Welcome MrsCrunch, I'm in Scotland so can't help you out with what's on in your area! Hope your move goes well.

I'm skiving off at home- had a midwife appt at 2pm and just stayed at home afterwards to 'work' (well, I do live 40 minutes drive from work). The appt went well I think, the midwife showed me how to feel the babys head and bum! I thought the big hard bit on my RHS was the bum but I'd never felt his head, it was quite exciting! I also got to hear his heartbeat which was lovely. They detected leucocytes (sp?) in my urine (high white blood cell count I think) so they are sending it off to the lab in case I have a UTI or something. I feel fine though and no bladder probs other than baby pressing on my bladder. Has anyone else ever had this result from their pee test?

I heard amazing news yesterday, there is a group of women I have met via my fertility problems, 7 of us who meet up every few months or so. We were all needing IVF and the likes and some of the women had failed treatment after failed treatment, it was really heartbreaking. When we all met we had no babies and now between us we have 6 babies and there are 3 current pregnancies! The 2 women who had the toughest time getting PG are now both safely into their pregnancies so I am well chuffed! Just goes to show eh?

soozze · 04/06/2009 18:08

ilike the leg cramps are awful. milky drinks before bed are supposed to help. any excuse for a hot chocolate

Gillyan you're amazing being so calm, i hope all is going well for you today and the baby stays put for a while longer

I don't have a hospital bag packed either yikes. I hadn't thought of 37 weeks as being term - that's only next weekend!

patchybob I wouldn't worry about what your rude midwife thinks, you won't see her at the birth and maybe not again anyway.

phoenix the running out of nappies went quite well for around 4 days. well i say 'quite well' because ds would wear the pants happily but he still didn't see the need to go to the toilet though ! Anyway then he got sick and had a fever for a couple of days so we stopped. I'm hoping to have the energy to start up again this weekend. Trouble is i'm worried I'm wasting my time as I've heard they regress once a baby arrives. He's already curling up in my arms and literally going 'goo goo, ga, ga'. hmmm. he's also announced he'd like the baby to stay in my tummy, not quite sure what to say/do on that.

Hi Mrs Crunch, I'm not near you either but wanted to say hi too

hi everyone, computer is hopefully finally fixed! trying to catch up with everyones news...
GILLYAN hope you're ok, must be very scary time, keep us posted on how you're doing!
hello mrscrunch also nowhere near you but wanted to say hi!
legcramps definately getting those its awful and makes me cry out in bed, much to dps astonsihment!
hospitalbag have mine sort of packed, went to manc for the weekend last week and dp insisted on me taking it just in case!
babynames we thought we'd settled on miles, but after dd let it out the bag and people sarted commenting(mostly good!) we have completely gone off it and baby is currently and will remain nameless! dd has the nickname ned for him as we wanted her to 'bond' with him by giving him a name whilst in tummy, but we are starting to call him ned and think this will end up sticking!
im now 34+ something...im still measuring big about 37 weeks now, but baby is not big and not carrying excess waters but am still
huge! it feels like the top of my abdoman, below my ribs is ripping open, im in agony...my midwife knows how uncomfortable i am she's so lovely, do you think it'd be wroth me asking her on tues if they'd consider giving me a sweep at 38 weeks?
also is anyone taking PREGADAY i was given this by midwife as am anaemic but it was making me vomit 40 mins after taking it has anyone else had a reaction to it?
will be able to keep up properly now (hopefully!) with everyones news!

Phoenix · 04/06/2009 19:54

Gillyan - Hope you're doing ok, keep us posted.

Soozzee - Glad the potty training went sort of ok. Hope it gets better once he is better. My ds keeps saying he wants Noah to stay in my belly too if we tell him off about something. They'll get over it, they have to

Welcome to the thread MrsCrunch . I'm not near London either sorry.

Leg cramps - I got them terribly with ds but this time not so much fingers crossed. It's the worst pain ever.

Lydia - for computer been fixed

Hospital bag - I know i suggested having 2 bags but can someone help me as to what goes in the labour bag for either a natural birth or a c section as i don't know which i'll be having yet.

I've probably forgot loads of stuff i wanted to say

Patchybob · 04/06/2009 20:09

Well I saw the midwife, all geared up for the abuse and it was a different one who was very nice and said that I was doing the right thing!! Only prob is I now have to wait 2 weeks to explain to the other midwife!! Anyway like you said soozee I may never see her again!

This baby is also posterior, which did make me feel slightly better about the c section decision!

Had a nightmare with my car today. Its been making a strange noise for days and after I came out of the midwife appt it was much worse.Got the dc from school and dropped into the garage down the road. The mechanic took it for a spin and told me not to drive it as there is something really wrong with it! DH away and now car less. Joy! Have had to organise friends to take the dc to school tomorrow and don't know when I will get it back Sounds expensive!

Hopefully will have good news tomorrow xx

bozette · 04/06/2009 21:07

Haven't posted for a while as still working full time and feeling quite knackered. 2 weeks and counting!!

Gillyan fingers (and legs!) crossed for you.

MrsCrunch hello,I used to live v.close to balham, am a bit further out now. Its a great place to live, very cool. Its very close to wandsworth common/clapham common and area which is babyville and there are lots of lovely places to go.

washing clothes i have to admit that before DS 1 was born i washed everything, new or second hand with non-biological detergent and sensitive fabric conditioner and continued doing that for about 4 months!!! I think that i'll still wash everythingbut not separately, and largely to help me mentally prepare as it all looks so cute and tiny!!

I got adate for my c-section today!! Monday 13th July!! Makes it all very real somehow.

ilikeyoursleeves · 04/06/2009 21:24

Was just having a nosy at the June thread and there's been a little girl born who they thought was a boy at the scan ie they had seen a willy and everything! (obviously wasn't a willy then LOL)

Phoenix · 04/06/2009 21:33

I know ilike i saw that, scary. It was a 3d/4d scan too

Bozette - Yay for c-section date.

Patchy - I hate cars, hope it's not expensive.

hospital bags - has anyone got any tips of what to pack? anythiin u couldn't have managed without or things u packed but wish u hadn't bothered?

Phoenix · 04/06/2009 21:47

I remember taking some things in that i got in the Bounty pack that you get after the birth. eg. Baby bath stuff, sudocrem, wipes. The only thing with that is you can't guarentee what will be in your Bounty pack

OP posts:
xxhunnyxx · 04/06/2009 21:53

The midwife told me we don't need to take bath stuff etc cos they have it all there. I might just double check with her. I'm actually really lucky cos my mum only lives a 5 min walk from the hospital so if there's anythin I need she can always go to Mothercare/Asda etc and bring it to me

ilikeyoursleeves · 04/06/2009 22:10

Hunny I have a list somewhere for what I took in last time but TBH if your mum is near the hospital and if you have visitors you don't need to worry about forgetting anything. eg, my DS was tiny so didn't fit the nappies or clothes I'd brought in but MIL went out and got us tiny baby clothes.

I'd say take things like nappies, maybe a wee bottle of baby shampoo (your baby might not even get a bath though if you are out quickly), don't think you'd need sudocrem (I only use it if there is a rash), also I didn't use wipes on DS for ages cos they have really sensitive skin, water and cotton wool is the best (hospital may have this). Take some huge sanitary pads although my hospital provided these too, it's prob worth checking out what the hospital have so you don't need to take things in unecessarily.

Ummm, clothes for you and baby, for you take 2 nighties (one to give birth in and one for after), I got cheapo ones from Primark with front buttons for BFing, they were fab! Also get some cheap big pants, don't buy crappy paper disposables! Take some day clothes for you (comfy things like joggy bottoms etc). Baby will need a few vests and babygros and if you like a nice going home outfit. I took some paper and pen and wrote down my experience of labour, you quickly forget the details and it's funny reading back now. Um what else... some boiled sweets to suck through labour, lip balm as gas and air can make your lips a bit dry (although I didn't find this), hairbands to tie hair back, some nice toiletries, can't think what else really but will let you know once I find my list!

I've not even started getting things for my bag so better get a move on! BTW I also took my ipod and mags but I didn't use either of them, too busy having a baby!

Oh and most importantly- your camera!!!!! (amke sure it's charged)

QueenFee · 04/06/2009 22:23

Hi
sorry I can't now remember all the things I wanted to reply to but will do my best!
hosptial bag I was very glad I had already got mine packed last night when I fell down the stairs Don't really know how it happened but it's left me all battered and bruised today Went in to be checked over last night and all seems ok.
I was checked again this am as I had my consultant appointment over which I am still When I was in last night no fewer than 4 midwives said I was measuring 37/38 weeks. However the consultant this am said oh no you are fine for your dates . She also tried to argue that with DS I only had a second degree tear - yeah right whatever. Thats prob just written in my notes as I was stiched on the ward and you are supposed to got to theatre for 3rds. The best I have got out of her is to give me sweeps from 39 weeks and not to let me go over so have an induction for 10th july booked (3 days over). I was not happy this morning! I need to have a think and see if I am happy about this or not as my head is buzzing now. On the bright side no more than 37 days till I have this baby
activity thanks for the advice re swelling
cars I am annoyed that my car took one look at the heat and the air con stopped working!

lydia I have this reaction to loads of tablets. I found it is ok if I take them immidiately after food. Otherwise I am sick within minutes of taking them.

breastfeeding anyone who is intersted in breastfeeding there is a nice new DVD out about it. It is available free from your midwife and is called bump to breastfeeding. There is a link to the internet version here
hth
Sorry it's so long tonight!

rubyriley · 04/06/2009 22:50

Gillyan Hope you are ok today and WOW what a shock it must have been for you. I've had lots of BH too and also had a couple of period type aches below bump just on one side. No other symptoms though, but your experience makes me think that you just never know. Sure your baby will be just fine and I'm very excited for you!!

I don't think I've said, but I finally stopped riding my old horse (but don't tell her I called her old). Ria's 23 and I've had her since she was 6. My midwife said if I've always ridden, then to carry on for as long as I felt comfortable, as long as I just plod about, then it's good exercise for me. I've even trained her to take me back to the mounting block at end of ride so can step onto it and push myself off. Anyway, time has flown by and now in my 36th week, get a stitch type pain under my bump, which no longer eases, and the front of the saddle rubs on my bump. No longer pleasurable, possibly not for Ria either though I have tried to keep her active with gentle exercise as I feel this is good for general well being. Next time I get on, I'll be a recovering 3rd time mum!! Maybe bit sore in the undercarriage department

Feeling all our births are approaching ever faster and can't wait to hear all the good news! Good luck to everyone and OMG, MUST get my bag organised!!

woollyjo · 05/06/2009 10:44

MW has just delivered my home birth kit (think yellow swing bin full of stuff). All seems very real now!

xxhunnyxx · 05/06/2009 13:05

Thanks ilys my list of things to pack was pretty much the same so it's good to know I'm on the right lines.

Hope you're ok after your fall queenfee sorry to hear you've had a bit of a nightmare with the midwives and consultants.

ruby I can't believe you've still been riding up until now. I've been waddling for months but maybe that's cos I've been a lazy cow and done virtually no physical exercise for the last 8 months lol.

It's my last day at work today and the girls have bought me a HUGE bunch of flowers, I'm really touched cos I really didn't expect anythin, I thought I only got a present when baby is born.

LargeGlassofRed · 05/06/2009 16:38

queenfee, sorry to here about your fall, I'm glad your ok.
patchpob hope the car's ok.
I'm pretty organised now have my bags packed even found a t shirt for dp to wear afterwards 'I'm the daddy'

I bought him a fathers day card too from the bump
I really hope i've had them by then though.
I asked the midwife on thursday when I could have a sweap? she said oh not till 40+3 , I asked if they could do it earlier for twins? and she said 'oh no we can't do it before then'
I have a consultant appointment on the 15th so will ask then.
Hope everyone else is ok? how are the other twin mummies feeling?

hobbgoblin · 05/06/2009 17:34

Hi everyone!

Hospital bags, yes! Er, must pack, even though not planning a hospital birth. I have carrier bags full of baby clothes and breast pads, etc. strewn all round the house!

Hope Gillyan is okay as we've not heard for a bit...

Patchy, the BP was fine after I got it checked today. Thanks for posting on my other thread. I have ketones in my urine for the second time so I need to keep an eye on what I eat and try and not overdo things, apparently.

I'm sooooooooo tired and have last minute heartburn which is stopping me sleeping.

I too expect there will be some announcements soon! Is all very exciting.

Phoenix · 05/06/2009 17:56

I've just more or less packed my hospital bag. 6wks today is my due date

Has anyone mix fed (breast and formula) their other babies? How do you do it? What times are best for breast and when for formula? I'm only wanting to do it for a few weeks before moving fully onto formula.

OP posts:
rubyriley · 05/06/2009 18:13

Thanks for the list Phoenix; I'm going to be very lazy and just copy yours!

Queenfee I think I left my message after reading the last page (brain completely gone!)so hadn't read about your fall but do hope you're ok and it's amazing how resilient our bumps are isn't it.

SO pleased the weather's cooler; nice to see blue skies but how hot did we feel!? (moan, moan, moan )

LargeGlassofRed Can't believe you're allowed to go to 40 weeks with twins!! I'm showing my ignorance but I thought multiple births tended to deliver earlier than that. You must feel humungous as I'm like a hippo, just carrying 1!! Well, feel as though my body's "normal" with a large bowling ball stuffed down my t shirt.

Gillyan Have you been & had your baby on the quiet........ If not, good luck to you and let us know how you are/post a piccie of your LO when you're able to?

Hi everyone, I haven't posted for sooo long, apologies for not replying to anyone personally.

I have finally finished work and I'm looking forward to some rest! I am desperate to 'nest' so think I will start tidying and sorting baby things this weekend. We have been trying to sell our house but no luck so far so babies will definately be coming home here now.

I could possibly have babies in just 20 days as we have a potential c-section date of 25th June. Both babies are growing well and I feel like an elephant - I can't sleep and have been boiling hot this week. I have got a consultant appt next week so hopefully I will know the plan for certain then.

I have managed to pack a bag for hospital...just want to get some sweeties to put in then I'll be good to go!
