Belgianchocolates · 05/05/2009 14:45

Not your weight gain obviously, G's weight gain!

Momino · 05/05/2009 14:45

llare, well done on the weight gain! well off to eat some apricot muffin cake which was dropped off by a kind friend yesterday. I'm sure it's good for breastfeeding .

Belgianchocolates · 05/05/2009 15:08

Apricot muffin cake.... mmmmmm sounds good. I want some cake too...

minimenace · 05/05/2009 15:17

Llare Well done on the feeding and the wieght gain fab news. Glad to hear you had a good night too.

I just popped in quick as off for my sweep shortly - hoping for some better news this week and just really hoping my cervix has moved into a better position for her to reach.

On my own dates I am actually due this week so wishing I'm more right than the scan or will have a much longer wait. arrrgggh - Still, that gives me longer chance to get my VBAC I suppose.

Well done all you cake makers I am impressed at all this baking that is going on with this thread. I daren't even attempt anything right now I've been so clumsy lately I'm dangerous

Jael · 05/05/2009 15:23

Hiya ladies.

Just popping on to say Congratulations to all the new arrivls!

They let me out at 4pm Sunday, but I'm not doing too good, I'm currently bedridden, MW had to be called out today as DP almost had to phone an ambulance last night I was in that much pain with my CS scar. MW thinks I may have an infection, so I'm currently not allowed out of bed, I'm having to have Jacob passed to me for cuddles etc as I am in ALOT of pain! I'll try get back on in a couple of days, hopefully i'll feel abit better then.

Love to you all XX

Belgianchocolates · 05/05/2009 15:28

Hello Jael You poor thing. I hope you'll get better soon. Hopefully some more pain relief and anti-biotics will sort you out. Also hope your migraines have stopped now. All the best

Reggiee · 05/05/2009 15:34

Jael so sorry to hear your cs is giving you grief. Make sure you rest - Mr Jael can read the MN thread to you

Just back from clinic with Ben. He has a tongue tie - does anyone have experience of this? They are not happy with his weight gain (up 3oz in a week) and think it is due to his tongue tie. Hoping to get it snipped next week (serves me right for happy post yesterday). Wonder if this is why I also have painful left nip despite seemingly good latch. Oh and I also had the most frightening outpouring of lochia this afternoon (soaking one towel and filling the loo - gross) despite minimal lochia for the past 4 days. Luckily this was just before clinic visit so they were able to check me over and reassure me.

pulapula · 05/05/2009 15:51

Jael- sorry to hear your scar is causing such pain. Make the most of the rest and hope the infection clears soon.

emmabemmasmom- when i saw your post about being in hospital i thought i was too late with the TENS- sorry to hear you haven't been well and that LO has been causing some worries- hope you feel better soon. I've posted the TENS 1st class recorded today so hopefully it will be with you tomorrow or Thurs at the latest. If anything is unclear, just message me on facebook, but there are instructions and spares for everything (battery, leads, sticky pads)- just thought- i didn't test it before i sent it! Guess you could switch it on and just check it lights up, but you aren't meant to use it properly til after 37 weeks (not sure how far you are).

SesIsNowCountingdownthedays · 05/05/2009 15:55

Back from MW and head is spinning and don't really know what to think or where I'm at...

I told her that I'd been wondering about the position of the baby and that I'd been getting quite a bit of groin pain down the inside of the tops of my thighs and she had a feel around. She wants me to have a presentation scan as she thinks the baby may be oblique/breech. The soonest they can fit me in is Thursday morning at 11am but she's going to try and persuade them to squeeze me in before that so I'm waiting for her to phone me.

She says she could be wrong and it could be head down but it also still feels quite mobile. The heart rate was quite up and down as it was moving around whilst she was prodding. She said if it's transverse they may keep me in and monitor and decide to do CS and if it's breech they may decide to try and move it.

Am now home sitting on my gym ball in the hope that will help. I was quite happy waiting for labour pains (although hopefully not prolonged!) in about 10 days but now my head is trying to get round the fact that I might have to have a CS by the end of the week! Then again I may not!!!

AAARRRRRGGGHGHH!!

(Sorry - will go and catch up on everyone else now...)

SesIsNowCountingdownthedays · 05/05/2009 16:00

Regiee - a naive first timer here but I'd have thought a weight gain of 3oz in the week was good I know tongue tie can affect their latch but now it has been identified getting it snipped is meant to be quite straight forward and remarkably pain free for them.

Jael - that must be so frustrating. Hope they manage to sort out your scar quickly.

minimenace - good luck for your sweep!

Grumpy - not suprised you're feeling pissed off. Hope that cold clears off and you start to feel better soon.

bantam73 · 05/05/2009 16:09

Hi everyone

I'm over due now and waiting.........

Booked in for a sweep on friday if that fails we will be induced on 13th/14th.

MW measured me again yesterday and we have grown 1cm in the passed week so now we are 47cm

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 05/05/2009 16:20

So sorry for earlier post , have had several hugs and kisses from DD2 (who is currently tap-dancing in the rather spiffing silver tap shoes I got her from Ebay) and a nice argument with DD1, who is being mardy because I said no to her mate coming round. Bloody pre-pubescent/getting quite pubescent pre-teens.

llare great news about G's weight gain!
Jael Big hugs (but not near your scar), that sounds painful, hope any infection clears up soon
Reggiee Tongue-tie snippage - hope it goes ok
Ses - Hope everything is ok whichever way round the baby is
Belgian SPD really gets you down after a while, doesn't it. Takes all the pleasure out of doing anything, I am hoping your LO arrives soon for you (and your mum!!)
momi Glad people are looking after you!!

Everyone else, hello!!!

Someone said they weren't of all the babies arriving, I must admit I am but only because, like Belgian and a few others, I'm plagued by SPD, which is just more and more painful. I'm only 37+, almost 38 weeks, but feel ready for the baby sooner rather than later - I was 42+ weeks with DD2 and had SPD and that was just horrendous.

Off to play on DD2's DS for a bit!!!! What shall it be, Peppa Pig, Dora, Gardening Mama or Big Brain Academy???

More BH's - gaaaaaaaah!

Febes · 05/05/2009 16:26

Ses They thought I was trans/ breech about 10 days ago but scan showed head down so hope the same for you.

Grumpy/ Belgian- Sorry you are feeling grotty not long now...

Reggie a gain is a gain at this point so I'm sure Ben is fine although it will be good to sort the tongue tie out to see if that helps. Don't get dishearted though.

I am sooooooooooo tired.

sophietom · 05/05/2009 16:27

jennster I was wondering where you were- thought maybe your baby was on it's way, but I'm sure it won't be long for you now! If you fancy meeting up for a coffee any time let me know

jael you poor thing- hope you are feeling better soon. Get lot's of rest and cuddles with Jacob

Ses hope you get an earlier scan- fingers crossed baby gets into position for you!

Tomorrow I tackle the jaffa cakecakecake...

Febes · 05/05/2009 16:29

Jael- big hugs you've had a heck of a few weeks.

pulapula · 05/05/2009 16:31

Wow Bantam that's a good sized bump - 47cm. I measured 35cm on Fri at 36+4 weeks and i have difficulty putting shoes on and stuff.

belgian- i'm sorry you are still waiting for your LO to arrive and feel bad about your mum going home soon. You just have to think that you've done all you could to bring things on more quickly, and at least Belgium isn't too far for your mum to come back again in the near future. A friend of mine has a sister living in Beijing and her mum had to decide when to visit as she wanted to be there for when the baby arrived. Baby was a week late i think, which wasn't bad for first baby, so she did get to see the baby for a week i think, but i'm sure my friend's sister was getting fed up of waiting too.

Febes · 05/05/2009 16:33

I am making fish pie for dinner tonight but I can't be bothered starting. But I have too as fish needs to be cooked or it will spoil and I know it will be yummy once made.

Motivate me. What are you guys doing for dinner???

pulapula · 05/05/2009 16:36

belgianchocs - just reading my post back, and hope it didn't sound a bit flippant and insensitive. I know you are in a lot of SPD pain, and your mum wants your baby out soon too which is an added pressure- i think i was just trying to say that you can't tell when these things will happen and family visits might not fit into baby's schedule, and I hope for you it does happen soon.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 05/05/2009 16:39

Febes The girls are having jacket spuds with copious quantities of butter and cheese (I can manager to prick a couple of spuds and grate some cheese) - they're just baking away in the oven now. Dh and I are having chicken fajitas later, at his request. I will be pondering my spices later for them. Why we can't just have spuds too....... Still, I actually enjoy grinding spices and making spice pastes and whatnot [sad cow emoticon]

He did seem to expect cheese scones at some point and cakes and cookies but I'm leaving the baking for a few days.

SesIsNowCountingdownthedays · 05/05/2009 16:43

Thanks for all you "good position wishes"

I know it's not really that drastic, especially when we don't know for sure but it's amazing how my subconscious seems to have planned out my labour and this didn't feature in the plan at all!

Febes - hopefully I'll be the same! Fish Pie sounds good. Was out for lunch today with a friend and DH working late so won't be cooking much here. DH can have left over chicken and pasta and I'll probably have a cheese sandwich.

Grumpy - tap dancing DD sounds v cute

alapala · 05/05/2009 16:56

I'll have some fish pie and apricot cake. Yummy. My ML is distinctly rubbish so far. DS' ear is now pouring out pus and he is the clingiest little thing. I thing the bump is sick of him sitting on it - I hope it does affect it, it definitely moved less today, which has me worried. 2 sleepless nights are taking their toll too, I feel OOOOOLD. Still all that SPD sounds much worse, feel very bad for you ladies who have it, and sending labour vibes your way. Not that there are any here, but we are SO unprepared - just hope everyone is better in 19 day time!

sausagenmash · 05/05/2009 17:08

Booooo unhappy us. I feel like a mega, awkward, humfy hippo. Been to Bluewater with a friend today and am absolutely shattered. Woman behind the make up counter in John Lewis said 'oooh your'e low, not long now eh? Keep walking around, you get loads of vouchers if your waters break here!' Eh? I've got 3 weeks left! Hungry now though, as well, so have snaffled the rest of the jaffacakecakcake. Soup and toast for tea here tonight, nowt exciting.

Hugs to you Jael - things will get better soon

Belgian re your hubby forgetting his swimmers!

Reggiee - sorry to hear about your lo's tongue tie - I don't know much about it, but I think the snippage is a relatively straightforward procedure? Fingers crossed..

Have got some nursing bras today. 34E in one shop, 34G in another. Blimey. Now I've turned into Jordan.

CoteDAzur · 05/05/2009 17:08

Jael - Sorry to hear you are in so much pain. Have you started taking antibiotics yet, just in case? Mine are in my hospital bed already. I intend to start taking them as soon as baby pops out.

MatthewAndBumpsMummy · 05/05/2009 17:10

ses good luck for scan, hope baby is head down for you.

jael sorry to hear your feeling so sore, hope it all gets better soon.

Reggie i think 3oz weight gain sounds pretty good really. re- tounge tie my ds was tounged tied when born although the mw told me he wasnt when i asked staright after the birth! he wouldnt latch on at all and didnt really feed for the first day at all. i went along to the bf group at the hosiptal to ask for advice why he wouldnt feed and they told me straight away he was and took him off there and then and cut it (he wasnt even crying when they brought him back a few mins later!) i was so annoyed at the mw who told me he wasnt coz i was so sore by then i gave up and starting expressing from then on. but if ben is tounged tied dont worry about it coz it is easily sorted out and it should help with the sore nipples.

breastfeeding after my bad experiences last time wiv ds tounge tie im planning on expressing from the start this time although i may put lo to the breast for first few feeds while in hospital but soon as im home i plan to express again. ive brought a nice expensive electric pump like i had last time so hopefully it will work as well this time. expressing worked so well for us because, i wasnt sore, dp and other family members couls feed ds which gave me a break (coz obv the expressing took up some time) i knew how much ds was having everytime, he only fed every 4 hrs which was bliss! he was always putting on weight, i didnt personally feel i missed out on any bonding wiv him, he is very much a mummy's boy now so for us it was the best option and apart from the time it took and having to sterilise bottles ect it was great.

Grumpy and Belgian sorry to hear your down, i know how you feel totally as you know ive been pretty much down this whole pg. hope you feel better soon and its not long till your holding your lo's and hope your cold clears up soon grumpy.

llare congrats on george's weight gain its so nice to know there doing well isnt it.

bantam sorry to hear your overdue now, i know how annoying that can be, good luck for the sweep.

minimenace good luck for your sweep too.

re - sleeping im havent slept well all though this pg and am certinaly not sleeping any better now either, so many toilet trips every night! least im gonna be well prepered for the sleepless nights when they come.

ive finally starting packing my hospital bag just need to get toiletries.

febes im soooooooooo tired too!

i havent had any BH's at all through any of this pg and didnt have any in ds's pg either, am just worried that this means im gonna have to be induced again! maybe i just dont realise im having them!

Belgianchocolates · 05/05/2009 17:16

Just a quick one before going out again. Thanks for all the supportive messages. I really appreciate it.

reggie Tongue tie will more than likely be what's causing all your feeding trouble, i.e. sore nipps and the weight gain not being as much as expected. However I wouldn't worry myself too much about baby's weight gain, because after all it wasn't weight loss so you're doing something right Snipping a tongue tie only takes a sec and the results are usually immediate. I bet the 1st feed you have afterwards on thursday will be a lot less painful.

ses good luck with the position. I'm well aware of how stressful it is to have to wait for a scan. I've been through it myself a few weeks ago. Good luck
