My BH have also eased off thankfully.

I can't cope with this heat at all. NONE of my shoes fit so I have blisters all over my feet and been shoe shopping for some others and they just get longer not wider.

becca hope the growth scan goes ok and that the placenta has moved up.

I have my consultant appointment on thursday and poss growth scan. 9am means we have to be out of here for 8 15 with 2 kids schools closed as it's being used for polling.

Sorry i'm a bit whingy today!

Phoenix · 01/06/2009 21:54

Updated on my list ilike . BTW I really like Zach Alexander

I haven't packed a bag but i have started buying a few bits for it and put them all together in the spare room.

I've washed all the newborn clothes, grobags, sheets and towels but still need to wash the 0-3 stuff in case this is a big baby. I also need to buy some travel cot sheets cos we're planning on using that once he's too big for the moses basket. Oh and i need some arnica if i get the elective c section. After those few things i'm pretty much all ready, just need my baby

Thanks for that c-section thread Patchy, it's very interesting and i've wrote a small list of things i'd like if i do get a planned section. My last section was so rushed and unplanned that we have no photos of ds in the theatre which i really regret . I didn't know you could ask for things like that for a section.

Hello ladies! Just popping in to say GOOD LUCK before any of you lot start popping yourselves Must be a nightmare being due soon in this heat. I just remember sitting watching Casino Royale in the cinema when due with DD in late November in Aberdeen, and all the audience were in coats and scarves. I was in a strappy top and seriously considering taking that off (the v. unsexy nude coloured bra I was wearing put me off!).

I'll be keeping a good eye out for news on this thread - I really hope that all goes well for you all.

Got my 20 week scan in 3 weeks

I washed my big bag of baby clothes this weekend - just need to iron them now!! Eeek!
But they are soooooo tiny ... sooooo cute.
Am starting to stress about packing a bag and I'm only 32 weeks - want to be early with this one and not 2 weeks late like last time. May take up jogging or trampolining or something .....

JLo2 · 02/06/2009 10:02

Morning all
Have been away for a few days down to Devon and has taken me ages to catch up on all the posts I can definitely recommend the sea breeze in this weather, it was lovely. The DC's were blissfully happy on the beach all day long and the only thing I had to worry about was being mistaken for a beached whale
Christiana I only packed my bag this week so that we could take it away with us just in case. Really didn't want to do it, but DH insisted! Now it's done I can forget about it. I would recommend packing yours this week as I nearly got caught out by DS2 who arrived at 37 weeks. The only reason I had a bag packed then was that he had tried to arrive a fortnight earlier. I had gone to the hospital for monitoring with just my small handbag and ended up in the delivery suite!
I have been having lots of Braxton Hicks for about 10 weeks now, although I probably shouldn't be surprised as it's DC4. For me they are uncomfortable rather then painful and last for about a minute. They do make me take a sharp intake of breath. I get them a lot in the car - made for uncomfortable 5 hour journey to Devon.
Really need to think about jotting a few things down on my birth plan.....

scully · 02/06/2009 11:17

Don't worry ilys, I also haven't packed my bag (have bought most bits for it though) or washed more than a few babygros Have unpacked all the newborn clothes and at least know which bag the 0-3mths clothes are in now.
Main thing I really need to do is buy the new mattresses for cot and moses basket. As the cot sizes are different here to UK, and our stuff has all come from the UK, I need to have both mattresses made as special orders.
You have my sympathy with the heat, although 27deg doesn't read as hot, I know it feels warm over there after a long winter. That's why I struggled through Dec, Jan and Feb here, when the temp was over 30deg every day with humidity, and no-one knew I was pregnant until beginning of Feb the cinema is a good tip, did that a few times with the dd's, just to cool down.
Did a hospital tour last week with dh. Have used various other areas of the hospital but not the maternity area. Looks great, I should get my own room and the delivery suites are huge. Even dh left saying it had a homey feel about it.
Forgot to ask the m/w on Monday if they worry about birthplans here, hasn't been mentioned yet. dh will know what I want anyway, was happy with how dd2's birth went so will follow along the same plan, if I can.
Seeing a consultant on Tues, so depending on what he/she is like, will ask them.
Only 6 days left at work

Misspaella · 02/06/2009 12:02

Afternoon everyone
I am loving this weather! Yes it is a bit uncomfortable pg wise but at least I can entertain my DC's easily in the garden.

I have started to pack a few things for hospital. I still have 5 weeks but don't want to get caught out. I still need to pack DC's bags too as they will be sent to PIL when I go into labour.

Oh I wonder who is going to give birth first?!? Not long now....it's getting very exciting.

Enjoy the sun everyone. It is set to cool down from tomorrow.

plot2 · 02/06/2009 12:13

Hello all

christiana good question re: Vit C and breastfeeding. I am seeing my consultant tomorrow so will ask.

I have my 12th (!) and hopefully final scan tomorrow. Sick of them now. I will hope to know for certain which way this birth is going to go so at leat I can prepare.

Thanks for the tip on the c-section thread Patchy I also found this www.babychums.com/?p=1519. I'm going to have a long discussion with consultant about all the options. TBH I'm pretrified of a c-section, have visions of either me or baby not surviving, don't know where my fear comes from.

Haven't organised a thing yet except lovely pedicure on Mon must get focused!!

I will plan a big cook up for freezer and getting bag, baby clothes and persuade my friend to return my crib rather than me doing the hour long drive to her.

Have a good day all and try and stay cool.

ilikeyoursleeves my 'to do' list is pretty similar to yours except I also have to get the pram and cot paid for and picked up and we might have a slight problem with that! I have paid my half of the account and my ex is supposed to be paying the rest except he's not been working for the last couple of weeks and now his boss has gone any holiday for 2 weeks so he that's another 2 weeks that he wont get paid and then it's unlikely that he'll have a job lined up for the week that he gets back so basically he prob wont get any money for at least another 4 weeks...and baby is due in 5 weeks! I wanted everything paid for and at home by about 3 weeks before as I just have a 'feeling' that this baby is gonna be early. Looks like my mummy might be having to help me out with money since baby's Dad is a waste of bloody space! Poor baby!

Just had a strawberries and cream frapaccino from Starbucks..I'd highly recommend them, just what u need to cool you down on a day like this. Plus it's full of calcium (any excuse) lol

mickeylou · 02/06/2009 13:29

Hi everyone - its just taken me sooo long to catch up on everyones news. hope you are ok under the circumstances belgrano

i have 4 more weeks at work and am so ready to finish now! just wish the time would go quicker..

i had my second consultants appointment yesterday and actually got to see him this time. to be honest i was shocked by how easy it was. he asked me why i wanted a section, i told him, he said yes and got his diary out all in the space of about 5 minutes.

very strange that i now know that my daughter is going to be born on the 14th July 2009!!!! cant wait to see her! could you please bump me up the list phoenix?

i'm now going to check out that section thread you were discussing as i know nothing!

take care everyone xx

How is everyone getting on with names for their new babes? I really like Zach and Issac btw.

queenfee have you decided on another Welsh name? You made me laugh with your book of unprononcable Welsh names as I have an Irish version!

We have both Welsh (dh's side) and Irish (my side). DD is Megan so I wanted to give a nod to the Iriah side this time.

Can't believe how hard we're finding it to agree on something. Poor mite might end being called Bob!!!

mickeylou · 02/06/2009 16:20

i'm still struggling for a name. each time i think i have one i go and change my mind again.

i think the main problems is i love the name Ruby but a close friend has used it already and i dont feel i can pinch it iykwim. i also like Ava but DH doesnt

my shortlist at the moment is:

Poppy
Heidi
Holly

quite set on Grace as a middle name - i know its overused but i know she is coming on a tuesday now and isnt the old rhyme "tuesdays child is full of grace??"

Phoenix · 02/06/2009 16:37

We are 100% decided on Noah, i absolutely love it.

Middle name will be Rhys but i don't love it. Dh wanted Rhys as his 1st name but i said no but am allowing it for his middle name

Ds1 is Lewis James and we came up with his name quite easily because my great grandma was Louisa and she passed away a few weeks before i found out i was pg with him so i wanted to name the baby after her.

OP posts:
Cheekycel · 02/06/2009 16:40

Hello All!

We have 2 names that we liked from the beginning and which have kinda stuck ie, Sophia & Grace. We keep coming up with new ones but nothing seems to fit as nicely. At one point it was even Sophia-Grace, but think thats too much of a mouthful for a little person

Cant use either as a middle name, as traditionally baby would have an African middle name arghhh, i just want the perfect name!

Ive been following the June thread, and its so exciting following everyone's symptoms (?) and knowing that sooner than we can even imagine we'll be following down the same route

Have washed all the newborn & 0-3 month bits, which my gran thinks is the silliest thing ever, "i didnt wash anything beforehand, and my 6 were fine" Chest of drawers is up, cot is up, just need to get some nice bedding. Hospital bag is just about packed, just need to add some snacks etc.

Had MW appointment yesterday, BP still up and still a trace of protein in urine, but she doesnt seem overly concerned.

Am drained by this weather, normally love the sun, but still have 1 and a bit week to go till im on ML and the journey is just killing me! Also, finding something to wear that actually still fits comfortably is a nightmare. have about 3 outfits that im "mixing & matching" at the moment.

Other than that, hehe, i have no complaints .

Have a lovely evening ladies xx

Cheekycel · 02/06/2009 16:42

Phoenix Noah was on my boys list, think its a really strong name, and love Rhys as well. Ezra was my second choice.

chellebelle · 02/06/2009 17:07

Hello all, went away to Cornwall for the week last week and had a lovely time. I don't really ike the beach (I hate how sand gets absolutely everywhere but the kids had fun and at least they were entertained easily so I could just sit, build a few sand castles and do a flippin good impression of a beached whale .

We have officially decided on Alysia Kaitlin for a name, we already have Michael John, Emily Grace and Isaac James so think it'll fit quite nicely Took DH ages to come around to Alysia but as DD has been referring to the baby as Alysia he's eventually got used to the idea

Cheeky am so with you on feeling drained by the heat. I usually love it and would always much prefer to be hot rather than cold but the afternoon heat is zapping me completely.

I feel like I have absolutely nothing organised but think it's more that as this is number 4 I really don't need to organise much. Have borrowed a moses basket from a friend as ours was knackered after being kept in our manky loft at our old house, don't need a new pushchair as already have a P&Ts with double kit and accesiories and all the kit that goes with it, already have car seat etc and have a load of hand me down clothes that just need a quick wash and put away. Need to buy DS2 a new bed so that this one can have his cot (especially as he's just learned how to climb out of it on his own!) and sort out their room but as am not expecting to put this one in with the other 2 until she's at least 3 months old and night feeds have finished I guess I just don't feel the need to rush. Am planning a home birth again so need to buy some floor coverings but as am not having a birthing pool this time (didn't get to use it with either of the last 2 in labour itself) am not overly worried about getting stuff sorted for that. I am only 33 weeks so still feel like I have ages left anyway, maybe when we hit July I'll feel a bit more urgency

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the weather (while it lasts) x x x

BonzoDoodah · 02/06/2009 17:20

cheeky I really like the name Sophia - it was my great-grandmother's name. It was on the list for DD but didn't make it. We have names on the list for this one ... but keepignthem close to my chest - my version of superstition I suppose

Arg - need to buy the doubles kit for my Phil and Ted's ... anyone know where's cheap?

Had enough today - can't get commdfortable on this work's chair - even though it is a top-of-the-range computer chair. I just must have been stuck in it for too long. Legs feel leaden.

chellebelle · 02/06/2009 18:03

Bonzo my friend recently got herself a P&Ts Dash and got it mega cheap from this place cause they do price match, think they're quite cheap anyway though. Which P&Ts have you got?

We are sticking with Isla for a girl - I have since found out that it can also be short for Isabella. DH gran was Isabella and passed away last year. So on the same note my Gran passed away this year and was called Catherine (Kitty) so we have decided to give it a middle name of Kate. So Isla Kate for a girl. However if it's a boy we are stuffed as we still can't decide! I personally don't like babies being it once they are born so we had better get a move on

Does anyone know at what point swelling becomes a problem? My hads and feet possibly other places too are so swollen I think I may have to get my usually too big rings cut off

Gillyan · 02/06/2009 20:38

Hi everyone - just wanted to quickly update you all.

I went into early premature labour on Sunday afternoon. Have come home today at 4pm.

They have given me medication to try and slow the contractions which were coming every 2-3 mins. They ususally give you the tablets to slow the labour just long enough to let 2 lots of steroid injections to take effect. I have had two shots 24 hrs apart and it takes 48 for the srteroids to have the best effect. I was 34 + 3 when I went in. They said if she was born now she would need to go to the Spwcial care Baby Ubit (SCBU) and would probably need help to keep warm, breathe and maybe need tube feeding. It all depends how big she is.

I went in hospital at 6pm sunday adter 2 waiting 2 n half hrs at home. They put me on the monitor and the contractions were increasing until 1am when the meds took effect and slowed everything down, over the next 12 hrs they went to 8 mins apart. I've come home today and am having them every half hr or so and they are not hurting and lasting very long. The doc has sent me home with 4 days worthof tablets as they seem to be working well. After the 4 days the contractuions will either come back in which case they won't try to stop them and I'll be 35 + 2. So I'll have to give birth. Or they might not come back now. Who knows!

Babies heart rate was fine throughout and she is 3/5 engaged si don't thik it'll be long but I've had the steroids now so she stands a good chance if she does come in th next few days.

Hope you are all well, I'll keep you posted

QueenFee · 02/06/2009 20:46

Hope it is all well for you Gillyan. Scary how quickly things can happen isn't it.
