Morning ladies!!

Congratulations to Spangle!! So happy to hear that she and baby H are doing well. Can't believe one of us has popped already! Getting all nervous now...hmmmm lol

Well I have tried my best to catch up (you miss a lot in 24 hours!! lol) Can't remember everything so will just send hugs, high fives, and a shoulder to cry on all around!

The dinner party went well last night. I woke up this morning though and could hardly get out of bed because of the back pain I am having. I had to take pain meds for the first time...not good...I know I pushed myself yesterday with cleaning the whole house and cooking all day too, but still. Gonna take it easy today.

Just got back from my 34weeks MW appt. I am measuring small (32) so a little worried about that. She said that if I stay the same or only go up to 33 at my next appt then I will need a scan. Sure everything is fine, but just never had issues with DD#1 so kinda weird! I have been measuring small this whole time but usually only 1 cm behind.

Ah well...DD is all emotional today. I don't know why but she is acting like she is pregnant lol Crying and moaning for no good reason so I am going to use this opprotunity to put on a dvd and cuddle with her under the duvet...yeah!

Momino · 02/04/2009 10:58

emmab'smum, did you save us some leftovers? hope your resting today.

divedaisy · 02/04/2009 10:59

There we go - the first birth officially announced! God I wish I had stayed up a bit later last night! My bath was still hot when I got to it! So I'm all defuzzed for my Spa day tomorrow!

Well done to Spangle and her Spanglet Harvey!!! I too cried when I read this - and now am a bit jealous (in a nice way though!!) - I just want to meet my wee Girl!! Still can't believe its a girl - ds told me this morning 'Mummy I told you it was going to be a girl, but you didn't believe me!' - sometimes I think he 'knows things' [spooky face emotion]

My mum is coming to look after ds while I go to the cardiology outpatients today to seee about my palpitations that I haven't had in a while!! So while she's here I'm gonna ask her to clean my fridge - she keeps asking if there's anything she can do for me, so I'm plucking up the nerve to take her up on the offer! I just don't like to ask!

Away to get dressed - oh lovely lazy morning!

LoobyLou36 · 02/04/2009 11:02

tested blood 1hr after breakfast - no change still high 9.7

the diabetes nurse rang to check I'd done my injection (think she noticed I was sh*tting myself at the sight of a needle) and said that when I see the consultant later they'll probably up my dose.

Jael · 02/04/2009 11:02

So pleased to hear everything went well for Spangle, I did read it last night, but was too tired to post. I had such a good night sleep last night, I'd forgotton what a really good night's sleep felt like!lol Were not up to anything today, the weather looks yucky outside. Weve got my mom coming round tomorrow though DD wants a tea party with all her teddys lol

Anyone heard anything from the Health In Pregnancy Grant? I sent off my form ages ago, but never recieved a letter of acknowledgement or anything, did anyone else? Any it said that to qualify your baby had to be born after the 6th April I think it was, does that mean if your baby's born early, like in the case of Spangle here, even though her baby was due in May, you don't qualify anymore? XXX

detsy · 02/04/2009 11:02

Hellloooo - gosh wonder how choc is getting on at playgroup? So proud of her and bet Madi is beside herself with the social activity! Let us know when you get home choc and well done you for facing your fears - hope it went really well and that you will continue to get out and about.

I think tears are normal at this stage - I cried at nursery when I was complaining about one childs behaviour (keeps bashing the other kids) I was blubbing that I wanted Lotti to feel safe, don't think she is bothered really!!

Momino · 02/04/2009 11:02

i meant emmabemmasmom not mum. does your DD call you mom? i can't get my dd's to call me that, they call me 'mum' but probably because they're surrounded by other children or people saying mum and mummy . don't know why they haven't got a bit of my Ohio accent as well: they (well dd2 is only starting to talk sentences) sound posh with a bit of Yorkshire thrown in (if you can imagine).

Momino · 02/04/2009 11:06

Jael, I sent my hip form 10ish weeks ago and haven't heard anything. i called yesterday to check and they said they're not 'paying out' until May. She also said we don't need to ring for acknowledgment so don't worry. If you've not heard anything after May, then ring.

I think Spangle will still qualify (but not sure) since she applied for it when she had a due date post 6 apr .

Jael · 02/04/2009 11:08

Momino My DD who's 3, calls me Mom, and for the last few months I've developed the name Mo-Mo too, I don't know why, she's not "babyish" in anyway, and in fact extremely grown up in herself, so where she's got Mo-Mo from i'll never know lol

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 02/04/2009 11:15

Momino

My 2 used to have the posh/York accent but have now developed a Teesside twang (Wye aye pet and all that). They're posh at home (I don't really have an accent) and little Middlesbrough Smoggies at school. I think they sound quite sweet but my mum tries to correct them I would only correct them if they called me 'mam', which is the usual up here, because I don't like 'mam'

Still keep grinning to myself about Spangle and Spanglet

I've heard nothing from HiPG - new scheme so suppose it will take govn a while to sort out. Not expecting any payment to arrive till end April at earliest

Looby Lou - well done on your injection - am sure it will get easier from now on

Jael i'm a bit confused (doesn't take much..) I thought you were going for a natural birth now??

I have to have a snooze - trip to south east yesterday for several meetings has wiped me out so back to bed for me for an hour or so

Re meals - I too have no appetite aside from snacking and nibbling at fruit, breakfast cereal, soup and sarnies. Drinking gallons of all sorts tho

LoobyLou36 · 02/04/2009 11:21

have a good day divedaisy hope all goes well at the hospital

MIL keeps asking me if there's anything she can do also - don't like to ask tho

Jael · 02/04/2009 11:26

detsy I was always going to go for a CS, as I had a hurrendous birth with DD which resulted in Emerg CS. A while back I was concidering having a natural birth, but got told I wouldn't be allowed to have it in the water, which is what I'd have wanted to have, my MW also said I'd have to be monitered the whole way through, with that strap across your tummy, which I had to have with DD, and hated it as I was so uncomfortable, I wanted to move positions etc and kept getting told to stay on my back...I'd also got told last time that I'm small down below, and wouldn't be able to push a baby bigger than 9lb out. Our baby was on the large side at a growth scan at 26weeks, because I asked what the possibilty was of having more growth scans to moniter babys weight, and possible early induction, so I could naturally push out a baby of under 9lb, I got told no, so...I'm having to have the section now, on 30th April, unless he arrives before that lol XXX

sausagenmash · 02/04/2009 11:27

Keep smiling about Spanglet! Am also a bit too, but in a nice way... am getting a bit excited now!

I only got my HiPG form this week so have only just posted it..

Am having a duvet day. Need a day of R&R so I can be all zingy for my humdinger of a clinic tomorrow. Got up 1/2 hour ago. Bliss. Had a nasty dream about killer zombie dodo's. Really violent and nasty, with axes in heads and all sorts, and they could only be killed by squirting them with meths from green water pistols. That's what domino's pizza does for you...

emmabemmasmom · 02/04/2009 11:28

Oh god yes I have plenty of leftovers for anyone who is interested lol I even sent away doggy bags last night so try and get rid of some of it!

SOOO jealous of you divedaisy and your spa day...I would be happy if I could get DH to give me a backrub lol Enjoy your day!

momino DD does call me mom or mama...but she only says it when she is upset or being clingy and then she moans it...lol...for DH it is always 'dad' and it is happy and all the time. Why do I only get called for the moany moments?? grrr

emmabemmasmom · 02/04/2009 11:32

Oh I also sent away my HipG form 2 weeks ago and have not heard anything so we shall see.

I am also applying for the Sure Start Grant. I don't think I qualify but hey worth sending it out anyway! The only thing I get is child tax credit but it has to be a certain amount to get the sure start and I don't know if I get that amount or not. Oh well, all they can say is no!

Anyone else applying for the Sure Start?

divedaisy · 02/04/2009 11:53

sausage - lol at your zombies!! I used to get weird and nasty dreams too... but next time I get one I'll use a water pistol to get rid!

emmabemmasmom - I know nothing about sure start - is it means tested??

chocolatebunnies · 02/04/2009 11:58

Thanks for all the good luck messages, Me and Madi are now home, slightly dissappointed though, my friend had a boo-boo and forgot that play group was closed the first thursday of the month, so we couldn't go BUT we did decide to go to the local country park which is about 10 mins away in the car, I've never been on my 'own' without DP so was a bit anxious, there were lots of children there for Madi to play with and she coped fine, in fact a little boy ran into her and she helped him up! Theres a big play park and I managed to 'let go' and let her run around and do what she wanted, it wasn't easy, but I feel so much more confident now that I can take her out and not have to keep her reigned in, we spent and hour and half there and I really really enjoyed it, feel so good in myself now, probably sounds silly but I never thought I'd be able to take Madi to places without DP, but I can, its great, I ave a sudden urge to get on a bus, ooeerrr!
Thank you for all your support

I havent received my HipG form yet, Im due to see Midwife at 34 weeks but when I rang up yesterday to make an appointment they cant get me in till I'll be 35 weeks, do you think this will be a problem? Is it essential to see Midwife exactly on the right date? I haven't seen her since 28 weeks.

Right, so what shall I do this afternoon with my new found confidence????

detsy · 02/04/2009 11:59

jael ah now i understand - i must have missed some posts in between times! Agree about the tummy strap - i had to have that when induced and NEEDED to move around - ignored the instructions to lie on back (yeah right) and woddled about all over the place but straps kept falling off so not a popular girl. I too don't want that this time either!

Emmabemma pretty certain that SureStart is means tested so will depend on your household income - no idea about the figures - sorry. Like you say -worth applying to see what happens

Had carpets and sofa cleaned on Tuesday - they aleady have reddish splodges on them (ice pop me thinks...) (who ever told me cream was a great colour - ok in my minimalistic pre children, professional singleton days maybe!!)

detsy · 02/04/2009 12:15

choc well done you - so impressed!!! I bet Madi had a great time with some new found freedom. I thnk its a great idea to make the most of your confidence and do something this afternoon if you are up for it. I'd keep the trip short and manageable tho - are there no little groups open this afternoon? Or library or do you have a soft play centre you could bob into - Madi could run some energy off and you could sit and have a coffee (decaff obv ;) ) Or just feed the ducks somewhere?

It will do you the world of good to get into some planned groups with mums with kids a similar age - few links here to get you started!

Good on you girl and remember you can only eat an elephant in little pieces x

llareggub · 02/04/2009 12:15

Looby it took a while for my lot to prescribe the right dose for me. They'll probably increase the dose in small increments until it works.

chocolatebunnies what an anti-climax re toddler group, but well done on going to the country park!

Reggiee how is DD this morning?

DS and I wrapped up on the sofa, feeling very sleepy! Hopefully hell start to snooze in a mo so I can nap. I'm very tired, and had a weird pain across my tummy earlier, bit like a stitch. Ow! I think they were a bit concerned at the library to see large pregnant woman rubbing her tummy in pain!

detsy · 02/04/2009 12:18

Can someone send these willing MILs my way please - I have a list as long as several arms and would be more than willing to let them have a bash at it. I don't have any willing helpers - I'd def make the most of it and they will feel like they are doing something practical and helpful as well

I don't know why I'm on here, I'm supposed to be on a teleconf with colleagues in SA and I just want to go to sleep.... being a v naughty girl (again..!!)

detsy · 02/04/2009 12:20

Or I may go and get my eyelashes dyed so I look less sleepy and dazed, and maybe a facial or something, hmmmm could be a good plan...

emmabemmasmom · 02/04/2009 12:20

I don't think the Sure Start is means tested as I don't have to send in any infomation on income and there are no questions relating to that on the application.

It just says that you may be able to get it if you or your partner are getting:
Income support (we're not)
Jobseekers (we're not)
Working Tax credit which includes disability element (we're not)
OR Child Tax Credit at a rate higher than family element. It then says that you need to be getting £548 a year in Child Tax credits...and that is the only aspect that I think we may be able to use but I am not sure!

I had a look at our Working Tax forms and they are confusing so I cannot tell exactly how much Child Tax we are getting...

It is a £500 grant though so worth a shot! And, my neighbor got it when she was pregnant and she was working full time and was not recieving any benifits.

Momino · 02/04/2009 12:29

all, about the HiPG: when I spoke to the woman yesterday, she said they weren't 'paying out' until May (even if babies were born in Apr) so don't worry too much if you haven't heard from them until then.

chocobunnies, sounds like a good time at the park, glad you got out.

I've just listened to the hypno birth cd and am relaxed ! now off to see MW at hosp to talk about impending labour experience... wish me luck!
