Tummum where are you exactly (I know you're a midlander) I had thunder at the same time as you, but it was faraway and no lightening. Maybe it was your thunderstorm I could hear.
I've had another rubbish night. I tried my natal hypnotherapy CD, but baby was wriggling big time and so that distracted me from the relaxation (momino, I've got to concentrate on relaxing too) and in the end I just turned it off. Then I needed the toilet at 1, 2, 4, 5 and finally woke at 7 . I hope that after tomorrow I'll finally get some better sleep. In a way I don't care anymore which way the baby is lying, as long as I know. I hate the insecurity. It's driving me mad.
jennster I've got those marks too. I was wondering what they are, so now I know. They're mostly on my chest too.
emmab you're entitled to change your mind as to where you're having your baby up to the last minute. Let your mw know a.s.a.p. though, so she can bring the hb pack to your house. You only need a birthing pool if you want to have a pool birth. I had been considering having one, but dh was not too keen on it, as it would be his job to fill it and everything. We've also got a fairly deep and big bath, so I think I might sit in there for a bit. The only thing my mw asked me to provide are a torch and a waterproof sheet of some sorts. I have my old double waterproof sheet that made me sweat too much (my new hippychick one is brilliant btw ) and I also bought an asda smart price shower curtain that was ridiculously cheap, something like 96p! You're less likely to need an epis at home, but they do have the equipment if they needed to do one.
I've witnessed a water hypnobirth when I was a student and it was absolutely wonderful and was the event that sparked my interest in the whole relaxation and hypnotherapy thing as I was dubious myself up until then. It was a fairly young girl on her 2nd baby. 1st baby she'd had an epidural, ventouse, the lot. It had been a bad experience and after a lot of thinking she'd decided that her own attitude had been partly to blame for her previous experience because she had been scared, panicky and out of control, so she had decided to stay calm and in control this time. So during her labour she barely touched the gas and air this time. Before she went in the pool, she just sat there quietly breathing not saying much at all. It was barely noticebly when she had a contraction. Her labour was average length I'd say and the baby was born a couple of hours after she went into the pool. So yes, hypnobirthing works. I think the main thing it teaches women is techiques to stay calm and relaxed so the pain remains at a level you can cope with, IYKWIM.
frazz I also thought of you when I heard the news about h/b on the radio this morning. Lets hope your dh has heard it too
sausage Oh that sounds so promissing for me, you know that you're having movements down below, but that lo is definitely head down. Gives me hope
sophietom great news about lo and your placenta's position. Now you can hopefully have a normal delivery
looby I've found an unused Avent insulated bottle bag amongst my old baby stuff. It takes 2 bottles. If you want it, let me know. Hope you'll get better at hand expressing, but don't worry too much. Spangle's story should give you some courage!
Spangle Baby H is doing excellent. You've got the b/f sorted I'd say. It's so nice for all 1st time mums on here to have such a positive birth and bf story to listen to
febes congrats on your sister's news. My dd was due on xmas day! I managed to hold on until the 27th though, I didn't want to have a newborn or be in labour on xmas day. I wanted to join the family for the lovely xmas day pub meal!
