soooo tired. yawnnnnn! had 3 nights in which there were at least 4 hours of unbroken sleep. i knew it couldn't last . H keeps 'snacking', falling asleep at the breast so happily put her down only to be woken 15 min later by yelling baby. changed her, doesn't settle, she just starts rooting again. oh well. will try to eep her awake more in the day today.

mini, hope you're ok and getting rest.

pulapula · 06/05/2009 07:00

Morning all

minimenace and detsy - just wondering if things have progressed for you? exciting.

momino- sorry to hear that H has decided she doesn't want to sleep at night- let's hope she changed her mind after your post at 2am.

I slept from maybe 11.30 to 5.45 which was pretty good for me. Didnt help that i fell asleep with the TV on (DH was away) so when i woke, i just started listening to it when i might have fallen back asleep otherwise.

pulapula · 06/05/2009 07:04

dandylioness- there was a feature on the bbc breakfast news this morning about primary schools being over subscribed. There's an organisation who offer help to parents wanting to launch appeals etc. They said there should be a link from the bbc website and some info on there. Dont suppose you are in Southark, as that was one of the areas specifically mentioned as being oversubscribed.

Reggiee · 06/05/2009 08:13

Tummum what a really lovely story. It sounds bliss - well done!

1st Mrs F - many congrats! I can't believe their weights - brilliant.

Happy labour vibes to Detsy. Can't wait for the next announcement.

Momino hope you get a lie in this morning. I'm about to have an hour now on the sofa.

Hope time isn't dragging for the rest of you, and have a good Wednesday.

detsy · 06/05/2009 08:30

Aaarrrghh woke up at 5am feeling a bit squelchy down below and incredible pains in lower abdo area - could hardly stand to go for a wee. Dp was all sleepy until I went 'ooooh' and he shot up and was 'what, what!' and I said 'ooooh' again. He looked very frightened. Went and did my wee and came back to bed and fell back to sleep. No idea what the squelch was (my imagination probably) and dunno about the pain. I don't need wake up calls like that!!! Bloody scared us though!

Ooooh 1stMrsF - what fantastic news! Brilliant weights for twins, and what beautiful names! Am so, so pleased for you - can't wait to see the pics!

Momino - lovely pics on fb of H!

Am up as pram is being delivered between 7am and 2pm - harumpf (as Dandy says!) - bet it comes at 1.45.... la la la, where is it...

Got a text from my Mum in Hong Kong (actually am getting daily updates, and wanting to know if there is any 'goss') - one of their old friends (we used to live there yonks ago) has given them a wedding present for me and dp (even though wedding isn't till October)... apparently its from a v well known swanky shop, specialising in little turquoise blue boxes with white ribbon!! Blimey!

Went into White Company in Bluewater yesterday. Want everything in there. Bah. Came out with present for a friend. I don't think I've EVER got myself anything in there - I'd probably ruin it straight away!

Come on, Detsy!

Blottedcopybook · 06/05/2009 08:43

Morning all!

I had my consultant review yesterday. I think I love my consultant, she made all the right noises and said all the right things. I wasn't expecting to be whisked into hospital today because I'm not 37 weeks until Thursday but I did think I'd maybe be in at the start of next week. Unfortunately the baby's head is still completely free so (quite rightly) the consultant won't bring me in because the risk of c-section is too high.

What we've decided is that as soon as the baby's head is settled into my pelvis we'll go for induction. I'm going to be reviewed on a weekly basis from now until my due date, but they won't let me go past my dates.

All in, I feel pretty relieved. I would have preferred a firm, "This is the date you're coming in" but I've at least got the support from the consultant to get this over and done with.

I can't quite get over how much pain I've been in the last couple of days though. It's been absolutely relentless, I have barely been able to walk without crying in pain plus today I have the DCs all day by myself. I really hope they're happy to sit and colour in all day

I'm off to catch up with individual comments now. Sorry about the me, me, me post.

rosielady · 06/05/2009 09:00

Tumm - thanks for posting your birthing story - beautiful and very reassuring.

1stMrs congratulations on the safe arrival of your twins - well done, well done, well done!

Emmab sorry i didnt go online yesterday as 1st proper day of ML i went shopping all day and then tired myself out so spent the evening lazing in bed. Sorry you have had a tummy bug and feeling rubbish - I am happy to leave it til next week if you want - say Tuesday? it will give you time to rest up - if that is not too late for you?- i am happy to come to you btw - i can bring the cake!

minimenace · 06/05/2009 09:03

Morning all...

Dandy you were so right, They went on for a couple of hours I was just laying in bed listening to hypno CD and then just drifted off to sleep.

Nothing this morning, just some dull aches and feel a bit tight but otherwise nothing like last night. Also woke up starving !!

Guess I will find out more at the scan tomorrow - least then I will be sure I'm not breech.

hey detsy good luck - hope you get more movement today.

bantam73 · 06/05/2009 09:12

Morning everyone

I was feeling abit down this morning laying in bed thinking about been 6 days late and that this baby will have to be induced in hospital next week, not born at home like we want.
DH cheered me up (ooooohhhhhh), half an hour later I had some blood loss and aches, more than a show. Nothing else will happen but I'm getting excited.......

Tummum · 06/05/2009 09:12

Morning all

MrsF congratulations. Sounds like you are doing really really well

Monimo / Mini no milk here either getting 1-2 hours sleep a night + looking after DC = me getting stressy (and v. v. sore nips) ! Had amusing projectile poo moment at 3am where I was changing G's bum and he let one rip. The was poo dripping off the wall!! Looking fwd to being peed in the face too

All this new baby lark is making me realise how fecking crap unused to looking after DC my DH is. He keeps wandering around saying how tired he is when I am the one doing all the night stuff. Men, wimps eh??

Tummum · 06/05/2009 09:14

Mini sorry wrong name check... sleep addled brain

Blotted sounds so horrible being in that much pain. At least there is light at the end of the tunnel.

aquababe · 06/05/2009 09:20

Ethan 8lb 6

emmabemmasmom · 06/05/2009 09:25

dandy Your DD school situation seems dreadful! Hope you get it sorted soon as you don't need the extra stress.

minimenace I hope your scan goes well tomorrow. What is going on with all these possible breech babies! I am sure everything is fine and it was just a weird fluke...try not to worry until you have had your scan. Easier said than done, I know

Tummum Oh your story made me cry! I am so happy it went so well for you! I hope I have one just like that lol I am inspired by the no pushing and no tears lol Way to go! Enjoy your baby

1stMrsF Congrats on your two baby girls! You should be proud Enjoy your little ones and glad you are home now and able to relax in familiar surroundings.

My HB stuff came yesterday which is great! They called though and said they don't have cover until Monday at 7am, so I am not officially 'on call' until then. My FIL is away now on holiday anyway so I am praying the baby does not make an apperance until he is back on Wednesday next week. I have been so stressed about it and I don't need it. I just don't have anyone else for DD that I trust. Oh well, I am sure it will all fall into place.

I have a MW appointment tomorrow. DH is taking the day off work to come. He is so excited...more so about the day off lol nice though to have some time together before we are no longer 3.

For the first time I had to leave a trolley full of food at the store and leave when DD decided to have a melt down in the frozen veg isle. That was not fun...
Then I took her to the library as I wanted to stock up on good reads before baby comes, and she was not letting this girl sit and colour with her (by trying to push her) so we had to leave there too amid huge tears...
She seems to be in a much better mood today thank god so hope we can manage to get the house clean (she helps to dust...so cute!) and then have some mommy DD time with a movie

OK hand hurting from giant post. Felt bad not posting yesterday except about me me me Hope everyone I didn't mention is doing well!!!

Blottedcopybook · 06/05/2009 09:26

Jesus, epic post ahead!

Jennster I love lemon drizzle cake! There's a more specific recipe for that on my blog as well which I think makes a slightly lighter cake than the jaffa cakecakecake. Ooooohhh now I'm really in the mood for cake! Also, I nearly wet myself at 'Fucker' - what is her name?!

saus If it's any consolation my DS1 had to go to SCBU for a little while after he was born and it was scary, but you how rare it is for a baby to be born unwell and nobody expecting it. The stage we're at now you've got a pretty much fully cooked LO in there and it's statistically most likely that you're going to be 100% fine. Chin up my love xx

Llare Good to hear you sounding so chilled out! I co-slept with all of mine too and when you're breastfeeding it's just so much easier! When I had DS1 they still had nursery nurses on the ward, and one of them showed me how to get him latched on whilst I was lying down and I honestly could kiss her now. That is the only reason I've breastfed three DCs so far and stayed relatively sane!

Also, exercise-wise. If I were you, I'd honestly give it a couple of weeks purely because you're still bleeding. With DD I felt fantastic after her birth (actually drove myself home just hours after having her) but we went out for the day that weekend and by the end of the day I was nearly passing out and my lochia had got really heavy. Play it by ear but listen to your body.

Belgian You poor love, how are you feeling today?

Febes I've heard that rogue bra wires can stop washing machines spinning? (Ah, just seen that it was DD!)

Grumpy It's ok, me and my kittens aren't offended I promise ;) Two of them are ginger and DH seems to think we're going to struggle to get rid of them which is just a crying shame... I said we should keep one since they were born on DDs birthday but he's having none of it.

Apparently DS1 told his teachers in graphic detail about watching the kittens being born and how we had to tie off the umbilical cords and cut away the placenta. Lucky teacher! I hope she's not squeamish.

Momino Cake sounds yummy! I'm definitely an advocate for cake and tea whilst breastfeeding. Mum has to keep her energy up too! Saw your post about Harper's latch and falling asleep - is she jaundiced? If so that could be contributing to her falling asleep. Rubbing her ears between your fingers or playing with her toes might encourage her to wake up - I had to do that with DD every feed for the first week or so.

Jael Good to hear you're home, big hugs for you and I hope you're feeling better soon

Reggiee Tongue tie will definitely be what's causing your nipple pain, poor you. Hope it gets sorted quickly for you both

Ses Oh no! Good luck with your scan.

Alapala How's your DS today, poor sausage? Ear infections are just the worst for tiny tots aren't they?

Cote I don't understand, why would you take antibiotics if there's no infection? Antibiotics are really powerful medication, they wipe out the good bacteria as well as the bad - I'm not sure why you'd want to damage your immune system 'just in case'

Helen Don't worry! I don't think anyone expects everyone to keep up once baby is here - it's a whole other ballgame! How's R getting on now?

Euromum Have a hug for you too

Dandy I'd have been dead on my feet if I'd had a day like yours yesterday. Can you take a day at the weekend just for you?

Detsy Well done you on your basket liners! Good to hear that things are progressing for you too, how exciting!

Frazz Missed you! Hope you're feeling a bit chirpier today

Minimenace Awwww what a nightmare How is your foot? The loose bowel thing was how my labour kicked off with DS1 but he was my only natural labour, sorry to hear it didn't come to anything for you.

Tummum I can't believe you were making a cake whilst in labour! Well done you though, your birth story sounds amazing

1stMrsF CONGRATULATIONS!! I can't wait to see pictures, what fantastic names (and weights!)

Aquababe Congratulations!

rosielady · 06/05/2009 09:29

Aquababe - many congratulations!! shortest post ever - I am sure we will hear the details in due course. Ethan is lovely name too.

Emmab i've been on facebook and put my mobile on it and took note of yours - so we can hopefully make an arrangement for a meet up - sooner rather than later!

emmabemmasmom · 06/05/2009 09:29

Rosie x post! Oh it is ok, no worries I am feeling oh so much better today. Managed to eat yesterday and sleep all night...bliss.

Tuesday sounds great to me! I don't have any plans lol Not going out much now anyway as I can't walk much and am terrified of something happening when out alone with DD. More than welcome to come here anytime

Hope it works out!

SesIsNowCountingdownthedays · 06/05/2009 09:41

Blotted - well done on marathon catch up!

aquababe - congrats

Frazz - hope all goes ok with scan. Thinking of you.

Sorry to run but British Gas just turned up re fixing boiler!

llareggub · 06/05/2009 10:17

More babies! Yay!!

Congratulations The1stMrsF! Such beautiful names. I can't wait to see pictures.

and aquababe congratulations to you too.

I hope I haven't missed anyone.

Blotted you are right. I am feeling so chilled with this baby. I was far too scared and paranoid to co-sleep with DS1 but I feel fine with this one. Our kingsize bed and super firm mattress helps too, as is a realisation that I really, really need my sleep to deal with life.

To all those having aches and pains....I am sending lots of good labour vibes your way.

Dandy I do hope things resolve themselves schoolwise for you all soon. How clever and bright your DD sounds, too.

DS is out in nursery, and I was just about to get into the shower when I realised the water is really cold. It looks like DS has been "fixing" things again as the thermostat was turned right down to 20 degrees and his little toolkit was left by the side. Bless him!

I've got to find a birthday present for DH by Saturday and I really can't be bothered to traipse to the shops! Perhaps I should bake a cake and give him an IOU present...

Febes · 06/05/2009 10:32

llareggub- You sound so chilled and happy with baby George. Glad to hear things are going well.

Aquababe Congrats love Ethan for a name. Can't wait to hear more once you've had a rest.

Detsy Mini I was expecting big things from you girls!!!!Maybe tonight is the night???

Bantum Sounds like things are staring to happen. I wss 7 days over with DD so I know how you feel.

Well I have had a very busy morning with DD she woke at 6.30am with a biiiiiigg poo in her nappy so defo teething but at least she is in good humour I can handle the early starts and poo as long she doesn't whinge all day. I made playdough this morning so we played with that for a while. She kept trying to eat it though. I must look for some kiddy baking utensils next time I go car booting. DH at work until 8 pm tonight so I'm on my own all day but feeling ok and had an ok night last night. I'm not going to do too much today.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 06/05/2009 10:50

Morning all! Mini-rant alert

Got up this morning after another awful night (think it may have been Dandy who mentioned hay-fever - I think I've got hay-fever on top of my cold - DD1 woke up with swollen eyes, she's very hay-feverish) to find that the dog had done both an enormous dump and a massive pee on the kitchen floor. So, back creaking, pelvis clicking, I got down on my hands and knees and cleaned up. Then got the mop out and paggered myself some more.

Got back about 30 mins ago from dropping DD2 off at Nursery and then doing shopping, so even more aches and pains and still hadn't had my breakfast. Not only had the dog got into the bathroom and torn a sponge to shreds EVERYWHERE, she had then peed in the kitchen AGAIN. I was fucking furious and dragged her (not violently, I hasten to add) into the garden and shut her out for 30 minutes. It's not raining, it's not cold so she was fine. But, now I'm feeling guilty. She's sitting in her basket, eyes lasering into me, creaking the wicker in her basket so I'm more than a little aware of her presence (it makes me when she does this).

Bloody hound of hell/mutt. Can't understand why she's done this.

Blotted Ginger kittens have always been a favourite of mine - only ever had one ginger cat, he was the size of a small horse and unbelievably beautiful . And I second the lemon drizzle cake, there will be one made here today, we've just finished the previous one! Also, cookies and flapjacks and cheese scones and some form of chocolate cake will be made. It's baking day.

Oh and I am making lasagne, chilli, curry and casserole to be stashed in freezer. All by 14.30 . Taking on a bit too much do we think?

Congrats Aquababe, Momi, Harper is beautiful , chin up dets, minimenace chin up too duck!!!!! Frazz same goes for you and I think I'll extend that to everyone, we're all cheesed off!!!!

Dandy no I'm not a huggy person but sometimes even an ironic hug is just what you need!! Good luck with the schools, I think you're amazing for all the traipsing around you've had to do and you haven't poked anyone in the eye with a protractor yet!!!

I'll have missed some people I'm sure, sorry! Off to stroke the dog now (she's doing some heavy sighing whilst staring at me) and start on gargantuan Jacobean banquet style cooking bonanza. Or possibly a cup of tea and a Breakaway biscuit

sausagenmash · 06/05/2009 10:52

Congrats aquababe - looking forward to hearing more about it all!

Got my HiPG dosh in the bank today! Hurrah! That's my pram paid off! (talking of which, where the bloody hell is it?!)

Blotted - thanks for the encouragement - I know I'm being completely bonkers, but I do think that the more 'in the know' about stuff you are, you tend to be a bit more worried about it. Plus I am a huge pessimist. Gah.

Wonder how bantam is doing...
