Momino it's a rare treat for our dog to get more than one walk in a day! He's a lab x springer so is pretty lively but he gets a good long one after his breakfast and plenty of running around the garden later. DH always takes him at the moment - I haven't taken him myself for weeks. I am impressed you're still managing once - don't feel guilty at all.

Momino · 15/04/2009 17:45

thanks emmalinaC, i'll try. he seems pretty happy anyway. I'm off to get DDs from nursery - they give him plenty of play time and stimulation which helps.

Jennster · 15/04/2009 17:52

belgian I was expecting you to give me the low down on spider naevi It was my sister who told me what they were. That was a lovely story about hypnobirthing too. My cmw said that they probably wouldn't be in the room with us most of the time if that is what we wanted to do, as you can get quite self conscious having prompts and stuff. She also said she couldn't imagine dh taking it seriously. How well she knows us. What a wise lady. I'm going to have to force dh to listen to the cds.

sophietom I am trying my best to copy the cds for a friend and will do you a copy too if you like. I can't promise anything though.....It didn't work this morning.

Belgianchocolates · 15/04/2009 17:56

Oh well jenn can't know everything I did expect them to look a bit more, hmm, spidery? They're just red pin pricks with me surounded with white. Never seen them before on anyone else either, but I did think they were little burst capillaries, but they don't seem to be going at all.

Tummum · 15/04/2009 18:05

Belgian the pool belongs to my CMW who lends it out to whoever needs it. What a fab service ! So all I needed to get was the liner and hosepipe to fill it with.

Really hope that your LO has turned... good luck for the scan tomorrow.

Llare we all probably heard the same storm again. Hope it doesn't start again tonight as I would really like a good sleep tonight.

hi all,
had a fab day out in the garden with DS today - weather was perfect.

I read a few of you talking about the Hypno Birthing and quite fancy trying the CD - can anyone recommend a good one and where to get it ?
I have had a quick google and there seem to be mostly courses available.

Again sorry if this has already been covered on previous discussions but would really appreciate the info.

emmabemmasmom · 15/04/2009 18:29

Tummum That was why I was really into the whole HB idea because of how horrible my last birth was. I mean it was so bad that going to the hospital sends me nearly into a panic attack and I don't need that during this labour. Also, it was already decided DH would stay behind to watch DD...and I really didn't like that solution either.

Once DD goes to bed soon I will be sitting down and talking to DH. I think his main thing was if DD was sleeping and I was loud lol What an idiot thing to say as a reason! lol Oh well, I gave him time to think about it and then I can hit him with my reasons why and if that does not work...then I will just say it is what we are doing

Blottedcopybook · 15/04/2009 19:04

Belgian I'm on crutches and can barely look after my toddlers, I'm not considering IOL just because I'm fed up, I just can't cope with potentially another 8 weeks of this level of pain and feeling useless.

EmmalinaC · 15/04/2009 19:40

Blotted you poor thing. I am not surprised you've had enough - I was on crutches for 6 weeks at the end of my last pg and I can't begin to imagine coping with that amount of pain and inconvenience AND looking after toddlers. I hope you get some support from your doctor, whatever you decide you want to do.

bekkaboo · 15/04/2009 19:54

Hi does anyone know if any advantage to taking raspberry leaf capsules when as CS is planned?

sarahken · 15/04/2009 19:56

Hi everyone, I didnt realise there was a thread for May 09 babies, although not that new to mumsnet. Can you add me to your list of EDD, My due date is 16th May and I'm unaware of the sex of the baby. I have one little boy who is 3 years old.

Tummum · 15/04/2009 20:15

Emmabsmom good luck with talking to your DH. My DH is also concerned about what to do with our 2 DC, especially if I go into labour in the day. He hates the thought of them being shut out of 'their own home' and is also worried about them being woken up and also about having my parents in the next room (looking after kids) whilst I give birth. I didn't really have any instant answers - my tactic has been to say "look, we will work it all out and it's something I really want to do."

Blotted sounds like you are having a really crappy time. It's hard enough looking after 2 toddlers, let alone being on crutches too. Big hugs.x

Welcome Sarahken

Right, DH is home from work so we are going to blow up the birthing pool to see what it's like. Eeek. Scared now !

Belgianchocolates · 15/04/2009 20:38

blotted I'm on crutches too, don't forget. I'm in pain every day too and my husband works away, so I'm on my own most of the time with the 2dc, who I must admit are that little bit older than yours. An IOL would require lying on my back with my legs open for internal examinations and the lot. I couldn't have that, that would be too painful. I'd rather wait and have the baby at home where hopefully I wont even have to get on my back for the mw and where I know there's at least 1 spot (I've named it my throne ) where I can sit comfortably .

tummum how good of your mw to have a pool to lend out to people. I'd have to buy/hire one and it's a bit too late now for that.

bekkaboo I think raspberry leaf tea is not recommended when you're going to have a c/s. I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere.

My bump has gone all odd shaped. I've got a big lump with a definite foot (yay) by my r rib and on the left side another big lump going no higher than my belly button. I can't work out what that could be, arms? It doesn't feel as hard and round as a head [head scratching emoticon] I'm sure my bump never took this shape with the other 2. Can't wait for tomorrow. Hopefully it'll solve the mystery. It's been enjoying that position for the last few days now.

ReeBee · 15/04/2009 21:02

Hi ladies

Just spent a couple of hours catching up with everyone's news - and what a lot of news there is!! Looking forward to ML when (in my head anyway) I'll have time to read every day...

So excited for those of you with CS dates; how lovely! Hello to sarahken and fmwhornsey.

Emmab, snap! My birthday is on 17th May as well - as am due 13th, am hoping he's early / on time as surely even when I'm a mum I deserve one day a year that's just about me???!!!

Momino, we have 2 dogs; we usually share the walking but as I've got more and more pg, DH has been brilliant doing it all over the last few weeks. However, he's been out of action this weekend (demolishing and starting to rebuild our porch with my dad's help) so my mum and I have been doing it and I'm shattered!! Especially the afternoon walk when it's completely the last thing in the world you want to do. My M&D left today (with their huge mad puppy, phew) so I was on my own for the pm walk and just grumbled to myself for the full 30 mins - sore feet, bump ache, tired, possible hayfever, house not clean, etc etc etc. Am working in Manchester tomorrow and actually looking forward to the 90 mile each way commute rather than doing the dogs again, so have every sympathy with you!

Rubbish, have been off lamb (DH's favourite food) since got pregnant, but made a great roast lamb with parma ham recipe for Easter which was fine. Tried to use the leftovers for shepherd's pie tonight; cooked and served it and felt as sick as a sick thing when I tried my first mouthful. Dogs very happy with unexpected second dinner but me not as happy with ham and cucumber sandwich (and choc biscs, and creme egg)...

PS NEVER agree that your other half can start a large building project when you are 35 weeks pregnant. All I wanted was somewhere slugproof to put the pram (our last porch was a timber and glass lean to) but now DH has taken to calling the replacement porch 'the extension' and spends all his time either working on it or looking at it - aargh! House is filthy, grrr.

Apprentice now, must dash!

Blottedcopybook · 15/04/2009 21:23

Belgian I totally admit that IOL is the polar opposite to how I'd like for this labour to go and having a homebirth would completely be my preference but I'm really really struggling now. DH is great but just not getting stuff done, I'm really not managing to keep up with anything other than performing taxi duties and getting this baby out would be the answer to all my problems!

I am so so glad I won't be having another pregnancy.

Belgianchocolates · 15/04/2009 21:37

blotted I feel the same. All I do is laundry (bit at a time), feed the dcs junk food and watch the house get messier, making me feel lazy, even though we all know it's because I can't, not because I wont. I'm counting down to the birth big time and am doing everything I can to to make it start by itself, but I just don't want to go down the IOL route, because of the risks, the monitoring, the lying down, etc... I've decided to grit my teeth, take the pain relief and carry on for the next few weeks. Have you gone to your gp for better pain relief, btw? Mine was pretty good and prescribed something stronger without any hesitation. For me personally it also helps to start the day with a bath. Somehow it seems to loosen me up and start the day, because mornings are the worst time of day for me.

bekkaboo · 15/04/2009 21:49

What does IOL mean? Sorry to be dumb

bekkaboo · 15/04/2009 21:54

ah got it inducement of labour?

Belgianchocolates · 15/04/2009 22:04

Sorry, that's me using abbreviations from work. It's induction of labour. It's just so much quicker to write than induction.

Bedtime now. Lets hope it's going to be a touch less broken than it has been of late.

llareggub · 15/04/2009 22:11

Some of us have no choice regarding IOL. There are risks if I go beyond 40 weeks and my consultant has advised inducing at 38 weeks. So, risks whichever way I look at it.

sausagenmash · 15/04/2009 22:12

Evening all - just had my litre of gaviscon (ok, I fib a bit) and glass of milk and am getting ready for bed. Am getting the silent treatment from dp tonight - not sure whats worse - him coming back all bolshie and pissed like last night or being ignored. Can't win. Am a bit sad and fed up, so might just go and hide with my head under the pillow . Boooo. Still, on the bright side I've only got 2 days left at work

Hope we all sleep well tonight!

nauseous · 15/04/2009 22:27

Wow just thought I'd logon as haven't been on for ages and we've gone and had a birth already! That's awesome. I'm now too excited to go to sleep!!

Big admiration to the lady cleaning her skirting boards! Are you houdini?! Can barely get shoes on despite not being that huge...

Also got lots of nocturnal loo visits, insomnia, indigestion, counting down to the last week or so of work and praying I don't go into labour on day one of maternity leave as that would suck big time...

Sausage - hope things improve with DP..

good luck ladies, Nx

LoobyLou36 · 15/04/2009 22:46

Evening ladies.

Went out for a indian meal tonight with DH. The electricity went off 3 times during a thunderstorm while we were in the restaurant so our meal was a little delayed but it was lovely.

belgian let me know how much you want for the bottle bag I could send you a cheque?

Managed to fill another syringe tonight - not as painful as before, little bit sore tho so have plastered nipples with lansinoh.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 15/04/2009 22:51

Looby - glad you had a good meal out and well done on the expressing!
Have you packed your bag yet??!

We're just back from NCT. Have to confess I was having one of those evenings. I sat there imagining that I was imagining being pg and thinking what a fraud I was. There's no hope for me is there?!
Then on the way home, DH asked if there were any insurance policies that we should have incase there was something wrong with the baby or if some lasting harm came to the baby during labour (we'd just covered ventouse and forceps). He did say he knew it didn't come out right but it didn't really help my mood. He's now gone to bed. Think I'll follow him in a minute...
