Looby - all the best and here's hoping tonight is THE night!!

Grumpy - I know where you are coming from re the bodysuits, but I would have just packed them all instead of buying more!!

Spangle - I found I was constipated when feeding ds. I ended up drinking about 3 litres of water a day and loads of fruit & veg, that got me going. Otherwise I ended up taking lactulose...

Dandy, glad you got the birthplan you wanted and Belgian, its good to see you back. Glad all is well with you.

If I hear one more joke about me being in the wrong part of the hospital where I work (ie anywhere but maternity) I will scream!! 7 shifts left till ML and counting...

Belgianchocolates · 20/04/2009 16:31

Oh forgot to say dandy nice to hear that you've had your meeting and that you've managed to get to a compromise. I would have thought they would have been slightly more supportive, many women go on to have a successful VBAC. In a way I'd be like you. I like to prove people wrong. You know, if they say you wont be able to do x or y I just have to prove to them that I can do it. My mw training was like that, I had a few mentors telling me I'd never become a mw (including the one that was on when I was in and who could't be bothered to say hello to me).
I didn't really have to be all that assertive, the cmw seemed not to be all that bothered whether I wanted a h/b or not. Maybe it's because I'm a mw myself and they just think I know what I'm letting myself in for. I don't really know.

Belgianchocolates · 20/04/2009 16:32

daizy I know what you mean. I keep getting men (always men, never women joking about the birth being a DIY job as I'm a mw myself. Hahaha.

Dandy I'm laughing at your comment at proving people wrong. I'm just the same! I swear my insulin dose has only gone down because the diabetes nurse I'd more and more by the end of my pregnancy...and I now need less!

I haven't heard from my father today. It seems he is locked into discussions with my stepmother. I do hope they sort things out, I really like her and will miss her if they part. I'm sure whatever it is is his fault!

In the middle of cooking spag bol while DS plays in the garden. We had a lovely teddy bears picnic earlier in the sun.

I'm such a lazy mother. I've got a pile of newspapers next to me and DS taking them, page by page, to the recycling bin by the back door. It has kept him occupied for ages!

Tummum · 20/04/2009 17:27

Llare Not lazy mother - just efficient use of resources (keeping DS occupied and getting the recycling sorted.) I think I am in your neck of the woods tomorrow meeting a friend from the 'gates' area IYKWIM.

Oooh, yes you are! Very close. Make sure you take a look at the new Sikh Temple by Sainsburys, it is amazing!

Tummum · 20/04/2009 17:37

LOL! Will look out for it

Now I am definately being a lazy mother with both DDs in front of the telly watching Mr Maker whilst I am on laptop. They have had a very busy day tho... (but not with me... )

Hello all! Sorry I've not been on for a few days - our house is in chaos as DH co-ordinates the final stages of his DIY mission. Carpets are down at last though and bathroom is done so I think we're nearly there...

Dandy and Febes I'm sorry I missed the meet-up on Friday but I'm glad to see you had a good one and am hoping to be able to make the next one!

Belgian welcome back - glad your LO is now head down and the homebirth is back on!

And Dandy I'm glad you got the result you wanted from your VBAC meeting. I had a similar meeting last week but hoped for and go the opposite outcome - in fact my midwife was very supportive of my elcs decision and said that looking at my history, if she was me, she'd have made the same choice.

But actually I'm not sure I will last until 28th April, because I had a 'show' this afternoon... When I had DD I went into labour 48 hours but I spoke to my mw this afternoon and said it doesn't necessarily mean anything will happen but that we should make sure we're ready!

Tummum my DD is also watching Mister Maker. It's educational don't feel bad!

Grumpy Am amused by your days-of-the-week vest concerns. I have similar issues so I have packed all 7 of them. And I've ironed them

Hope everyone else is well?

I'm off out tonight with the ladies from my NCT refresher course. I'm really looking forward to some baby talk and thinking it would be a nice supportive environment in which to go into labour

Well, that's fab! One of the things that put me off VBAC was the constant monitoring/lack of choice etc and unfortunately St Helier doesn't have a midwife-led or home-from-home unit anyway. Which hospital are you going to? Is it Kings?

Aromatherapy

At St Helier I asked about individual bathrooms - they have just one room with an en suite. They call it the amenity room and you have to pay £100 a night for it!

I went to the midwife today and as I thought the baby seems to have turned . She thinks its transverse breech so I have to go to the consultant tomorrow afternoon. I am positive that it can still turn due to small baby and tall me . I do not want a CS as I have noone to help with DD and LO until my mum arrives on the 16th May and DH needs to work as we are so poor at the moment.
I didn't write this in my birth plan!!!

I'm sure it will turn though . I'm off our for dinner but will be back on later for all your advice and sympathy.

1stMrsF · 20/04/2009 19:36

Febes hope baby turns, keep those upright, forward and open pelvis positions going.

Belgian & Dandy great to hear that birth plans are in place.

Good luck Looby

I'm just back from the antenatal clinic and have an elective c-section booked for 1st May. Still slightly disappointed that the babies turned and won't be able to try for VB, also sad that I will be in hospital for DH's 50th birthday on the 3rd, but glad that we have a date to focus on and what a fantastic birthday present I am giving him eh?

Febes what a bummer. He's sending you some Belgian vibes to get LO around the right way, sharpish. Remember... bum in the air...

MrsF My DH and his Dad share the same birthday and they feel pretty close as a consequence. DH always says he doesn't bother with pressies to his Dad because he was the best present he ever had . Is there any chance babies could turn again or is the CS now a certainty?

Belgianchocolates · 20/04/2009 20:43

1stMrsF Sorry to hear that your babies have turned. Amazing how 2 of them managed to do that at this stage. You wouldn't think there was any space left for such acrobatics. I think your dh wont mind you not being home for his b'day. Like the others said: you'll be giving him the best b'day present ever. I was my grandmother's b'day present and we've been very close ever since. So maybe it'll be the same for your twins and your dh.

It's ashes to ashes tonight. So I'll leave it at this for now...

bekkaboo · 20/04/2009 20:51

Hi all what a day! finally got a midwife app after consultant spoke to surgerry and expessed his concern that I havent seen anyone since 30 weeks and im 36+ now. I suffered high BP last time and he wanted it monitored this time. Good news is BP is fine, but baby is looking large.. she said 8lbs 2 already! she thinks she'll be 9.5lbs born, lucky its a planned CS but im still in shock!!

frazzledoldbag · 20/04/2009 21:33

Hi, sorry am rubbish at keeping up at the mo. Tired, grumpy, enormous and just generally rubbish!

spangle I was very, very constipated after I had DD1 and resorted to drinking prune juice to help with it (plus lots of water). It worked, but I'll just warn you - don't drink an entire big glass bottle of it in one go (like I did) - the results were painful and (ahem ) quite spectacular! I think probably a small glass at a time might have been a better approach. Big sympathy though, serious constipation is horrible. x

Not sure who was asking but it was me that said I get Braxton Hicks when I need a wee.......

Can I just ask some advice - can't be bothered to drive all the way to Perth to go to Holland and Barrett for raspberry leaf capsules, evening primrose capsules and clary sage oil (and anything else I might need.....????) - is there anywhere good to get this stuff online? And anything else people might recommend to get me into labour soon (very fed up at the mo) - I'm not 37wks till saturday but royally hacked off with the size of myself and next week am going to start on the baby evacuation plan (DH will be delighted - he's going to go from no action at all to twice a day or possibly more.........poor man won't know what's hit him)!

Big moan - NONE of my maternity tops are now long enough to cover my bump properly and I keep having to pull them down. Went into Mothercare today to get a couple more to tide me over till the birth but they were all so utterly hideous I couldn't bring myself to spend the money. So came home feeling miserable and fat. Oh woe is me!

Sorry to hear about all these babies getting into breechy/transverse positions. Hope they sort themselves back out soon.
looby - thinking of you tonight - hope all goes well honey x

Sorry am such a moany cow, I've hurt my back moving furniture about (I know, not recommended at 9 months pg!) but its making me so grumpy.
Night all.
BTW what do you all think of 'Hector' for my little man? - be honest, I wont cry if you hate it!

llareggub · 20/04/2009 21:35

I LOVE Hector!

detsy · 20/04/2009 21:39

Hi girls - can't keep up at the moment, so much to do with winding up work (this week) woo hoo and nesting, shopping, hobbling about

DD has snotty sniffles - had to do pressure point head massage for her tonight - well didn't have to but she likes it and I like doing it. DP has started with man flu - brill, I so don't want that at this stage!

Ok (TMI alert/query) - discharge....sorry. I keep getting really gloopy mucous, thick egg white d/charge slightly yellowy colour but no blood spots in it. Any one any ideas or anything similar?? Seeing cmw tomo so will ask her.

Have finally packed bags and "looked" at my tens machine - i'm a bit scared of it TBH - hate that electric shock game but guess Tens isn't like that....

So excited about Looby hope she stays put this time and we have next baby news ina couple of days!

Also joining the apprehension society re forthcoming births but think it is perfectly normal and natural to be so. In another way am looking forward to it and as (if DP and my age get their way) this may well be my last experience, I want to remember it well.

Bit worried about lack of news re Jael - I have speed read the last 10 pages or so - assume I haven't missed any updates about her?

Off to fold some diddly things that I washed today - think some will be too small tho (7.5lbs) so need to sort into piles of tiddly, and a bit bigger then into 0 - 3 months. DOn't know what I was thinking but a lot of the things I have bought are pretty wintery, hmmm silly old bat!!
