BTW i'm usually a big Lansinoh fan but that's £9.99 for a single tube so these (if I can get them at a show for £10) are better value and supposedly work faster?????

Belgianchocolates · 21/04/2009 11:35

Sorry frazzled never heard of them. But I do know silver is supposed to be good for wound healing, so I suppose they work on that principle.

Jennster · 21/04/2009 11:48

The lansinoh will last forever. You only apply it very thinly and a little goes a long way. You can get dressings impregnated with silver, and the dc have cot mattresses with silver in the fabric as antibacterial.

Jennster · 21/04/2009 11:49

Fraz no probs. Give me a bit to sort out copying posting.

I think lansinoh is a bit like Sudocrem. I don't think I've ever finished a pot/tube of either , you just use so little of it.

Belgianchocolates · 21/04/2009 11:52

Dandy I like Frank, simple, not common yet not exotic either.

ooh ooh it worked! [frazzle is extremely smug!]

dandy for some reason I guessed your other name was Frank - not sure why but last night it just popped into my head. I quite like it, but honestly prefer Hector. Frankie is cute though.
My tube of Lansinoh from last time is almost finished - but then DD2 had a tongue tie and my nipples were (I hate to say this word but - shredded). So I got through a fair bit! Used to put a layer on a breast pad and a layer on my nip and stick the two together! It worked eventually. Wonder why they don't add a local anasthetic to the Lansinoh to take away some of the pain too?

Anyway enough time wasting on here. Housework to do before I pick up DD at 1pm. Gah.

jennster - thanks, no rush for the cd obviously. I'm still 3 wks away from due date! x

frazzledoldbag · 21/04/2009 12:04

Dandy do you like Francis - then you could shorten to Frank or Frankie? Francis Hector sounds nice?

Dandy I prefer Frank to Francis too. I really like Frankie. I might steal and suggest to dh if you don't mind. Frank exists in Dutch too and so it would be a nice bilingual name . Another name I like is Mark, but unfortunately my own dad is called Mark.

This weather is making my ankles swell big time. They're hurting when I'm standing. Not nice.

frazzled Make sure they check this lo for tongue tie as soon as it's born. They can snip the frenulum. It's a quick and easy procedure and will save you nipples from lots of trauma.

SpangleMaker · 21/04/2009 12:52

Thanks for the pro-pooing advice frazz i hate prune juice but I'll definitely try if i get desperate - tbh I'd rather swallow the other but I don't think that will help my current condition...

Re names, I love Hector and Felix. I'm liking Archie now too - for a while we had a CEO called Archie & that put me off but I'm over the association now.

Hope looby's ok, can't wait to hear her news.

Mr Jael thanks for the update. Hope Jael is managing to keep her spirits up, and that the test results are good. I'd offer to visit but I don't think they'd let me in with Harvey as they don't allow children other than siblings (ironic as it's not long since I was struggling to get H out!). 30 April is a fab day for a birthday though - it's my birthday too Please send Jael my best wishes.

I'm having one of those days I guess all of you who've hadbabies already have experienced... H has been restless all morning, on/off the boob, wind, possetting, needing to be held constantly... he's been through 2 outfits already yet I've not made it out of my pyjamas!

I've ordered a stretchy wrap sling (Tricot slen) as H doesn't seem comfortable in the pouch style one I bought before he was born. Hopefully this will be better for both of us if I can get the hang of it.

SpangleMaker · 21/04/2009 12:55

Right he finally seems to've gone to sleep so I'm off to jump in the shower.

Gert2a · 21/04/2009 13:15

Dandy I LOVE Frank - a great solid boys/man's name!

chocbunnies I'll check the label on the raspberry leaf tea and get back to you.

Ikea was lovely and empty and pure bliss, but just went straight to the fabric dept, spent an absolute age trying to work out how much I'd need. If any one was observing me they would have found it very funny - heavily pregnant lady, very furrowed brow, folding and unfolding, measuring and remeasuring same piece of material for at least 15 minutes. Went for this www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40116720 Very happy with the continued spotty theme that has taken over the nursery. Just need to get on and make them now (now that will be an interesting spot of human observation!)

Hi All,

Been away for a long weekend and it's taken me this long to catch up!

It was DH 40th B'day and our 11th wedding anniversary, so had a weekend away to the seaside with DS - it was great - so relaxing and even had a lovely sunny day on Sun. It was great to spend some time with DS before LO arrives too.

Am I a meanie? didn't put out on DH birthday! But he did get a surfing lesson - and we did have fish and chips and champagne! yummy. a few glasses of vino consumed also.

On ML at the end of next week and looking forward to it - getting excited at meeting LO soon.

Momino · 21/04/2009 14:12

Gert, amazed and at the bravery and energy you have to go to Ikea as well as making them. we're supposed to go to Ikea on Sun (not a very busy day ) but I don't think i'll go as the hour drive will be too uncomfortable for me. i also have a suspicion that things could be happening this weekend [momino jinxes herself again into being 2 weeks overdue].

sounds like a lot of you have good energy spurts/nesting. although i've had my couple of days cleaning floor and skirting boards, i can't and don't seem to have any energy left. i don't even think i'd have the energy to give birth right now if asked (what do i mean, 'if asked' ?).

do you think looby has had a baby yet? i'm so excited for her! can't wait to hear the news.

Momino · 21/04/2009 14:15

frazzled, did you get your dd2's tongue tie snipped? my dd1 had tongue tie which afffected her weight gain so they did separate it at 8 weeks though i remember it being a struggle to have it done. dd2 doesn't have it but will check DC3 when s/he arrives.

Belgian, do they do this right away now?

Momino · 21/04/2009 14:17

Rosie, happy anniversary. sounds like you gave your DH a great birthday celebration. about not putting out, i'd have done the same! I feel mean to my DH as well but I honestly can't think of anything i would like to do less right now.

llareggub · 21/04/2009 14:19

Hello!

We're back from our swim session and I was so proud of DS today. He managed to swim just a teeny little way. I was definitely the proud mummy. It is a beautiful day and I also wish I had some summery maternity clothes!

I'm off to make a belated lunch for DS from the scraps left in the fridge.

Sweep on Thursday. I'm a little bit apprehensive about it, but at least if it doesn't work I'll get a decent nights rest as DS is off to his grandparents.

So much chat to read from last night. I was busying ironing so didn't get the chance to chat.

Momino · 21/04/2009 14:44

llareggub, 'busy ironing' and all you ironing ladies (belgium?): you put me to shame. ironing is something i put at the bottom of my task list and cringe whenever i have to put on a wrinkled t shirt on one of my DDs. i feel so lazy!

frazzledoldbag · 21/04/2009 14:47

momino am getting v excited for you [sends more labourish vibes] can't wait to hear if its a blue one or a pink one!
Re: tongue tie - we were referred to the consultant when DD was about a week old but TBH he was a bit hopeless. He said it probably (?) wasn't affecting her feeding (it bloody was) and probably (?) not affecting her weight (by this point she'd lost over 1lb of her birth weight) - from 8lb 8oz down to 7lb 8oz but it was up to me if I wanted to insist on having it done. Being exhausted, hormonal, and upset at the thought of it I didn't insist and went home thinking I should have done. Feeding was a nightmare - then she started with the reflux which was even worse [frazz shudders at the memory].
Anyway sorry am ranting, spoke to my HV about it this morn actually and her advice was IF this next baby has a tongue tie identified in the delivery room check I am well within my rights to request that it be snipped IMMEDIATELY. She said they'll probably want me to wait a week or so for an appointment, by which time my nips will be in shreds again so her advice was 'be stroppy and bolshy and it will be done that day or the day after' and nip any problems with feeding in the bud.
So, I have packed my 'stroppy hat' in my hospital bag (and am searching in vain for DH's) - he doesn't do stroppy usually! and leaves that side of things to me!
Blimey I've ranted enough
Am going to try and do the deed with DH this evening I think - I feel really sorry for him and am mortified to realise it was February last time we 'did it!' However, I must say I might treat myself to a glass of wine first to help pursuade myself I can be botherered [can't be bothered emoticon]
Better go and make the joiner a coffee now. Bye x

alapala · 21/04/2009 15:13

Am with you Momino on the ironing front. My mother who is visiting looks so shocked at the state of DS's things!

Am feeling really crap with my cough turned into broncheo-something. The doc has put me on several kinds of inhalers to try and avoid antibiotics - I hope they work. Also off work when I only have till next thurs beofre ML starts, so feeling guilty about that too. Serves me right for feeling smug that this pg was rather straightforward on the health front!

I also like Frank, and know 2 lovely big Franks so has + associations. My littel mind is still stuck on Gabriel though - now hard to assess it as a name, I am so obsessed..

Any names for a new Thread??
