Starting new thread ladies, in honour of Spangle.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Emmalina You'll be fine! Honestly, if it was so hard there wouldn't be any of us (madwomen!) onto our 3rd or 4th. Really. The first couple of weeks are an adjustment but it's honestly not that bad as long as you're organised and prepared for a bit of upheaval. It's no worse than you've been through already becoming parent to one child so relax!

pulapula · 09/04/2009 10:33

emmalina- if i were you, I'd be wanting to prove your friends wrong, but there again i am very competitive . I must say that going from 1 to 2 was actually easier than I imagined it was going to be! Baby just has to fit into the existing routine and if you encourage them to adjust their bodyclock to be more awake (and feed well) in the day and sleep longer in the night then things will get easier quicker. I know with DD we never wanted to wake a sleeping baby but our worst nights were when she'd slept too much in the day.

I am however dreading bedtimes with 3 to manage (I find 2 hard enough at the moment as they just run around and get giddy!) but again, am hoping for another "easy" baby who will just fit in with our routine like DS did. Fingers crossed x

Good morning ladies,

Well, it's not been a very good morning for me. Crying my eyes out, because I'm scared that things are starting to go wrong. The cmw has been with my home birth pack and now things are starting to go wrong. Baby appears to be breech and on top of that the growth is static... She's booked me in for a scan, but because of easter coming up the next available one is on Thursday. Why is this happening, why can't things go back to plan. I'm going to have to go back to sticking my bum up in the air. I know it's worked twice before, so hopefully it'll work again, but this baby seems to be determined to keep flipping back to breech. Maybe I'll talk to my accupuncturist and see if he can do something to help turn this baby too. It's so dissapointing. In just 1 visit all these obstacles to my homebirth have popped up. I just have visions of me having a c/s now

EmmalinaC · 09/04/2009 11:30

Thankyou blotted momino and pula - it's good to hear from some wise women who are onto their third, or even fourth! I'm sure we will muddle through - I just wish people could be a bit more positive.

Belgian I am so sorry to hear things aren't going according to plan but if anyone can turn a breech baby, I'm sure you're the one! With regard to growth - how frustrating to have to wait a week for a scan - presumably if there were major concerns they would have rushed it through sooner? Got everything crossed for you though, as I'm sure everyone else on here has.

chocolatebunnies · 09/04/2009 11:33

Ohhhhhh Belgian you poor thing, wish there was something I could say or do to make things better for you, please dont worry, im sure everything will be ok, get on those hands and knees! What do you mean by the 'growth is static'? I have everything crossed for you xx

LoobyLou36 · 09/04/2009 11:35

oh belgain sorry it all seems to be going wrong at the moment - if anyone can turn that LO round you can!

Just had a piece of toffee cake - yum. I brought it in the celebrate my last day (4.5hrs and counting).
Going out for an Indian meal tonight and damn the heartburn!

LoobyLou36 · 09/04/2009 11:36

Haven't got a change bag yet (9 days till induction). Might have a look online later cos then I can pack the LO's hospital bag.

Belgianchocolates · 09/04/2009 11:37

Static growth means that I measure the same now as 3 weeks ago. Not good, but the fact that baby is now breech and was head down back then might have something to do with the unexpected measurement. I don't feel like it's stopped growing. For some reason, every time I feel like I've had a growth spurt and actually feel bigger, the mws measure my bump smaller... Weird. The dcs were asking me why I was crying, but how do I exlain to a 7yo and a 5yo what I'm worried about.

Belgianchocolates · 09/04/2009 11:40

I need the builders to go away so I can be miserable in peace and can make myself a drink without feeling like I should be making one for them too.

frazzledoldbag · 09/04/2009 11:44

hi everyone, only have a minute as am running around like a mad woman today but just to say hello, hope all ok and obviously belgian poor you, darling can you not get a more urgent scan booked in - I know it's Easter and all that but if they are worried about growth and breech (will you be going for ECV if it is?) surely they might want to get you sorted quicker? Don't cry, things will work out for the best.

(Quick cheery story - my friends baby was breech all the way, had ECV, followed by a lovely 2 hour HB where she delivered her baby with only her DH present (midwife had gone away as she thought she looked too relaxed to be in labour ). It was her 3rd child, first breech and first HB. She was well into her hypnotherapy though which she says did the trick (and she used it during the ECV when the consultant said she'd never done such an easy procedure on such a relaxed woman - and apparently the baby's bum was well wedged in there too so it should have been difficult to do). Anyway am waffling, just trying to cheer you up. [big hugs honey]
xx

frazzledoldbag · 09/04/2009 11:46

oh and sorry, [still here] , this friend of mine also had a small baby - came out 5 and a half pounds at term and totally fine. She still is a wee dinky little thing, even now and she's 1!

frazzledoldbag · 09/04/2009 11:49

although it sounds like if it has changed position that does prob have something to do with the differnce in measurement if you don't feel it hasn't got bigger (IYSWIM).
Have to go to pick up DD1, catch up properly later.
x

Belgianchocolates · 09/04/2009 12:02

frazzled Thanks for your positive story. I don't think this baby is particularly small. I've always measured above the 90th line up until now and if you'd see me you wouldn't think I was small either . Honestly only a couple of days ago I was saying to the osteo how I felt this one had a growth spurt because all my clothes had started to get tight all of a sudden. So personally I'm actually more worried about the breech at this stage.
I'm pretty sure a scan today would show it's breech, I've had a feel too and it definitely feels like a head up there. Iv'e had my suspicions since yesterday because I've been kicked in the groin the last day or so, while before it's been more upper half of my bump. But now the cmw thinks the same it's confirmed it and has come as a shock and all the possibilities of what can happen have popped into my head. I suppose that's the dissadvantage of being a mw. I have no idea what to go for if I can't get it to turn myself. Vag breech? ECV? I know I'll do anything to avoid a c/s, because with dh working away and no family in the area I can't not drive for 6 weeks.
My mw actually phoned up for a scan on mon, because that's when she wanted me to go, but they couldn't fit me in until Thurs. It must be very busy.

emmabemmasmom · 09/04/2009 12:17

Belgian So sorry to hear that you are having to go through all this stress when you shouldn't be stressing at all! I am sure everything will work out just fine either way you will have a beautiful healthy baby at the end of it. I know it is hard to have your mind and heart set on your birth plan. Hope your scan goes well next week and fingers crossed!

Whew...just went through the house and I made a HUGE pile of stuff to put on Ebay. The work involved is stupid but could use the extra money and space that selling things will allow. Better get back to typing up my long and tedious discriptions...grrr
I am selling some maternity stuff so I will link later if anyone is interested! lol Also selling my wedding shoes and my beloved expensive leather bag I have not used it in ages so guess it needs to go.

rosielady · 09/04/2009 13:02

Belgian - i know it must be difficult as you are a MW, but try to stay positive and accept what will be will be... all that really matters in the big picture, is that you have a bouncing baby in your arms and that you are okay at the end of it all.

Belgianchocolates · 09/04/2009 13:04

Thanks for all the lovely messages. I am 36 weeks, so there is still time for it to turn, but it's just such a dissapointment to have to go down the 'abnormal' route after a normal pregnancy so far.

I urgently need to go onto eBay too, but I just don't get the chance to take pics and without pics I wont list, because no one buys stuff without pics. It's just one of those tedious annoying little tasks, isn't it.

I really really need the builders out today. It's too much. I need my dh with me not them. I need him to occupy the dcs, not me. I really wish he hadn't decided to go for that porch this week after all those years of talking about it. All the dust, mess and people. I really don't need it.

ladyhelenatealltheeggs · 09/04/2009 13:05

Hello all.

looby enjoy your last few hours at work! LOL. I felt a bit emotional when I finished. It kind of crept up on me ( even though I knew it was approaching ) and believe it or not, I already kind of miss it. There is some newsworthy stuff going on in Notts at the mo and if I was at work I could well have had a bite of it, and I miss the banter around the office. Still, am enjoying the non rushed mornings, the availabity of time to shop, watch my american dramas - man I have a lot on sky+ to watch! - and the time to sleep. I'm sure you will too. How long till your induction? I'm kind of envious of you knowing when it will happen TBH!

belgian sorry you've had a rotten morning. Am sure you can turn your baby. They can turn right at the last minute, can't they? So still plenty of time. Chin up.

emmab ebay is so time consuming isn't it? I just put a load of stuff up on MOnday. Took hours and hours and it was only last night when I got the photos done.

If anyone is interested, I've a Mutsy Urban Rider up there for auction! We've been offered a Urban Rider lite (I think it is) so the one we had with DS is on ebay now. We would have used it again had we not had the offer of the slightly smaller one with carry cot, car seat etc.

Tummum · 09/04/2009 13:05

Oh Belgian that is rubbish news. I am sure it must be more difficult for you because you understand all of the potential implications in your line of work. Got everything crossed for you that LO swizzles around, and sharpish. If you need some floors to clean, I have plenty here if you need !

For those expecting your second, I found moving to 2DC was much more straightforward than I thought. Babies are actually really easy compared to toddlers (!) and you forget about how much they sleep too. One of my most treasured memories is when DD1 met DD2... she came clumping into the ward (new sandals) with a massive smile on her face saying "Where's my baby Sister?" and was besotted from the start. They get on sooo well and play together so nicely (most of the time). I also enjoyed DD2 much more than DD1 as a baby because I was much more confident in what I was doing and enjoed the baby time because I realised how quickly the time passes, and they grow up. I think 2 children are a real blessing and I am jealous of those of you with all of this to look fwd to.

EmmalinaC · 09/04/2009 13:10

Tummum you have just made me cry. Thank you.

emmabemmasmom · 09/04/2009 13:14

Well my technique so far is to type up everything in a Word document so I can type up through out the day when I have a moment. I have been taking pictures when I get the chance too. So later tonight I will be able to just copy and paste and then load the pictures so hopefully it will not take to long! I like to post in the evening so that way they end at night when most people will be home...but I HATE sitting and doing it all at night too when I want to rest lol So hopefully my new found way will work...just can't be bothered...
wish I could just say :
Dress...good cond...no pic can't be arsed..take my word for it...oh and it is black
Think anyone would bid? lol

runningmonkey · 09/04/2009 13:18

Hi All,

Belgian big hugs. Am sorry to hear your having a worrying time. As people have said am sure as you understand implications of it all, its all the more difficult for you. Sorry not sure if it has been said but if the lo has changed position would that affect the measuring at all? Re the hustle and bustle around the house not sure how doable this suggestions is but can you stick the kids in front of a dvd, barricade yourself in one room and put some music on, etc to try to drown it all out a bit? Take the kettle and some teabags (and chocs or fave snack of choice) with you? Oh yeah, and get that bum in the air gal!

My friend's induction failed and because of lack of fluid and an erratic heartbeat they decided to do an emcs last night and she had a perfectly healthy little boy at 5.45 this morning. Apparently he is beautiful so am eagerly awaiting pics!

Have just ordered hypnobirthing CD online.

Off to do a bit more marking, back later.
xx

Gert2a · 09/04/2009 13:18

Belgian - sorry to hear about your news. Take it one day at a time, I understand about having to deal with a 'perfect' pregnancy feeling like it's gone a bit wrong towards the end, as that's where I'm at now.

Have just called to cancel my car insurance, good news is that I can bank my no claims bonus for up to 3 years with same company or 2 years with other company, so that's a relief. But so annoying, have to pay £50 cancellation fee - god they know how to make their money!

Also have heard from antenatal clinic and am booked into clinic on tuesday to discuss EVC/elcs options with consultant.

I feel a nice relaxing easter weekend approaching.

LoobyLou36 · 09/04/2009 13:20
