does say a lot further down the page that i may still be waiting on the baby coming and suggesting all the ways to get things going that we've been talking about... lol.

Off to do the errands now and really hoping there's not an enormous queue in the post office...

xoxox

Febes · 13/05/2009 14:51

Welcome on board then Mini We like it here thats why we aren't following flippin to the other side just yet.....

minimenace · 13/05/2009 15:03

My best mate just popped round to see how I am doing with a pressie for me to take to hospital with me.
It's a YSL Touche Eclat - I LOVE it, I have always wanted one and never been able to justify the cost.

Won't I feel good sat in my hospital bed touching up my makeup with my Touche Eclat ... fantastic !!

oops hope I was allowed to say that on here and it won't get scrubbed for breaking some rule or other. I was just so excited I had to tell you - DH just won't understand at all.

Belgianchocolates · 13/05/2009 15:14

Hi everyone,

Just checking in to see if anyone else has had their baby yet. I was convinced there would be an announcement from frazzled, but nothing. I'm sure a few of you wont be long now though, so many false alarms must lead to the real thing soon!

fi I had that message from the babycentre last week and it sort of upset me, because I was still pregnant. That reminds me, I better change my settings over there and enter baby C's b'day.

chocbunnies Hope you're feeling better soon. I had that ligament pain in my 1st pregnancy and it wasn't nice. I happened to be in Belgium and my mum ended up phoning the dr out to see me.

Euromum Are you still interested in finding a Doula? Also v. impressed with the waxing. My own ladygarden is out of control, because I'm too much of a wimp to do it blind or have it done. I wonder what the mw doing my stitches thought? I was her 1st home suturing job, btw. Should I be proud of that

Well, baby C had a v. good night last night. We did end up co-sleeping, she spent about 5 mins in her crib at the very start of the night and that was that . My pelvis is still v. painful when I lie down and going to sit up in the night is v. hard, so I think that'll be the way things are for us for a while. The 1st night we co-slept, but she didn't settle. Last night she fed and then slept a good 3h between feeds, so I had a few 3h stretches. Strangely I feel more tired today than yesterday. I suppose I've got 2 nights' sleep to catch up. Hopefully C will have another good night tonight. Baby C's one of those babies that needs holding. She settles really well with dh, but not all that well with me. I think she's just smelling milk on me and so whenever she wakes a little she thinks she fancies a little snack . I don't mind too much at this stage, because I want her to keep up that good weight and not go jaundiced or anything. That's the paranoid mw part of me talking, because I didn't think like that at all with no1 and 2!

I'm getting a bit worried about friday. DH will have to go back to work and I don't know how I'll get the dcs ready for school. Baby C seems to want feeding about 7.30 too and that's the worst time, because that's when we've got to get up and start getting ready for the day. I've dug out my ring sling, but I can't find my wrap sling anywhere. I'm going to try them out, with a bit of luck I'll get the hang of bf C in a hands free fashion while getting the dcs ready .

Thanks everyone for the lovely comments about baby C.'s picture. I agree she is gorgeously chubby!

Jennster · 13/05/2009 15:21

minim Touche Eclat is fab stuff. I always ask for it for Christmas. Lasts for ages too.

waxing I was waxed last week and have a 'landing strip' but no brazilian. No induction with my wax.

Ha what was I saying about not wanting any 'self induction' from dh? Lucky fella got a lunchtime quickie. Not done that in 12 years.

Fikelly Not a lazy mum. A busy, sensible experienced mum.

detsy · 13/05/2009 15:23

oh febes induction booked for weds - whats that then the 20th? LOL @ loose as a goose comment and glad all is favourable. However you do need to understand that I need to be next not you or Mini

I'm going to see what they say on Friday but am hoping to hang on till 41+7 as started labour naturally at 41+ 6 with lotti...

mini oh goodo another 8th mayer to hang around with for some considerable time (in my case no doubt)

Reflexology was sooo nice - afterwards she pressed the pads of my thumbs for 3 mins each side and I got contractions - supposedly a sure fire way of encouraging them - so will be thumb pressing this evening methinks!

detsy · 13/05/2009 15:29

Second the touche eclat comments - brill stuff

Jennster another baldy club member - hooray!

Off to get my little snuggler from nursery - catch you all later x

Yeah what has happened to bantam not heard from her for ages??

Febes & new member mini - yikes we're second on the list now - OMG

detsy · 13/05/2009 15:31

Sophie sorry forgot to respond to you - Preston is about an hour away I guess - would be near if I was working as work in Trafford Park but live in Sandbach. Howeever prob near enough for us to meet halfway once littles have arrived if you fancy it? Can't remember who else is up there with you, is it Jenn?

Jennster · 13/05/2009 15:33

Oui C'est moi Detsy

Jennster · 13/05/2009 15:43

Catching up with ER, getting cramps again. Now what do I cook for dinner?

Belgianchocolates · 13/05/2009 15:43

That reflexology sounds nice. Doing some 1 handed typing here too.

raspberry leaf tea Appparently it's supposed to make the 2nd stage of labour shorter and reduce bleeding afterwards. I'm bringing this up, because I can report that it's doing exactly that for me. My second stage was extremely short: 10 mins and my bleeding has virtually stopped now and baby C is only 2.5 days old. Isn't that brilliant?

Oh and I also had a v. runny egg sandwich today: YUM. I've ordered some Chevre Blanc to eat now too. When Ocado brings it tomorrow I'll tuck into that for the 1st time since last August! Exciting!
