About having a 2nd dc. I just want to say that I wish all of you having a no2 a set of dcs like mine. I have never met a brother and sister pair that get along so well. My brother and I were exactly the same years apart and constantly fighting. My two love eachother to bits, dd is lost without her big brother around and ds is constantly looking out for his little sis. Even the photographer commented on their relationship asking if they're always so loving together (you know hugs, cuddling naturally) and I could honestly say yes . I always wonder how no3 will affect their bond and if there will be a similar bond between no3 and them.

emmab I like your technique for eBaying. I might go for it myself. Never thought of putting the descriptions on word first. Makes so much sense.

LoobyLou36 · 09/04/2009 13:37

very scary ladyhelen

LoobyLou36 · 09/04/2009 13:38

looking forward to meeting LO tho obviously..just hope it goes smoothly

Febes · 09/04/2009 13:38

Afternoon all- Its been so busy on here. I met up with some of my mummy friends yesterday with DCs the same age as DD which was lovely and it was DH and I 6th anniversary so we went out for dinner last night.

Belgian- Sorry about the bad morning. I'm sure the growth will be fine so just the breech position to get right. Were your others breech?? You still have time for LO to turn. Hugs xx

Emmalina- I'm really looking forward to having 2. I think it will feel like more of a family. I also am so much more relaxed this time, I have enjoyed my PG more and can't wait to BF again and I can't wait for DD to be a big sister.

There's more I wanted to write but I can't think now.

Oh who mentioned the magnum minis?? I have never had them but I just had to buy some at the supermarket this morning so I might go and have 3 1 now.

FiKelly · 09/04/2009 13:45

belgian so sorry to hear your lo has shifted again and having to join us in the bum in the air again. like you say i'm sure the measurement staying the same is down to lo being breech but i'm sure if cmw was extremely worried she'd have sent you down straight away to sit and wait to get squeezed in. i have every faith that it'll work out great for all of us in the end and remember that 2nd and 3rd LO's don't always engage till labour starts.. but you know that already my next position check is next wed.. keeping my fingers crossed too.

big hugs xoxox

Belgianchocolates · 09/04/2009 13:46

febes your clearly need a couple of mini magnums before you can think of what it was again that you wanted to say

Momino · 09/04/2009 13:51

Belgian, so sorry things aren't going well right now. I echo the others: keep your bum in the air and, fingers crossed, baby will turn in the next week. Big hug to you, all will be well.

I've just spent 2 hours cleaning 2 bathrooms . there was so much dust on the towel warmer/radiators, floor, dirt on windows, etc. I didn't think it would take that long but i was being very thorough - will anyone but me notice ?

I'm also hoping that by being on my hands and knees scrubbing the floor, baby will be encouraged to get/stay head down.

flippineck · 09/04/2009 14:02

belgian - sorry to hear about your wrong-way-round baby, hopefully LO will turn again for you. Like you, my home birth depends on the scan next Thursday, so fingers crossed all round. How would you feel about a vaginal breech birth? Can be done...

Those of you finishing work today, enjoy!

I'm stuck at home this afternoon waiting for a plumber. DD is asleep at the moment, but I'm worrying about her - she fell off a climbing frame this morning and bashed her head quite hard (well it sounded hard ), so of course I'm wondering if she's concussed. She was fine immediately afterwards (after the tears, of course) and was fine for the rest of the morning and lunch time, went to sleep roughly normal time - but I know that concussion can show itself later. I'm sure she's fine, but you can't help worrying, can you?

FiKelly · 09/04/2009 14:21

the mini magnum's was me dh bought more last night but resisting them so far as i weighed myself this am and i seem to have gained 5lbs in just over a week i think!?

not got the cleaning nesting i think.. but that's prob because too busy organising.. i have developed a cooking for freezer frenzy though. phoned dh to buy more freezer containers on way home from work tonight. i'm making the huuuggest pile of american style thick pancakes you've ever seen at the moment.. ds and i have had some for lunch and not even made a dent in the pile! had to start piling them on another dinner plate as the first one was getting perilously high. then making huge pot of chicken stroganof for tea/freezer.

Momino · 09/04/2009 14:25

flippi, watch her for extra-sleepiness, vomiting. I'm sure she's ok as you describe but if you are at all concerned, do take her in for a quick check.

dd2 fell at nursery a couple of weeks ago and had a huge bump on her head. she seemed fine but we took her to A&E and of course, all was well. but it doesn't hurt to check, does it?

hope she's better after the nap, bless.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 09/04/2009 14:27

Hello all

belgian sorry to hear you're having a bad day, I hope LO spins round soon. And your DC's sound adorable - my 2 swing between being very sweet together and being little sods.

Just back from 34 week appt with my lovely, lovely MW who I love very much. She is totally supportive of me wanting a HB (she thinks they are wonderful), she described me as 'chilled and laid-back' , she's just the MW that everybody should have (she's my very own belgianchocs). I'm measuring spot on for 34 weeks, iron levels are 12 so good, BP is down, just slight protein in urine but nowt to worry about. Basically, this PG is the same as the other 2 - apart from the SPD, no problems. Oh and she weighed me.......... I've put on a max of 1.5 stone

pulapula · 09/04/2009 14:29

Definitely no nesting, stock-piling of food, baby clothes washing, house clearance or other such activities going on here. I am just too knackered to get off the sofa. Not got much appetite at the moment either (apart from chocolate) and glad i've only got 3 more days at work next week .

belgianchocs- lets hope LO turns themselves- I know my DS did of his own accord at around 34 or 35 weeks (with no encouragement either as i was booked for a cs so wasnt concerned)- sometimes they just seem to know what they should be doing...lets hope yours does anyway.

pulapula · 09/04/2009 14:32

grumpy- your two sound like mine lol. They were quite sweet this morning. DD had a dressing up box and had dug out a princess outfit (plenty of them in there). DS wanted to join in so had a lovely princess skirt too. He was so chuffed to copy his big sister and they were running round after each other. But then came the fight over who had the white teddy bear rather than the brown .

Belgianchocolates · 09/04/2009 14:42

Inspired by Emmab I'm putting a bunch of stuff on eBay and guess what: it's a free listing day! Hurrah, something is going right today after all (actually another good thing was my iron level going up to a decent 12.1)

My other 2dcs turned themselves into head down at about 35-36 weeks and this one has done the opposite . It's so not unfair . I haven't sat with my bum up in the air as yet. I'm waiting for the builders to go, because the dcs keep leaving the doors open and I don't want the builders to see me sticking my bum up in the air, who knows what they'll think . I'm feeling a bit more positive now. I did have some comfort food to help me along. In my case that has got to do with honey, so I had 4 crusty rolls with honey

flippineck so we're in a similar situation then. Can't wait for next thurs. At least I'll get another go at seeing lo. So far this has been the only pregnancy where I've only had 2 scans.

grumpy nice to hear you've got such a lovely mw. Mine is equally lovely. I expected her to say something when I said I didn't want an actively managed 3rd stage, but she didn't even blink!

flippineck · 09/04/2009 15:07

Good news about EBay! Every cloud and all that...

Good news here too, so far - DD has woken up and seems to be ok so far, no tears when she woke (slightly unusual) and demanded milk and biscuits (quite normal), and the plumber has arrived earlier than expected!

I weighed myself yesterday morning, incredibly I haven't put on any weight for over a week now! Measuring fine for dates though, so guess it's that levelling off thing now.

People with lovely mws, you're so lucky. I'm sure my named mw is lovely, but I only met her for the second time yesterday! She seemed great doing all the hb stuff, but it would have been nice to have got to know her a bit more throughout the pregnancy.

FiKelly · 09/04/2009 15:09

is an actively managed 3rd stage when they give you an injection to help placenta detach and come out? with having a pph post my Emcs i was wondering if pph would be less likely with a vbac and managed 3rd stage.. the possibility of another pph is the only thing that seriously scares me with the birth of this next one.. am i just being paranoid & silly?

FiKelly · 09/04/2009 15:12

flipping glad your dd is ok.

FiKelly · 09/04/2009 15:18

belgian I've only had 2 scans this time too. with ds we had lots early on due to few scary bleeds. i don't miss the scares but do miss the scans!

FiKelly · 09/04/2009 15:21

having a rest and talking to myself knew it would happen at some stage.. ds is colouring and i just can't be bothered to go and hang out the washing!

Jael · 09/04/2009 15:28

I don't suppose anyone knows if there's any government initiatives for buying reusable nappies or anything is there? I've tried doing a search and have come up with nothing, I was pretty sure I read abit ago though about the government giving people some money towrds buying like a resuable kit, anyone know? Jael X

flippineck · 09/04/2009 15:31

jael - have you checked your local authority? A lot, but not all, of them do. Some are more generous than others too. Where I am you get a cheap trial pack of one brand, in othe places it's things like vouchers, or money back if you spend a certain amount.

Jael · 09/04/2009 15:33

How would I check my local authority, sorry for sounding so stupid, I've tried looking under direct gov.?

flippineck · 09/04/2009 15:34

fi, I was just about to reply that I'm still here intermittently, but Jael popped in too!

flippineck · 09/04/2009 15:36

Find the website for your borough or county council - probably the people you pay your council tax to! - and there will probably be something on the website, or at least a phone number to contact.

FiKelly · 09/04/2009 15:44

remembered seeing something about real nappies starter packs.. just checked and it was just our local council.. they're doing kits of an assortment to try out but just for hire. it's on the same site as our local council tax site..
