Yoghurt is great for a sore throat, and if you're having honey and lemon stick some ginger in there too! Had a cold for the last 3 weeks and am getting nowhere fast at getting rid of this cough...any suggetions? Even covonia says consult dr if preggy! Tbh the medicine issue is the only thing I've taken any notice of in terms of 'not allowed'.

I've currently got a peanut butter and jam sandwich fetish going on, not sure if that rivals chips for calorie intake or not...I don't do guilt or worry, so please don't anyone do the helpful thing and tell me how I shouldn't be eating peanut butter. What will be will be.

ok bet i can beat all with the knicker checking. I was driving along the local road and felt discharge or something (you can imagine what i was thinking) so i stopped the car and checked in a layby. luckily all was ok but i did feel like a bit of a weirdo lol. btw it was a quiet road and nobody went past lol

dal21 · 10/06/2009 07:50

Morning all! I have no idea how you ladies are still up so late. I am in my bed by 8pm, lights off not much sooner after that!
Plus all the talk about chip shop chips is not helping my determination to stay away from them.

Marmite - Hope you are feeling better after your fall. I have made it into work today (but I drive) and the roads are getting very heavy. Enjoy your duvet day!

Re. the meds, there are so many things you cannot have, especially in the first trimester. I am still full of cold (desperately missing my lemsip), but getting by on olbas oil.

Re. the icecream - all the shop bought stuff will be fine as it has been pasteurised. Mr whippy ice cream from vans is a no no -I was amazed by that one! As is homemade stuff (like homemade mayonaisse). I even remember reading that pre packaged salads are a big no no! . Slight salmonella risk methinks. Ignored that one!

Have fab days all. Hope everyone is feeling ok, and for those in London, the tube strike doesnt cause too much havoc!

dal21 · 10/06/2009 07:59

Ohhh, and meant to say....we are going to need a new thread shortly. Only have space for about another 50 posts.....so someone needs to dream up a new thread title!!!

Biccy · 10/06/2009 09:57

lol starshaker at your knicker checking... sure beats my kitchen and hallway capers! Does remind me of the time I broke down and was so desperate for a pee by the time the rescue man had fixed the car that I used a nappy in a layby... very weird, could only do enough to make myself comfortable enough to get to the next services!

Biccy · 10/06/2009 10:00

At work again today, and people seem to be on high alert for pregnancy symptons. Was offered a coffee, and when I turned it down (because I already had a cup of tea, roibos, but nobody knew that) I got raised eyebrows and 'oh, not drinking coffee' and 'you'll start rumours' from somebody else. Aargh. Going to go and ostentatiously pour myself a coffee in a minute, and am desperately hoping they are not noticing my distended belly (it's all gastric I'm sure, but it does look suspicious I think!). Have also been making a big deal of dd not sleeping well (which, generally, she doesn't) to try and excuse my constant yawning.

bethoo · 10/06/2009 10:25

hello ladies
it has taken me two days to read this whole thread.
i am sorry for the losses.
i am almost 10 weeks but because i do not know the dates as i only had one period since having my dd i have no idea whne i ovulated. i ahd a scan last week as i had a huge three week bleed when i must have been around 3 weeks. i thought it was a late period then for some reason took a test after the bleed and i was pregnant so was in doubt as to whether i was still pregnant as i have had a mmc and i know that hormones can stay in the body for a long time after the baby has passed.
i have a 2 year old ds and an 8 month old dd.

iateallthecreameggsyummy · 10/06/2009 11:22

Oooh ladies i've been reading about all your eating habits!!

Roll on Friday when i get paid as right now i want penaut butter and jam sandwiched, crumpets oozing with butter and cheese onion crisps sarnie and picked eggs.......

As i have none of the above in the house except bread for toast, i will throw a big batch of sausages in the oven and chomp through them!! With mustard as im out of ketchup!!

All because............ IM STARVING!!!!

Last night came home from work at 10:30pm and DH had made me pasta, with egg, bacon and onion. He'd plated up a mansize portion for me and i never ever eat that much, i think he was waiting for me to say im stuffed! Only it didnt happen. I munched my way through that plate left not even a scrap and felt quite embarassed by myself! Of course i blamed it on the baby needing carbs!?!? Tasted yummy though, his cooking always does, and i have to today come up with a dish using the bits we have in the fridge a soupe of some kind so cmon advice please...... I have the following:

Lentils, carrots, onions, potatoes, parsnips and a turnip! What can i make with that??

Urgh rather sarnies anyday!!

iateallthecreameggsyummy · 10/06/2009 11:23

by the way sausages are in the oven! All 7 of them mmmmmmm yummy!

alibobins · 10/06/2009 11:33

I'm starving too but the thought of food is still turning my stomach.
Been up in the night with DD she had high temp and headache feel absolutly shattered lol can't believe in just about 7 months we will be up with night feeds.

iateallthecreameggsyummy · 10/06/2009 11:46

aww ali have you tried ginger biccies??

7 mnths scarey isnt it, doesnt seem that far away! Im 8 weeks on Friday Although im hoping when i have my scan she does not put me back to something daft like 6 weeks Roll on scan date!

Biccy · 10/06/2009 11:49

I have to admit, it's the sleep deprivation whilst also having a 3 year old that is worrying most about having a new baby... especially as my 3 year old rarely sleeps through the night. I just have to keep reminding myself that I won't also be working and hope that makes enough of a difference!

I work 2 minutes walk from the best chip shop in town... not sure if I'm going to be able to resist it today!

Biccy · 10/06/2009 11:52

By the way, I put my booking form through the midwives' door this morning. Had this awful experience in the doctor's surgery yesterday trying to get the form in the first place, because I didn't want the whole pack, just the form and I kept on having to say, louder and louder, so that everybody in the waiting room could hear: I don't need the pack because Iive got it from February, but then I miscarried... ugh. Should have just taken the whole pack and scuttled off... but it seemed such a waste (their pack is huge).

bethoo · 10/06/2009 11:53

Biccy i think sometimes depending on the season the pack contents change. though i think Emmas diary is the same year in year out apart from the cover!

Biccy · 10/06/2009 11:59

Emma's diary was the only thing I could think of in the pack that could have changed significantly (most of the leaflets are exactly what I had 4 years ago), and I'm not that bothered about Emma's diary, I have to admit! I seem to remember the midwives trying to give it all to me again at my booking in appointment anyway.

Biccy · 10/06/2009 12:00

Sorry bethoo, haven't said a proper hello to you yet! Welcome and congratulations on your third pregnancy - perhaps you can reassure me that I will cope with two children just fine?!

Biccy · 10/06/2009 12:07

iate, I see a veggie curry in amongst your ingredients?

bethoo · 10/06/2009 12:08

Biccy you will be fine with two kids but it makes you appreciate how easy it is with one!! my ds can entertain my dd and there is nothing better than hearing two babies chuckling at each other!
though i will let you know how i breakdown cope with 3 (all under 3, for a month at least!!)

Sersi · 10/06/2009 12:47

Hi everyone,

Just been trying to catch up. So sorry to hear sad news for some of you, my thoughts are with you.

Also some new joiners - congratulations and welcome - hope you have uneventful journey's to motherhood.

Afraid I'm coming here for a bit of a stress today - sorry in advance. Yesterday I had some bleeding - not a lot but bleeding nonetheless. This morning bleeding very very slight but now have pain - its like a stitch but really low down on my right side. Tried to phone my midwife but apparently she's not around until Friday. Midwife team told me to phone my GP. He has basically said, bedrest for the next 48 hours. I may miscarry...if I don't think I have miscarried then phone him back on Friday and he will arrange a viability scan for early next week. Now I know there isn't much they can do but it all seems so cold. Also, how on earth am I supposed to have complete bedrest with 2 DS's and a job? Haven't even told my work I'm pregnant yet, looks like I'm now going to have to phone my boss this afternoon to say a) am pregnant but b) looiks like I might be about to miscarry so I can't come in to work for the next couple of days. I'm sure she will be understanding but its all so unpleasant, stressful and I feel crap.

Sorry to put something of a downer on this rainy wednesday afternoon but as I haven't told anyone about pregnancy yet I have nowhere else to feel sorry for myself.

On a more practical note - does anyone know whether taking a pregnancy test would tell me anything? Have one of those cheapo poundshop ones kicking about somewhere.

timmette · 10/06/2009 12:53

sersi I hope everything is ok. Is there an epu near you that you can self refer to and have a scan today or tomorrow. Not sure I understand your gp - my gynae said that if you are going to miscarry you will do it regardless of being in bed etc - when I lost the last pregnancy - so personally not convinced about the bed rest thing.
A pregnancy test won't tell you anything - sorry.
Could you just tell your boss gynae problems and avoid the whole pregnancy thing?>

ClaireDB · 10/06/2009 12:53

Wow I can't keep up with all the posts! Hello to the new passangers on the bus.

I'm also getting some ligament issues, feels like I have pulled my stomach muscles, both at the top and the bottom, but only on and off!

Who mentioned crumpets? Save one for me!!

Anyone else gone off eggs and nuts? The first I knew I was pregnant was when I was chewing my usual muesli and suddenly wanted to vomit and had to chuck it in the bin!! Classy!

sersi i agree with timmette, if you are going to miscarry all the bed rest in the world is not going to change that. and a preg test would only be neg if you had a cp. this far along there would still remain hormones in your wee for a while after.
is it alot of blood? i bleed after sex all the time so it could be cervical abrasion. alot of the time if bleeding is not through a mc then the mw/gp can not find where the bleeding came from.
hope all is well.x

iateallthecreameggsyummy · 10/06/2009 13:35

sersi sounds like you should go to EPU and ask for a scan. How far along are you??

Would anyone mind me asking a TMI questions please:

This tugging business from stretching uterus, ive been feeling things going on for a few days now but yest i felt really achy as though id had a rather lot of sex, but haven't! Is this part of the stetchy uterus thing?? Plus loads of cm, which i hardly ever get? I'm 7+4 today. (we think till scan)

bethoo · 10/06/2009 13:40

i have gallons of cm so nothing too worry about there, it is a good sign.

the tummy ache thing could be a multitude of things, like trapped wind for example.
ligament pain comes when the baby starts to raise out the pelvic area so not until about 12 weeks really. cramps and aches are just the norm. i get them alot but then i also get the opposite of constipation during my pregs which no mw has been able to explain! prob just dehydrated! oh yes dehydration can cause cramps too.
