Hi everyone,
Booked first midwife appoint today for tomorow. Thought it might help to deal with everything.
Anyway, was feeling queesy at work this pm, hadn't eaten much though. Went to loo and sorry to be horrid but had light brown discharge. Been having cramps for a while too. Doesn't help being so bloody anxious all the time.
Anyway, been to docs and am going for an early scan tomorow. I will be 5 weeks and 3 days. Anyone had a scan that early before or any of my symtoms.
I really want to feel positive about this pregnancy but soooo hard.
x

timmette · 01/06/2009 19:05

Hi nervoussara I had a scan that early with ds and there was a heartbeat - but it is very early to see one I believe.

nervoussara · 01/06/2009 19:19

timmette thanks - I'm just hoping to see a sac. Worried perhaps am miscarrying or eptopic.

This pregnancy thing is just a massive waiting game. Not good for nerves!

Dizzyclarebear · 01/06/2009 19:40

hi all, thanks for your nice messages - feeling much calmer now. I think it was the shaking that scared me the most. I'm def going to ask to lie down for future blood tests.

Must say, thinking back, the nurse seemed more annoyed than anything else, like I was deliberately taking more time than was allocated.

Going to try to stop worrying about stuff I can do nothing about... well, try...

dal21 · 01/06/2009 19:47

Nervoussara - the first 12 weeks are tough, but the best you can do is relax. It is great news that they are sending you for a scan...just be prepared that it may be a little too early to see a heartbeat. Hope all goes well for you - am sure it will.

Dizzyclarebear - glad you are feeling better. I would defo lie down for future blood tests and also warn the nurse in future. Is this your first pregnancy? They can take blood quite frequently during pregnancy, so lying down and taking a little extra time after the tests should not be a problem.

bluespix77 · 01/06/2009 19:58

Nervoussara I had light pink spotting when I wiped (sorry!) last weekend. Went for a scan the Tuesday after bank holiday Monday, they had to do an internal scan as it was so early. There was no heart beat as it was too early (just after the 5 wk mark) but there was a sack and yolk all in the right place. And teh consultant didn't seem too worried by the bleeding as its not bright red and I had no pain. We're going back on Friday for a second scan. The spotting stopped for a few days but came back on Sunday. So we just have our fingers crossed for Friday.

Good Luck for tomorrow.

totalmisfit · 01/06/2009 19:59

dizzy - if your blood sugar was a bit low at the time, that might have caused the shaking as well as the fainting. really hope it's nothing more than that, fingers crossed.

nervoussara - how scary for you, hope the scan goes well. i had a scan at around this stage with dd because i was in agony and there was a heartbeat, but i've heard of plenty of others who had scans at similar times and didn't get a heartbeat until a week or two later. i also had some faint brownish discharge a couple of weeks ago with this pg, and i'm still feeling sick as a dog most of the day, so i presume everythings ok.

I've got my first appointment with the midwife tomorrow (i'll be 6+3) and i'm taking my 3 year old dd with me. It's pretty hard to get anything past her these days, so chances are that she'll have sussed out that i'm pregnant by the time we get out of the surgery .

I thought i might sit her in the corner with the inevitable toys you find in these places and hope the conversation/prodding/dating goes over her head, but i doubt it somehow! Once, dh and i were trying to subtley discuss the shopping list without prompting a pester power moment from her. I whispered and spelled out 'J-E-L-L-Y' and she pipes up straight away 'i want some jelly!'.

Dizzyclarebear · 01/06/2009 20:21

dal21, yes, first go at this!
Totalmisfit - thanks for the tip - I'd had breakfast, but might go for a sugar hit pre next blood test. (oh what a hardship, I'll have to eat chocolate just before going to the doctors...)

laurawantsababy · 01/06/2009 20:21

I was going to go my doctors tomorrow - I am 5 weeks now. Is that too early??

Dizzyclarebear · 01/06/2009 20:24

laurawantsababy - I wouldn't say so, worth getting the ball rolling on all your appointments etc.

beanieb · 01/06/2009 20:26

I'm not sure how early is too early to see the doctor. I am waiting until I have had my scan at the fertility unit, when I am 7 +4, before calling my own GP but I think lots of people go as early as 5 weeks. Have been told the first Appointment isn't very exciting though!

nervoussara · 01/06/2009 20:49

dal21- Thanks for tomorow. I'll let you all know what happens. As lost a baby at 19 weeks 7 years ago my doc is great and is going to be really supportive I hope and hospital has good rep too.
bluespix77- Think I will have an internal scan. I just hope everything is all in the right place too. Just want to get to 12 weeks. I know spotting can be really normal so fingers crossed for us both.
totalmisfit- Hoping everything okay, its reasuring to hear others go through the same. I manage a nursery school, so from my experience 3 year olds have ears and ears everywhere. Bless her!

Lisylou1980 · 01/06/2009 21:00

Hi all
Hope you dont mind me joining i too am due January on the 2nd. Not having good time with this pregnancy though have had every syptom going and the last 2 days been in so much pain so gotta have emergency scan tomorrow

zen1980 · 01/06/2009 21:12

Hey to everyone who has joined ! and of course the rest of you girlies!!

Well apart from extreme tiredness (like i just want to lie down all the time) my symtoms have eased off a bit, a lot less nausea but still sore boobs.

Do you think I need to be worried? Am 8 wks today and even though everything was ok last week i feel a little more anxious. On a more positive note spotting seems to have stopped(zen wispers).

Sorry for the me me me post but not really sure who to speak to as its still our little secret. Have got first appointment with midwife next mon when i will be 9wks so hopefully she will put me at ease x

bluespix77 · 01/06/2009 21:19

Hi Lisylou, glad you can join us. Sorry to hear that you're having a tough time. I really hope the scan goes well tomorrow.

skidoodle · 01/06/2009 21:47

marmitemonster I'm really hungry too all of a sudden. I'd probably eat you if I could get my hands on you

I'd be dangerous if I wasn't so exhausted.

Lisylou gosh that doesn't sound fun at all. More good wishes for your scan tomorrow. Hopefully it can set your mind at rest even if you still feel lousy.

Thanks all for the good wishes re: house move. I just did my first commute home from work and ended up getting in at around 9.20 I'm not sure I'll be able to keep up the long days I've been doing.

I had all sorts of things to reply to you guys while I was at work and sneaking the odd peek. Now I'm home I've forgotten all the activity.

I wish you all nice empty brains without any worries so you can relax this evening at least

PS earlier chat reminded me that I had highlights done a few weeks ago Oh well, too late to worry about it now.

sleepingalot · 01/06/2009 22:46

Hi all, found this website today. Can I join this thread? Am due 13th Jan with first baby after many many years of trying, hoping, poking, prodding and eventually it happened through IVF! Am soooo happy but nervous too!

skidoodle · 01/06/2009 23:13

Congratulations and welcome sleepingalot

I'm due on 13th of January too, with my second.

Pull up a pew and join in our random chatter about all things 1st trimester. We're mostly worrying, yawning, retching, eating everything in sight and being cranky

dal21 · 02/06/2009 08:01

Morning all!!

Totalmisfit - hope your appointment goes well today. Tend to agree with you that your 3yo is bound to pick up on something.

Laurawantsbaby - defo not too early to see your doc. Mine did nothing aside from check blood pressure and agree to share antenatal care between the hospital and the midwife at the GPs surgery. So nothing more than a formality really. But as Beanieb has said, no harm in getting the ball rolling and getting on the radar.

Nervoussara - Best of luck today at the scan. Am keeping everything crossed that everything is absolutely fine.

Lisylou - welcome and sorry to hear that you are in pain. Hope the scan goes well today.

Zen1980 - Hello. I feel very similar to you. The nausea has eased off, last week I just felt constantly grotty - now it comes and goes. I dont think you need to worry at all. Sore boobs is a superb sign and plus you have made 8 weeks (which is one of the first major milestones where rate of MC drops), not as much as at 12 weeks, but it drops nonetheless. My scan yesterday (which can still be a week out at this stage put me back by 4 days). The same happened last time, so currrent EDD is 22/01, 4 days later than I thought...will know more at the 12 week scan.

Skidoodle - am at your commute. I put DS to bed and then crawl into mine not too soon after.

Sleepingalot - welcome and congratualtions. Think skidoodles summary is fairly accurate.

Have good days all. Good luck once again to those ladies going for scans.

sazlocks · 02/06/2009 08:19

morning all
congrats dal21 on hearing the heartbeat - must have been an emotional moment
congrats to new BFPs
nervoussara hope the scan goes ok and it helps set your mind at rest
lisylou - hope everything is ok with you when you have your scan

Woken up feeling like 7 shades of ...... this morning. Off to a music thing with DS in a bit and then will have a nap when he does later on
Am back in work tomorrow for 3 days. One day is a full on team away day so I am not sure how much longer before people start to guess.
Hope everyone gets some chance to enjoy some sun today

starshaker · 02/06/2009 08:44

well the morning sickness kicked in today. I am praying it wont be as bad as with dd. got my first midwife appointment tomorrow so that will be good. cant type much as sitting makes me feel sick and need to take dd to nursery. Oh how i wish i could go back to not having many symptoms

VivClicquot · 02/06/2009 09:23

Morning all

Well, it's the day of my private dating scan, so wish me luck. Still have no symptoms whatsoever so part of me is cxpecting the worse - and then if there is a baby in there, it will be a total bonus!

Flightoffancy - I'm in exactly the same situation as you. First time baby, we weren't even trying - and three weeks ago I ran the Manchester 10km. I'm even more chuffed with my time, now that I know what state I was in!

The only other thing that's worrying me is I suffer from severe eczema and so in the weeks before I knew I was pregnant, I was popping antihistamines three times a day and using max strength Betnovate ointment on my skin. Google tells me this is bad. Very bad. So another string to my already paranoid bow...

laurawantsababy · 02/06/2009 10:33

Good luck vivclicquot - I want a private early scan but dp says no Let us know how you get on.

Im getting quite concerned about how rounded my tummy is now and Im only 5+2. What are the chances of getting an early scan if you suspect twins?

hello,
good luck to all those going through a scan! I have booked my 12 weeks one, 22 of June, so I can not wait...

I need some advice concerning jobs- I am being made redundant end of June (I have known for 6 months so not a surprise..) but I have another interview in a company that might be interested to employ me. The dilema is, do I say anything about being 9 weeks pregnant... let's say they ask me to start in August, well, it will be obvious...
I was tempted to tell them once I had been offered the job, what do you think? anybody has been in that situation?
thanks!
