Hello ladies!

Febes Sutton council offer £35 cashback if you use resuable nappies which you can read a bout here. We also have a nappy service in this area which is meant to be very good called Hippy Happy Nappy. I didn't use reusables with DD but I'm thinking about it this time.

I sympathise with all of you with downstairs loos. When I was pregnant with DD the bathroom was off the kitchen so my DH bought a Victorian commode on ebay which we kept by the bed - actually it's rather beautiful! My first requirement when we moved house last year was an upstairs bathroom, lucky because I'm going 6-7 times a night at the moment!

Gert we've just ordered a new car and test drove both the ones you've mentioned. In the end we went for a VW Touran - my DH is a motoring journalist and former road tester so we spent months trying to find the right one! It hasn't been delivered yet but I really recommend you have a look at one.

I had an appointment with my consultant yesterday and have booked an elective caesarian for 29th April. Can't believe that's less than three weeks away! I'm 95% sure that it's the right decision for me but the hospital have been amazing and said I can cancel it right up until the last minute if I decide to try for a VBAC.

Hope everyone else is enjoying their Easter weekends? We're eating mountains of hot cross buns and watching Chicken Run. Lovely!

Febes · 10/04/2009 17:31

Thanks for the link Emmalina thats great to get a bit of cashback. Even though i have already bouht loads i could get a few new nappies to make the most of the scheme.

Gert I had a Picasso before my zafira and the sole thing I disliked about it was that the window in the driver's door is set at such a weird position that it impacted my vision when I was going round roundabouts - unfortunately I live in East Kilbride AKA Polo Mint City which is totally controlled by roundabouts so it became a real bone of contention! Other than that it was a cracking, reliable car

daizydoo · 10/04/2009 17:45

Fi - I was at Ikea in Bristol today - we went early, but it was still really busy! Dh spent most of the time running round after ds. Dh also managed to break the mirror we bought trying to get it into the car

Ds has spent most of the afternoon in tears and driving me spare - everything we do is wrong

Sophietom - glad you're okay and sorry you had a crap time at the hospital.

Spangle - great to hear you are home. Your msg bought a tear to my eye!

Belgian - really hope you manage to turn your little one!

1stMrsF · 10/04/2009 18:11

Thank you very much for the discussion on reusables. I've decided to use disposables in the early stages as I think getting used to having two babies will be easier with all the time saving measures available!! However, in a few months I'd consider investigating resusables and through your tips have discovered I can get a trial pack from my local council - brilliant!

Belgian good luck with turning the baby - I empathise completely. There's still time though.

V excited to hear from Spangle...

llareggub · 10/04/2009 18:20

Just checking in...I feel like I've been away for ages. I've had a very quick read through the posts but only quickly so I'll have to have a good catch up later!

My mother is still here and it is hard work. I'm not quite sure what her definition of helping is, but it sure isn't mine! Poor old DS keeps trying to engage with her but she is pretty deaf, won't admit it, and he thinks she is ignoring her. DH has been out both evenings and she has sat on the sofa, reading, while I clean the kitchen, do the ironing etc without a single offer of help. She is pretty mad, I think. I was watching the Panorama special last night on the homecare scandal in Britain, which is an area I do some work with. My grandmother (mum's mum) also has homecare and during the programme I tried to talk to her about various things. It took her three quarters of an hour to work out what the programme was about!

She stills insists on calling herself "mam" but luckily DS calls her granny every 3 seconds or so. The mam thing is intensely irritating to me as DS calls me "mama" so far too similar to that, I feel.

Anyway, I've moaned enough.....sorry!

Blottedcopybook · 10/04/2009 18:53

Ugh. I think my baby has turned breech, I can feel a hard solid lump right at my breastbone and I'm hideously uncomfortable just now. If she's turned breech at 33w I will not be happy!

What are you all up to this fine evening?

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 10/04/2009 19:06

Hello all!

Well, my mum was not too bad, she is becoming quite eccentric and wittery-old-lady like, she frets about strange and trivial things and gets fixated on stuff. But she was quite normal today. She's not ill, she's just lived by herself for a very, very long time!!!! The girls bring the best out of her though. It was nice to see my granddad too, he's 88 and getting frail but still crawls around on the floor being silly for DD2 and is ridiculously excited about a new baby.

llareggub how long is your mum with you for? Sending patient vibes to you

Buckets in the bedroom?!?!?! I could always use DD2's potty that she uses as a step. Don't think I'd ever get up from being crouched that far down though!

Well, off to cook a frittattattatta (never quite sure of spelling or how to end it) and carry on ignoring DH who rolled in after 6, having gone into work 'for the morning'. I suspect he'll find a reason to go in tomorrow as well, feel like a single parent most of the time. Then reading of books to be done in bed with tea and chocolate or cake. Bliss!!!!

FiKelly · 10/04/2009 19:32

daisydoo the ikea stores are always pretty busy but i'd seen the bristol one far worse! i'd never been to the mamas and papas shop.. if i'd been on my own i'd have lingered, browsed and shopped far more.. as it was i just bought a lovely new changing mat (old one eventually gave up) and 2pink short sleeve wrap over body suits.. so cute! we had lunch in the gourmet burger place on park st(never tried it before) and food was v good. are you far from bristol? we're about 20miles..

I'm parked on the sofa with a cuppa while dh puts our new ikea chest of drawers together in the bedroom. suddenly I'm really shattered .. I had to do all the driving today as dh doesn't know bristol at all but I grew up there so it's easy for me. when we go back to family in glasgow etc it's his turf!

divedaisy · 10/04/2009 19:33

OMG!! I've missed a few days and had too many pages to try to catch up! So sorry, but will try to read some of the latest ones in a while.

There is a new member here - I read ages ago, but Ive forgotten your name and think your due date is 25th??? Pleas add yourself to our list. Sorry I didin't get it done for youall yesterday, mind you at this stage I think we all know exactly where we are! I'm certainly feeliing it today!

I am so so tired today - total exhaustion! DH going off to work now, so best be a good wife and at least give him a cuppa and kiss before he goes!

Tummum · 10/04/2009 19:45

just finished the bedtime routine. DD2 has been a PITA going to bed so I thought it would be good to introduce a reward chart for them both instead of just using the stick naughty step approach in an attempt to b e a nicer mummy.... except DD2 wanted to do the 'tick' herself, and then decided to stab my arm several times with the pencil I was using for the ticks. Grrrrr. Shouted very loudly at her ! I just have a mental block when the DC hurt me on purpose (e.g. biting - not that they do now).

Having read this back it is quite funny really !! Just goes to show I shouldn't bother being a nice Mummy and stick to the good old naughty step in future !

Anyway - 12 posts left until we run out of room. We need a new thread title maybe incorporating wind and bums in air. Any ideas anyone??

ladyhelenatealltheeggs · 10/04/2009 19:55

Am joining the knackered club! DH and I took DS to Twin lakes nr Melton Mowbrary today, and although DH did most of the hard work (rides and slides!!) I had to have a nap when we got back,

grumpy your granddad sounds gorgeous. 88?? Thats quite something!

We've my mum coming for Easter day. My dad is currently in South Africa for work and won't be back till the end of June so he's missing the baby's arrival. I was none too pleased about this but at least he'll be back for DS's birthday. I feel for my mum though as it must be very quiet without him. She has her dog for company but the dog also means that she can't come and stay overnight with us and she can't bring the dog here either. We'd never see our wuss of a puss again!

Right got to go read DS a story...

Blottedcopybook · 10/04/2009 19:56

"If the wind changes your face will stay like that?"

Dear Lord. I was just tucking DS2 into bed because he's really not been very well today and I bent over only to let rip with a very long, very loud trumpet solo. DS2 sleepily opened his eyes, looked at me, grinned and went back to sleep. So at least someone is proud!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 10/04/2009 20:32

Blotted you can be our 'Wind Section' soloist. Could I ask, was it an unexpected one? I keep doing these unexpected trumps, frequently whilst browsing in shops. So and . DH is particularly amused when it happens as I'm waddling upstairs.

DH has just put the cot together, disassembled the crappy old wardrobe and removed it and sorted all the clothes out. And put a toy in the cot with a soppy look on his face. I'm still annoyed at him shambling home at 6 though.

ladyhelen My Granddad is fabulous - my parents split up when I was 2 and I didn't see my dad for years so my Granddad was my main male carer and role model. He is just brilliant (he has an equally fabulous 94 year old sister and they still giggle together about silly things, love 'em love 'em love 'em). My DH is, in personality, just like my Granddad .

detsy · 10/04/2009 20:37

Of ffor a bath soa quick hello - very stressful day as DP been building the sliding wardrobes - he's now sat on sofa saying nothing so think he's in "his cave" and best thing I can di is disappear for a soak!!

Febes - yes, am starting to fret a bit as Lotti is one crazy, hectic bunny! She never stops and needs a lot of attention (and exercise!!) but she makes me roar with laughter most of the day. Apart from trying to sort out the wardrobes for additional storage have not planned much else really. Am trying to go woth the flow and ensure that new LO fits into the existing routine (of sorts!!) Do you worry about loving your new LO as much as you love ANabel? I have occasional panics about this but everyone says that nature will take its course!

Momi your dd has advanced speech then to say where's baby no 3 - Lotti can string a few words together but not all the time tho she makes herself very clear!!

FiKelly · 10/04/2009 20:40

I'm on my phone at mo so can't google easily.. isn't there a song lyric about 'wave your bum in the air like you just don't care' or is it arms?! lol

pulapula · 10/04/2009 20:47

Detsy- i was thinking the same about Momino's DD2- my DS is 21mo and can only string a couple of words together now, such as "more milk", "bye daddy", "my turn"...

I also have the unexpected trumps but they are always good for amusing the DCs. Must do my pelvic floor exercises as sometimes leak some wee when just bending over and stuff .

My nesting urges might just be kicking in- have done 4 washing loads today which is unusual...

Tummum · 10/04/2009 22:08
