alibobins last time around I basically had a ten-week hangover - dehydrated, nauseated in a way where I always felt as though if I ate something really fatty I would feel better, but it never actually worked, and exhausted all the time

I don't think it started this early (4 weeks) but I'm pretty sure even at this stage any kind of strong smell sent me into a tailspin. Either I'm in a less smelly environment than I was two years ago or else I'm just not so sensitive this time around.

lilacpink I love thinking of names too. Being able to name a tiny person seems such a big honour (and such an opportunity for mischief if my DH got his way )

hayzee · 13/05/2009 08:24

i had lower abdominal pains so when to a & e when they sent me to the epu a dr examined me found my heart rate really fast then i had a scan. I was not really in a lot of pain and i only had the odd twinge on my right side but i just didnt feel right. I kept on getting a stabbing pain in the vaginal and bum area sorry if this is too much info but other than that i felt fine

timmette · 13/05/2009 09:12

Hi singalongmum well I am 6 weeks today I have an appointment on the 25 th I think I will try and stay calm and wait for it.
Liny I did have spotting but didn't have a good result that said I know many people in rl who have had great outcomes despite spotting and lots of bouncing babies. If you still have symptoms that's a great sign - I didn't.

Sersi · 13/05/2009 12:59

hayzee - sorry to hear that. take good care of yourself.

Many of you seem to be having symptoms already but the only thing I can say is different for me is awful nightmares over the last 2-3 nights. that and the skin of my 15 year old self.

had hyperemesis with DS2 though so would prefer to avoid a repeat of that.

as far as telling freinds and the like I'm really trying to avoid that until my 12 week scan. will probably tell my mum and in-laws but want to keep it to myself for a couple of weeks as my brother is getting married and I don't want my news to detract from his day. I haven't even told my GP yet - might try and give him a ring now.....

totalmisfit · 13/05/2009 15:25

Hey everyone,

Got a BFP yesterday afternoon and thought i'd join you!

It's very, very early days for me as i'm not even due for another 4 days. I only tested cos i was feeling sick and dizzy yesterday when i was taking dd to buy ballet gear! Turns out it wasn't just the extortionate cost of tap shoes that sent my head spinning! I found a spare test in the bathroom cabinet when we got home and thought i may as well poas, just in case. I was pretty shocked tbh, even though dh have been trying for 4 months and we both really want a sibling for dd who's(3.2).

My mum's staying with us for a few days and i'm wondering how i can not tell her. I'm crap at keeping secrets. But i know that as soon as i do tell her she'll want to tell my dad, and then dh will want to tell his dad, and then the whole world will know and all before AF is even officially late!

By sheer co-incidence i just happened to have a gyno appt today and they did a test too, and confirmed i am indeed up the duff so it's starting to sink in a little bit now.

alibobins · 13/05/2009 15:27

Well picked ds up from nursery and he's got chicken pox still feel rough but not actually been sick today.

totalmisfit · 13/05/2009 15:59

Sorry to hear that Ali, my dd had the pox when she was 2 and it wasn't much fun. The porridge oats in a pair of tights trick worked really well whenever she had a bath by the way...

Oh and i forgot to add my due date before : 24.01.10.

alibobins · 13/05/2009 16:18

Congratulations your due date is my bro's birthday

dal21 · 13/05/2009 18:14

Hello everyone! The thread is starting to get busy indeed! How lovely. Too many to reply individually at the moment.

Marmite - you simply cannot tease us so with the cinnamon buns. Tis mighty unfair

But ref the bigger tummy second time round; a few of my friends warned me about this. I have to admit that I thought they were exaggerating...but I fear they were correct. The minute I peed on that stick - out came the tummy. DH thinks it is really sweet as he can already start rubbing my tummy..makes it more real for him I guess.

I have told my mum, but dont plan to tell anyone else until the 12 week scan. Although the big belly may thwart those plans!

Am getting sooo excited....

skidoodle · 13/05/2009 19:32

dal21

Yes, my tummy popped out just when I peed on the stick too!

It was the sticks what done it!

welcome totalmisfit

I'm not ready to tell people either. I guess I'll tell my mother. It is seeming less real as time goes by, weirdly. I keep wondering if I did the test right

I'm going to see my GP on Friday for a referral (and a confirmation test, I guess). Maybe that will make me believe.

hayzee well done for following your instinct that something "wasn't right", it can be very easy to ignore those feelings. So sorry to hear your news, but hoping everything goes well for you in the future.

showmethemummy · 14/05/2009 11:22

ok i'm in - have been watching from the sidelines for all of two days since taking a test.

i think i'm excited?? i'm a bit scared by some of the things some mnetters have gone through... a reminder of how fragile we all are i suppose [no, go away, sting and the police!!!]
a bit blue today actually, and surprisingly a little nauseous too, given that i'm - what - 4 weeks? can't seem to get fuzzy head around any calculations, but edd seems to be 20/01/10 (this is no.3)

also don't want to go to doctor because i was really embarrassed when with dd1, he said o yes, you're about 5 weeks, come back when you're 12 weeks!! ie properly preggies!!!! ok maybe that's not what he meant but that's what i heard.

alibobins · 14/05/2009 11:54

Morning everyone
Got a new plan today to combat the sickness
I'm trying to eat something every few hours so far i've had half a slice of toast a crumpet and a cereal bar. This really does seem to help although the thought of food makes me gag if I just grab and eat I seem okay.

My tummy also seems bloated since I took the test but I wasn't slim to start with lol. Got a a hair bobble holding my jeans up today

liny · 14/05/2009 12:06

hello,

Went to the doctor this morning and i have a scan booked for monday! I'm relieved as I'll know if my little tadpole is ok despite some spotting.. but in a way ignorance is bliss

Feeling quite nauseus the last few days.. and I'm also struggling to eat as I don't fancy anything.. even chocolate ....not like me...

have a good day!

alfiesmadmother · 14/05/2009 12:32

showmethemummy. I think all being well I will make an appointment with the midwife at about 12 weeks TBH, we don't get early scans here anyway.

Uugghh. heartburn has kicked in with avengence, any ideas??? Have also swollen an inch all over though I can barely eat. zero appetite, though nausea only in the evenings.

Sersi · 14/05/2009 13:45

have a phone appointment with my doctor today. thought it would be better than going down there, waiting ages and then having the possibility of my 4 year old working out what we're talking about.

was just wondering at what age you're classed as an "older mother" ,and whether this makes any difference to your antenatal care / what scans you may be offered etc? I am 39 (will be 40 when baby born - but only just mind!!!).

showmethemummy · 14/05/2009 13:49

well after i posted i called the surgery - why?why? in a sudden bout of paranoia re exposure to chicken pox.

had blood tests about 6weeks ago bec long story with pg friend exposed etcetc. anyway they confirmed that i'm immune then. yesterday though exposed to my dd1 friend who is now rashy, and then this am found out another friend also has it (sorry to ramble)

anyway in my paranoid preg moment called GP and arranged for her to call me, which she just did and NOW I FEEL STUPID AGAIN. she said, 'once immune, always immune'. blergh.

alfiesmadmother she said you see the MW earlier these days, apparently even at 6weeks. weird. i'm in east london, btw.think i'll avoid the system as long as possible and as much as paranoia attacks will allow!

hmm. also now stuffing face with unnecessary 'lunch'

showmethemummy · 14/05/2009 13:53

also sorry alfiesmadmother no golden tips re heartburn other than glugging the gvscn (Are we allowed to say??) so early! that's really not great.

Actually probably a good idea for me to just pop in at 8 weeks to arrange booking in at 12 weeks, I can always ring up the surgery! Am just so nervous about these things, even with number 4!!!

Marmite, I had a long break before going back to work and settled in fine. Am sure they won't notice anybodys tummy, who cares ???!

Again sorry abut your DD. My DS almost died as a baby/toddler and I was in autopilot for the whole of the time he was in hospital. For months everyone said how well I coped and then it hit me 4 or 5 months later- that was awful.

Take care of yourslf!!!

Still not found a cure for the heartburn. Had it for the first 3 mnths last time and was hoping I wouldn't this time!!!

Oh and sersi I think you prob will be classed as an older Mother (sorry, how rude!0
I feel old at 30 having had DS in earky 20's .

Hi everyone! Am glad that my belly is not the only one doing the popping.

Welcome showmethemummy, glad you have joined us.

Marmite - I am a runner and have done abdominal toning since DS was born. Has not helped one bit with keeping the tummy in.
I'm not remotely bothered about it, but know that people will suspect before I am even near 12 weeks!

Re the appts; I am seeing my GP when I am 6 weeks, they said that I can come in as soon as I want to, but since we are off on hols this weekend, thought I would leave it until we are back. No real rush this early.

Then I am having a scan around the 7 week mark. So that seems an age away. But thinking back, I remember well how far away each milestone seems and yet before you know it; there the LO is!

Have fab weeks all, hope there is something that can help the heartburn. Catch up when back from hols.

Sersi · 14/05/2009 19:35

have a lovely time dal21

zen1980 · 14/05/2009 20:06

Hey everyone,

Went so see gp this morning was soooooo lovely, completly understood how nrevous i am after mmc and now spotting this time. So got me booked in for an early scan at 10am in the morn!! so will know one way or the other xxxxxxxx

showmethemummy · 14/05/2009 22:10

dear marmitemonster, sorry if i imposed another burden on top of all the things you're already dealing with, and please dont feel you can't say things as freely.

zen1980 hope all goes well with scan.

liny · 15/05/2009 09:00

Zen1980 good luck with your scan! Let us know how it went.

Concerning the belly discussions mine is also already popping out, it is a bit scary as this is my first, I'm blaming hormones and water retention at the moment. I don't need any belt for my trousers any more..

Dal 21 enjoy your hol!
