Momino · 11/04/2009 00:19

good night dd, i'm off to bed now too. xx

pulapula · 11/04/2009 08:12

Momino- DS was slower to walk (DD 10mo, DS 14mo) and talk but could be a "boy" thing. He was definitely quicker at eating more solids and feeding himself, probably because we were more relaxed about weaning and it was easier to give DCs the same. I will wait and see what DS2 is like!

Tummum · 11/04/2009 08:18

Morning ladies. Well, it's chucking it down and we are planning on going away in the caravan. Great idea To a site 2 hours away. so if I go into labour it could be interesting !

But I am HAPPY because baby has dropped so heartburn has stopped Blimey - have I stopped moaning?!

But am feeling v. "damp" today. I am hoping it is just extra discharge, and I would know if it was anything else. Let's just hope the stress of packing up for the weekend sorts it out one way or another !

Have a lovely day girls.

And DD, Looby and Monimo how can you stay up soooo late? My eyelids start dropping at 10 !!

CoteDAzur · 11/04/2009 08:44

May I join in with the moaning?

Sciatica is thankfully over. Now I have SPD (I think). Is it SPD when turning in bed is very painful, back of your pelvis loudly clicks when you do, and when you get up from sitting or especially lying down, you can't walk?

Oh and as of this morning, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome has returned. Anyone watched Jim Carrey's "The Clawwww" in 'Liar Liar'? That is what my hands get like in the morning - fingers frozen in a half-closed claw position, impossible to move. I had this towards the end of DD's pregnancy and thought it was because of hot summer, water retention, etc. Now I have put on half the weight, it's not particularly warm, so why?!?

Febes · 11/04/2009 09:17

That sounds like SPD Cote Try and keep your legs together as much as possible. I found that in bed was worse last time as well. I am lucky not to really have it this time.

Morning all.
DD just woke up (9.15am )so DH is getting her up. We have both been awake for a few hours so I lay in bed reading and DH got up to watch some rugby. What a treat!!

Its rainy here again so a quiet day ahead for us. DH is off today but working all night tonight so will need a sleep at some stage.

frazzledoldbag · 11/04/2009 09:25

Morning, just checking in. Can't believe there's another new thread already....Cocktails anyone? (sorry bit early in the day for that isn't it?) - maybe a Bloody Mary would do? Just waiting around for Mr Tesco to bring my online shopping - not sure whether to risk getting in the shower as he'll no doubt arrive just as I do. Am planning on some housework this morn while DH playing golf then he's promised to take the DD's out for a bit so I can do some work and have a wee nap (we're out again tonight so I'll be on my knees with exhaustion by ten if I don't have a little sleep this afternoon).
Think I'll have to write off the homebirth idea, DH is so dead against it. And to make things worse he was speaking to clients of his the other day (one is a GP, the other is a consultant obstetrician) and they were both APPALLED that I was even considering it. They advised him not to let me do it as it's so dangerous and really freaked him out. Great. And we can't agree on a single name. And he's just generally pissing me off. [moan, moan, moan].
tummum - wish we had a caravan to go away in. Used to love that when I was a kid, esp if it rained overnight - love the noise of rain on the roof [nostaligic emoticon] . Also I have 'damp' days sometimes too, but thin that's normal (as long as it's not extreme in which case go get checked out)
cote sorry about your spd and carpal tunnel. It's a nightmare the way these things just appear out of nowhere isn't it.
I have developed very itchy excema on both elbows. Really annoying. Where has this come from, why, why?

Blottedcopybook · 11/04/2009 10:33

DiveDaisy Don't fret, I probably won't get to see anything more edgy than The Care Bears for a good wee while yet anyway

Frazzled What a nightmare! I think your DH is being massively unreasonable tbh, it's you that's going to go through the labour and birth - surely he should trust that you would never make a decision which would put you or the baby in danger? I can understand the obstetrician to an extent because they (in my experience) tend to be very medicalised but I'm surprised at the GP thinking like that.

Today I am trying to decide whether to get out of bed. DS2 has started this ridiculous overreaction to everything so if you even say his name the wrong way he starts hysterically screaming. Everything has offended him so far today and my stress levels are already sky high. This is before we go to Wickes!

blotted thanks, and you are right of course but I can't do HB with an over-anxious DH standing by the front door with his coat on saying 'we need to go to hospital' or 'on your head be it if this goes wrong' which is his current mantra every 5 mins. My only hope is a super-fast labour so we won't be able to get there in time! (although after DD2's 16 hour marathon labour I doubt it somehow). Although am listening to my hypnobirth cd every day on my ipod now and quite like it so maybe it will help and I'll be able to stay at home much longer.

dandy thanks for doing the list. I find it quite shocking to see that I'm 35 wks (how did that happen??) and that as you say some ladies are now 37wks and therefore 'full term'.....wonder when the next birth announcement will be. Can't wait......I reckon momino will be next (and can't wait to hear if it's a DD3 or a DS1). No pressure then momino!!!!!!!

I need to wash the kitchen floor but sooooo can't be bothered. I get Braxton Hicks all the time, cramps low down and sometimes feel like the baby is trying to climb out....not really looking forward to another 5 wks of that, and I know it'll only get worse. Anyone else get Braxton Hicks when they need a wee? Or is that just me?
Oh well, maybe it'll be early. Please, please don't let me be late this time - I'll be gutted!
Better go and shower now. Have a good day all. x

ladyhelenatealltheeggs · 11/04/2009 13:12

Bookmarking the new thread!

frazzled I am 37 weeks tomorrow and therefore full term!

We are going to take DS to John Lewis this afternoon to buy a little gift for the baby. Can't wait to see what he picks out. Have also persuaded DH to go for tea at Wagamamas too aftewards. He's on an economy drive at the moment but we don't eat out v much at the mo so it will be lovely for all three of us to have a treat.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Belgianchocolates · 11/04/2009 14:00

Hi everyone,

Gosh a new thread again. Can't beleive spangle's big event happened 2 threads away now

I reckon Looby will be next, because her induction is only a week away.

I didn't have the energy go come back on yesterday. I felt so sick and tired and despite the sickness I carried on with my 2 hourly bum up in the air sessions. I think it's done something, because the kicks haven't been anywhere near my bladder today, but at the same time I'm not totally sure, so I will carry on for a bit. We'll see what the scan says on Thurs. If it is head down all I need it for the head to engage because 1) that will hopefully stop it from twirling around again again and 2) will hopefully finally put an end to that dreadful nausea. Honestly I feel like I'm constantly about to be sick. Not nice...

cote sounds like you've joined the spd group. You're experiencing exactly what I've got.

Who was it again that's suffering from a lot of spd/pgp pain? Don't be afraid to get some strong painrelief from you GP. I've been prescribed some extra strong co-codamol and that gets me throught the day. I am trying to lower my dose a bit though, because it is an opiate and might affect lo's breathing. So I'm trying to go 2 tabs of co-codamol in the morning and then just paracetamol for the rest of the day. Oh and I've discovered that the bum up in the air technique has had a positive effect on my pelvis. At first it was really painful to get into position and stuff, but now it's actually eased and I haven't worn my belt for 2 days now. Yay

reward charts never worked my my dcs either. I just do 'in the corner'. I tried one to encourage my ds to be dry at night, but he just put smiley faces on the whole month in one go, rather than on the 1 day he was dry I don't have to threaten them with the 'corner' very often though. Counting to 3 is usually enough in itself.

The dcs were in bed at 9 yesterday, because both dh and I were too shattered to move and take them up. They still got up at their normal time. Now dd has been lying on the sofa for the last half hour looking tired. I bet she'll fall asleep. Ds is making his 'DS' with those beads that you iron. DH has gone back to work. So all in all it's nice and quiet here at the moment.

grumpy I'm windy too, but unfortunately it's not pregnancy related. It's well known in the family that I fart a lot. The worst is when it happens at work .

And finally (I think I've caught up by now). My dd was quicker at talking in sentences, but her 1st word came later, and she was quicker crawling and walking, but I've always put the talking down to her being a girl. The walking to her being dead stubborn and independent, so her personality really, rather than her position in the family. Ds has always been a bit more lazy and couldn't be bothered to try and investigate things, he rather waits until someone shows him how to do things

Jennster · 11/04/2009 14:02

LadyHelen if you're still about make sure you sign up to Wagamamas email and get all their special offer vouchers.

Jennster · 11/04/2009 14:03

Chocolatebunnies? Was it you asking about anybody going to BabyGap? I'm going to a gap that has baby stuff in on Tuesday. If I can get you anything just ask.

Belgianchocolates · 11/04/2009 14:06

frazzled so sorry to hear about your dh and hb. I can't beleive those 2 people made those comments. Can't you show your dh the evidence that actually it's not dangerous!? I suppose other people's comments always have a bigger impact than reading something. If only one of his clients had said: oh brilliant, my wife had a hb and it was wonderful

My own grandma is 90. She's looking forward to seeing this lo, but I am worried about her. From what my mum says she sounds a bit depressed. She keeps saying that it would be better for everyone if one day she just didn't wake up . I think it must be difficult for her to be the only surviving member of her group of friends and generation in the family. We've tried to encourage her to go into a home, because we think she'd love the company, but she wont. I think she's a bit scared and has an old fashioned idea about what they're like.

Jennster · 11/04/2009 14:20

Frazzled, my sister is a GP and only been on Obs and Gynae wards recently. It's true that many Drs only see the down-sides, problems and medical emergencies. Dh on the other hand wouldn't have it any other way, having been through 2 hb and had a tour of the hospital. My recent 'refresher antenatal class' convinced me that I have made the right decision for me.

Spritely grandparents The last picture I received of my Great Aunty Margaret (GAM as she refers to herself) she was on a quad bike covered in mud. She is in her late 80s. She makes a joke of being one of the last of her generation, by saying a cheers to them every night with a Gin and Tonic. She says she's sozzled before she gets to the end of the list of dearly departed.

Momino · 11/04/2009 15:01

morning all. a bit tired today (but maybe because I was up past midnight last night ).
Cote, ouchy. hope you're feeling better.
frazzled, at the comments as HB aren't as 'dangerous' as many people think and should be an option for those who choose. i do understand that if your DH is dead against it, you'd not want to go for one as you want/need his full support and attention. and you never know: stay at home in labour as long as possible and maybe you won't make it to hosp on time !

belgian, i'm joining you on the nausea. it almost feels like I'm revisiting the morn sickness of 1st trimester. yuck. hope you feel better.

I do think looby will be next. although I was measuring 'big' a couple of weeks ago, i'm back on track now. also no, ahem, discharge, or any imminent signs. a week before dd2 came, i lost the 'plug', had a show, etc. anyway, I think I've jinxed myself by thinking i'll be early so i guess i'll actually be late now! anyway, we'll see.

just did some egg rolling. dd1 won (though it was my egg she threw after breaking hers) and it was great fun. now i'm going to have a rest on the sofa for a bit [happy sigh].

Momino · 11/04/2009 15:01

actually, meant 'afternoon all'!

Belgianchocolates · 11/04/2009 15:42

I've never heard of egg roling before. Is it like a contest? Do you have to decorate the eggs beforehand?

I've been munching on crystalised ginger hoping that that might help, but it hasn't had all that much success really. Still, it means I'm eating something even though it's sugary.

Lo is still moving up high rather than low down. Fingers crossed it stays that way from now on. I keep tidying up the living room floor on my hands and knees just to have a reason to be in that position, lol. I'm also avoiding the sofa and trying to sit on my ball as much as possible.

It's still quiet here, lovely. Ds is still working on his real life bead picture of his Nintendo DS. That's 2 hours now, gosh, he's patient!

Belgianchocolates · 11/04/2009 15:58

He's finally finished! Time to get the iron out.

Momino · 11/04/2009 16:07

belgian, a scottish friend of mine introduced egg rolling to us a couple of years ago. not sure where it originated but until recently mainly popular in north of england and scotland. we hard boiled and decorated the eggs before rolling them down hill today to see who could roll theirs the furthest without breaking it. odd but fun anyway .

your bum in the air position sounds like it's working. keep it going and fingers crossed!

Jennster · 11/04/2009 17:32

egg rolling here

runningmonkey · 11/04/2009 17:39

Hi all just checking in to bookmark new thread will be back tomorrow tocatch up properly
Hope all are well x x

llareggub · 11/04/2009 18:09

I really am going to have a good read of all of the posts later! My mother has gone (hurrah!) and we have spent the day recovering. We have made 2 batches of fairy cakes and DS has licked the bowl clean so he is now hyper...so just off for a long walk to tire him out. Father and step-mother coming tomorrow, so have another evening of tidying to do!

I hope to find out on Wednesday my delivery date. I think I'll probably go for a c-section after much deliberation, so it will hopefully be the 27 April or possibly 20 April (eek!)

I'm thinking of buying this for the baby, what do you think? I could never get the hang of swaddling with DS.

daizydoo · 11/04/2009 18:17

Hello there!

Afraid I need to join in with the moaning too! I have been trying to clean the house in stages and was getting there, but dh decided that he had to put laminate flooring in the living room today - downstairs is in complete chaos. Thankfully my sister took ds for the afternoon, but since we came home, he's had to eat his supper on the stairs! I've got friends from abroad visiting on Mon and fri so it really has to get done!
Also if I drop another thing I will cry - everything seems to end up on the floor and its so painful to pick it up!

Cote you have my sympathies, I have spd and my carpal tunnel has flared up again. Do you gave wrist supports to wear at night? I find that they are controlling the pain/pins and needles quite well. Although I was working on a patients hand the other day and by the time I'd finished some of my fingers were numb

Frazzled - sorry to hear about your unsympathetic dh.

Fi - I'm about 30 miles north of Bristol. Sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday. Ikea took it out of me. Mind you we had to go the whole way round as it my sisters 1st visit there!

detsy · 11/04/2009 18:20

hII ALL wowee stressed out day with wardrobes and an effing and blinding (and throwing things DP...)

They are almost finished now - thank goodness, means a lot less stress and also that I can put things away. My washing line is packed with teeny tiny white and blue things. All the v tiny stuff was LOtti's so was very nostalgic

Febes row row is one of Lotti's faves too -she likes the crocodile/screaming bit best! shame you live so far away as they could be good little buddies!!

Frazz so sorry about your home birth but glad you have taken the pragmatic view - no point at all in having a stressed out HB with a manic, coat wearing 999 dialling DH. Still think men can be very selfish

Ok off to bath my DD and remove DP from building action in the nursery...

Oh I got all creative when DD was napping today and to go with my birth plan I made some flash cards for me - so I can remember my key phrases etc from hypno cd and other things - as forgot it all last time. Just going to blu tack temm to the wall/ceiling/side of pool (will need to be laminated...)
