I started my lunch at 11am, 2 toasted sandwiches, an apple, an orange and then remembered I had a magnum in the freezer . So just a light lunch then. I am now stuck in a hot office this afternoon and feel sick.
This week my stomach seems really bloated, too scared to wear tight tops in case anyone asks if I'm expecting. Is anyone else experiencing this?

beanieb · 02/06/2009 16:53

I have bloating, have read it gets worse as the day goes on and then goes back to normal in the mornings. I'm wearing loose tops and mostly trying to cover my boobs without looking like I have joined a nunnery as I have had a few comments about them!

Someone told me my hair looked lovely at the moment, don't know if it's a pregnancy thing.

Thursday can't come quick enough!

dal21 · 02/06/2009 18:19

Hello!

Sazlocks - it was highly emotional, just such a relief! Are you the same as me? Do you work three days a week? I am struggling by Thurs since I have worked two days in row without my midday nap. Cannot believe the days I am home I am sleeping the same as DS. Thank goodness he still takes naps is all i can say!

Starshaker - hope the morning sickness hasnt lasted all day! And you are feeling a little better. My thing is constantly sipping ice cold water. Really seems to help.

Vivcliquot - hope your scan has gone well.

Londonlottie - you're staying! Yay! And dont feel remotely lazy. I am barely managaing to stay on top of day to day household stuff. Why do you think I am posting on here so much! Our bodies are undergoing huge amounts of exertion at the moment, and I for one intend to reserve all my energy until I feel better.

Liny - I totally agree with the advice Marmite has given. Is spot on. Do you remember the whole furore around the time that newsreader signed a huge contract for 5 news and then revealed she was pregnant. There was nothing they could do!

Marmite - Best of luck for tomorrow! It is going to go great!

LOL at Misschatterbox - I am exactly the same as beanieb has said, gets worse as the day goes on. No tight fitting tops at all for me, I am using the hot weather as an excuse; there are so many non maternity floaty tops that I picked up. But am sure people have sussed!

Beanieb - The hair thing is defo a pregnancy thing. Most women get fantastic nails and hair (we stop shedding hair apparently, so it gets so much thicker).
Remind me, do you have a scan on thurs?

Am hoping all the scans went well today.

beanieb · 02/06/2009 18:40

Yes scan on Thursday at 8.30 am! So only 2 sleeps to go and tonight hardly counts!

nervoussara · 02/06/2009 19:53

Hi guys, just going to have a quick moan. Didn't get to have scan today, it's tomorow am now. Pain and spotting is worse so I'm feeling pretty glum
Saw a very patronising midwife today though. Really unhelpful. Think she thought I was a simpleton.
So I'm watching rubbish tv all night and preparing myself for the worst. Well trying to.
Hope scans went well for all the ladies today

sazlocks · 02/06/2009 20:03

Hi dal21 - I think I might be you . I work 3 days a week and when I am not working I am either looking after 16 month old DS, trying to get on top of the very untidy house stuff or completing my dissertation. Luckily my DS also favours a nap in the day and I have been using that precious time to catch a few zzzz's myself.
Thinking I am going to try the ice cold water thing as I have felt pretty wretched all day

sazlocks · 02/06/2009 20:04

xposted when I was typing my message
sorry to hear nervoussara hope you get good news tomorrow

coffeeicecream · 02/06/2009 20:06

Have been out of touch for a few daysas been v worried about scan and jinxing am becoming more superstitious by the day wish could relax and enjoy.
Congratulations and hello to everyone new.

Londonlottie you must stay on this thread we are all just getting to know each other and Huge CONGRATULATIONS ABOUT YOUR TWINS well done you.

Liny I agree with marmitemonster dont say.

INervousara try not to worry i hate patronizing midwives what is their point? and v good luck tomorrow hopefully she wont be there.

I saw little beans heartbeat today it is an amazing wonder and feel so happy. I asked him about lack of symptoms and he said lucky you , every pregnancy is different and dont worry if you feel fine. My EDD is 24 Jan thought i was more than 6 + 2.

Very good luck to everyone else who is having a scan this week.

Biccy · 02/06/2009 20:51

Hello... I am nervously coming along to see if I can join you. Am 6 weeks today, so due 26 Jan. Only just worked out the due date, as am very nervous and have been trying not to get too attached, after 3 early losses (5wks/7wks/5wks)since we started trying for #2.

skidoodle · 02/06/2009 21:16

yay coffeeicecream how wonderful to see the heartbeat. I'm pretty symptom-free too, so good to hear from the horse's mouth it's nothing to worry about. I was sick as a pigeon last time.

I do have one symptom starting to appear though...

ampster I meant to say yesterday - operation No Boob going pretty well. DD was delighted to see her Dad rather than me first thing in the morning (Monday was the first time ever since she was born that I wasn't the first person she saw when she woke up in the morning) and took her bottle of milk (I know, I know I should be using a cup but she can't manage big amounts and I was getting worried about her milk intake )

Anyway, it turns out that BFing may reduce the sore boobs problem of first trimester. Maybe I'm just a little engorged from stopping and it will pass, but I have a feeling I'm going to be sore for a while.

sazlocks you are working, looking after a toddler, and doing a dissertation? Wow, good for you, that is plenty on anyone's plate, never mind the newly pregnant.

marmite your career change sounds really exciting. I didn't know you could do medicine as a grad course. That's a brilliant opportunity.

What a lot of impressive ladies we have here on our Jan 10 thread

nervoussara that is very annoying about not having your scan. Enjoy your rubbish telly and I hope tomorrow comes around soon and everything is fine.

Hi everyone else, hope you are all feeling OK

skidoodle · 02/06/2009 21:19

Welcome and congratulations Biccy

Sorry to hear about your MCs

Hopefully you will be able to get an early scan to set your mind at ease. Lots of the other women on this thread have been scanned already and seen heartbeats and all sorts of brilliant things.

Biccy · 02/06/2009 21:25

Thanks skidoodle, I am too superstitious to even pick up a booking form, let alone send it in... so don't know how early I'll get a scan. It's good to hear people getting reassuring scans at early stages... but I'm happy to wait until I'm past the point where there may be no detectable heartbeat, and yet that not necessarily mean anything's wrong... if you see what I mean?

Hi viv - we met - briefly! - on a conception thread! How was your scan?

Right, off to see what else I can forage for in the kitchen!

noodlesforbreakfast · 02/06/2009 22:28

Hi, would like to join this club - had suspected I was pregnant as was very nauseous but only managed to confirm with a kit tonight. I think my EDD is 25 Jan or around there.

Hello everyone!

Blocka · 03/06/2009 08:50

Welcome Biccy and noodlesforbreakfast and anyone else who I have missed!!

Biccy sorry to hear about your m/c. I have everything crossed for you. I had a m/c at 5wks and I am super nervous about this pg. I even dreamed last night that I had m/c and I had to type a message to you all to let you know! Such a relief when I woke up and it was all a dream.....

I have been getting sharp pains in my lower abdomen if I stand up quickly - is this normal???

Have a lovely day everyone!!

VivClicquot · 03/06/2009 09:27

Hi Biccy and morning ladies

Well, we went for the scan and it appears I'm not as far as along as we thought - there's a definite sac with a yolk (in my, and I quote, "bulky uterus" - how rude!) but no fetal pole as yet, and certainly no heartbeat.

The sonographer has put me in the 5-6 week bracket - so maybe 10 or so days behind where we thought we were. (EDD - now 29th Jan?) She's recommended I go back in two weeks time just to check everything's okay.

She doesn't think there's anything to worry about - she rhinks the reason I'm further behind than we thought is because it's happened immediately after stopping the pill, so I probably ovulated later than is typical. However, there is of course a chance that everything has just stopped there, so another two weeks of nervous waiting here!

It did make it seem real and very exciting though! Yay! Plus if all is okay, then I'm quite relaxed about being a bit further behind as it means I'll be 28-31 weeks when on honeymoon, rather than 30-33.

coffeeicecream hurrah for a heartbeat - am very jealous!

Off to see Girls Aloud tonight. Poor child - I tell you, its induction into the world of crap taste in music starts here!

beanieb · 03/06/2009 10:00

Hi all

San tomorrow and I am absolutely terrified. OH says 'why can't you just be positive for once' which makes me feel a bit crap. Have tried to explain that 8 weeks is a particularly tricky time for a pregnancy. Luckily the scan is early so this time tomorrow I will hopefully have seen the heartbeat.

hi biccy and sorry to hear about your miscarriages.

VivClicquot do they date you from the size? Am wondering now if I will be put back at all, I know my cycle pretty well though and unless the clomid made me ovulate earlier I will be shocked if they do.

Bugger bugger bugger, I just stood up to show my workmate my shirt after she commented on it thinking it was a dress and am pretty sure she saw the hairband I am using to make my trousers fit! I just know that when I tell her she will say 'Oh I knew all along'!

VivClicquot · 03/06/2009 10:16

beanieb - I'm guessing it was by the size. The date of my last period put my EDD at 19th Jan, but the fact there's no fetal pole etc puts me back by approx 10 days, so we're just guessing at 29th for now....

bluespix77 · 03/06/2009 10:19

Vivclicquot glad that your scan went well. I'm currently on the wait from my scan last Tuesday (sac and yolk) to this Friday, it has been quite a long week! But it is nearly Fri, its so horrible waiting! If I had all the money in the world I would go for a private scan everyday to check on the little bean!!

nervoussara good luck with your scan today.

beanieb good luck with your scan tomorrow.

Hey all...room for a (currently) little one one here? Supposedly I'm due to receive my first baby on 10th Jan 2009 (I'm trying to avoid thinking about the connotations of the word 'birth'). I haven't got a clue what to expect from this whole experience as babies were always those screaming things that happened to other people!

lilacpink · 03/06/2009 11:02

Hi All, congrats to anyone new.

Hope the scans coming up go well. Congrats to dal21 and anyone who has had a good scan.

Londonlottie I'm finding the dating part confusing too. I know I must have conceived after 15th April and told the Midwife at my scan that but, as I have long cycles, I think I've been given an earlier EDD than I should have. When scanned I was told it did roughly match-up, but I'm not expecting it to match at my 12 week scan. I was 2 weeks late with DD, and was told by a midwife after that my long cycles may well have had an influence. I'm surprised your time was reduced, if anything I would have thought they'd add a few weeks on as that's what seems to happen when they date from LMP. Maybe it's different for IVF though, perhaps someone else on here wil have an idea.

starshaker I was thinking DS this time, as until recently I hadn't been quite so ill, and no heartburn (which I had with DD). Then this weekend it hit me really hard, Monday felt like I had a hangover and I couldn't move until 2pm. So now I'm thinking DD again. I'm really happy either way, but love thinking ahead to both possibilities. We will def ask at my 20 week scan, as we loved knowing I was having a girl and focussing on girls names.

My DD doesn't sleep in the day (3yrs), so I'm taking advantage of any family help I can get to rest. Hope everyone else is taking care of themselves too.

On the nutritious diet side of things...white bread, potato, cheese, digestives, choc digestives.. at least they're staying down for me!
