Hi all,
sorry not really had a chance to catch up yet today. Was feeling a bit down so Mum came over and blitzed my house from top to bottom - It's sparkling now and I feel much better. Eek how lazy am I getting mum to do my nesting for me
DS went crazy when it was time for Grandma to leave though - he thought it was time for him to go on his long awaited holiday at Grandmas house and created merry hell when he realised she was leaving without him. I guess I could have let him go with her but not knowing how much longer I'm going to be waiting isn't fair on mum really.
Sods law dictates she has to come back and pick him up later or tomorrow - but I don't mind that if I get to see sight of the end of this so far 'false' labour thats been on and off all week. arrgggh

runningmonkey · 11/05/2009 16:57

blotted sorry you are feeling so poorly and you have every right to moan as you have been having a really tough time. Good everything went ok at the mw too. I was eyeing up the evening primrose in the cupboard earlier but I'm thinking otherwise now. My friend loves your blog by the way and has tried a few recipes from the other one you recommended too so a big thanks for that.

alapala sounds scary re your DS good they have let you take him home as I'm sure being around his own environment will help him to get better quicker. Not nice for you to have to go through. Hopefully you can get a bit of 'me' time for you to recover to before no 2 arrives.

Just been reading a hilarious thread about stupid/inappropriate things DH's have said during labour. Might print it off for my DH as a little guide

Chocobunnies hope your washing machine gets sorted tomorrow and isn't anything too serious. If it is however, I can recommend Comet's online delivery. We ordered a washing machine one Sat morning and it was delivered by 1pm the next day. Also had a good service when said washing machine was faulty (just one of those things) and they sent a replacement straight away. Fingers crossed yours will get fixed and you won't need any of this but thought it might be useful to know just in case.

hope everyone else is ok and has been enjoying the sunshine today.

runningmonkey · 11/05/2009 17:03

Aah fi bet you're really pleased there's no sign of the pre-e this time. No advice on the back pain although I set off some scrubbing the bathroom floor this morning which was comign and going but has now subsided, am presuming this was BH's

mini sorry you are feeling down but yay for Mums. Mine did wonders in my garden last week and I can now sit out there without feeling annoyed by all the weeding, etc that needed doing and I just couldn't manage.

My bump has been going crazy this afternoon, really active wave like movements all over the place. Am just hoping it hasn't popped up (doesn't really feeling like it) or turned around. Guess I'll find out tomorrow at mw appt tho.

pulapula · 11/05/2009 17:39

Afternoon ladies, back from my pre-op.

So my "slot" is 2.30pm tomorrow (2nd of the afternoon) and have to go in around 11am. Quite civilised except that it means i must have my breakfast at 5.30am , antacid at 6am, then nil by mouth. I am absolutely ravenous at the moment so i will find it hard.

Then hopefully out of theatre by 4pm, to recovery, and DH will go and collect the kids from nursery before 6pm so they can come and see us (if we are both in a good enough condition!). Might be able to eat again in the evening (I hope so!).

The only negatives are 1) unlikely to get my own room 2) i have to remove my nail varnish from my expensive pedicure, so that's a job for DH as I can't reach. Also need to get DH to shave my scar area tonight too- he's not very keen.

So if I'm on MN tomorrow around 5.30 you will know why i'm up!

sausagenmash · 11/05/2009 17:56

Hello - NEWSFLASH ALERTDandy has had her baby! Just got a text (and I have full permission to announce here!)

Hector Frank was born at 1.25 today weighing 6lbs 9oz. Had to have an emergency section, but is ok - baby is beautiful and is totally well! Hurrah! [smile}

Momino · 11/05/2009 17:57

pula, good luck! we'll be thinking of you and can't wait to hear the good news. xx

Oops wasn't very good at the bold-ing and emoticons there - too excited!

minimenace · 11/05/2009 17:57

Good luck tomorrow pula how exciting, this time tomorrow you will definately be cuddling your LO.
I find it strange they get you to remove your nail varnish though - when I had my emergency CS last time I had eaten only a couple of hours before and the most they asked me to remove was my earings and necklace. I refused to remove my wedding ring (since I haven't taken it off since my wedding day) and they covered that with a plaster.
Luckily I had shaved down below already so my scar is quite low. But they certainly didn't have time for me to remove any finger nail or toenail varnish I was wearing.

I got DH to do my shaving last time but have not been able to let him near shaving my scar and have been managing okay with a mirror this time.

sausagenmash · 11/05/2009 17:58

All the best for tomorrow, Pula - hope it all goes well!

emmabemmasmom · 11/05/2009 18:03

Dandy Yeah!!! Hope you are both doing well Congratulations on your little bundle of joy!

DH just asked what was going on in the world on MN...I said nothing much, were all just crabby and annoyed but no babies lol Then I refreshed and saw the news!

Been feeling really weird today. Soooooo tired and getting pains...not period pains or contractions...just pressure and uncomfortable pain.

How did everyone else feel before they went into labour? Last time I felt great and had so much energy the day it happened...

Off to run DD's bath...Oh that sounds nice...maybe I will get in with her lol

CoteDAzur · 11/05/2009 18:11

Congratulations Belgian! Well done

Pulapula - Good luck for tomorrow. I remember reading somewhere that they ask for nail polish to be removed because under GA it is from the color of the nails that they check if you are getting enough oxygen.

CoteDAzur · 11/05/2009 18:12

re shaving

Are we supposed to go to CS with a hairless area, then? I thought they would shave whatever they needed to right there and then, like they did with the episiotomy.

LoobyLou36 · 11/05/2009 18:15

congratulations dandy and belgianchoc

will have to put my birth story on here - v. of all your short labours

LoobyLou36 · 11/05/2009 18:16

went back to the docs today and am now on second week of antibiotics for infection in cs wound - fingers crossed this sort will work

minimenace · 11/05/2009 18:36

Has anyone got a contraction monitor on their iPhone ? ... DH has found a couple and trying to decide which one to download .. lol
I guess it will give him something to do (play with) while I am having contractions, that is if and when eventually they are real.

minimenace · 11/05/2009 18:45

Oh ... where did my message for dandy go ...
Anyway YAY congratulations Dandy fantastic news. Lovely name, hope you aren't to sore from the CS and hope you are up and about very soon.

Cote thanks for clearing that up with the nail varnish thing I guess it is because I didn't have a GA and had my CS with the epidural. Fairly sure I don't remember the anesthetist checking my nails during the CS.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 11/05/2009 18:52

Excited squeaks to Dandy, hope you're both ok!

Pula perhaps you have to shave because the surgeon/consultant is a perv? I hope everything goes well tomorrow, I will cross whatever I can cross (not very much).

Loobs so sorry you're still on ab's, I hope your recovery gains momentum, I bet it's worth it when you look at Matilda though!

Daizydoo I don't think I congratulated you either, sorry!

Minimenace send your mum over to me purleeeeeeease?????

Blotted Hope you're ok now, I'd actually stopped posting for a few days because I was being such a miserable cow - you're not, don't worry! You're just having a crappy, crappy time - I'm just a whingebag!!! I will definitely not be shovelling fistfuls of Evening Primrose up my muff...........

Alapala Your poor little DS, I hope he's ok

Anyone I've forgotten, I'm so sorry, so I'll just wave at everyone.

I'm off now to wonder where the fuck DH is and why it always takes him at least 1.5 hours to get home, when it should take 20 minutes

Febes · 11/05/2009 18:57

Dandy Congrats on the birth of baby Hector!! I'm very of his early arrival. I hope it was too dramatic and you are feeling ok. I can't wait to hear more details.

Febes · 11/05/2009 18:58

Sorry that was meant to say I hope it wasn't too dramatic.

Febes · 11/05/2009 19:00

Pula good luck for tomorrow honey. Make sure you rebook your pedicure for a few weeks time

runningmonkey · 11/05/2009 19:01

Yay Dandy congrats

all the best for tomorrow pula will be thinking of you.

looby sorry to hear you are still suffering, hope the 2nd round of antib's work.

mini my DH has been doing the same - he thinks the one called 'babytime' looks the best, had the best reviews apparently. although the name made us both snigger as it made me think of 'chico time' from x factor

cote are you still in hospital? How are you doing?

All this talk of shaving has made me think I should do something about my untamed ladygarden time to get the strimmer out I think although could be quite interesting in terms of reaching.

pulapula · 11/05/2009 19:11

Congrats Dandy- sorry to hear you had to have an emcs as i know you really wanted to avoid it.

They said to shave above/below my scar as this reduces the risk of infection. Last time they said they could do it just before theatre so i assume they will do yours cote.

I did wonder why i needed to remove the nail varnish so thanks for explaining. I dont have any varnish remover, but think i'll have a little trip out tomorrow morning to get some as i need some trashy mags to take my mind off things whilst i wait.

pulapula · 11/05/2009 19:14

Thanks for all the good wishes for tomorrow. I am surprisingly calm! Good luck Cote too- funny to think we'll both be going through this together.

FiKelly · 11/05/2009 19:22

yay dandy many congratulations on hector frank. hope your em cs wasn't too stressful and glad to hear you're both well. make sure you get lots of help and take the pain killers when you need them. xoxox

FiKelly · 11/05/2009 19:30

pulapula meant to say all the best for tomorrow and if I'm awake again at 5am I'll log on and join you for breakfast

still got the niggly back n bum pain/ache so heading off for a bath now ds is asleep. hoping bath eases it as can't get comfy
