10% voucher at Mothercare and going to get one of these for birth pool.

Jennster · 24/04/2009 09:40

Voucher only valid until Sunday though.

sausagenmash · 24/04/2009 09:43

emmabemmasmom - I can truly sympathise re your heartburn. However, I am religiously having 20mls of gaviscon AND a glass of milk before bedtime, and its worked an absolute treat. Minty one, mind, not the aniseedy one, yuck.

Am off to my parents for the weekend... dp is coming down by train tomorrow as he's a busy bunny at work and is out on a mini lash tonight - s'alright with me as I won't have to put up with his snoring! Still, not looking forward to a 3 hr drive to Wiltshire. Doing a bit of wedding planning tomorrow - meeting the florist and photographer.. gaaaah its months away...

Talking of weddings, hows it going choc? Your last post seemed a lot chirpier! Things finally going to plan? I do hope so.

Lots of hugs towards Looby and her little girl...

Have a lovely weekend everyone - hope the weather stays nice! x

llareggub · 24/04/2009 10:18

Morning all!

Heaps of sympathy to those with heartburn. I had it in my last pregnancy and I have to say, I think it is absolutely horrendous. Luckily I have escaped this time!

Tummum any more news from you?

Febes I've definitely been getting horrendous cramps so can sympathise.

I've got work colleagues coming for lunch so I'm trying to make the place look presentable.

Reggie, any news?

Belgianchocolates · 24/04/2009 10:54

Morning everyone,

I'm putting the stuff we removed from the living room back now the decorating is finished and after that I'll probably feel up to nothing. But I want it done before my parents arrive, probably around 3 some time. In a way it's the perfect opportunity to clear all the rubbish and get the shelves all nice and tidy again.

DH has gone now and I keep thinking that my admission to hospital last week was a blessing in disguise really. If that hadn't happened I would have been 38 weeks + without any birthing partners around for a good 5 days. But the admission spooked my mum and made her come over a week early, so I'm not going to be on my own anymore for a good month and by then the baby will definitely be here.

DS really made me smile. He knows his grandparents are coming while he's at school and so he finished off his bedroom this morning and wouldn't leave until it was vacuumed. I told him his grandma is coming especially to help with that sort of things, but he went, no mama it's OK I'll go and get the vacuum. Imagine a 7yo dragging a vacuum up the stairs. Ah, so sweet. I am so proud of him. I hope he doesn't loose that tidy streak in him when he becomes a teenager

I wonder what's happening with Jael and Reggie and how Looby and baby are doing...

FiKelly · 24/04/2009 11:06

belgian meant to say your pics are lovely

I sent looby a congrats etc text last night and she's just sent a lovely picture of her with their little girl.. will ask her if I can upload it to our fb group for all to see. so cute

Belgianchocolates · 24/04/2009 12:27

I really need to get around to putting the nrs in my phone. Next job on the list when I've finished the living room

Thanks for the comment on my pics fi

Anyone of us on here who's got chickens. How do you stop a broody chicken from being broody? I've heard chickens can actually die when they don't stop brooding. This very same chicken became broody in autumn, but at the time I think the change of season stopped her broodiness.

Febes · 24/04/2009 13:05

I'm cream crackered. I've been up to the shops and bought the things I need for dinner tonight as well as some bread and milk and general things. I also went into Primark and got some cute shorts and t-shirts for DD. Then came home and made a chicken casserole for tonight. Its not very summery but I wanted to make something in advance so I can rest this afternnon. So we are having that with rice and some garlic bread maybe and shop bought profiteroles with chocy sauce for afters. Hope it will be ok. Why did I invite everyone round when I'm 38 weeks??? Oh well it will be fun and I won't have time for much socializing for the next few months. Still got to clean the house too....

Momino · 24/04/2009 13:24

hi all.
in laws have just left with both DDs and the dog! what a treat . i've got lots of tidying up to do after them but need a rest first.

I didn't sleep well at all. tummum, speaking of false alarms, I was sure i was going into labour last night. really heavy pelvis, very period-y pains but it didn't come in waves like contractions. also had more show following this. i sat in bed till 1am listening to hypnobirthing but didn't feel relaxed. i did fall asleep and eventually the cramp disappeared.

I'm fine today and think it was just all the bad stuff i ate yesterday: 3 yumyums, 2 magnums (full size), bangers and mash, etc. there's no way a baby could come out of me with my bowels filled with this rubbish !. i need to drink more water to move it along.

with the girls/dog away, i'm hoping baby comes this weekend but probably won't because that would just be too convenient, wouldn't it?

febes, you're brave inviting people round at 38 weeks. try to get rest in between preparation.

hope all are well today and looking forward to more news, more babies.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 24/04/2009 13:28

Afternoon all!

Wow, I missed a lot - HUGE and HUMONGOUS and GIGANTIC congrats to Looby. Awwwwwwwwwwwww. And !!

I hope Reggie is ok and Jael is ok...oh and has anyone heard from polony again?

Tummum, ok just a false alarm but maybe the next one won't be

Belgian Loved those photos - loved the gauzy ones and of your lovely bump. And how lovely that you're mum and dad are on their way and please can we swap children - you can have DD1 who never tidies unless she is frogmarched up to her room.

I must admit that I haven't any new stretch marks this pregnancy though, so my bump isn't too hideous

Frazz - did I imagine you having a dream about your baby being born with a beard? I hope not because it made me crease up with laughter......a mini Brian Blessed?

Sausage - How's that lovely doggy doo-doo jigsaw coming along?

Blotted - I hope you're ok today, poor you, you are suffering

I bet I've missed someone......

I am just scoffing a Snickers, having had crisps and mini-marshmallows already - building my strength up for tomorrow - 8 girls aged 10 and 11 to be shepherded to the cinema to see Zac Efron in 17 Again (I have been informed that I must not speak/laugh/be stupid/make faces/in any way acknowledge that I am related to Maia) followed by Pizza Hut. Unfortunately, I have to actually go into the bloody film with them as it's a 12A. Oh, and I must not actually sit anywhere near them in the cinema .

DH has it easy tomorrow he's taking DD2 and her little friend to softplay, where he can drink coffee and relax. S'NOT FAIR!!!!!

My fab MW dropped off the Home Birth pack yesterday, so as long as it's after next Wed, we are all systems go for BabyGrump to arrive in our living room..........Yay! I had a look through the kit but cringed when I saw the 'Suture Kit'.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 24/04/2009 14:05

Hi all!

Momino - I had exactly what you described a couple of weeks ago. Really wasn't sure what was going on and as you said, was heavy periody pains that didn't really come and go. In the end I put it down to the fact that I'd had a heavy day as it had been my last day at work.

Febes - hope your friends help out and you enjoy your get together.

I went out last night with 3 old school friends. Was good to catch up but didn't get home until 1am Have been resting today as am really tired as a result (suprise, suprise!) Was worth it though!

Blottedcopybook · 24/04/2009 14:25

Belgian - would you fancy getting half a dozen fertile eggs and let her sit on them? Chicks are seriously cute, Mum does all the work and it can be a nice experience for the kids?

If not, you need to isolate her and she needs cooled down. We usually use a wire dog crate, there's nowhere for her to sit and brood plus she gets to see all the other girls having fun. What breed of hen is it?

Grumpy - Thank you sweetie! I'm still sore but I'm being very well looked after by DH and DS, who have spent today baking and bringing me cups of tea. I could get used to this!

alapala · 24/04/2009 14:37

Well done LOOBY. Excitement mounts!

My cocktail of 6 drugs, incl antibiotics seems to be starting to work and the old lungs are clearing a bit. Havent been in work since monday and have a hospital apptmt this Monday so I feel v guilty indeed... My mum leave this weekend and we have only managed 1 outing.. what a waste of on-tap babysitting!

Momino · 24/04/2009 14:48

ses, also had a lot of rasp leaf tea yesterday, wonder if that could have contributed ?

blotted, that is sweet of your DH and DS, you deserve it!

i've just tried on my new Elle macpherson nursing bra [embarrassed to admit i bought a 32C]. it amazingly fits since, in pregnancy, i've expanded to at least 34 if not 36 but I've got it on the loosest hooks and it's very comfy. it was a risk getting because i haven't measured myself but know i was same last time with dd2 BF. however, if a C cup fits me now, aren't i bound to go up to D when milk comes in? silly me who just jumped at the chance to get a nice bra for a tenner. i can wear it now, anyway!

i'm going to take a nap now after last night's horrid sleep. maybe listen to my hypno cd. i was so worried last night was The Night that all of a sudden, i didn't want it to happen, got really scared. i hope i can relax and overcome this. anyone else feeling panicky about the birth part? i've got to remember it's all going to be over soon and i'll get to meet my baby at the end.

EmmalinaC · 24/04/2009 14:49

afternoon all and congrats to looby. Quick post from phone to let you know that Niamh Elizabeth was born at 9.56am weighing 6lb 2oz by unplanned vbac! No time for elcs or drugs - labour under 2hrs so very different from last time! She is beautiful and I am elated. Hope you're all well - will catch up on your news and tell full story when I get home. Good luck to you all! Emma xxx

Momino · 24/04/2009 14:50

alapala, just cross-posted. glad you're feeling better. don't feel guilty, though !

Momino · 24/04/2009 14:52

hurrah for emmalinaC! well done, you and many congrats on arrival of Niamh (beautiful name).

hope you're both well and resting. looking forward to hearing back from you. xx

Belgianchocolates · 24/04/2009 14:58

Emmalina Did I see that right? CONGRATULATIONS Oh that's brilliant. Gives the other VBAC girls some hope that it can go swimmingly!

Just been to mw. Baby is still head down and engaged, YAY. She thinks dr was silly suggesting I can't have hb either. She's also very curious to see if baby will really be 4.3kg at 40 weeks! She's hoping I'll go into labour tonight as she's on call tonight. I don't think I will though. But I do feel ready now: mum and dad here, baby wrap thing finally arrived so I feel he/she will have somewhere soft to lie in in the Skate. Living room back together, etc... Let it come!

blotted DH wants to get fertilised eggs, but I just can't face the idea of even more poo to clean up. 2 create enough mess as it is. TBH I can't remember the breed. It's a a black one with some white feathers around her neck. I'll have to look it up again. I'll have to try the dog crate technique, just need to buy a dog crate first.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 24/04/2009 15:04

EmmalinaC - I'm sitting here in awe
Huge congratulations on the arrival of Niamh

Momino - probably did help! I hate tea and am trying to track some capsules down but no luck so far with Holland and Barrett being out of stock. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm off to Tesco now. DH went to blow up my gym ball last night (finally!) and couldn't find the valve!

Jennster · 24/04/2009 15:16

Wow Emmalina congratulations. Super news.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 24/04/2009 15:29

EmmalinaC so many congratulations and a gorgeous name!!

My word, a veritable flood of babies........c'mon Momino, Belgianchocs, llareggub and Reggie. Let's get those babies birthed by Monday.

No pressure

Blotted you and I can form our own club of fed-up ladies with ailments (I slept badly last night due to pelvis being v. painful and I had awful, awful back pain). And I had a weird vision thing yesterday too, my eyesight suddenly went odd, like one eye wouldn't focus. I put it down to sheer bloody exhaustion though. No DH to pamper me here . I'll make him look after me tonight though

OH FOR FECKS SAKE I AM SICK OF MOANING

OP posts:
flippineck · 24/04/2009 15:30

Emmalina - wow, that was quick! Huge congratulations to you all. Lovely name. Looking forward to hearing the full story when you're ready!

Belgian - I'm pleased your MW appt was much more positive. Fingers crossed for a lovely easy hb soonish.

alapala - glad you're feeling a bit better, hope the improvement continues.

blotted - good to hear that you are being looked after, enjoy it! Hope you are feeling better soon.

All ok here. Had a bit of a battle to get DD to sleep this afternoon, she was absolutely shattered after a v long walk but fighting sleep as usual. I reckon she'll drop the afternoon naps soon, but I hope it' not in the next few weeks - very selfishly I love my hour+ peace in the afternoon! This afternoon since she's been asleep I've mopped the kitchen floor (not nesting, it's the shame of the dirt that motivated me!) and I've just eaten a lump of banana bread (inspired by someone - Febes? - earlier) and a magnum ice cream. Feel slightly sick now!

emmabemmasmom · 24/04/2009 15:34

Yeah EmmaC that is great news! And so efficient in telling us Can't wait to hear the story and see pictures!!

Quick post: I have DD's baby book out so I can fill in missing gaps. DH came in from work and sat down with it. He pulled out her little hospital tags and was reading and then he started crying!!! Oh it was so cute lol He then get all and won't read anymore! Just wanted to share that

Been having some aweful pains today. Had to lie down in bed with cartoons on in bedroom for DD (bad mom but I don't care lol). She loved it, but I was sitting there doing some timings and wondering if it was time...but no. Nothing regular...just pain, prob BH. Seems to have stopped for now. I am sure this baby is staying in for life...

Gert2a · 24/04/2009 15:37

Emmalina huge congratulations.
Beautiful name.

5 more sleeps to go till minigert arrives.

Woo hoo!

got my feet up today as did far too much yesterday and am exhausted.

Going to mum's for tea, but afraid won't be able to eat much due to snaffling half a tub of icecream earlier.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 24/04/2009 15:41

Oooh Gert I knew there was someone missing from my list of impending bubs.

Just you make sure you get plenty of sleep in the next 5 days .
