Hi GYo - b/feeding going not too bad here. Latching getting a bit better but still not going on straight away every time. Usually during night feeds she fusses for ages - typical!

Poor thing has got the snuffles at the moment so her breathing is quite loud and snorty. Can see she has some mucus blocking her nose but we don't have anything to suck it out with....

Gruff - sorry to hear you are having a slow start to things - but hope it gets going for you quickly before too long. I was really shocked at the order things happened with my labour. Never expected waters to go first at home - thought it would be ctx at home for a while, then in to the hosp.

Looking forward to hearing your BA soon though .

Good luck with tonights feeds GYo. I agree, take her cue. If you get let down I would always put her to the breast

Speedy labour vibes Gruff!!!

lardybump · 13/04/2009 21:17

I dont know york at all so will leave the place up to you. I am booking hotel tomorrow, so excited....

Gruff any news yet????

DS has gone backwards with his feeding we are back to every 2 hours again... He only goes on for about 5 mins and there is nothing I can do to make him have a longer feed, so he is hungry again in two hours!!! But at least i can bf was worried that i would have to stop with the reflux but we are still going strong. He still has very sicky days but not every feed so things are not as bad as they were....

I am loving being a mum of two, went to the coast today and saw lots of pg ladies and dare I say I actually got broody......

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 14/04/2009 02:05

ooh I'd vote for bettys too, although I'm still not sure I can make it! Need to look at dates with dh.

Glad you are enjoying being a double mum LB! I'm also already broody when I see pregnant women! Most weird as I hated being pregnant!

First night of the SG leading feeds. She went down at 7 after a big afternoon clusterfeed. Awake at 10.30 for short feed and again now, started at 1.30, but she really is feeding at her own pace and not taking much. Hoping she will balanceout during day times.

I really wonder if everyone gets too worked up about returning to birthwt etc. She is so healthy looking though under scrutiny about her at all the time.

Good luck Gruff !

lardybump · 14/04/2009 08:16

Morning. GYO I had the same with dd. She was born 8lb 4 and she went down to 7 stone after a week.. She took about 5 weeks to get back to birth weight and would often only put on an ounce in a week..

HV did nothing but stress us out about her weight and in the end our gp sent us back to hospital to see a Paediatrician. Lovely man said that many times a baby is born either to small or to big to what is should be and the first month is where the baby will find its own place, (he was telling me I fed her too well in my tummy), so as long as dd had found her centile and stuck to it with in the month then he was happy. Sure enough she went from 50th to 2nd centile and stuck to that centile until she went onto solids (she then rocked up to the 25th)!!! so try not to worry as long as buy 5 weeks she is sticking to one centile then that is fine.

KinderEggKayzr · 14/04/2009 08:19

Morning,

Yay lets go to Betty's!! I've never been as there is always a massive queue.

I am always very broody when I see PG ladies. Also when I see baby girls.

LB, I am so glad you are enjoying being a mum of 2. I am aswell except for when DS1 crashes his cars into DS2's head.

Gruff, hope baby Gruff is here soon. My labour with DS1 seemed to go on forever.

GYo, I hope the feeding picks up for you.

Hope everyone is well.

OP posts:
Diege · 14/04/2009 08:44

Morning!
Another vote for Betty's here . Have to say I've never maaged to get in either because of the queues - just thinking, are we able to book? (thinking about LOs if a long wait). LB, will also book my hotel in next few days - feel very excited now, and really looking forward to meeting everyone . How will we recognise each other I wonder? (must start looking at FB piccies...)I think I will be quite easy to spot with my tummy
Just older dds today, after a very busy BH. Need to start getting into work mode today, ready for next week. Can't believe I only have a few weeks left before maternity leave!
TINKS, I think handle height would be fine, would go for that one

KinderEggKayzr · 14/04/2009 08:54

I don't know if you can book Betty's. I hope you can as I don't fancy waiting in that queue, especially if it is raining.

OP posts:
sorkycakey · 14/04/2009 08:56

Being jealous of the sex of other children is weird isn't it Kayz? Even though I had Dd1 (and obv adore her) and I loved (still do ) having 2 boys, I would see families of 2 girls or all girls and want another.

LB Ds is 6 weeks or thereabouts, yes? He's very likely to revert back to frequent feeding around then as babies are supposed to go through a growth spurt at 3, 6 and 12 weeks I think it is. Should even out by the end of the week I would think.

GYo I hope last night and today balance themselves out for you. I don't worry about regain of weight at all. As long as the baby isn't really skinny, looks healthy, feeds frequently and poo's/wee's lots then s/he is fine in my book. I think it would be different if baby was prem/sick though. I have no idea how much Dd2 weighs and I'm not bothered in the slightest, she's very healthy!

HV and m/w's can seem a little controlling with first babies. There does seem to be this idea that if it's your first child then you don't have a clue, which may sometimes feel like it, but really do you need a clue?
What I mean is, you know yourself and over the first 3/4 weeks you get to know your baby. No one else will know her like you do. You both find your way together
Trust your instincts, you're a fab mother!

Gruff I do hope you're holding your wee one now

Gotta go 'tuptup' is filling her nappy (what ds2 calls her and it's stuck as a nickname)

sorkycakey · 14/04/2009 09:02

Ooh that post took ages....

Morning Diege
I would imagine all the babies will be a dead giveaway It'll look like a P&T convention hehehe
Not sure if you can book for Betty's, we've never waited more than 5 minutes though. If you eat downstairs I know you get in quicker. Most people seem to want to wait longer for a table in the top at street level.
No doubt so the great unwashed can see them lunching there

Fabulous BS Cosmo btw. I read it last night then my laptop battery went so didn't get to say so.

Tink I'm checking out those links now

KinderEggKayzr · 14/04/2009 09:02

I'm not all that sure what DS2 weighs. The difference between my weight and his was 8.9kg which works out at 19lb 9oz. But might get HV to weigh him tomorrow when he has his jabs.

OP posts:
sorkycakey · 14/04/2009 09:05

I couldn't see any of the links Tink. They kept taking me back to a MN page and Toysrus said the item couldn't be found. I hope they have still got your choices.

tinkhaseatentoomanyeastereggs · 14/04/2009 09:12

OP posts:
Diege · 14/04/2009 09:19

Have booked hotel Hopefully as you say SORKY if we request the commoner's level we won't have too long a wait, esp if we're able (travel etc permitting) to get there before the lunchtime rush. Must decide which jeans to wear
Right, off to read Cosmo's BS

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 14/04/2009 09:50

Thanks LB and Tink, good hear it?s not just me. I agree with theory of feeding too well inside me. The mw said chocolate and too much of it is probably why she was so big . I did eat a lot of it towards the end (had stuff left over from xmas...

Im really not that worried about the weight , she is weeing loads but poo is infrequent which might be normal for her but is a slight worry as I?ve read conflicting stuff as to whether this is ok or a sign of something wrong. Everyone else is obsessed by it.
LB/ Tink, did either of you supplement to get your DDs weights up?

Sorky- enjoy first day of school. Eventually we went to sleep at 4.30 til 6, then 7 til 9 so not too bad. Having a big feed now. Think you are right, worrying about weight isn?t necessary

Hi Diege- enjoy day with older DDs. Where are you all staying in York? LOL re choice of jeans

Am going to ring my NCT BF counsellor today for additional advice I think. Cant hurt.

KinderEggKayzr · 14/04/2009 10:02

GYo, if you think your supply isn't enough for her then you can take fenugreek to boost it. I was always told that BF babies can go up to a week without doing a poo and they are fine, providing they don't strain too much when they finally do go.

I don't see why they have to make such a big fuss about weight. Providing they are putting it on surely that should be fine. If they weren't bothered about weight then I would be BF still.

OP posts:
Diege · 14/04/2009 10:03

Oh no don't say that about chocolate GYO! I think it's usual to be obsessed with baby poo - I know I was! From memory if constipation is a problem (doesn't sound like it is at moment) I was recommended to give dds a teaspoon of fresh orange by HV - not sure if this is still the 'accpetable' advice though!
Staying at a cheap-ish, crumbling manor type place in York..can't believe that the majority of places I looked at are already fully booked!
