Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Jael · 09/04/2009 19:41

Thanks for all the info on reusables, think I'm probably stressing, I know there's no rush, I just like to be over the top prepared lol

On the subject of breech babies, mines been breech all along, it turned head down once apparently, even though I don't trust my MW's judgement on that one...yesterday she said he was transverse now, I've just got a couple of questions, when the baby has hiccups, I feel them on the right hand side at the top, always, is that where his head is then? And there is always a huge lump sticking out that side too, like tennis ball sorta size, what is that? It can't be his head surely, and if his head is on that right hand side at the top, what are these scratchy feeling's right down below, like way down below? Sorry so many questions, never had movements and stuff like this with DD. Jael X

belgian just a quick one - if you are into alternatives then I was reading my homeopathic childbirth stuff today and they recommend pulsatilla 200c for breech babies post 36 weeks - unsure about how often etc but may be worth looking into?

Been childcare solo today and am SHATTERED - DD not at nursery due to HF & M infection (not impetigo) seems to be clearing up now tho. DP refused to help this morning as far too busy arsing about on conference calls which he generally just sticks on mute and then he buggered off to play golf - still not back. Not v impressed - he seems to think that as we both work at home that I automatically assume position of working and childcare whilst he locks himself in the study. We WILL be having words about this issue later!

Hallo to everyone else - soory can't catch up - need to heave left leg upstairs and get in bath. Am buying a new bag for hosp tomo to cheer myself up and then i may actually pack it....

Oh Spangle has been allowed home - great Easter for her - hoping to see her soon and she will no doubt be on her when she is settled in x

detsy · 09/04/2009 19:44

My turn to have a mini rant - sorry girls, will feel better after bath and read of soemchick lit nonsense

Jael · 09/04/2009 19:50

Detsy Have they let them both out? X

flippineck · 09/04/2009 20:22

Great news about Spangle - hope all ok.

re nappies - Jael, don't rush into buying loads of one kind, I'd really recommend getting a few different nappies to try once LO arrives and then make a decision based on actually using them. Second hand is a good way to get stuff to try, but Idon't know if you'd be able to claim the money back from the council if you've bought second hand - but call the council to check the conditions of the scheme.

DD seemed completely ok this afternoon and evening, so no visits to a&e so far! I'm not used to her doing things like this, she really isn't a very physical toddler at all - she was late to walk, isn't very adventurous, doesn't climb etc so it's very shocking when she does stuff like this.

detsy · 09/04/2009 20:45

Yes mum and baby H both at home

emmabemmasmom · 09/04/2009 20:57

Evening ladies...

Will need to read and catch up tomorrow as I am a tired old fart and off to my bed!

Just got done posting a ton of stuff on Ebay and I cannot feel my bum lol

Oh just sat there staring at the screen for a min lol

Better go! Night ladies...

Jael · 09/04/2009 21:09

That's good, glad they're both home, and I bet she is too, can't wait for pics now! Jael X

Quick query for those with more than 1 sproglet who had 2nd one whilst 1st one was under 2 (phew took some explaining) Lotti is 17 months now and obv too young to comprehend that there is a baby in my tummy (IMO) However for the past few weeks she has shown enormous interest in my bump. comes over, lifts up my top to pat and kiss the bump and say hello...???! Today she was rubbing tummy oil in (ace little helper) whilst saying ahhh hello, hello.

Any one else have this experience with a young sibling to be - I thinkit must be some kind of 6th sense that littles have naturally wired before their consciousness takes over as they get bigger?? Or am I being bonkers??

detsy · 09/04/2009 21:17

OK am off to bed now - need an early night v much. Hope all sleep tight and are looking forward to a lovely chilled out long weekend!

Ordered my new hospital "Bags" from M & S - being delivered Tuesday so hopefully won't need them before then. Bargains as from value range but pretty with flowers and stuff - got a wheeled soft trolley bag and matching flight bag for LOs stuff which were cheap anyway but hten you get an extra 20% ooff as they have easter promo on luggage - result!

Febes · 09/04/2009 21:23

Detsy- Anabel does the same thing to me. I was also wondering if she knows there something in there. Can she tell I look different to her CM for example?? She gives my belly lots of kisses

detsy · 09/04/2009 21:25

Thats really interesting esp as they are the same age! Lotti doesn't do it to her dad she just does wibble wobble to him

I guess they must know then - how strange! But at least they are probably more prepared than we give them credit for!

Whats CM?

detsy · 09/04/2009 21:26

have to go to bed now - nighty nite

Febes · 09/04/2009 21:32

Child minder- Detsy are you getting Lotti a present from LO? What are you doing to get prepared??

Febes · 09/04/2009 21:32

I ask cause anabel is hectic at the moment!!

Momino · 09/04/2009 21:59

detsy, dd2 (17 months) will point to bump and say, 'where baby 3'? and when we ask her where is baby 3, she'll kiss the bump and say in mummy's tummy (bless). not sure how much she really understands though.

febes, Baby3 is getting dd's each a hobby horse (is that what you call them?) which were actually supposed to have been christmas prezzies but they had too many to open at that time so I saved these.

when dd2 was born, she was very generous to dd1 and got her a little tykes cosy coupe .

Tummum · 09/04/2009 22:02

Owch... the skin on my legs is pulled ultra ultra tight (because of swelling) and is really sore. Anyone any advice??

pulapula · 09/04/2009 22:06

Detsy- my DS is a bit older at 21 mo, but for a few months if you ask where the baby is, he lifts up my top (I have to stop him doing it in public ). We have talked to him about it, so its not a sixth sense or anything, but again i get belly kisses from him and his soft toys. DH tried to read him one of my books about the new baby but he wasn't interested. But he is interested in babies, so i'm hoping he will be excited when he comes to visit me and LO for the first time. Will definitely be getting DD and DS presents from the baby (did this for DD last time)- might focus on things they really like e.g. chocolate, magazine for DD, cars for DS...nothing too expensive. Also plan to take DD out to choose a present for the baby like i did last time.

Jennster · 09/04/2009 22:22

emmalina I felt exactly the same when I was pregnant with dc2. I PROMISED I would never say "you don't know you've got one until you've got two" and so far haven't. It's so patronising. I have to say I really had to bite my tongue the other day when a friend commented about how on earth could she get out of the house with a little one for 10am? Cue gobsmacked 'I can't believe you just said that!' looks from all of our friends with 2 children. You just do. It just works. You'll be fine!

Finally finished work. It was a horrendous day. I'm absolutely knackered and ready to sleep for a week.

FiKelly · 09/04/2009 22:33

just watched v silly adam sandler film with dh 'zohan' and now up later than planned..

tummum I found ice packs helped the swelling I had with ds.. either diy version of ice/peas in a bag wrapped in a towel or the ones you buy that have removable gel packets that you freeze and put in it's cover and strap on.. used to treat injuries etc..

FiKelly · 09/04/2009 22:52

I'm hoping our girl has moved back to head down.. she's been wriggling like a good un today.. my bump has been looking like it's an extra from alien! I'm now feeling niggles at 6 o'clock, nudges at 12 o'clock and I seem to have a rounded mound of something just above my tummy button.. that I'm hoping is a bottom.. also had to traipse off to the loo more often to pee as feeling bit more pressure down below.. what do you think? will carry on with the bum in air anyway just in case

FiKelly · 09/04/2009 23:02

re pressies I've got ds some new puzzles that I'm packing in my hospital bag.. nice chelona wooden ones.. not too big. he got the aeroplane one for xmas and loved it so bought the fire engine and another one that escapes me at mo. ordered on line earlier this week.. due to arrive next week. also bought a really simple small noddy remote control car. ds has seen it once at a pals and loved it.. it's for age 3 and up but figure he'll be close at 2 & 3/4 when his sis arrives.

Tummum · 09/04/2009 23:04

Thanks Fi - will try Ice tomorrow. Trying not to get alarmed by size of legs/ ankles, and might visit MW about it because it is agony and can barely walk & can't raise my legs to relieve them because of SPD pain. Sigh.

Will also try your Chicken Strog receipe this weekend... sounded yummy.

Right, we need to get organised and sort out a new thread title.... just don't me what it should be. Any suggestions?

I'm off to bed. Night night all.x

Blottedcopybook · 10/04/2009 09:38

Morning all!

I was up THREE TIMES during the night to pee. What's that all about? DS2 has also woken up with "frogs in him" - when DD had impetigo I explained that they couldn't share the bath because she had a bug, he thought I said "frog" so every time we're talking about being ill he talks about having frogs on him. It's quite cute really. But yeah, he woke up being sick this morning and he's really crook. Doesn't want me though, wants his Daddy so they're sitting downstairs cuddling into each other.

Fi Your chicken strog recipe sounds amazing! I might give that a try tomorrow cos we have friends coming over, would you eat it with rice or potatoes?

Febes · 10/04/2009 09:39

Thanks for the pressie ideas Momimo and everyone else. I think I'll get her something small from In the Night Garden as she just loves it.
Fi I definately have a bump like you and I think it was Jael who described her bump yesterday. Mine is all out on the right (LOs bum) and I have arms down in the left hip/ groin area and legs in my ribs. DH even noticed yesterday he said why is your stomach humped on one side? So I got him to feel one side which is hard and round and the other side which is empty and lumpy. It was a nice moment as he doesn't take great interest in my bump really. He was the same with DD but was great as soon as she was born.
