euromum · 03/05/2009 11:34

Re weight loos - well done llare, nothing to be ashamed of, you've done really well. DH and I have also agreed that we are both going on a diet (well, a very healthy eating regime) over the summer as soon as things settle down a bit after birth and getting bf established. Am by no means overweight even with my pg weight but it is important to feel like you're at your 'right' size, it's so demoralising to constantly feel like you're too large for yourself even if it's only by a little bit.

euromum · 03/05/2009 11:34

Doh, typos - weight loss, obviously.

Blottedcopybook · 03/05/2009 11:35

hugs Euromum, I don't think anyone could blame you for feeling peed off. Give your DH a kick in the stones and remind him that you are two weeks away from giving birth! Sleeping in until 11?! Alright for some innit!

ladyhelenatealltheeggs · 03/05/2009 11:41

Morning all. Rufus arrived 2 15 on sat morning. Hope to be home later so full story then. Congrats to any other new arrivals too

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 03/05/2009 11:42

euromum - it's always difficult living with rellies and when you're only 2 weeks off giving birth and still being relied upon to do all that, I think you deserve a big whinge! I have to say that since being on ML, I've been doing all the housework, cooking, etc which previously DH would have done some. I've started to tell him that once the baby is here, he'll be doing it - especially whilst he is off work for the first 2 weeks. He looked a little suprised!!!
If I were you, I'd talk to your DH and tell him how it's making you feel.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 03/05/2009 11:43

Yay ladyhelen - huge congrats on the arrival of Rufus Look forward to hearing more when you get chance.

llareggub · 03/05/2009 11:49

Congratulations ladyhelen, and what a great name! Take care of yourself and look forward to hearing all about it.

Blottedcopybook · 03/05/2009 11:51

Congrats Helen!!

Afternoon everyone,

I've only just skim read the thread and haven't got the time to name everyone that needs a mention, but I just want to say a big congrats to tummum

Not at all. Only a few days ago we had the same symptoms and now Tummum has got her baby and I don't. Not fair. Can you tell I'm utterly and thoroughly fed up?

Oh well, lunch time now. DH has got it in his mind that we'll eat outside, so better get my winter coat out

FiKelly · 03/05/2009 13:17

congratulations ladyhelen on rufus.. wow sat was a really busy baby day! I wonder if we'll get more than 4 new arrivals on same day? hard to beat I think ;)

bekkaboo · 03/05/2009 13:31

Hi advice needed???? When he midwife checks your waters, does i show potential infections? Ive got constant belly ache and backache today and wondering if infection? My waters were checked yesterday and wre clear but showed I needed to drink more to dilute key tones. Any advice is welcomed please???

aquababe · 03/05/2009 13:53

divedaisy Momino, tummum & Ladyhelen congratulations!

How are you all managing this, any tips gratefully received!

This little lazy one still isn't enegaged all the time

euromum hope your house finishes asap.
my advice is just don't do it. but I'd happily live in a dump just to prove a point

pulapula · 03/05/2009 14:13

bekkaboo- i've never had my waters checked, so can't help i'm afraid- i think you need belgianchocs if she is around...

I thought i'd relay something funny my DD (4) said to my mum yesterday. She asked if she had a baby in her tummy, and when my mum said "no" she said "well then why is your tummy so big then" lol

Belgianchocolates · 03/05/2009 14:25

Oh, I see that I missed ladyhelen's announcement earlier too. Another big congrats to her too. Amazing, all these babies in a row. DH is saying that it'll be tonight, he can feel in he says. But he said the same the night before and before and before, so I'm ignoring him.

bekkaboo It's not because your waters were clear yesterday, that things couldn't have changed overnight. So yes, you could have a water infection. However, being that it's baby season on this thread, it could also be early signs of labour. Drink plenty of water/clear fluids nothing fizzy, cafeinated or sugary and see if it clears. If it's painful, have some paracetamol. Do you have pain when you wee? Because if you do then it's definitely more likely to be a water infection than early labour.

swaddling you can use any sheet/blanket to swaddle a baby. In hospital we usually fold a normal crib sheet in a triangle shape and wrap baby up in that.

I had to tell DH off today. We still have decorators in and they were doing ds's room. I was in the bath and DH hadn't told them, so while I was in the bath, arms up in the air because I was shampooing my hair, the decorator walked into the bathroom. The bath faces the door so he had a full view of me completely starkers

ReeBee · 03/05/2009 14:46

oh no belgian, what a nightmare re the decorators - bet you were mortified! It could have been worse - at least you were in the bath and not the shower... I bet the poor decorator was more embarrassed than you were anyway. But still, am for you - have you seen him since?!

alapala · 03/05/2009 15:33

Congratulations more babies!

We've had a nightmare weekend here. DS has been v ill and has full blown ear infection complete with oozing pus.. He's now on antibiotic and suppositaries (am finally a euro-mum non?) but still so sad it breaks my heart. On top my ribs are killing me due to some cartilage inflammation and all that coughing i've been doing which makes carrying him v hard. Has stopped my coughing for good though - just too painful to! thank God am now on ML.

The good news though is that we accepted an offer on our flat in London, so when I'm home this summer I get to look for our fisrt (and forever?) family house. Have noted dandy's catchment area nightmare..

3 weeks to go!

Febes · 03/05/2009 15:50

Congrats Lady Helen love the name Rufus!! I hope 1stMrsF is enjoying her girls and their delivery went to plan on friday. Can't wait to hear their finalised names. Speaking of names momi???

euromum · 03/05/2009 15:57

Wow another one - yesterday was busy - well done ladyhelen and congrats on a fabulous name!

Hi ses - you're right that dh needs to know, tho to be honest he is also finding the same stuff pretty stressful and neiter of us gain much these days from bringing it up again. Nothing wrong with his dad either, we have just been staying here too long (needless to say it's longer than planned, when do renovations happen on time??), so I don't want to risk upsetting things more by whingeing. He is also helping out sometimes with housework even though like you I think as I'm on ML it's only fair if I do more of that for the mo. Just got well fed up of it this morning!

aqaubabe - you are so right, at this point of the whole thing I would also say just don't do it to anyone insane enough to consider redoing their house while expecting - but then you should have seen the horrendous state of the place before . Not fit for my beautiful babies - and of course it WILL be a luxurious marvel of comfort and design (one day...).

alapala - welcome to euro-style suppo-medication! We use them lots (in Belgium) and I find them so much easier than getting dd to swallow the correct amount of meds otherwise. Hope it's effective anyway and things get better quickly, sounds like a really horrid infection. Where are you living - did I get it right that you're not in the uk for now? Also glad to find someone else with a few weeks left to go, my due date is in 4 weeks and with all these babies arriving now and everyone beyond their dates already, I am really feeling like I'm still in it for the long haul!

Febes · 03/05/2009 15:57

I have started using my washable nappies on DD again today as I promised myself I would when I was finished work again. Need to save some money and I have them all sitting in a bag so makes sense to use them again. I must say I'm feeling a little smug and am finding it surprising easy to use them again.

Momino · 03/05/2009 16:30

hi all.
ladyhelen, congrats on the arrival of Rufus. Well done!

about names: looks like dd3 is going to be Harper Grace. i'm still not completely sold on Harper but we've had the name on every baby list since DD1 and (obviously) remained unused. also, our top boy name was atticus so it only seems natural to use the 'other' 'To kill a mockinbird' name. It's DH's choice so I'm fine with it. I just want to be sure it stands up against other DD's names, India and Saskia. I'll update the birth list later with the name when I'm 100%.

I'm so tired and going to have a quick nap whilst baby is asleep and other DD's at the park. finding BF a bit difficult and slightly painful but hoping that will get easier when milk comes in.

Hope you're all doing well and having a lovely Bank holiday weekend.

Jennster · 03/05/2009 16:43

Message from Chocolate Bunnies Thanks for all the messages. Have been updating her with arrivals, dreams, peeing activities and door opening shenanigans. She's off line for a bit.

Jennster · 03/05/2009 16:44

Oh and she obviously says congratulations to all the new arrivals.
