OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Looby You're not being selfish at all, but what I would say is that with you being induced early chances are you'll not be in labour until Sunday afternoon at the earliest if your first prostin is Saturday morning - that's admittedly me going by my experiences of being induced. At my hospitals hubby got kicked out over lunchtime so if your hospital policy is the same perhaps he could meet up with his DD then?

I think your MIL is being insensitive but reading between the lines, I think she's just trying to make sure her granddaughter is included if that makes sense? I like Belgian's idea of your DSD meeting you at the hospital for a wee while too if that's plausible because I remember only too well how bored I was waiting for something to happen!

LoobyLou36 · 12/04/2009 22:37

right ladies - I too am off to bed.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease re: stepdaughter. I will do my very best to involve her with everything but don't know how I'll feel till the day

frazzledoldbag · 12/04/2009 22:37

Maternity underwear = hideous and expensive.
I am currently wearing a pre-preg black lace underwired bra. Very bad I know but my maternity bras are so hideous and give me a giant mono-boob.
Oh to get drunk and wear a basque [frazzle dreams]

frazzledoldbag · 12/04/2009 22:39

looby sleep well and don't worry, night x

sophietom · 12/04/2009 22:43

looby- you are definitely not being selfish, it's to be expected that you would want him there for support- surely he can arrange to spend time with his daughter another time?
lol at 'special medicine' gross!

pulapula · 12/04/2009 22:43

looby- yes, sounds like you could suggest DSD comes to the hospital for a bit, or DH might pop out for a bit, but you can't plan until you know how things are on the day. If your DH is anything like mine, who can't sit still and paces around, i would rather not have him there if nothings happening! Better to have a mag and ipod with your favourite tracks etc and chill out!

divedaisy · 12/04/2009 22:52

looby - if it's a comfort I did my induction alone for most of the day. DH was due to go to UK to see his mates on a Thursday 3 weeks before my due date. On the Wed I was brought into hosp for 'a rest'. On Thurs morning I was told I was having my baby! I phoned DH to uncheck out of the Airport (for once EasyJet were helpful!!). Instead of him going home to go to bed (he'd been on nights) he went to his dad's for a natter, then home at lunchtime and 'helped' the tiler, then went to bed for a few hours. At 6pm I got the mw to phone and ask him to come in. He arrived at 7/7:30pm and ds was born at 9:04pm. I was induced at 10am and did it all alone with mw. I personally found it OK - to be honest I thinkdh may have annoyed me at the beginning! But saying that I do think he was overwhelmed when he did eventually arrive! He had a lot to catch up on! He actually walked in when I was getting my epidural sited!

Inductions can take a while, and I'd say if he could be instantly be contacted think about that too. Maybe your dh would prefer to be with you anyway??

sophietom · 12/04/2009 22:53

Argh DP is watching golf- it's super boring might have to retire to my boudouir! All this talk of basques and I'm sat in a towelling dressing gown- oh the glamour

sophietom · 12/04/2009 22:58

I've updated the list (it didn't say what variety I was having!). All our due dates are rapidly approaching eeeek...

divedaisy · 12/04/2009 23:05

I spoke to dh tonight about the names Id posted and he's totally off Suzannah Grace!!! And he doesn't like Olivia shortened to Libby!! I havent hit him yet with Gabrielle/a!! I can hear him already!!!ARGH! He keeps saying there are other names I've mentioned that he like - well why the hell doesn't he tell me which ones??????? Then he'll say we;ve plenty of time so stop panicing. I'm not panicing I just want some input rather than feeling the research, thinking, and choices/combinations are up to me!

llareggub - so does that mean there's Cerys, Carys, and Charis???? Very confusing! I still like it as a first name, but would have preferred a first name with more than 2 syllables.

pulapula · 12/04/2009 23:05

Really must go to sleep, but i wondered whether on the list if people know about induction dates or planned cs dates, it would be good to have an "imminent announcements" section too (or maybe a little list at the end as I guess not all will be imminent) so we know when things might be happening!

llareggub · 12/04/2009 23:11

pulapula I think a planned induction/c-section list is a good idea. I'll find out on Wednesday, I think, when mine will be. At the beginning they floated the 27 April or 4 May, but I have a niggling feeling it may be the 20 April, eek! It will be a Monday because the consultant that did my fertility treatment with DS promised he'd do my c-section, and as I know him, trust him, and have been operated on before by him, I really want him to do it and he only does ops on Mondays.

Of course, if I go for the VBAC, who knows?

Momino · 12/04/2009 23:14

time for me to go to bed as well. just one thing: looby, your DH should be with you throughout esp because it's your 1st and you really need his support.

hope everyone else is ok and sleeps well. baby3 is awake and all arms/legs, gymnastics... looks like i won't be falling asleep for awhile, sigh.

good night, anyway. xx

divedaisy · 12/04/2009 23:14

My Yum Yum Lamb and Minty Sauce was a bit disappointing - the lamb ended up having to be microwaved... big flop... Oh well tasted OK in the end...

And I've to bring the baby mobile back tomorrow cos there was a piece missing... That nearly sent me over the edge yesterday as I was so excited about getting it on the crib; and the thought of having to drive over 30 miles to return it is pi**ing me off BIG time... I kinda feel like just getting my money back (£32.99) and using the crib toys I already have - not a mobile but kicky things that make noises...

And I started tackling the dog poo this morning. I did about 20 minutes of lifting and then had to give up and lie down because of the BH and tummy pains I was getting - wind! I do wish dh was more house proud and SAW the things needing done... Noones perfect eh??

I need my big green ball pumped up too. Sat on it to do my ironing this evening and was nearly at floor level!!! I haven't sat on it in ages and found it very comfy!

divedaisy · 12/04/2009 23:18

OK all - goodnight... hope you all get a good night's sleep.

SpangleMaker · 13/04/2009 00:28

I really shouldn't be up just now but I've spent most of the evening asleep on the sofa. I'm not great company for DH at the moment!

frazzled respect for high heels & lace bra! I'm still in the big pants & slip on shoes & I'm not even pregnant any more.

looby you're certainly not being selfish for wanting your DH with you and it's true you don't know how quickly your labour will progress. Having said that, as the others have said, you might find on the day that you're happier for him to wander off for part of the day as it's more than likely the pessary will be slow to act - in fact depending what sort of ward they put you on he might have to leave outside visiting hours. Could you have some sort of standby arrangement so if you do decide he's ok to go he'll be available to come rushing back if needs be? I really don't think you're selfish for wanting him there at all.

Right, bed for me. Night night ladies x

LoobyLou36 · 13/04/2009 09:11

Morning all.

Didn't sleep well last night. Had a chat with DH tho and we've agreed to play it by ear. Think he feels pressurised by his mum making him feel guilty. He says he wants to be with me but I've said perhaps DSD can come to the hospital for an hour or so.

We have another problem now, DH got a new phone and contract because his other one kept conking out, now the new one doesn't work - Virgin are now saying that they're coverage isn't good in Hereford

LoobyLou36 · 13/04/2009 09:14

Virgin have just rung back. They have a mast down and nothing will be done till after the bank holiday and they are saying that it could take 72hrs to sort it out

Why is nothing going right at the moment?

frazzledoldbag · 13/04/2009 09:18

looby maybe give him your mobile then? as you won't be able to use it in the hosp anyway and the ward could contact him on that (assuming yours has a decent signal that is!)
I'm sure these things are just sent to try us....how irritating. My DH has a habit of losing things like mobiles, keys etc - wouldn't put it past him to lose his completely when it's most needed! [better not or he'll be seriously in trouble!]

Glad you've had a chat with him and agreed to see how it goes on Sat. OOh just think hopefully by this time next week you;ll have your baba!!!! [jealous frazz emoticon]

frazzledoldbag · 13/04/2009 09:20

Have been eating chocolate mini eggs already this morning - my kitchen is like the Easter Bunny's grotto - you've honestly never seen so much chocolate. And the DD's are sick of it already! Hmmmm, what shall I do with it all? [Licks lips]

LoobyLou36 · 13/04/2009 09:32

Meant to say last night, DSD is nearly 11 and mature for her age. We have already spoken to her about what's happening Saturday and she was absolutely fine about not seeing her dad that day, and we've reassured her that we will let her know as soon as anything happens and that she will be able to see her little bro/sis as soon as possible.
It's MIL who's making all the fuss.

LoobyLou36 · 13/04/2009 09:34

Choc mini eggs - yum!

I have a cadburys creme egg that the landlord at our local gave me last night.

Have avoided all chocolate since GD but now it appears to be under control with insulin I may treat myself to it late

frazzledoldbag · 13/04/2009 09:38

looby well in that case if it's your MIL stirring I'd just tell her to mind her own business (in the nicest possible way that is!). Why on earth is she making all this fuss and upsetting you when your DSD isn't bothered at all? Fair enough if she was upset about maybe not seeing her dad for the day but that doesn't seem to be the case.
(MIL's are a weird breed aren't they!) - I know mine inhabits another planet altogether some days

Catch up later, must go now x

FiKelly · 13/04/2009 09:44

looby just read yesterday's posts and I don't think you were being unreasonable at all. I agree with everyone's suggestions and glad your dh and you agree to see how it goes on the day

llareggub · 13/04/2009 11:28

Belgian and the other midlanders...I won't be able to make it tomorrow, I have a horrid cold and I am feeling very sorry for myself. I really would not want to pass it onto anyone else and I don't feel up to driving. Will post on fb too. Really sorry, I was looking forward to it.
