Ooo Dandy I am v. impressed at you being a writer. My job is ultra dull (Financial Services... say no more !)

Dets how exactly would the dominatrix thing come up in conversation?!?!?!

Belgian LOL at photoshop baggy pants ! Are you going to put up the photos on FB?

RunningM 40cms ! Eeek! Mind you, those scans are notorious for not being ultra accurate. I was told DD1 would be 10lbs+, scaring the living daylights out of me, when she was actually 8lbs. And the scan was 3 days before she was born

I am feeling like smug Mummy this evening. Cooked proper tea for DC and me, and introduced new concept (jacket potato - hardly exotic, but hey) and DC gobbled it all up. So we have all had tea, and everything cleared up by 5.45... unheard of by me !

But am regretting the sandpit manovers. In agony and it's all my own fault so no sympathy needs to be directed my way. So tomorrow I really really will put my feet up. (Yeah, right !)

Belgianchocolates · 22/04/2009 18:13

runningmonkey That must have been a relief that baby is normal size. I remember meeting this woman once while I was training who measured rediculously big, but her baby was only a good 8lbs, so sounds like you're heading for a similar scenario.

Detsy I was wondering the same: how do you confess to your neighbours that you're a dominatrix? Not you yourself obviously . Was she always walking around in leather outfits and carrying around whips?

I will have to buy some photos before I can put them on eBay. She'll also post them for me on her own website so I can look and choose which ones I want at my own leisure. It's quite difficult. They're not 100% like I expected, I suppose I'm not like the model on the website!

I had another bad swimming pool experience this afternoon. We got there a bit later than usual and so all the chairs were taken. I was standing in the cafetaria area where parents can watch their dcs swimming, clearly I'm heavily pregnant + I'm on crutches. A few people just sat there staring at me and no one offered me their seat until this older man (probably in his 60's) noticed me and gave me his seat. I really couldn't beleive it. The oldest person in the room was the only one to give me a seat. That's just not right Afterwards I left my cardi on the chair while I dried and dressed dd, so I could have a seat while ds was swimming (dd's lesson is at 4 and ds at 4.30) and they only moved my stuff didn't they?! Luckily for the culprits they moved it to another (less comfy) chair or I would have been v. angry.

minimenace · 22/04/2009 18:31

Phew ... just been catching up ...

Tummum - lol ... I did exactly the same thing with the disposable pants last time and still have them untouched except for the pair I tried. I'm just using some old dark undies again and going to treat myself to some new ones once the bleeding has stopped.

Thanks all for the reassurances about the sweep, and Llare, goodluck with yours tomorrow and heres hoping you get started for the weekend.

Hope looby and Daisy are doing okay. we are all waiting with baited breath for a new announcement huh !!

Choc - you poor thing it sounds like your rellys are being a tad selfish over your wedding, I certainly would not have kept as calm and quiet as you seem to be especially with the raging hormones. Everyone here seems to be giving you good advice though.

runningm I was also scanned at 38 weeks with DS and told he was already 8lb and would probably be 8lb 4oz at birth. When he arrived he was actually 7lb 3oz. I'm not having any late scans this time but I'm only measuring 35cms at the moment.

Detsy - I am also very intregued as to how you came to find out about your neighbour ... LOL . Whereabouts does she live, just incase I'm ever in likely need of locking someone up !!!

1stMrsF · 22/04/2009 18:46

emmabemma - There are some jobs that definitely justify paying someone else. Windows is one I think (decorating is another). I just got ours done last week. I'm calling it nesting by proxy.

Re nursing bras, I think I've said this already, but I will recommend again getting bras from figleaves and sending back the ones that don't fit well. They have very good instructions on their website about how to fit the bra and size to choose instead if e.g. the band is too big, the cup is too small. Free returns so you can order as many as you like and send back for refund before credit card bill even comes in!

Gert I have read about the clicking - I don't know what it is, but it is normal!

Chocolatebunnies - I am so in awe of you organising a wedding when pregnant. I got married last year and completely understand what you are saying about everyone else feeling it's OK for them to comment on what you are having and not having and then moaning about what you've done. It's very irritating, and to cope with that with pregnancy hormones too! This is your wedding and what you say goes. Try to remind yourself that whatever happens, you will have such a wonderful day and it is all about becoming husband and wife, the other stuff doesn't matter. Meanwhile, rant away here, we will listen and love you whatever you do. Also I second Dandy's suggestion of John Lewis vouchers. We had a list at JL and kept the vouchers we got until we got pg and bought a lot of baby stuff from there.

Also meant to say that the Elle McPhereson (sp?) nursing bra is FANTASTIC. So well designed: loads of hooks on the back so you can get fit just right over time, really comfortable with no itchy bits and under clothes it looks like a camisole top, with pretty lace, so you can wear with v-neck top/wrap around things and have it peeping out and it's fine. The girl done good.

emmabemmasmom · 22/04/2009 18:58

Hello again

choco Glad you are getting a few things sorted. Worried about you earlier and thought about you today. I am sure in the end all will work out. Just wish I was closer!

Also hoping to hear news of looby and daisy I am v. for them yet also v. ...is that bad? lol

Whew what a day! Something weird has happened to my left hip. I keep getting cramps and it just gives out! I was walking with DD in town and if I was not holding her pram I would have fallen down at one point! It is not comphy at all...should I mention this to my MW??

Plan HB news/worry I got a call today and the MF is coming tomorrow for the HB assessment and chat. I don't know why but I am nervous. Is there anything I should be prepaired for? They seem really nice, but everything they say that is positive is laced with something negative so I don't know what to think. They said I overlap other people's HB's by a few days so I would not be on call at 38wks but later. I tried to make a joke about keeping my legs closed then and she didn't laugh...they just seem like they are against the idea of me having a HB but not saying it, if that makes sense? So, what things can I ask or say to make sure I stick to my guns tomorrow and don't cave in? [worried]

DD in bed now (thank the lord) so going to have a teeny tiny glass of wine and watch something stupid and mind numbing on tv

emmabemmasmom · 22/04/2009 19:04

1stMrsF I just looked up those nursing bras on Figleaves...I love how the models look nothing like a woman who has just had a baby...with leaking boobs, craked painful nipples and nights of broken sleep. Instead they try to look all sexy (as if!) I guess that would not sell very well though huh? lol

emmabemmasmom · 22/04/2009 19:19

OH OH OH

Once you know your bra size go to figleaves clearance website

This is a link for an Elle Macpherson bra that is sooo cheap!

Oh I am excited! Just realized I have money in Paypal so I will be placing an order tonight yeah!

1stMrsF · 22/04/2009 19:22

Yes, the hot milk models with their tiny tiny bumps make me laugh the most. Looks like they have eaten a donut at most!

Belgianchocolates · 22/04/2009 19:42

I had the Elle McPherson bras when I was bf my dd. Because I knew I was going to bf at least for a year like with ds I felt justified spending the money and at the time it was the only brand that seemed to do something a bit more feminine, came in a 32 back and most of all that wasn't white or black . Unfortunately I've gone out of her size range now I use figleaves all the time, but now I'm on to the Freya and Royce bras. Not v. exciting

Emmab They don't really do much at the hb assessment. All they need to know is if you have running water, I suppose that stems from the olden days. Other than that they went through a checklist with my to say that they can only attend 2 hb at a time, so if I'm no3 I'll have to go in or that if there are any staff shortages I'll have to go in too, that I could be transfered to hospital anytime they pick up any problems, that I can't pick the mw attending the birth, it'll be whoever is on call, what pain relief they can provide (only G&A)... It was basically just going through all the technicalities. They did say that there were 12 hb's booked in may, which is a lot for them, so I hope that the day I do go into labour I wont be no3!

Belgianchocolates · 22/04/2009 19:45

emmab I re-read your post and find it really strange that they wont cover you until after 38 weeks. Doesn't seem to make much sense. Nothing like that here.

Belgianchocolates · 22/04/2009 19:47

I removed myself from the coming soon list. I'm not in hospital anymore. Thank god

Belgian I thought it weird too when she mentioned it on the phone today. She just said that they have 4 other ones planned and I overlap a few by about 4 days so I would not be on call at 38 weeks...so I don't know! But that is why I am getting confused because she seems all positive and then says something like that...she even hinted at the possibility of not even being able to have a HB...so I am just feeling weird not really knowing what I am doing lol I just know what I want...and hope they can do it.

sausagenmash · 22/04/2009 20:24

Eh? Just had a look at that bra link, and when you go to the drop down menu for the size, the only one that comes up is 32C. 32C I ask you. Who on earth is a 32C when breastfeeding, FFS? Or am I abnormally nork-laden?

Tummum - aahahaaa - dp bought me one of those big folder things with squishy inserts where you can put the jigsaw away unfinished. Which is fortunate, as I'm getting really cross with it now, and may have to move on from dalmation corner and go up the alsation side. Jeez how sad to I sound.

Llare - good luck with the sweep tomorrow! Have visions of a midwife with a big broom..

No-one heard from Looby? Hope all is ok...

Tummum · 22/04/2009 20:24

Warning, Vent Alert (with capitals)!!!

Oh God, It has started... (bear in mind I am only 38 weeks now!)

MIL called just now.
MIL - Have you had it yet?!
Me - Of course I haven't (thinking - "what?????")
MIL - you would tell me, wouldn't you?
Me - of course I would (thinking - 'If you don't shut up I won't flipping tell you')
MIL - How's the blood pressure then?
Me - Fine (thinking - going up by the minute that you are on the phone)
MIL - can you text me if you feel any twinges so that I can tell my friends what is going on?
Me - eh? OK, if I get time (thinking - I might actually have other priorities I need to get sorted before telling you.)
MIL - Do you mind if I call you in a couple of days to see if you are still here
Me - OK (but should have said NOOOOOO, Leave me ALONE!)

daizydoo · 22/04/2009 20:25

thanks for the link emmabemma - decent bras at prices I like, but nothing in my size - arrgghh

dive daisy - hope all goes well with you.

I'm having a nightmare with ds. Really don't know how I am going to cope with 2. Turn my back for 5 mins to make supper or something like that and ds has trashed the joint! He appears to have given up his afternoon sleep - much to my dismay, but is tired and stroppy. Anyone got any helpful hints?

Tummum · 22/04/2009 20:29

Sausage I think last time I was 32C I was about 15 years old !!! (I am 36E normally and 40G at the moment !) Going to look at squishy jigsaw folders now, I could do with a treat after my phone call just now.

daizydoo · 22/04/2009 20:32

tummum - poor you! I sympathise, when I was overdue with ds my mil rang up everyday to see if we'd had it. I just don't get it - do they think we're going to just have a baby and not tell them!?!?!?

detsy · 22/04/2009 20:38

Had a clary sage bath, had a battle over bedtime with DD (such madam at 17 months) she's now given up after 30 mins of screaming and tantrum.

Ok, the neighbour tells all she is a mobile hairdresser, we became friendly with them as a couple and used to go and and get riotously blotted (all pre babies and before we had to swallow some time to grow up pills). ANyway to cut a long story short, one night she got super lary and told us the truth - all very shocking indeed but pretty interesting! She makes good money out of it - no sex involved appaarently. As you can imagine its all top secret and our estate is very small (about 20 houses)

Anyway we're not friends anymore as she thinks that Dp has told everyone about her "job" - there is one nasty woman who lives here who has splilt with her hubby (she's a physcho - i had to call 999 twice last summer as she had "tried" to kill herself and told her small kids the same - nasty nasty selfish cow) No really I 've done all the sympathy and tears adn counselling and support and babysitting and she is one selfish vindictive b*tch! Her ex and my DP are still really close mates so physcho woman hates that fact and told dom woman the other day that my DP had told everyone about her which he hasn't at all. Fact is dom girl has a bloody web site with her face on it durrr!! Anyhow thats the nothern episode of eastenders over with never a dull moment here!!!

Oh just to clarify and confirm I tried my very best in a Dandyesque way, every single other household has slowly ostracised Physcho Nutter because she is so AWFUL. I was the last one to run out of patience!

llareggub · 22/04/2009 20:40

Thanks sausage! I've no idea what to expect, but I hope it works.

I rang my mother yesterday to remind her about the sweep and the potential induction on Tuesday, and unlike other mothers who are ringing every 5 minutes, my mother replied "oh, so I expect I might give you a ring later next week then to see what has happened," in a vague kind of way.

I suspect strongly that she is miffed with me because I turned down her offer to come and stay for a week post-birth to sit on my sofa with nose in a book help. I think not! I learnt the hard way with DS and besides I think DH would leave me if she came to stay again this decade.

dandy how exciting! I'm wildly impressed that you have actually produced a novel instead of just thinking about it like most people me. Well done you!

detsy · 22/04/2009 20:41

Tum sounds like your MIL should live here

Belgianchocolates · 22/04/2009 20:44

Errr, I was a 32D when bf dd, but only after weaning, before that I was a 34F. Not too far off a 32c.

Tummum what a strange phonecall. As if you wouldn't let your own family know that you've had the baby

sausage Lol at your puzzle trouble

emmab The thing is there might be 4 people due about the same time as you, but who says that they'll go into labour at the same time? Some might even go so far over they're sent for induction. Really odd. They don't ever make a problem of the amount of people due at the same time with us, they just warn you that all cmws might be busy if you phone and then you'll have to go into hospital, which of course I'd understand.

Belgianchocolates · 22/04/2009 20:54

I've just received a message from the photographer that my pictures are ready to view on her website. I've put the link and password on our f/b page as I don't want the whole world to see them, only the members of our secret society will do

frazzledoldbag · 22/04/2009 20:58

OH tummum she does sound a bit annoying but at least she's interested! My MIL hasn't enquired after this baby/my health/its health/the pregnancy etc since I was about 12 wks. I wonder if she's forgotten I'm pregnant? In fact the only reference to it she has made at all was disappointment that we hadn't found out the sex ('why not, why, why?) - in fact we do know the sex but just haven't told anyone - esp not her! So I realise your MIL is probably irritating in her excitement for news but at least she's interested! Mine couldn't give a monkeys (grandchild number 9 - old news).

detsy ROF and PMSL at the offer of part time work watching your neighbour at work in her S&M dungeon. I'd have taken her up on the offer if it paid reasonably well - after all you'd just be able to sit there and read the paper/do a spot of knitting more than likely - as long as you made encouraging/impressed noises now and again I reckon they'd all be happy enough! Oh god, the mind BOGGLES!

Elle McPhereson bras - I have one from last time (black, very silky lovely fabric - was very comfy) - but dammit can't find it anywhere.......must have another look.

runningmonkey at your girl news after being told 99% boy. Are you ok? I imagine that must have come as quite a shock. I'd be gobsmacked (not disappointed I'd have to say, but very surprised) if someone turned round and told me that at this stage - but then I guess it's good you didn't find out at delivery - that would have been an even greater shock I guess. Anyway congrats on your pink one - girls are lovely. And glad all is well with the size of the baby too. Must be a relief.

Right off to watch The Apprentice now and fold some washing (nesting, nesting, nesting.........will it ever end?) My friend offered to lend me her carpet cleaning machine today - apparently she cleaned all her house carpets including the stairs then promptly went into labour.......
