Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
AuldAlliance · 15/04/2009 10:09

Cote D'Azur, I have posted my birth story, if it will reassure you in any way about second births after episio and stitches...
here

Hang in there May ladies, not long to go now...

emmabemmasmom · 15/04/2009 10:20

Thank you everyone for the HB info.

To be totally honest, I had a very very bad experience with DD and I have been terrified of giving birth this time. I have not spoken about it with my MW and I don't know why. I would love this labour to be different in so many ways. I thought about a HB last time, but we were staying with my FIL it turned out so it was not ideal. Now, in our own house I think it would be better to be here and also for DD to have me here (although I will be crazy mommy for a bit!).

What if you need an episiotomy? I did last time and would they be able to do that at home? As I said, last time was so very bad...

I am seeing the MW tomorrow so I can talk to her then. Is it to late to change my mind?

emmabemmasmom · 15/04/2009 10:26

AuldAlliance Oh congrats! And thank you for sharing your story. Your first sounded a lot like my first so it is nice to hear that it can be different the second time around. Thanks again...kinda needed that!

Febes · 15/04/2009 10:29

Emmab- You could plan for a home birth but I think you can change your mind at anytime. I also have a young DD will be 17.5 months so if I go into labour at night SIL can stay with her. She has work in the morning so if she has to go to work then maybe my neighbour can come over and watch her. I hope to be in and out of hospital quickly. If I go in labour during the day we will take her to my friend who will look after her till its over I guess. We have no family apart from SIL over here but luckily DD is fairly easy going and will go to anyone. DH will have to go pick her up after I have LO and bring her in to hospital and then hopefully we can all go home together.

Febes · 15/04/2009 10:34

My sister just told me she's pregnant due around Christmas I'm not allowed to tell anyone in real life but I figured its ok on here. She has 21 month DS at the moment. I'm so happy for her as it took her a year TTC DS.

Jennster · 15/04/2009 10:47

Tummum Forgot to say, I know of 2 people who have given birth with the only pain relief being a birth pool and using the hypnotherapy techniques. I've no idea how I'm going to cope. I'd like to think I can but I've not tried it with my other 2. Even if it doesn't work for controlling pain relief, it can only be good for relaxing you before and during labour. I do like listening to it.

alapala · 15/04/2009 11:16

I need to start ML just to keep up on here. Just over 2 weeks to go though!!
Madrid cold and wet, and DS and I have colds (or little man-flu in his case) so mopping around being miserable with my mum here thankfully. Have been sorting newborn stuff - it is SO small, quite freaky really!

Jael - really sorry to hear about your illness - really hope they sort it out.

Looby - GOOD LUCK for imminent induction - so exciting to know when you get your baby. Some of us have over 5 weeks to go - booooo.

rosie - I am obsessed with name Gabriel, just DH isnt quite. You dont really regret it do you? We'll be in Spain till he is 2 so that might alay early confusion as more common here.

What else?? Super medicalised system still going here. The other day had 2 scans, bloods, urine, blood pressure twice, a session with an anaesthetist, an ECG... and there is nothing wrong with me - well apart from pregnancy. just thankful the bill goes straight to work! ALl well though and bean well postioned so far.

sausagenmash · 15/04/2009 11:17

Hello everyone! Looby you must be getting so excited!

I had another rubbish nights sleep. Am so fed up. Dp was going 'for one drink' last night, home by 7. Texted to say someone else had arrived... got home, blotto, eyes all bloodshot at 1030pm, honking of booze and fags. Started snoring straight away. Am fed up with this, he keeps doing it. I think he's being really, really selfish, and I just want to cry. (Well, I did on the bus on the way into work). I'm not wanting him to stop seeing his friends at ALL, just not to come home plastered, and to stop bloody smoking!!! I've managed to - I know he's stressed, but hey - what the hell am I doing?!!! I'd love a night out in the pub...

Rant over, sorry. Saw midwife this morning as am fed up with the alien LO thrashing about day and night and I thought it had turned position. It makes my tummy look so wonky sometimes I look like the rock of Gibraltar! Anyway, baby's head is doooown and she says that she still has a bit of room to kick and stretch in there, so thats what the thrashing about is. Grr. Said it will stop in a few weeks, but the heartburn will carry on / get worse. Yippee. Oh, and I've got lower back pain now - apparently I have progesterone to thank for that, what with all the stretching of the pelvis and all that jazz. Double grr.

God our office is hot. When are they going to switch the bloody heating off here??!!

54 hours till I walk out of here and am on maternity leave...

llareggub · 15/04/2009 11:22

Just a quick one!

I have my induction date! 28 April at 8am. I'm going for a VBAC, and they'll give me 6 hours to get established and if nothing happens I'm having a c-section. I have to have a sweep next week to try and get things moving. Excited and scared now....

EmmalinaC · 15/04/2009 11:47

llaregub I'm booked for a cs on 28th April too! Very exciting.

Sausage at your boozy DP. Mine was also on the beers last night but I thought sod it and had a lovely glass of Montepulciano. I slept beautifully for the first time in weeks and didn't even notice his drunken snoring!

Belgian regarding large knockers... I went to Bravissimo in Brighton for a fitting on Saturday and was told I am a 32J What will happen when my milk comes in? I am only 5'1"... Will I be able to stand up?! Everything they had in my size was horrid but I looked online when I got home and discovered Royce make some really pretty mahoosive nursing bras!

Also, I hope you enjoyed your day out with Detsy. Spangle saw your pics of Harvey on facebook - he's gorgeous.

Hope everyone else is ok. Sorry to hear some of you are stressed and poorly - not long to go now for any of us!

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 15/04/2009 12:21

llareggub - exciting that you know now!!

Febes - congrats to your sister. That's lovely news!

My mum's offered to come over this afternoon to do some ironing! I'm not going to turn that down!

sophietom · 15/04/2009 12:22

Wow looby not long to go- have you got that bag packed yet?!
I had scan this morning and I no longer have placenta praevia AND baby has moved head down (he had been breech). Well done baby! I think he went head down during/after aqua natal yesterday- must've been the bobbing around in the water that did it
jael - hope the hospital appointment goes well for you

SpangleMaker · 15/04/2009 12:24

Wow, we're all so chatty on here these days!

We should definitely have a post natal club. I'd start one but it would be a bit of a monologue at the moment - can't wait for some of you to meet me on 'the other side'. Looks like Looby will be the next one over, but who knows??

Looby sounds like you're doing well with the colostrum. Maybe I was spectacularly bad at it but I really had hardly any - a midwife had to sit with me & syringe off each tiny drop. I don't think I ever got a full syringe worth - perhaps I was too disraught, who knows?

Anyway, things seem to be back on track now, as the mw weighed Harvey this morning and he's back to his birthweight at 2 weeks old This is what they expect for a term baby who'd lost 10% of its birthweight but is apparently very good for a 35 weeker. Jael think you asked H's weight? It was 5lb 12oz (2620g) at birth (35 + 3 or 5). He went down to 2310g but put it back on again in 11 days.

Fi well done you for getting your LO to turn. Hope you get the birth you want.

Febes · 15/04/2009 12:27

I'm waiting for my Tesco delivery. Hope they don't take too long.....

Febes · 15/04/2009 12:32

My fingernails have become really weak. They were so nice and long and strong all through the PG but they have been hopeless for the past couple of weeks. My hair seems ok though..

EmmalinaC · 15/04/2009 12:36

Sophietom that's great news.

Febes I always hope my Sainsbury's delivery IS late - then you get £10 off next time

Momino · 15/04/2009 12:40

Hi all. anyone's LO slow down in movement lately? i didn't feel anything for a few hours this morning and almost started to panic but squirming has begun again albeit slow. i have almost-38 wk appt today and will ask MW. will also feel better after hearing heartbeat.

looby, can't believe the Big Day is almost here! and emmalina and llareggub, you'll follow soon. and hopefully Jael, you can get yours moved forward.

i can't see my baby3 coming any sooner than 1st may but who knows? have been doing lots of walking today: 2 miles to/from dentist with dd1, 2 miles later to/from MW appt. and i've got to fit in a dog walk somewhere . am tired so will prob listen to hypnotherapy CD before MW appt. belgian, i also fall asleep about 10 min into it . i also find my mind wandering. don't know if i can concentrate in order to relax (if that makes sense).

EmmalinaC · 15/04/2009 12:44

Hi Momino - mine has definitely slowed down a bit. I think maybe she's run out of room so there are a lot less of those big movements where your whole belly seems to shift!

Good luck with your MW appointment - it is always reassuring to hear their little heartbeat, whether you're feeling anxious of not!

llareggub · 15/04/2009 12:55

I was thinking just last night that my movements seemed a bit slower. I'm also waiting for Sainsburys, which is a pain as DS is asleep and I could do with a snooze.

ladyhelenatealltheeggs · 15/04/2009 12:56

momimo gosh am glad you posted that! I have definately noticed a slow down in the movements, particulary this morning. Am also visiting MW this afternoon so will get her to check heartbeat too. I find I wake up in the morning and lie there until I can feel the baby move and say good morning to it. It does help, I think, that DH brings me coffee and a choc chip biscuit in bed! We have got into such a bad habit with that now. DS wakes up and his first words are "milk and a biscuit".

llare thats bloody brilliant you have a date. Not long now!!

divedaisy · 15/04/2009 13:25

Oh I can't get onto page 15!! Will try this post to see if I can move onto page 16 and then jump back to 15 to continue with my mammoth catchup!

divedaisy · 15/04/2009 13:26

good that's finally worked...

Momino · 15/04/2009 13:29

just finished my S'bury's shop online and now wonder whether I need to add mini magnums . I've just finished the last one! i thought my appetite was dwindling but yesterday and today have proved me wrong: 2 mini magnum last night, today's lunch was two cheese toasties and an entire tin of tomato soup followed by the last mini magnum.

I blame MN for drawing my attention to the mini mags. thank you very much !

sophietom, meant to say very happy for your news on baby position.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 15/04/2009 13:30

Full bump movements still happening here today but maybe lo is settling into it's new postion. Definitely moved more central overnight.

Tesco have just delivered here Febes !
I always add instructions for them as we don't have a house number. I do think that "last house on the right, next to number 1" should really mean they don't need to phone me and say "I'm not sure where you are. It says next to number 1 and I'm outside number 8 at the moment" ???!!!!

Right, time to get some lunch!

flippineck · 15/04/2009 13:42

Wow! I go away for a few days (a quite long weekend, admittedly) and you're nearly halfway through a new thread. Too much for me to catch up on properly, sorry - my internet connection is being really flaky for some reason.

How exciting for those of you who have dates now! And welcome to te new joiners, looking forward to chatting.

All fine here, been at my parents since Friday and enjoying having a bit of a break, alhtough my family aren't really restful! My Easter present to myself was a runny fried egg sandwich with brown sauce, absolutely perfect, and my Mum's Easterpresent to us was to get her 'lady' to do 3 hours of ironing for us! at both.

Another hb planned here, depending on the scan tomorrow to confirm LO's position. I think it's head down, I could feel (and nearly see ) a foot sticking out of one side near the top the other day, DH was really surprised when he felt it.
