congrats Rostbeef. With my first I told the people that I would have told if it didn't work out - if that makes sense. Told everyone else after the first scan.
I am still in shock at the mo so don't know when I will tell anyone !

I agree with Blocka - you got to do what feels right for you.

AmyLou32 · 18/05/2009 21:47

Hi all,

Is it ok to join in? I have just found out I am approx 6 weeks, due on 10 Jan. It's my 1st, a COMPLETE shock, and I have no idea what to do from here, well apart from see the doctor of course...I know nothing about pregnancy or children, so hoping for some guidance....esp from the experienced gang!

rostbeef · 19/05/2009 10:21

Thanks guys, you are right. I have told the people who I would feel comfortable with should I have any problems...and now I am going to relax about it!

Congratulations everyone too. This board is going to be a god send! Congratulations AmyLou32, mine was a shock too - we had been trying for a year but then sort of tried by not using contraception, one night, felt totally "up for it" ! went wild and just six days later started feeling pg. I was shocked - which is ridiculous - as it felt out the blue. Now I am over the shock just worried about finding a house as we rent in North London at the moment....

Have you guys booked your first scan- I have been given something called Patient Power (I think??) where you call the hospital and the doc send a letter of referral. Just FYI I have been given advice by a family friend who is a senior consultant gynae that UCH is a good one if you are in North London.

Blocka, we have the same due date! (i think - my calcluations might be a little off as had a weird cycle). I don't think it's too soon to contact MW although i think i'll wait another week, just because.

rostbeef · 19/05/2009 20:15

Hey LondonLottie - same due date, and I am also called Lottie (Charlotte) from London...spooky!
I had my scan date confirmed today - 26th June. Can I wait that long!!???

Blocka · 19/05/2009 20:34

Hello totalmisfit - wow, will be great fun going thru this with someone with the same date!

I feel soooo tired it is untrue! I can't remember feeling this tired first time round. And unbelievably thirsty! I guess first time I didn't have a 2yr old running round me - this is going to be a long 8 months!

lilacpink · 19/05/2009 22:11

Hi All, and congrats to anyone who has recently had a +ve test.

Although we've told my parents and sister. I had to tell a white lie today to try not to appear preg to a friend (all family and friends know we're trying) - said my DD had stayed around my Mums overnight, so I could stay out and have a drink on my birthday. In reality we got home at 12, and I didn't - of course - have anything alcoholic. I struggled while out too that night as started by saying I love stuffed mushrooms, then realised they're stuffed with pate so had to pretend that another option was as good. My excuse that night to friends we were with was that I couldn't drink as had been taking paracetamol for a cold (luckily they did drink quickly so didn't notice my lack of symptoms, but thankfully not too much so I didn't have to look after them!)

I have 2 friends who've recently had a DC and 4 friends who want to be preg, so conversation tends to go back to preg easily. I'm getting the stage where I feel queasy and turn green at random times so I'm sure I'll be asked over the next few weeks!(I'm keen to wait until after my scan 26th May though).

Agree with you Sazlocks, hoping we all have sticky beans!

skidoodle · 19/05/2009 22:25

Hi all, been AWOL since the weekend as working 10 hour days at the mo.

It's hard to know whether I'm extra tired from being pregnant or just knackered from working all the time.

londonlottie, LessThanIdeal if you are the 13th we're due date buddies, as that's the date that comes up in the calculators I've used

Welcome to all the other joiners

I find having this thread to chatter on actually makes it a bit easier to have to keep it a secret from so many people. So far only my parents know. I think I will tell my sister soon. She's due in September, so it sort of seems mean not to tell her. Also she told me pretty much as soon as she knew and I'd definitely want her support if anything went wrong.

LOL @marmitemonster waking up at 2am to throw up, but having no morning sickness

Sorry, shouldn't laugh, it sounds grim. I know 2am is strictly speaking "the middle of the damn night" but I'm sure that counts as morning sickness.

So far the only people that know i'm pegnant are DF and my Health Visitor. I just feel i can't tell anyone as yet. I know they'll have to find out sooner or later, but i just don't know what to say. That's why this place is keeping me sane.

timmette · 20/05/2009 09:21

Hi Everyone - wow the bus is getting pretty full.Let's hope we all have sticky beans.
I have to admit to really wanting spicy wings. .
I have been bleeding a bit last night and am so worried after what happened last time - It is so stressful.

liny · 20/05/2009 10:02

hello,

had a bad day yesterday just sooo tired and quite queasy...
Don't worry timette about spotting, I have had some and after the scan this week they have seen where it was coming from- some bruising in uterus, so anyway, i have been asked to take the week off, which is nice but day tv is very depressing ;-)

I haven't told my parents yet, but we are seeing them next week and mum will notice...;-) some of our friends have not asked any questions but must have noticed I'm not drinking...so we are hoping to wait until 12 weeks scan.

Thanks liny I know for a lot of people it's normal - but I can't help worrying - I have a scan on Monday and an appointment at the gynae - so will know more then - it seems so long away right now - I know I am being silly.
Hi Londonlottie thanks - I have also gianed a couple of pounds which I am a bit about since I am feeing quite sick and not eating loads at all.

MrsStripey · 20/05/2009 13:45

Hi All

I've been lurking since I got my BFP last week worried I'll jinx it if I join an antenatal thread. Takes deep breath....but I've decided to go ahead and join as you all seem such a nice friendly bunch.

My EDD is 17 Jan and this is my 2nd DC I have DS 15 Months.

Looking forward to getting to know you all over the coming months.

Hello

I'd like to join in too please. I've been reading pretty much since the thread appeared but haven't said anything so far.

I'm due around 11th Jan. So far I've been feeling fine; just tired and needing to eat and wee all the time! Little bit of dizziness but, touch wood, no sickness yet. I'm hoping I got all the sickness out of the way with DD1, born in 2005, when it was the very first sign I was pregnant before I even suspected enough to test and didn't go away till I stopped work at 20 weeks (not mat leave, actually leaving the job was in).

Have told a couple of people already, but they knew I wanted another baby and/or I'd probably want to talk to them if anything went wrong anyway. Am holding off on big public announcements for a bit longer, but as my brain seems to have stopped working properly sometimes when I'm feeling tired there's a good chance I'll slip up and say things to other friends fairly soon anyway.

Its nice to hear about everyone else's stories, looking forward to finding out more and chatting. x

beanieb · 20/05/2009 17:12

Hi there, I'd like to join if possible - though like others I wonder if it's too early? I am just over 5 weeks and have an early scan booked for June 4th as I conceived after taking clomid (First time!) and they need to check for multiples. Am glad to be getting the early scan and don't envy people who have to wait for 11-12 weeks.

Not getting any symptoms, no sickness yet and this fabled breast pain seems to only be a dull ache for me.

this is my first baby so forgive me if I ask loads of really annoying questions.

beanieb · 20/05/2009 17:12

oh = ps, due date from online calendar thing is 16th January
