pepa I have no idea how I am going to get someone to look after my youngest when I go for my appointments but for the reasons you have described I must find a way. your post made me smile though.

The sister from my local EPU phoned me back and was absolutely lovely. She told me I could go for a scan tomorrow morning which is a relief. She laughed at my doctors suggestion of bed rest and wittered on about it all just being so matter of fact for many male GP's and they have no idea of what women go through etc etc. I still have pains but the bleeding has slowed down so keep everything crossed for me.

iateallthecremeeggsyummy - I have a cat, a normally very grumpy and not at all friendly cat. Since before I knew I was pregnant she has been sprawling accross my tummy at any available opportunity, purring loudly.
Also have stick insects but I don't give them any opportunity to crawl over me.

Wow a girl goes away from MN for 4 days and I've got 10 pages of this thread to catch up on!!! Man we can talk!

Sersi keeping my fingers crossed for you. If you are like me with two uncomplicated pregnancies behind me I just feel like I am chancing my luck with number three...makes for one super paranoid hormornal woman!

bethoo congratulations and welcome to the thread. Glad to have another MN expecting #3 here! We can panic about the logistics of 3 together!!

Well the update from this side of the pond is that I had my first midwife appointment this week. My midwife was really nice (not the same lady as I had for my previous two unfortunately as she is on mat leave but still nice.)

The appointment itself was a disaster though. I made the mistake of taking my children with me and they ran RIOT!

There was no-one in the office so the midwife said that they could play in the waiting room with the toys as we went through my medical history - BAD IDEA!! The 3 yr old was just loud (playing the "drums" on any surface he could find) but my 21 month old daughter DISMANTLED the place! (and I am not exaggerating) Books were thrown off shelves, posters ripped taken off notice boards, business cards strewn everywhere you name it she destroyed it.....the m/w kept saying "no really it's ok" when you know she was actually thinking "And you've created another one like these two - WHAT WERE YOU THINKING WOMAN!!!!"

So needless to say I will not be taking my little devils darlings back to the midwifes office again!

hi Biccy, sounds very similar to me, when i had mc i didnt have cramps just the bleeding so was slightly worried but like you its nothing like period pains thankfully.
Its def nerve wracking because im tempted to go to EPU for a scan but i know i musst wait for the letter to arrive. I was told by midwife early scans are ussually done within 6 weeks of first bfp, well today is 3 weeks so i know i will be scanned within the next 3 weeks.
Im so tired right now i might even go have a nap, or stick a dvd in, grab the duver and snooze a bit. Im still in my dressing gown! Lazy i know but im not doing anything today or seeing anyone so i can get away with it!

Does anyone have any pets by any chance? My dog spends most of his time lounging across my belly which isnt that good as i end up lifting my boobs where there being squished! Hes a boxer dog and very very big, so nope its not that my boobs are on the floor yet...........

Now what to watch..... Dirty dancing me thinks, although i'll no doubt be blubbing when he drives of in his car, then comes back saying 'Nobody put baby in the corner' sob sob sob.

Hope your all crying at silly things to! Best has to be blubbing all the way through BGT final week every night i was a wreck! lol

you're right Biccy - it is nerve wracking. I didn't worry at all about pregnancies 1 & 2 but had nothing to worry about. No unusual symptoms. However, I also didn't know anything, didn't use mumsnet or anything else of the like, and didn't really read any books - ignorance sure is bliss!

bethoo that is somewhat reassuring - hopefully I have had the same thing. although concerned about the pain - fingers crossed it is just ligaments or whatever.

Hi iate, I've been having lots of CM (so much that I feel it and have to knicker check!), read in my book last night that at 7/8 weeks you may get extra discharge, so I think this is all very normal. I've all sorts of odd feelings on and off, stabbing pains, crampiness, back ache, but nothing that really feels like a period, which my MC really did feel like - really tight pains that I was sort of holding onto. I've also had some vaginal aches (sorry everyone!), but also read that a vaginal exam would reveal a pregnancy by 7 weeks, so something must be changing in there!

It's so nerve wracking isn't it?

i noticed it the following morning sersi, we have sex most nights and i was too tired last night (honest could barely keep my eyes open) and no blood this morning! it is usually a little pink staining on my undies and when i wipe after first wee of the day. sometimes it will be in my cm, how lovely!

bethoo · 10/06/2009 14:09

i will be 10 weeks tomorrow.
funny story really, my second period was late as only had periods back since having my 8 month old baby, took a test and was neg then two weeks later came on (so i thought) and thought the period was weird as really heavy and was three weeks long! something in me thought take a test! it was pos! called dr and said thought was a mc even though tests kept coming back pos as was taking one every week! she then asked me to give a wee sample for them to test even though it is the same as the ones you get from the chemist even though it took almost two weeks to get the result. finally got through as still bled a little (most likely from sex) and explained that though felt preg the bleeding has me convinced it was a mc. had blood test then scan last friday, found out i was 9 weeks and a day! surprised it survived the bleed.
with my ds i bled heavily and continuously from 6 weeks to 16 weeks and they had no idea why, said a hemorrhage somewhere in there!

timmette · 10/06/2009 14:08

Sersi I bled the day after having sex at about 7 weeks also and went to the gynae who said it is very common - I was lucky and got a scan.
It could well be that

thanks guys.

have phoned my local EPU and they will not let me self refer - have to be refered by my GP.

I am somewhere between 8-9 weeks. and now I think of it I did have sex the night before I noticed the bleeding the next am. bethoo - how long does this usually last for you? if you don't mind me asking is it pink / light red? is it straight away or does it happen the following day?

can't hardly believe the questions we ask of complete strangers!!

lol bethoo i know what you mean, although i have not rung the midwife once yet ive had no bleeding or spotting. touchwood!

I might contact them and ask for a scan this week the waiting is really difficult! I just want to know how far i actually am and that the bubbs is ok, prob same thing everyone else is wanting

How far along are you?

iateallthecreameggsyummy hard nto to put a space bar between that name lol
i would not worry, i forgot that the uterus still grows so maybe i am getting mixed up with the whole popping out after 12 weeks is when you can actually feel it, it is prob ligament pain. it is confusing as there are a number of possibilities why you get the cramps but non are threatening. only if you have a very heavy bleed with severe keeling over pains is there a risk. but if you want professional reassurance contact your mw
i hate contacting hate gp as i feel they think oh god its her again, what now

Report
iateallthecreameggsyummy · 10/06/2009 13:56

ok bethoo thanks, i am slightly confused now as from reading the net it says from 6-8 weeks uterus grows from size of a plum to the size of a grapefruit so doubling in size? I assumed that was why i had felt some aches and cramps certainly wasnt anything major.

Perhaps i should give my midwife a call as if my uterus doesnt need to be growing i dont want to worry. I had MC recently and so dont want to find this is the start of another?

Glad your having lots of cm, at least something is normal

Report
bethoo · 10/06/2009 13:41

at 7 weeks your baby is no bigger than a cm so your uterus is not really needing to grow just yet.

Report
bethoo · 10/06/2009 13:40

i have gallons of cm so nothing too worry about there, it is a good sign.

the tummy ache thing could be a multitude of things, like trapped wind for example.
ligament pain comes when the baby starts to raise out the pelvic area so not until about 12 weeks really. cramps and aches are just the norm. i get them alot but then i also get the opposite of constipation during my pregs which no mw has been able to explain! prob just dehydrated! oh yes dehydration can cause cramps too.

sersi sounds like you should go to EPU and ask for a scan. How far along are you??

Would anyone mind me asking a TMI questions please:

This tugging business from stretching uterus, ive been feeling things going on for a few days now but yest i felt really achy as though id had a rather lot of sex, but haven't! Is this part of the stetchy uterus thing?? Plus loads of cm, which i hardly ever get? I'm 7+4 today. (we think till scan)

sersi i agree with timmette, if you are going to miscarry all the bed rest in the world is not going to change that. and a preg test would only be neg if you had a cp. this far along there would still remain hormones in your wee for a while after.
is it alot of blood? i bleed after sex all the time so it could be cervical abrasion. alot of the time if bleeding is not through a mc then the mw/gp can not find where the bleeding came from.
hope all is well.x

Wow I can't keep up with all the posts! Hello to the new passangers on the bus.

I'm also getting some ligament issues, feels like I have pulled my stomach muscles, both at the top and the bottom, but only on and off!

Who mentioned crumpets? Save one for me!!

Anyone else gone off eggs and nuts? The first I knew I was pregnant was when I was chewing my usual muesli and suddenly wanted to vomit and had to chuck it in the bin!! Classy!
