Can you tell me your bedtime routines please?

We're going to start DS2 in a routine now as he will be going to his room in a month or so. At the minute he goes to bed with us so that he gets some time to play on the floor without being force fed cakes/jumped on/have cars driven over him/have DS1 trying to kiss him all the time/being used as a goalpost. But now he spends most of the time after his 7pm bottle asleep either on one of us or the floor. So looking for tips really.

Diege · 20/05/2009 13:02

Doula just gone - certainly getting my money's worth time wise! Paid deposit today, so feel it's really happening .
Many congrats to MIM!!!! Spooky about weight, time etc . Will look forward to hearing all about the birth. Hey does that mean I'm next?? Or have I forgotten someone ?? OMG surely it's not syndicate time for me yet??
MOOS, soem great advice there for Nat. As you say, if you've been with a 'controller' you can spot the signs immediately, and sadly they're aren;t any I know who've changed. Hoping you're ok Nat if you're out there!
KAYZ, re: night time routine, from memory I always made sure dds had a short nap around 4ish, so that they wouldn;t fall asleep immediately after 7pm bottle. I'd then make sure they were awake going into cot, and leave to 'self-soothe'. Usually worked tbh, though can;t from memory think where we fitted the bath in! (possibly after nap).
GLASK, think you have all bases covered re: clothes for Sat! Must check out the forcast!

Kayzr · 20/05/2009 13:04

Still not sure what I am having on Saturday. Trying to think of my diet.

glaskham · 20/05/2009 13:25

Diege- think you are next- get that syndicate going woman!!.... feel a litle left out that i never got to have one!!

Diege- dont believe the forcast- it always does the opposite to the forcast whenever i check it!!

Just had lunch- and i'm wanting my tea already- i'm making lamb hotpot with red cabbage- one of my old time faves... i use my grandma's recipie (which is the same as every other recipie i've seen for it but its my grandma's all the same) but i never get it to taste just like hers!! Still nice though!!

glaskham · 20/05/2009 13:35

Kayz- we dont yet have a bedtime routine, but once she's big enough for her cot (or if i can get a baby monitor before then) she'll be going to bed at 7ish...

Currently she'll go to sleep on her own in her pram carrycot like she would if i put her to bed in her moses basket. We tend to have tea with the kids at 5.30ish, Ruby will normally feed between 5 and 6pm, then its bathtime (every other day normally) then DH will get the kids dressed for bed and its a glass of milk before DH takes the older 2 up to bed while i feed rub again and place her in the carrycot awake and she'll be asleep within a few mins. Then when we go up to bed (anywhere from 9-10pm normally) i'll change her bum and feed her then put her into her moses basket awake and she'll go to sleep then.

When i start putting her to bed alone i'll just put her upstairs from her 7pm feed and still wake her at 10ish when i go to bed so she sleeps through longer, i plan to put her into her cot at around 10lb's, so maybe about 6mths old or so... hopefully when she's a bit bigger she'll start to go longer from that last feed and i can start broinging the time forward till she's going from 7pm till an early morning feed, then drop the early hours feed a few weeks later (saying she's like the other 2 on feeding)

lastboxoftampons · 20/05/2009 13:40

Haven't had time for a proper catch-up, but congrats to MINM!!!! And another wagon BOY!!!! We're taking over now with more to come!!

Diege you're up!

Have tidied it up in date order.... and i'm very exited- i think i'm buying a quinny buzz!!

Kayzr · 20/05/2009 14:28

Don't mention pushchairs!! I said to DH that I think sometimes that a nice new bee or luna pushchair with a buggy board would have been easier because DS1 loves walking now.

Kayzr · 20/05/2009 14:33

Have you seen this?? it looks like so much fun!!

glaskham · 20/05/2009 14:42

wow- that really does look fun!! She's not replying to me yet- i sooooo desperatley want to buy it, but need to check i can collect and pay cash!! Its only been listed for about 45mins!! i saw it about 2mins after she'd listed it!!

glaskham · 20/05/2009 14:43

haha- i've just bought it!!!!

Kayzr · 20/05/2009 14:44

Yay!!!!!!!!!

I have decided I really want an orange Luna. DH says no way!! But as we're planning a 3rd in the future I suppose the P&T is good but DS2 will be almost 3 by then.

glaskham · 20/05/2009 14:47

wuhoo- i'm picking my buzz up this evening!! I'm so exited!! I promised DH i'd only stick to the 2 prams for DD2.... think i'm getting into old habits already- though i'm not getting rid of my luna- i love that to bits too!!

glaskham · 20/05/2009 14:48

aww- if i were selling my luna you could have had mine!!

lardybump · 20/05/2009 14:57

DD keeps laughing at my glasses, she has never seen me wearing glasses.... Is it normal for them to be making me feel abit lightheaded? Never worn them before...

glaskham · 20/05/2009 15:05

IIRC when i first started wearing mine i was a bit light headed for a few days while getting used to them... But if it lasts longer than that i'd say go back and check its ok/normal...

Kayzr · 20/05/2009 15:08

Agree with Glask. But then again I have never had glasses, but remember my brother complaining of it. I so wanted glasses when I was a teenager, I remember being so annoyed when the optican said I had perfect vision.

I have just jumped the last 3 stairs by putting my hands on the handrails and jumping down. It made a huge creak!! Must remember I am not 7 anymore!!
