pulapula · 02/05/2009 22:15

rosielady and emmab - i am also at a stage where DD and DS are getting on really well, share a room, sleep through, etc etc so it seems like we're rocking the boat to bring a newborn into the mix. But i seem to remember thinking the same thing when we had DS (DD was 2.6 and really "easy"). It was hard at first, in that DDs behaviour went a bit downhill, but in the long run, it's been hard work but lovely to have 2 great kids- and in terms of loving another LO when your first LO is so precious and special to you, that bit came really easy to me, easier than with my DD as I think i had really bad baby blues.

My anxieties this time are around DS. He is clingy at the moment, wanting mummy cuddles a lot, and preferring me to carry him rather than DH. With me having a elcs, carrying won't be an option for a few weeks, and cuddles will have to be done very carefully (avoiding my wound) but i don't want him to get upset, so will have to make sure i do what i can to make him feel secure and loved.

Tummum Congratulations!!! Lovely name

Mr Jael Hahahaha! Thanks for the update x

Momino · 03/05/2009 00:07

Tummum, congratulations! Lovely name, so happy for you.Also sounds like a good labour. Well done!{smile}
MrJael Thanks for the update. Funny story. [grin} Give our love to Jael.

PainRelief: Sorry if I misled, but I did use gas and air. It helped by taking off the edge and getting me to concentrate even more on breathing. If you've got it, I would recommend it. For me, it was the only option at the time.

All well here. Sitting up with sis and baby who has slept all day so will be up all night. G'night

x

Tummum · 03/05/2009 01:56

Can't sleep. Too excited .

Blotted am tucking into a humungous piece of jaffacakecakecake because after eating nothing since 1pm, giving birth and breast feeding I'm starving ! And I have to say, it tastes FAB!

Momino · 03/05/2009 05:19

morning all. will have to get used to one-handed typing as will be posting in the future most likely whilst holdin baby/BF .

v lucky as baby just had a 5 hour stretch of sleep. must be the post-birth sleepiness so don't expect to last but most grateful anyway as i'm still shattered.

hop all of you are well today and looking forward to hearing more announcements soon.

Momino · 03/05/2009 05:44

couple o things:

m&bmummy, hang in there, the last few months (now weeks)are tough esp emotionally. we're all here to listen, support, advise and [hug emoticon].

reebee, yes it was YDH. they were wonderful.

birthstories - i'm glad dandy mentioned feeling better about mine. i really was down, nervous, anxious about mine since last 2 labours were awful. i think i feigned confidence this time (thoughyou may not have noticed on here with my whingy posts ) but it must have rubbed off. i went in fully expecting epidural and/or other med pain relief but had to change plans and cope by tens, breathing and g&a. an very happy and proud now. i'm hoping i would have felt the same had i needed an em CS or epidural, etc.

all this is about is trying to remain calm, in control, getting info & guidance from your partner and mw/birth team. you've made a baby - what a miracle! no matter how s/he arrives in this world, we've all had an amazing 9 months with bodies, emotions working very hard. we should be very happy and proud .

can you tell i'm full of hormones and prob still giddy from lack of sleep?

daizydoo · 03/05/2009 06:05

Congrat tummum - how exciting! Hope both you & Momino managed some sleep last night!!

After spending yesterday feeling quite unwell after having a reaction to my iron tablets, ds has been awake since 4.30am with a temperature! We are now cuddled up on the sofa watching the Ninja Warrior competition and ds has eaten 1/2 a melon!

Momino · 03/05/2009 06:16

daizy, hope you and DS feel better soon. sounds lovely to be cuddling on sofa despite time of morn. half a melon sound yummy too but can't bear to put baby down and go get something to eat.

have been up for over an hour. baby asleep but I can't sleep myself. will regret this later i'm sure.

daizydoo · 03/05/2009 06:47

Momi - hopefully you'll get some sleep later on! How's the name choosing going? One of the only names we can agree on has been used by someone already!! Hope no-one thinks we are copying!!

FiKelly · 03/05/2009 07:37

morning everyone.. bit bleary as ds was up from 3till4.30am so having a caffeine start to the day. nothing wrong with ds just one of those things..

wonderful to wake up to tummum's news. many congrats and another birth brought a tear to my eye.

daisydoo hope ds feels bit better soon.. park yourselves on the sofa for as long as possible! don't worry about choosing a name already used by someone.. we're one big MN family on this thread and I'm sure no one will mind there being a few duplicates.. or it would make it v difficult for our end may'ers to pick names!

FiKelly · 03/05/2009 07:48

ooo knew I'd forgotten something!

thanks mr jael for the update.. your post brought back memories of when we'd just had ds and made me lol

Febes · 03/05/2009 07:50

Morning ladies.
Momi-Your post was so lovely and true, made me .

DD woke at 6am this morning so I sent DH down to sort her out. We normally just lay her down and she sleeps a bit longer however since I put a washable nappy on her last night I thought she might be wet so said to DH to change her nappy as she was wearing reusuables and they were in a bag in her room. Well he couldn't find them as was looking for the disposables so I ended up getting up and we ended up shouting at each other and he went back to bed and I got up with DD who was wide awake by this point. Grrrr. I know I am unreasonably snappy and hormonal but why can't he just understand that with 5 days to go until I'm due and not sleeping through and being uncomfortable he should give me a damn break .

Febes · 03/05/2009 07:51

Congrats Tummum on the safe quick arrival of baby Gethin .

pulapula · 03/05/2009 07:58

Congratulations Tummum- I look forward to hearing what it's like when your 2 DDs come home and meet their new baby brother. Well done you.

pulapula · 03/05/2009 08:10

Just updated the list as noticed some new baby names were missing. I've also changed the weeks so hope i've got them right- have been up on and off since 5.20 as DD woke us all up shouting that she couldnt sleep. So a very early start...

Morning all. Congratulations again to momino and tummum again - am feeling a bit teary and emotional reaading your posts. Well done to both of you, you're making me want mine really soon. Am amazed and delighted to read about all these quick and easy labours - you're giving me confidence that maybe, just maybe I'll be ok this time too.
[sniff, sniff, oh it's the thought of these little tinies but I think I'm going to cry again]
Have a good day all. DH is away to Edinburgh to run a 10K but has promised to be back early afternoon.
More BH contractions here, but nothing else. Wish my baby would hurry up (but am not even due for another 13 days so not very likely). Oh well. x

frazzledoldbag · 03/05/2009 08:55

Oh and also MrJael congrats again and thanks for the update. You made me laugh with your descriptions of the weeing boy! Can't wait for that to happen to me. Hope jael is feeling well today and manages to get home. x
