Hallo everyone. I am due today. Please send strong baby thoughts my way. I felt as if something might be happening last night but nothing this morning. Ive had a really long shower, folded up the laundry, had breakfast and watched some telly, but its only 10.45am . my friend wants go out for lunch but I dont know whether that's such a good idea.

I think I will send dh out on another pineapple hunt. Holly290505 - did you mean would the tea be more effective if you split the bag? I cant see how it would make any difference.

Im sitting here trying to coax this baby out and reminding him every five minutes that its his due date and its just something he's got to do!! I just keep having this worry that he's a monster baby and is not going to squeeze out.

Has anybody else got really swollen hands. I was chopping an onion last night and it felt really painful.

Winge moan winge moan. I think I'll have some hot chocolate.

ABow · 24/05/2005 11:47

Go for lunch or you'll go mad! I'm due on Thursday and have swollen fingers and have completely lost my ankle bones.

Missblossom · 24/05/2005 11:49

Morning all,

How is every one, any more action yet??
Feeling really tired, Luca is a night time baby and just wont settle till about midnight, then sleeps till about 4.

Had my staples out yesterday, feel alot better for that. Still abit stiff though.
Shhh, my spd had gone now ,but my back is still very stiff and painfull.
Did any one else have staples after a ceaserian and are they always bloody painful??
My midwife gave them to me in a little plastic bag as a souvineer.lolol

Tinker · 24/05/2005 11:52

oh, good luck tab and everyone else still waiting -it's no fun at the end is it?

Holly290505 · 24/05/2005 12:09

Tab - I have the RL tablets and it says on the bottle you can split the plastic open and make tea with them instead of swallowing them whole - just wondered whether it might somehow make a difference! Desperation....!

Fingers crossed for you today anyway!

Agree with ABow about going for lunch - i want to go to local county show on Sunday (due date) if nothing is happening cos I can't bear the idea of sitting around thinking about it - problem is dp is terrified of going anywhere public with me - he says its 'not a good idea'...but as yet I can't get him to say why not! (The showground is quite literally next to the hospital and about 10mins from home!)

tab · 24/05/2005 12:26

Thanks for your thoughts tinker, ABow and Holly290505. Now I understand about the tea. Ive got the tea bags and I dont think they taste that bad. Perhaps the pills are more concentrated in the first place. My tea bags say no more than 3 cups a day.

Yes I think youre right. Im going for lunch. Ive packed a mini hand towel and two big maternity pads in my massive handbag along with my maternity notes. You never know!....

Glad you're recovering Miss Blossom. Dont like the sound of those staples! I had stitches last time and I do remember it being very painful when they came out.

Catch up later girls.

Maddison · 24/05/2005 13:45

Hi everyone, just wanted to send you all some positive baby thoughts, it won't be too long for you now.

Tab, I got swollen hands aswell, I had to take my wedding ring off at about 37 weeks because it was getting so tight, now DS2 is a week old and I can almost get it back on.

Hope to see you all on the May 2005 post natal thread soon, thinking of you all (especially as I miss being pg - how weird!)

18mumtobe · 24/05/2005 14:45

sending baby thoughts your way tab, hope something happens for you today.
im due 2moro but not holding out much hope, feeling really horrible today. got a bad headache and feel abit sick.
just fed up of waiting now and can't wait to be not pregnant anymore.

fashill · 24/05/2005 15:43

Baby thoughts to all of us left

18mumtobe - could be the start of things for you!! i've been feeling like that and that's what my midwife said!

My friend had a little boy last night and I really want to be next I think i will miss being pregnant too though

I haven't been able to wear my rings for the last few weeks either, no swelling anywhere else though.

Got my pineapple next to me and kettle boiling for another RLT!

18mumtobe · 24/05/2005 17:41

thanx fashill, i like the sound of that.
ive been eating pineapple every day and ive even tried sex today(even though didn't feel like it, but it will be worth it if it works) had abit of an upset tummy today so hopefully it won't be long but then again it could of just been something i ate. well sending positive thoughts to all of us still waiting (espically those in the late club as ill be joining you if nothing happens 2moro) take care everyone and keep up the pineapple eating and tea drinking maybe it will pay off for some of us soon.

claudi2 · 25/05/2005 08:59

Hello everyone, just sending some positive thought your way ... its not long now ...hope to see you all soon on the post natal thread

shhhh · 25/05/2005 11:16

Any more new arrivals?? I keep checking and hoping ! To those of you who are still waiting good luck it will be over soon.!

Freya is doing well, she lost 1lb after birth but apparently this is usual.? I'm bf and seem to getting the hang of it. My community mw have been so supportive that it's given me the kick to continue and to persever. Freya is brilliant during the day but seems contact on keeping us awake at night, she doesn't yet realise that Mum & Dad need more than 1 hr sleep a night to survive LOL.! Wouldn't change her for the world though .
DH & I are off for our first shopping trip, I want to do it while dh is off so I know what to expect when I go with our little girl.
Anyway hope you are all well and i'm keeping my fingers crossed for successful May births.

tab · 25/05/2005 12:44

Well done with the breastf'ing shhhh - the no sleep element is a real shock to the system isnt it. you're very brave to go shopping this early but its nice that you can go with dh first time.

Well my due date has gone by so Im technically in the late club now! Ive done 4 lots of laundry already to try to keep occupied. If either my mum or dad rings once more to ask if anything has happened - I will explode!!

Any news holly290505,fashill, mumtobe or maymum, samcattie, flying dog, myermay, muppety, littleB, Vic891??

Positive thoughts coming your way.Stil no pineapples in our Sainsbury's yesterday - what's a girl to do. There must be a big demand in South london!! Send me some pineapple thoughts!

Anyway the sun's coming out so maybe that will encourage this bundle and all the others reluctant to make their debut that life outside isnt that bad!!

Good luck everyone.

Noggermum · 25/05/2005 13:20

Haven't logged on for six whole days and see we have had a few more may babies! congratulations to everyone concerned, hope all is well. Commiserations to those overdue or on the home straight - this last bit is truly crap, isn't it?

muppety · 25/05/2005 13:44

Hello. I am back!

Baby Edward was born on 18th May by elective cs although as I said before only got a couple hours notice. They were right though he is a big baby and there was a lot of water. 9lb 5oz!!

I haven't had time to read all the posts. Did anyone else end up with a c section? I have been stunned at how bad the pain is. I am still hobbling after a week and finding not being able to look after ds1 a real shock and very frustrating. I did lose a lot of blood though so am quite anaemic. Much much worse than last time after a vaginal delivery. Feeling pretty fed up that I didn't manage it this time.

Anyway congratulations to everyone and good luck to all you hangers on!

18mumtobe · 25/05/2005 13:50

congratulations muppety and welcome to little Edward.

tab · 25/05/2005 15:05

Congratulations Muppety. Brilliant news! Welcome to baby Edward. Caesarian sounds sore - how long did you stay in hosp? Heres hoping you feel more agile very soon. Congrats again!!

Holly290505 · 25/05/2005 15:28

Its been a funny day! Wept with joy at convincing obstetrician to let me use birth centre rather than labour ward - might even get a water birth if the room is free! (Thought I had snowballs chance due to medical history)

But MUST go into labour spontanously though or that'll be the end of that - won't have you in birth centre after induction. So went for reflexology this morning (seems highly unlikely to do anything but was quite relaxing...) Am taking 6 RL tablets a day (Max dose!) and got pineapple on standby...

Even got shown round the birth centre - dp was so sweet he was nearly in tears seeing all the newborns. Reckon he'll be a blubbering wreck when we get to meet our very own little lady

Am going slowly mad now though at people phoning 'just to check' - its still 4 days til my EDD FGS! MIL is the worst culprit. Jeepers I wish they'd LEAVE ME ALONE!

Anyway feel better for a little rant - and woohoo for the brith centre news

Good luck tab and 18mumtobe and anyone else officially allowed to be fed up (I'm just joining in in advance!) BTW does anyone know whether baby has to be fully engaged before labour? - I am still only 3/5 which is same as last week....

Updated stats for muppety - congrats!

ABow · 25/05/2005 16:10

Congrats Muppety!

I should have introduced myself yesterday - sorry about that. I've only just joined the list. Due 26/5/05. No idea if boy or girl. And if its free I'll use the birth pool but will keep all my options open. I'm sharing Holly29/05/05's happiness at being allowed into the midwives unit rather than the labour ward. Didn't think they'd let me for a while there but convinced the obstetrician I was OK yesterday.

I've been getting those pushing down/ tingling in the cervix sensations since Friday (very strong and uncomfortable but not necessarily painful) and my abdomen seriously tightens up every couple of minutes. Period-type pain kept me awake all night too. I have this dilemma where I feel so fat I want to sit down but I can't seem to sit still for more than a few minutes at a time

I was hoping it wouldn't come today (how does the rhyme go -Wednesday's child is full of woe). But can't wait to hold baby and give it kisses and cuddles. Also getting totally fed up with people phoning and dm is driving round the twist.

I'm going to go to the cinema this eveing. Do you think they'll give me free tickets if my waters break whilst I'm there?

Missblossom · 25/05/2005 17:08

Congratulations muppety, I had a section on the 18th aswell, had my staples out on monday felt alot better for that. Today I had my first outing ( went to tesco )since last tuesday, got rather excited at the prospect of seeing some different faces. Ill be glad to get back in to the swing of things, although it is nice to be waited on hand and foot by dh it does get a bit boring at times.

How is every one else doing?? The weather is warming up again, not good when heavily pregnant.

uwila · 25/05/2005 17:18

Congrats Muppety, but sorry to hear you are struggling with recovery. I had an elective on the 19th, and I actually have found this recovery much easier than the last one -- which still wasn't bad as far as c-sections go. I'm up and about. I don't do much bending over, but I have been picking up the toddler about 5 times a day. Some things just aren't avoidable. If we are out shopping then I have to sit down every twenty minutes or so. But, I'm pretty much able to do normal activity. DH is home from work this week, so there's a lot I don't need to do. Next week will be the test.

Oh, I took arnica this time. I normally am not a big fan of the all-natural remedies. And, I don't knwo if it's really to arnica's credit, but I've definitely recovered faster this time than last.

Hope it gets better soon.

Oh and if it makes you feel any better, my tits hurt like Hell.

Congratulations Muppety!

Myermay, dealing with a toddler and a newborn is easier than I expected BUT dh goes back to work next week so we will see then! Luckily ds is really good with the baby and we are making a huge effort to give him attention when he wants it. He's done extremely well on the present front which helps.

Does everyone know about the Postnatal May thread?? It's here
