Here we go lasses

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Dandy Think the 'intruder' was just patrolling the boards at 4am and was letting
Reggie know she wasn't alone.

ladyhelen I'd get the discharge checked out. Green colour rings bells and might be an infection you want to get sorted before birth, especially if it is ahem a little smelly.

Looby Yay well done! Thanks for letting us know chocolate.

Chocolate [stern face and finger wagging] have you got your bag packed yet? I've still not completely got my things together. One less thing to worry about though if you have. Good luck with all the wedding shenanigans.

Jennster · 23/04/2009 11:00

Blotted sorry missed you there. Poor thing! Is anybody helping you with the dc?

Belgian I'm waiting 'til we've got a central heating system installed and working before I start nipple stimulation. It really works for me too.

Took the dc to nursery this morning, but got there a little later than usual. Turns out the older children were going swimming. Dd got really upset because she wants to go too but they don't have enough places. We have to wait until September. It broke my heart because it's our fault she didn't get put on the list because we didn't read the newsletter properly. Ds was screaming as I left (which he never does for dh) and there was me trying to hold back tears. Anyway I went swimming too and found they were at the same pool. I'm crying thinking about it now. I'd take her myself but can't take one without the other. Weekends at the pool are a nightmare. Really busy.

Thanks for the good wishes. I've decided to mop the floors later to try and help things along, although watching DS on the trampoline this morning I'm wondering if that might work better! The sweep is at 3.30, so time to kill...

Belgian when I breastfeed DS is quite often sets of braxton hicks. I think it probably started around 36 weeks, so there is probably something clever going on with my body as obviously it would have been pretty rubbish if breastfeeding set off BH really early. Our bodies are amazing, aren't they?

Looby well done you!

I had my letter from the Head of Midwifery confirming that baby won't have to go to SCBU unless there are concerns about his blood sugar. I can put the letter in my green notes as evidence to wave in front of them if they start getting iffy about it, so I am very relieved. I also had confirmation that my health care in pregnancy grant will be paid within 7 days, hurrah!

1stMrsF · 23/04/2009 12:03

Ooh I got the HiPG this week too. Got it paid into my account and have not mentioned to DH yet...

Great to hear from Looby and hope that we hear from Reggie today too.

llare good luck for sweep later.

There is something very hard digging into my tummy just to the left of my (over stretched) belly button. Wish whichever baby it belongs to would move it as it's very sore, a bit like having someone's elbow digging into you for hours at a time...

Blottedcopybook · 23/04/2009 12:37

Jennster Yeah hubby's off today so I'm still in bed and able to try and take it easy for a bit x

ladyhelenatealltheeggs · 23/04/2009 13:18

Just back from a picnic in park with DS - I was desperate for the loo!!

Great news from looby!

sausagenmash · 23/04/2009 13:28

Congrats to Looby!! Hope all is going well with Reggie as well.

Belgian - wow - v re your photos! They are gorgeous!

PMSL at all the MIL phone calls! My MIL to be called the other day at 5.30pm - she now knows I'm on ML - was asking 'oooh how long have you got left? Whens the due date? Let me write it on the calendar'.... eh? 1st grand child and she didn't know when its due?! Honestly.

My nephews (aged 5 and 8) told my Dad the other day that they would like a boy cousin, please, and if its not, can they have a dog instead? Hm. Shame its a girl (although not for me) - although if its anything like recent scans, who knows??!!!

detsy · 23/04/2009 13:59

Come on come on, where are the next babies??

Been out for reflexology (bliss) - now back to newsletters and other guff. Just eaten pate on baguette for lunch - how naughty is that.

Folded more teeny stuff this morning and am aiming to get moses stuff washed, dried and ironed before the day is done.

DPs birthday on saturday and nothing organised - no present no card etc. I'm normally v good but its all soooo much hassle. Guess tomo is therefore accounted for.

Got an architect coming roubnd at 330 today to have a look at extension possibility - we're very excited but timing is a bit out

Right off to work.....

detsy · 23/04/2009 14:01

belg your pics are lovely, also v jealous and am considering getting DP to set up similar with bed sheet, torch and small digital camera..... Doubt it would work quite so well tho!!!

frazzledoldbag · 23/04/2009 14:06

Hi all just popping on quickly as desperate for a nap (exhausted beyond belief today for some reason).

CONGRATULATION ON YOUR LITTLE PINK ONE LOOBY!
WELL DONE WELL DONE WELL DONE!

So exciting about the other possible deliveries too.....can't wait to hear.

Well my big (not really) news today is that DD2 has woken up with chicken pox which is a right bummer! Means she can't go to nursery for a week and I can't get anything done. Poor little chicken is ok with it so far, have just got her to sleep with the help of some Piriton as she's a bit itchy. At least she's got in now though and not when I've just given birth - that would be worse - a newborn with the pox is probably not recommended.

Anyway am goiing to snatch a few mins zzzzzz while I can as can hardly stay awake - too much nesting in the past few days I think!
Good luck all you labouring/showing/leaking ladies. Am going to try to hold mine in until the pox has gone.
(although dreamt last night I had the baby and it had a full beard! Gross).

frazzledoldbag · 23/04/2009 14:07

oh and by the way am going to put my mob no on our secret site later in case anyone wants to txt me or anything at any stage. I might take a note of a couple of yours so can txt any news! I noticed yesterday that lots of you had done it already. x

frazzledoldbag · 23/04/2009 14:09

oooh detsy i'd love some pate.....any left?
Could have sent DH round to give you some ideas for extension - if only we weren't so bloody far away!

Belgianchocolates · 23/04/2009 14:16

detsy It's a plain net curtain you need really, a white wall and hmm, all that backlight was later added on the computer. She also said she'd make my skin look better once I've chosen the pics I like. Just like a celeb, hey

I've been out to get my new sunglasses and then to have a look at h&m to see if there's anything more summery and in the sale, but nothing. I did buy 2 nursing t-shirts, because I find their nursing t-shirts actually quite nice, they're just cross-over, rather than obvious buttons, IYKWIM.

Also went to the library and there never seems to be a free disabled spot lately when I want to go. So I have to park miles away, drag the books along (well, in my back pack) at snails speed. I'm absolutely knackered now and I don't feel up to anything else for the rest of the day. I was out for 3h, I'm sure that if I weren't pregnant with SPD I could have done it all in half that time. I also kept seeing 'normal' heavily pregnant women around, I felt soooo . Just walking along without pain, carrying things etc... Funny how you miss simple things if you can't do them anymore.

llare It is amazing how our bodies work. I bf my ds while I was pregant. He self weaned when I was about 18 weeks and I never felt anything. But afterwards BF used to set off the most horrendous afterpains. In a way I suppose it's the same thing as nipple stimulation to set it all off, same body part, same hormones at play.

Belgianchocolates · 23/04/2009 14:22

DH promissed me that our extention would be finished before dd was born. In the end she was 2.5y and now (she's 5) they're finally putting the finishing touches to it: i.e. rendering the outside and adding our porch + extra meter to the garage. I've told dh that when we move down to Kent it needs to be in a house that doesn't need extending. It's our 2nd extention in our 2nd house and I'm fed up with having builders around all the time.

Gert2a · 23/04/2009 15:32

Looby wow - well done. So very happy for you.

Llare thinking of you and your sweep.

This is all just so exciting!

My optimistic hope of getting the curtains I was making yesterday up by dusk yesterday was optimistic, however, I am very proud to say that they are now hung. They look rather splendid and I am ridiculously pleased with my self. Couldn't have made them better if I'd have measured them to fit!!! My late Grannie who's sewing machine I was using was obviously looking down on me and helping with the sewing for her great grandchild!

Have got my feet up and my task for the afternoon is to stuff a bra for my morris dancing, mandolin playing, whilst dressing as a woman to do so, father in law. I am lucky girl to have such bonkers and lovely in laws!

llareggub · 23/04/2009 16:04

Gert lol at your morris dancer FIL! I love morris dancing!

I'm back from my sweep and the baby's head is engaged and I am a whole 1cm dilated. Woo hoo! The sweep was a tad uncomfortable but no worse than a smear so all in all not bad at all. The MW was positive about potential progress so I am hopeful that the induction, at the very least, will be successful.

Have had a show too, so things are definitely moving along nicely.

emmabemmasmom · 23/04/2009 16:16

Looby Whey hey!!! Congrats Oh, this is getting so exicting! Feeling like we should start placing bets lol Very happy for you...can't wait to hear the story!

Llare Also, hoping your sweep goes well! Just wondering, regarding HiP grant...when did you apply? Just trying to figure when I might get mine lol

Belgian Very nice pictures I have always wanted to do something like that. You should be very proud you had the guts unlike some people (ie: me)
Also, sorry to hear about your hard day! I cannot imagine what it is like for you. I moan everyday just with normal stuff. I can't think what it would be like to have to do what you do. Not long now though!

Well the midwives came today. All went well. I cannot have baby in my bed though as my room is to small I guess...although I think it is quite big considering we have a huge cot and everything, I can see thier point. It did freak me out a little when they went through everything that could go wrong and you should have seen DH's face. I think he was wanting to sign me up for the hospital right then and there. Well it is a plan after all...just a plan...

Then in the middle of all that the plumber shows up to replace my sink on the wrong day! So had to watch DD, talk to midwives and deal with plumber. DD dropped the toothbrush holder in the sink and somehow managed to put a hole in the sink! Don't ask...

So been a crazy day...don't feel like cooking...so I won't! They can fend for themselves tonight right?

Hope everyone else is doing well...will try and catch up on some more news later!

minimenace · 23/04/2009 16:18

Llare Fantastic news about the positioning !! glad the sweep wasn't too bad - it all sounds very positive and could all get started naturally before the induction on Tuesday. Fingers and toes crossed for you keep us updated

My sweep is on Tuesday and don't feel so nervous now. I'm off out with the girls for a curry tonight - not sure if I can brave a hot one though

Tummum · 23/04/2009 16:29

Llare great news on the sweep. If you are 1cm already that's great news and 1cm less to have to do !!
ebsmom great news that HB is still ok

I went to bump/baby coffee morning with 15 babies... eeek ! Freaked me out tbh, but hoping the presence of other babies might persuade the LO out !

Wonder how dived and Reggie are doing. Also worrying not heard from Jael either.

Tummum · 23/04/2009 16:30

Also Blotted any news from your appt this pm??

sausagenmash · 23/04/2009 16:34

Ooooh Llare how exciting!! Woohooo!

Am very about all these goings on. I've got ages yet!! Boooo.

detsy · 23/04/2009 16:54

Ohhhh llare good stuff girl, oodles of time before Tuesday - may be the time to jump on DH and demand some natural hormones...

tum Am very worried about Jael too bit strange that heard nothing, am sure she was booked for a section today?? Hope she is ok.

Frazz yes pls to extension offer - why the bloody hell you have to live in Dundee god only knows!! Also have you checked about the pox with CMW, I read/heard somewhere that in utero babes can catch it if you have no immunity - bit daft really as not a lot you can do but maybe there is a vaccine or something - am sure belg will know

belg off to find a net curtain now.....

No one responded to my considerable movement pain burrowing out fanjo queries - see if i care, i'll just struggle on solo then.

Donw my newsletters, not that anyone will think I've been good or anything ,

Am off now to play with my wardrobes...

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 23/04/2009 16:54

All v exciting on here

Llare - 1cm dilated sounds good to me!

detsy - we've just had our extension plans back from the architect. They look fab. Just need to work out how to finance it now!

Blottedcopybook · 23/04/2009 16:57

That's me just back

Dr thinks the neck issue is muscular but DH told her I had a visual disturbance on Tuesday so she checked my BP (fine) and my urine (++ for protein) and made me go to daycare. By the time I got there by BP had gone up so that combined with reduced movements from baby meant I got slapped on a foetal monitor for an hour. Baby is absolutely fine, I am a wreck! I have to go back to the midwife AND Doctor on Monday with a view to booking induction.

I don't know how I feel about it. I felt like a homebirth was a long shot right from the start, but I'm kind of pleased that I won't be pregnant for ever and ever now. Especially since the DCs are fighting and bickering right now and I can't foresee there being a point where I can serenely give birth in this house.
