frazzledoldbag · 21/04/2009 21:31

BTW am happy to make everybody cocktails - champagne based of course!
and when i say DH brought me dinner I mean he cooked it for me then carried it to where I'm reclining on the sofa watching the TV whilst wrapped in a furry throw. Oooooh I'm so spoilt! DH has declared that Hector (Sunday name) to be called Tor on a daily basis will do fine. Hmmmmmm. That is very decisive of him, Now, do I agree? That is the question........
looby thinking of you - can't wait to hear the birth announcement! [lovely labour vibes]
Ouch, bloody Braxton hicks - might have a bath before boudoir to see if I can settle them down a bit otherwise I'm in for an uncomfortable night!
x

Jennster · 21/04/2009 21:35

Do you realise this is our 13th thread?

CoteDAzur · 21/04/2009 21:38

Don't you people have scans at 7 months in the UK? All this talk of trying to guess where baby's head is by touch is puzzling me.

flippineck · 21/04/2009 21:42

cote - not routinely, no. Not sure if that's a good thing or not.

jennster - 13th! Blimey! Do we talk more than the other antenatal threads?

champagne cocktails sound good . Really not sure I fancy a champagne and gaviscon cocktail though, bleurgh.

frazzledoldbag · 21/04/2009 21:43

cote no we're not lucky like that here! In fact in some hospitals (like my friend in Edinburgh) you only get a 5 minute dating scan at 12 wks! (unless you pay for extra ones of course). I'm 'lucky' because I had extras for my CVS attempt then amnio then a routine one at 20wks. Since then nothing though, and I think that's usual. Having said that a scan at 7 months wouldn't really give you much clue as to where the head might be at 36/37 wks as they can still flip about so much in the meantime can't they?

Jennster 13th Thread! hopefully lucky 13

detsy · 21/04/2009 21:47

Ok girls - quickie from me as I have to go to bed as been v tired and v grumpy today. Well I'm all ready - foo man chu underwent a double hot wax session this afternoon and eyelashes/brows are dyed so don't look asleep or tearful all the time.

Asked my CMW about gloopyness today and she said its def show - woo hoo. But this has been happening for a good couple of weeks - she said its just a sign that cervix is softening and body keeps making the bloody stuff to compensate (actually mine not bloody at all just copious )

She also said head is fully engaged which would explain the football in knickers as described by someone else earlier!

Good luck to Jael hope results come thru soon.

Maybe get some baby news from Looby soon too??

Hall stairs and landing all painted - just need to get pics up....Nesting like crazy here - will prob still be 2 weeks late tho!!

Oh yes and cocktail for me please - anything champagne related will be fine

Nite all xx

llareggub · 21/04/2009 21:48

cote I've had scans at 11 weeks, 12 weeks, 21 weeks, and then every 4 weeks up until 36 weeks. I shall now remain scan free! For me it is because I have gestational diabetes, and I have watched this baby follow a perfect 50th centile line on the scans. So it has been very reassuring to see that his growth has been constant.

Tummum · 21/04/2009 21:50

Thanks for messaging about breech and hiccups. Well, he's at it again (that's LO hiccuping, not DH going on about relations as inducement method!) and it all feels like before so I reckon I'm just being paranoid and it's all fine.

Llare re: sweeps not sure whether I should tell you this but I had about 6 before it worked on DD2 . Although uncomfortable I did find it useful (!) to know how my cervix was doing so that I could manage my own expectations. I don't think they work particularly well unless the LO is wanting to make an appearance shortly anyway.

Re Cocktails - bucks fizz will do me nicely thanks frazz. Have to admit the champers is chilling in the fridge awaiting consumption after HB... is that bad?! I'm also planning to get in a supply of pate, blue cheese and sushi to stuff my face with once LO is born.

Hope Looby is doing OK. Any news Monimo??

detsy · 21/04/2009 21:52

Oh am booked for a sweep on 5th May. Discussed this also today as didn't "like" the first one or should I say first attempted one with Lotti. Apparently now tho it will all be different as cervix is lower than it was before having a baby.

I think this is prob true as when i had spec exam at 26 weeks it was much less uncomfortable than the prodding with Lotti

detsy · 21/04/2009 21:53

Due on 8th...

detsy · 21/04/2009 21:55

And Frazz back to your good ol John Wayne status tomo girl - you go for it - very proud of you!!!

detsy · 21/04/2009 21:56

No stretching in my hospital trust tho - just sweeping... am def to bed as talkign to myself AGAIN

frazzledoldbag · 21/04/2009 22:03

detsy still here - DH watching rugby and I'm too comfy to move! Any minute now............
Have a good sleep tonight - hope you feel better tomorrow honey and good news about the 'gloop'. Mega-nesting here too, it's lovely getting all those niggling jobs done (which I've been meaning to do for ages). So satisfying
Oh and about sweeps - I'm probably a wimp but mine was so awful last time so I'm going to refuse this time. But that's just me..........I reckon a bit of 'action' with DH will probably have much the same effect and be a lot more pleasant! Mind you the doc that did mine last time did come back afterwards and apologise for being 'a bit rough' - think she was trying her best to get me into labour as she wanted me to be induced and there wasn't a bed for me so she thought she'd give it her best shot (as it were).
Ugh gross, TMi sorry
Worked though - went into labour about 24 hours later on my due date.
Sleep well ladies x

Momino · 21/04/2009 22:15

on my way to bed as well.

tummum, no further signs. i'm just being impatient (or desperate?)now. detsy's show has been happening for weeks so I'm hoping this isn't the case for me. all I have to go on is that i had 'show' about 3-4 days before dd2 arrived. can't compare dd1's birth as was induction.

frazzled, i'm hoping to avoid the stretch/sweep thing, doesn't sound pleasant.

Momino · 21/04/2009 22:16

ok, this was a quick appearance, i'm off to bed (hopefully to sleep). going to put my CD on.

night all. rest well.

llareggub · 21/04/2009 22:29

God, now I'm really scared about my stretch and sweep on Thursday! Do you think I should take some painkillers first?

minimenace · 21/04/2009 22:42

here is our last list from page 28 of the last thread. I have just updated myself on it as DS age out of date.

I haven't updated the weeks though as I think someone else has a more accurate way to calculate them all.

I'm also getting a little worried about the sweep now you guys are scaring me.
esp as MW reassured me today that providing I am relaxed it will be fine because she has small fingers

I shall await your verdict on Thursday Llare goodluck

Morning just bookmarking for later. Our first big day out today - going to John Lewis Bugaboo buying (hurrah!) & over to visit my Mum nr Chesterfield.

Typically, H has spent what seems like the whole night awake and chuntering between feeds & complained loudly everytime I switched the light off & tried to sleep... now being cuddled by his Dad while I mumsnet have a shower.

Can't wait to hear news from looby. Momino & detsy am excited about your shows! detsy are you sure you're ok to come over tomorrow??! Obv I have the birth prep cds just in case

emmabemmasmom · 22/04/2009 08:27

Morning all!

Just been trying to catch up a bit. We are all getting closer and closer...fun stuff!

Re sweeps: I had one with DD. It was not the most pleasent experience, but it was not totally painful either. However, it did not work for me! Not sure if I will go for one with this one or not...

at all your relations talk! I was so mad at DH yesterday (stupid reason) we did not hug or kiss at all cause I was being childish and refused! So when we went to bed I was really craving cuddles Have to say that as tired as I was it was nice to have some attention

Everyone seems to be cleaning their windows! Am I bad to pay someone to clean mine? lol It is the only thing I pay to have done...and it is so worth it! I did manage to get the house clean(ish) yesterday. Still need to glide the hoover around today but that can wait eh?

Right off to read and catch up some more. Hope everyone is keeping well and trying to be patient lol

divedaisy · 22/04/2009 08:27

just marking this page for later.

off to see my consultant this morning to talk about a 'controlled labour' because of my neck... wait and see!

i think i've about 10 pages to catch up on... doubt i'll get through them. only skimmed to seee if anyone else has had a baby yet - didn't find an updated list, so assume it's still only Baby Spanglet H.

until later - have a great day!

divedaisy · 22/04/2009 08:32

DUH!!! OK There is a list above me here on this very page....... I'll do the dates later...... (slides off muttering to herself 'how did i miss that list????')

frazzledoldbag · 22/04/2009 08:32

llare and minimenance really sorry if I've alarmed you over the sweep. Mine I think was an 'extreme sweep' (if there is such a thing!) as it was a female registrar doing it (sorry, but I sometimes think the female ones are harder on you than the men), and she wanted me to be induced due to having daily monitoring for reduced fetal movements and history of bleeding but the wards were crammed so she couldn't get me in.
I have other friends who have said their sweeps weren't really anything much to bother about and didn't find them anything more than a bit uncomfortable / undignified! That said, the people who've found it most sore seemed to be the ones who went into labour quickest after - guess that makes sense really - if everything is gettting ready to go it's probably more sensitive?
Wouldn't do any harm to take a couple of paracetamol before hand though (IMO) just to take the edge off! Look forward to hearing how it goes. If you've been doing the natal hypnotherapy cd's then I guess that should work too - good practice for labour.

EmmalinaC · 22/04/2009 08:34

Hello all - a lovely new thread!

Mini I had a sweep with DD and it was fine. I was dreading it because of what I'd heard but in the grand scheme of pregnancy and childbirth it was distinctly underwhelming! And it worked - I went into labour within 48 hours. Try not to worry.

Momino and Detsy - I have also had a show. I think it's come away in bits over the last couple of days (sorry tmi!). I just read that it increases likelihood that waters will break before labour. Is this true? We have just had new carpets fitted and I am paranoid!

I had some definite twinges in the night and now I am convinced that this LO will be here before next weeks elcs.

Hope Jael and Looby are getting on ok.

Spangle enjoy your day out!

There are some ominous crashes coming from the kitchen so best I go and see what DD is up to - will come back later to check for news.

Hope you all have a lovely day and enjoy this glorious sunshine
