Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pulapula · 15/04/2009 23:20

Evening all,

Just back from a night out with work- my leaving do ! Just Friday to work then i'm on ML. Off to CenterParcs next week too

belgianchocs- just had to say my DD was born 27 Dec too! My due date was 20 Dec and i really didn't want a xmas day baby. My contractions did start around 6pm on xmas day so i thought she was going to be a boxing day baby but she held on til noon on 27th. I still feel a bit sorry for her though, as she gets all her xmas and bday presents so close together.

minimenace · 16/04/2009 00:14

Just going to answer my own earlier question incase anyone else is also wondering.

Found from another Hypno birthing thread you can buy the CD's here....

www.natalhypnotherapy.co.uk

I've just bought the VBAC set for £16 - excellent price. I'm looking forward to falling asleep listening to it very soon like everyone else

pulapula · 16/04/2009 01:06

Hi all,

my previous solid sleep is out of the window . can't settle as have really bad restless legs. have had 3 trips to the loo since going to bed and have now taken myself off to the spare room as DH was getting fed up of me too and i'm sure he was disturbing me when i was trying to drop off!

Will try again now lol

Gert2a · 16/04/2009 01:43

1.30am and wide awake! Good morning all!

Haven't been on for a few days - welcome to the new people!

Sorry to hear about people's continuing SPD pain.

And my thoughts are with everyone else!

Been in to hospital today for ECV. It wasn't successful. I didn't think it would be (not sure why - maybe mum-to-be intuition?). Was offered another attempt next week, but on reflection have turned it down and decided to book in for elcs (29th April - so we may have an influx of babies on our thread at the end of the month!).

I just want what's best for me and my baby, but as usual throughout the pregnancy people (i.e. family and friends) are now making comments about cs. 'oooh you don't want that do you?' 'I'd rather wait and see if baby turns itself' and my favourite of all 'Wednesday isn't a good day to have a baby' (eh?) and this one coming from my own mum. Hence being wide awake and thoroughly wound up. DH popped to the pub for the last half hour tonight and also came back wound up saying that the pub is now full of midwives with everyone having an opinion (my mum included in the people in the pub!) Why do people feel the need to make such negative comments on something that is so personal and is actually somewhat out of our control? aaaaaarrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh.

Thanks for listening, going for a glass of milk and some other calming measures.

Momino · 16/04/2009 06:45

pula and gert2a, hope you got some sleep!
minimenace, i got the same one for hospital. i'm slightly skeptical but figure it can only relax me - not a bad thing.

reggiee, i'm off lamb too. specifically lamb. maybe because of it's strong taste ? poor DH was disappointed we didn't have for easter but made a lovely pork roast with crackling instead.

nauseous, did you mention the skirting boards? i think that was me last week. it's a different story this week and I don't feel much like nesting the last few days.

today is one of my 2 nursery days so i've got to get some things done. defn finishing my bags packed just a few things to throw in; also finishing touches on birthplan. would love to clean our lounge as well (please send nesting vibes my way...).

Morning all, I've updated the list to include impending inductions and elective sections. Managed to get to sleep after i posted then woke at 6.15 so at least i got 5 solid hours...

FiKelly · 16/04/2009 08:00

Morning all... went to bed early as did some errands in town yesterday and wore myself out. Trying to catch up now!

Sarahken hello and welcome

minimenace i'm using the vbac natal hypnotherapy cds. I think it has made a difference as before i got them i was very apprehensive about trying for one. Now i'm actually hoping i do get one, not go over my due date and need a cs...

blotted, belgian(and everyone else with spd) I am going to keep my fingers crossed that things kick off naturally and at 38wks for you all... just coping with the levels of pain you must be experiencing is truly exhausting without having other dc's to look after too. I remember what being in constant pain is like. Many years ago now my endometriosis got to the constantly in pain stage which I had to wait 10 months for an operation to sort after it. For those 10 months the only thing that helped was heat pads... the ones you peel off the backing and stick it on you and they generate heat for about 8hrs? Pain killers for some reason only took the edge off. Even though i'd been passing out sometimes with the pain I didn't fully realise how exhausting being in constant pain was.. until after the operation and it wasn't there any more. I think you are all awesome for managing to look after your dc's and do anything else at this stage!!!

FiKelly · 16/04/2009 08:07

ReeBee my birthday is the 16th of may and my due date is the 15th! I'm also really hoping I don't have to share my birthday too.

Very exciting to hear so many of us now have dates for IOL's or cs's in the next few weeks. For those having the IOL's i hope you don't need the full lot and kick off after the 1st prostin application

looby well done on the 2nd syringe!

off to page 19 now!

flippineck · 16/04/2009 08:17

Morning all!

Belgian - what time is your scan today? Got fingers and everything else crossed for you that your LO is the right way round. Mine is at 2 this afternoon.

Looby - well done on the expressing, butdobe careful, you don't want to make yourself very sore. Jealous of your curry, I keep fancying proper restaurant curry (not home made) but I know the heartburn and indigestion isn't worth it!

Hope all of you not sleeping manage to have peaceful days or catch up later.

FiKelly · 16/04/2009 08:20

Gert2a shame the ecv didn't work but you're right in the end all that matters is a healthy baby and mum. at the you don't want to have a baby on a wednesday! What will people come up with next?!!

I have now joined the unexpected windy club which is amusing ds no end and still strugling with sleeping properly. Since last week i now seem to wake up tired no matter what time i went to bed . ds is back to waking at 6am and does not nap in the day so finding my energy levels seriously flagging by bed/bath time.

The work starts today on subdividing ds's old room and creating the new storeroom... by the end of next week it will be all done and just the fitted wardrobe to sort out for it. To save me trawling through our previous threads hunting for the wardrobe door/internals recommendations any chance you could post them again?

Right off for my one cup of green tea for the day. I usually save it for when i flag later but really need it now today!

LoobyLou36 · 16/04/2009 08:21

morning all.

3rd day of maternity leave - yay! meeting a friend for a natter and lunch (2nd opinion needed on bag I've seen)

2 days till IOL

rang my overdue pg friend last night, no movement as yet. She's been told to ring labour ward after 8am sat - same as me. I just hope they have a bed for me too. IOL was not what I wanted but have resigned myself to the fact that this baby needs to come out now and its not going to kick off naturally

almost packed hospital bag last night, then started expressing and forgot all about it

LoobyLou36 · 16/04/2009 08:30

flippineck i've been very lucky with the indigestion - had a bad bout of it then nothing after 24wks.

I'd eat hot curry for breakfast if i thought it would start me off. sent DH out for fresh pineapple last night - the one he brought back isn't ripe - prob be okay to eat by sunday or so - bit late then

will have one more go at expressing tonight then will leave it I think - give my poor nips time to recover in case I manage to go into labour Sat. I think I've given it a good go tho - surely 2 syringes is better than none?

LoobyLou36 · 16/04/2009 08:32

pula well done on the list
but OMG I'm at the top!

SpangleMaker · 16/04/2009 08:40

Morning everyone.

Looby you must be getting excited now - I'm getting excited for you!! You never know, the pessary might work for you - it did for a friend of mine and she said her labour wasn't much different from her first which started naturally. BTW re labour bag - I loved having bottled drinks with sports caps - I got through 4 bottles! The MW saw the empties & said OMG we have to get a catheter in you!

Gert people just can't seem to help having opinions, can they?! I laughed out loud at a friend of ours who said, 'don't listen to anyone's advice, it's your baby, but don't put it in a routine whatever you do. And get yourself an epidural, it's like magic' err, thanks, I'll do as you say and not listen to any advice, including yours!!! I had the Wednesday thing too - seems not only has poor Harvey been doomed with an April Fools Day birthday but he's a Wednesday's child and full of woe.... oh if only I could have hung on for IOL on the Thursday

Gawd, clearly I'm in a sarcastic mood this morning! Something to do with not going to sleep til 1am (silly girl) then being up at 2, 4 & 6. But at least H woke me up asking for his feeds.

FiKelly · 16/04/2009 08:41

looby i'm sure they'll have room for both you and your friend... it would be nice to be going through it at the same time. One of the girls i met at our local antenatal class ended up being induced as she was overdue in hospital at the same time as me being induced early. It was nice to see a face i knew and gee each other on iykwim

FiKelly · 16/04/2009 08:44

yay spangle that's great H woke for his feeds are you still at the stage when you look at him and think 'is this real?' 'did we really create this lovely LO?'

llareggub · 16/04/2009 08:45

Just quick one...

Up all night with regular pains. Really quite painful, moaning into pillow.

Called midwife, we're off for monitoring at labour ward. Could be nothing I guess, bearing in mind wind and constipation! No sleep, so v tired. Had a bath at 2am, which helped, but breastfeeding DS this morning at 4.30am (he fell out of bed) set it all off again. Most prob braxton hicks but so, so painful.

Anyway, will update later...

FiKelly · 16/04/2009 08:47

someone 'up there' is looking after me today... i've just had a friend on the phone saying she's free and would i like her to come over... her ds is same age and a play date will occupy ds for the whole am phew!

FiKelly · 16/04/2009 08:49

llare good luck! will check back later for your update. Big hugs xoxox

FiKelly · 16/04/2009 08:51

right... the guys will be here soon to start work so i'm off to brush my hair etc. been dressed since 6.30 but pottering around and on mn...

Gert2a · 16/04/2009 08:54

llareggub - exciting. Hope all ok!

pula - nice update on the list - but agree with looby - OMG it's getting closer and real.

Managed to get to sleep at 5am this morning, following my sleepless, annoyed night! Still annoyed with the comments this morning (espcially my mums - and she's coming with me to the foetal assessment unit for today's monitoring following yesterday's EVC. I think I need to tackle her on her opinion and views - it's hard enough having to go through something I don't want to (ELCS), without her sitting there tight lipped and saying 'what a palava this is'. Although only this week she gave me some positive feedback on my wedding - which happened 3 years ago - and it's the first thing she's said positive about it, and it was VERY positive, shame it's taken 3 years for her to say it. Maybe it'll be another 3 years before I hear anything positive about this pregnancy or LO). Sorry, moan moan moan.

Jennster · 16/04/2009 08:57

looby Try putting the pineapple in a sealed bag with a ripe banana. It might speed things up.....If only induction were like that. Sit in a room with ripe bananas....Oh dear. I'm going mad.

heat pads I used Thermacare heat wraps when I was particularly bad with sciatica in previous pregnancies. They are like a big belt with velcro on the front and extremely stretchy, but obviously go for the largest size. They last for ages and ages, much longer than the 8 hours quoted on the pack. More like 12.

pain I woke in the night with a pain in my side. (I've just deleted the word really due to the spd ladies) and realised my bump pillow had disappeared and it was ligaments stretching. It reminded me this happened with my first baby, only I didn't realise what was causing it. I'd just like to reassure the first time mums, that labour pains are painful but they aren't constant. They go away. As FiKelly mentioned earlier, constant pain (even low level) is debilitating, but labour pain has a purpose... I don't mean that to sound patronising. I'll go now. My mum is coming over to help me make curtains for ds's room/nursery. Orange stripes from Ikea fabric.

Gert2a · 16/04/2009 08:58

My scaredy cat has just shown the first aggression I've ever seen!

Another cat was sitting outside his cat flap, so he flew out of the cat flap and sent it on it's way. [very proud cat's mother emoticom]

runningmonkey · 16/04/2009 09:01

Morning,

llare fingers crossed for you today.

Fi hope the workmen do a good job!

spangle good to hear from you again, sounds like it is going well. Yours posts are making me so excited about meeting my little (or potentially v big) one.

sorry to those of you who are in lots of pain and have littlies to look after.

Sorry but there is a bit of a rant coming up now!!!

The hospital have completely f*cked up getting me and DH onto a antenatal/ parentcraft course and as a result we're not getting any!! I'm not too worried as I remember my little bro being a baby/can read books etc but I really really wanted DH to get something out of it as he is quite worried about coping with seeing me in labour, etc. My MW has said she would bookus a double appt for the home visit/birthplanning one so she can talk us through some of it but its not the same as being in a group where people might ask questions you haven't thought of etc. Also, it means that we haven't been booked onto a hospital tour and the woman on reception said to me 'don't worry, we can direct you around on the day' I said thats not the point, I want to be able to visualise the rooms and environment where I might be giving birth. so she said we could come in this evening but if we were late they would leave without us as she is doing me a massive favour and might get into trouble by having two extra people on the tour!! A little bit to be honest!!

minimenace · 16/04/2009 09:02

Momino I feel the same way about the CD's but like you say anything to relax. Am hoping they help me sleep better at night between now and then as other MN'ers have found with theirs.

Fikelly If the same CD's have given you a positive outlook for the VBAC already then thats good enough for me - money well spent. Like you I am hoping I won't go overdue as they have said they won't induce me. All being well they will let me wait until 40+10 before booking my ELCS.

I'm having my first sweep on 28th of April and then weekly after that so hopefully one will get things moving early.

I'm only more hopeful at the moment because my own EDD is one week earlier than the hospital given EDD so in my own mind I get an extra week if you get what I mean.
